One of the best parts about traveling was that if you did it long enough, you eventually ended up with quite a bit of experience under your belt. Razia had only been traveling for a fairly short time, but she had already reached the point where she could generally find her way through Fiore without stopping to ask for directions. Of course it helped that she usually didn’t have a specific destination in mind, but this time she did. Poinsettia, the home of Blue Pegasus. Her reason was the same as always. Try to meet some mages, learn a thing or two about magic, maybe schmooze her way into a guild, and check out the book stores for some hidden exquip secrets. After some time, the exquip mage eventually reached Poinsettia. She was weary from her journey. Both body and mind were exhausted from the tiresome repetition of putting one foot in front of the other. Maybe she needed to get a companion to travel with? That would certainly cut down on the monotony of traveling, but that just brought her back to square one. She wasn’t in a guild, and that was the easiest way to fix that issue. Blue Pegasus, from what she’d read, didn’t strike her as the ideal fit. They were known as wishful thinkers and pacifists. She fancied herself a realist and a soldier. Still, she could probably learn something useful from them at least. Blue Pegasus would not be her first stop though, not by quite a bit. As tired as she was, the first stop was relaxing somewhere with a nice cold drink. She asked around in a shop about where a good place to go might be, and Jason’s seemed to be the place to go. A few more minutes of walking were all that was required before she found the bar. Razia let herself in and made her way up to the counter. Sooner or later, someone would notice her and ask what she wanted to drink right? Bars were a fairly new experience for her… so she really hoped that was the right course of action. If not? Oh well, it’d all work itself out eventually. |

Jason was happy. For the first time since the Inquisition, Jason was happy with his place in the world. It'd been months since he had engaged in battle, months since he had relied on his skills as an assassin. Jason's life was boring, no terrorists to take down, no pirates to drown. Just him and his bar. Jason topped off a drink. His teammate and employe Jaxus was on vacation, something about a guild assignment, which left Jason alone with his business. The bar was rather civil tonight, no drunks starting fights, and no creeps creeping. It was the middle of the day, the lunch time rush had just passed and things were calm. The mid day sun burned bright in the sky, and filled the bar with natural light. Jason gazed out the window, lost in thought, when somebody walked through the door. A young women, walked in. Jason's new customer had hair that was just a little darker than his own, and eyes that seemed to mirror his own. Her iris' were golden brown, and seemed to shimmer in the light. Jason smirked a bit at the women appearance, she was probably the prettiest female to ever grace his bar with her presence. The women walked up to the bar and stood in silence, like many newcomers did. Jason had over two years of experience under his belt, and he knew when somebody was new to the bar scene. Jason turned towards her and walked over, placing his elbows on the counter and leaning over so that the two were face to face. "Can I get you something to drink?" Jason asked the customer calmly and in a rehearsed voice. Jason figured he'd wait until she ordered to make small talk, he didn't want to come off as creepy. Jason looked the blonde haired women right in the eyes, which may have made her a little uncomfortable, but Jason couldn't look away. It wasn't often he came across golden eyes people, the only other person he knew of with eyes like his was back at the church. Jason wasn't wearing his glasses, he usually only wore them when he was going to be outside for long periods of time. The light mage sat and waited for an answer...... |

Mmm. She could work with this. Well dressed and neat on that front, but hair that looked like it had been expertly styled by a tornado. And that voice… it was strangely inviting. His words were clearly just a default greeting, but they came off as somehow welcoming. ”Yes, yes you can. Whiskey off the top shelf. Neat.” She plopped a decently sized pouch of jewels on the counter. All of the hard work of helping people did come with a monetary reward more often than not. That let her splurge on the good stuff once in a while. After a long trip, that was exactly what she wanted. ”That much I know I have to pay for.” She stepped up and sat on one of the stools as she waited for her drink. ”What about information though?” Razia paused, lingering just long enough for this man to think she might be done