Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

After some minutes of running, and stopping, and running again and stopping again and running yet again, Desire could tell she was rather close to the city square into whose fountain she had dropped those monster seeds. She could see the vines of the result of her actions waving above the tops of buildings, and so she decided to let her common sense get the better part of her spontaneity, and wait for her erstwhile opponents who had converted her into 'pest control' personnel. She prayed the pest control personnel 'job' was permanent, as she waited for them to arrive.

While waiting, Desire had the time to reminisce on what had led her up till this point. Would the Fairy Tail mages keep their word and help her become a better person? Unless they were lying, they seemed to believe that she had what it took to reform. And so far, they didn't seem to be. So the only thing she could do was hope....

A frightened individual hurried past the waiting girl, but not so fast that she couldn't catch him. Desire reached out and grabbed his arm firmly but not roughly, as she asked, "Pray, citizen, what's going on at the fountain square?" Not like she didn't know, but there could be new developments she was unaware of. He swung round as she caught him, saw she was just a girl, apparently, and eased a little. "You'd be not very smart to go there without heavy 'artillery', young lady. There's some nasty tree-thing that's attempting to raid the bank just beyond the square. I don't know how it got there, but it grew from the fountain in the square, methinks. The militia are trying to deal with it, but it seems impervious to any attack, unless it's magic-based. And all the mages of that guild yonder seem to be out. Just when we really need them."

"Have no worries," Desire said, "I'm sure the mages are on their way, even as we speak."

The man did not look so convinced.

Cleia followed Pinkie as doggedly as she could towards the Magnolia fountain. Life really had its strange twists and turns. She had awoken at dawn, without the foggiest notion that things would turn out the way they did. She wasn't even expecting that Pinkie would be redeemable. It would turn out the 'normal' way: the monster tree would eventually be taken down, and Pinkie would be apprehended and face the music. She hadn't expected that from the girl who had once proved nigh-insufferable, they might yet have an ally...

Looking up, Cleia noticed the vines of the monster tree flailing about. From the looks of it, it didn't seem to have grown any bigger, which was a good thing. So now, all they had to do was turn it to firewood. Now, Brian and herself had an extra hand to aid them, which was expected to make the work easier. She slowed down and stopped as Pinkie apprehended a passer- (or should we say, runner-) by and asked him for the sit rep. From what he said, the tree's only serious weakness was magic. For a while, Cleia wondered whether her Shakujou was that effective because it was a magical tool, or just because it was sharp. Whichever was the case, the bottom line was obvious: it would be up to them to take down the tree.

Unlike Pinkie, she said nothing to the man, as he would have probably laughed at her size if she mentioned that she was part of the Rectification Team.

"So, Pinkie, got any tips we could use to take this thing down?"

It was always good to have a plan before taking action.

As always, Brian was silent, at least in his own way, he didn't make any notes to tell Cleia or Desire what was on his mind. The truth of it was that what was on his mind was taking care of this issue that was plaguing Magnolia. So when the decision was made to go defeat it, he took out his lacrima bullet gun and loaded up the magazines before holstering them. He also knew that his spells would be recharged by the time that they got there and so he paced himself as much as he could on the way there.

At last when he was standing beside Cleia and Desire he waited for the sign to attack.

Cleia and Brian arrived, primed and ready for action. At Cleia's question, before Desire could respond, the man said with an incredulous tone, "Really? Are these the mages you said will help us out?" Desire pouted and gave the man a sullen look. "Well, if you're going to stand there and be negative, why don't you just go somewhere you'll be more useful?" she shot back. Without another word the man ran off. Desire turned to the two Fairy Tail mages.

"Okay, guys," she said, pointing in the direction of the square, "that thing I planted is still there, and it seems to have grown further out to reach the bank, where I suppose a raid is being attempted. I suppose that once we cut the tree down, we should be able to cruise on easy street." So saying, she turned and began heading towards the square, but no sooner had she started moving, than three spore-like structures began growing out of the earth rapidly. In time, they would metamorphose into three tree-men, quite similar to what Cleia and Brian had met on their way to the guild hall. The creatures then turned to face the three mages, as their limbs transformed into jagged weapons.

"Ewww... what are those?" Desire asked, taking a step backwards. She obviously had no idea what they were, but only a fool would not be certain that they were not there to help.

The frightened man whom Pinkie had stopped for information was apparently not impressed by Cleia and Brian. That was the annoying thing about most people. It was only when a musclebound chunk with hardly any neck to boot came swaggering in that such people were expected to be reassured? Cleia folded her arms and gave him a very cool gaze, but Pinkie handled the situation expertly enough, in Cleia's opinion.

That having been taken care of, they could now focus on the monster tree. As Pinkie suggested her plan, Cleia added, "If we can manage to attack its roots and kill it from there, we can rest assured that it won't be growing back, unless its not a tree. Let's hope its branches are too busy at the bank..."

The words were barely out of her mouth, when some plant growth intercepted their progress. The growths developed into three 'Woodies', who as it seemed, were much the same as the Woody she fought before joining up with Brian at the guild. She sighed in slight frustration.

"I've seen something like these ones before. In fact, it acted as a form of distraction to keep me from getting to the guild. I was able to take it down by dealing significant damage to the chest region. Destroy any other part and they'll grow right back."

She had reduced the level of her voice to almost a whisper, so that only her allies would be privy to the information she was giving. "Oh, one more thing: beware their mouths, and humor, if the one I fought is anything to go by. Just ignore most of what they say and focus on destroying them, or they could jibe you into frustration."

Brian listened to Cleia's instructions and went to what she was saying right away. His spells had already cooled down enough to be used again but he decided that he would use a different tactic. He switched his spell gun to his left hand and moved his lacrima pistol to his right hand. The plan was that he would use the accuracy of his right hand to his advantage and given that his lacrima pistol needed no recharging that also gave him the advantage of rapidity.

Closing in one the base of the tree, he took aim and fired his lacrima bullets at the base of the trunk. He didn't know if that would do it so he brought up his spell gun and began to charge up the spell.

At last the magic circle erupted from the end of the barrel and he pulled the trigger.

"Simple Shot!" He cried out in his mind while the spell erupted from his weapon.

Desire listened intently to the shorter mage who informed the group that she had fought something like the three lignified monsters which were advancing on them. So their weakness was their chest region, it seemed. Desire was glad for the advantageous information, nodding her head until Cleia talked about them having flapping mouths. She made an amused sound, like a mixture between a chuckle and a giggle. "No worries, Shortstuff," the Take Over mage replied, stepping forwatd to meet her own opponent, "I don't think that piece of mossy decrepitude will be able to out-talk me. You guys should see me on one of my good days--"

Desire's speech was cut short as she narrowly dodged the slash of the wooden monster that faced her. She considered with irritation that unless she used her magic, there was nothing she had to cut the monster with. Maybe when this was all done, she would buy a good blade, and learn how to use it. Well, that meant she'd have to find someone who was decent with a blade to teach her how to swing the weapon, as learning it by herself would probably take longer. Using her whip would not help, because the weapon would probably get entangled by the tree-freak before her, and she would have to discard the whip, or discard a number of internal organs. Neither seemed acceptable. She kicked the tree, using her kick to propel herself away from the monster. It seemed rather solid, but it was slow, and as such, Desire was hopeful that she could take it out.

On Brian's part, the lachryma bullet struck the base of the creature's trunk, splitting bark, but not halting the animated tree. However, it seemed the creature seemed to have an idea of what Brian wanted to do, and it was not willing to have that. The second shot would have killed the tree, had it not twisted to one side, although a decent quantity of wood scattered into the air with a loud bang. Twisting back into position, the woody blade that made up what would pass off as the monster's left hand swung towards Brian's neck.

The tree-thing facing Cleia charged her, making a double swipe with both 'hands', aimed at her midsection. Whatever Cleia had seen before, these new Woody Johnnies seemed rather silent.

The Woodys seemed to be very quiet, as quiet as trees, which was a rather good thing, in Cleia's opinion. At least, those rotten comments that made little to no sense would not be interjecting into every step of the battle. They were all for business, though, as one of them promptly tried to cut Pinkie down. The girl showed some decent amount of agility, and managed to get herself out of harm's way. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that Brian had taken her suggestion and aimed his shots at its torso. Its dodging the next attack implied that their torsos were still their weak points. Hopefully, she could take this one down fast...

It moved first, two scythe like blades coming towards her sides, certainly aiming to cut her in two, or some other grisly idea. Cleia jumped clean over the blades, her hands raised as runes frenetically spiraled around her wrists. By the time she had attained the maximum height of her jump, the runes had formed a long glowing scythe. Her descent would place gravity on her side, and thus, she brought down the scythe with all her might towards the Woody's shoulder.

Jumping gave her two advantages: one, she could use the gravity of her falling to her advantage, as she was currently doing; secondly, if she had chosen to duck, she risked getting a haircut she was not interested in. And she had chosen to attack the shoulder, because attempting to cut through the head meant that the blade would have a longer way to go before getting to the Woody's chest. A well placed diagonal slice would sever it clean in two and get the job done. If it tried to attack her while she was attacking, she would still strike it first and disallow its attack to continue. Of course, it would probably try to block, a move that she was already making a strategy for.

Brian was really starting to hate this creature. He thought to himself while he was ducking behind a large chunk of debris that when this is over he would start eating more vegetables in his own twisted form of revenge on this kind of plant life.

While resting, he holstered his spell gun and switched the lacrima bullet gun to his right hand given that his strongest spell still needed time to recharge.

With his breath back, he rolled out from behind the debris and made a charge towards the trunk of the tree. He kept firing and firing while getting closer. All the while more tendrils of the monster kept getting in his way.

"Damn you," He thought as each tendril kept getting in the way of his shots.

Brian was lucky to get behind the debris in time; the moving tree would have torn a few fragments of flesh off his neck. The plant monster, imagining that Brian would probably have a trap waiting for it, if it attempted coming round the debris pile, chose to create a little distance between itself and the gun mage, which it soon discovered to be a poor idea. As Brian charged out and began firing at the monster, it began closing distance as well, while attempting to protect its trunk with the vines that sprouted from its body. Unfortunately for the monster, the amount of vines it could regenerate was not infinite, and soon openings began to show in its defense....

In the meantime, Cleia's dodge and reprisal attack took her opponent by surprise. But it was not surprised enough to allow her downward stroke to simply strike home and waste it. Taking a step backwards, the creature held up one of its limbs, the said limb thickening considerably just before the rune-created scythe cut into it. The blade sliced clean through, but lost enough momentum to cut through the monster's torso, instead sticking in the creature's shoulder, as it readied its second limb to strike.

Desire, for her part, was aware that there was no point in being shy with her powers anymore; she'd already told the Fairy Tail mages that she was part demon. The only thing was she had always feared losing control when she allowed herself to access her powers. But if she didn't, the battle would probably go south for her. Tapping into her demonic powers, her arms transformed, just as her woody opponent attempted swinging both bladed limbs at her head. Quickly stepping forward, Desire held up her arms, parrying both attacks, before making an attack of her own, a double cross-slash at the torso of the monster with her claws. Seeing how she had blocked the creature's attack, its limbs were on either side of Desire, thus making it unable to defend against her attack, which tore through its torso, the lifeless husk of the plant-monster falling to the earth.
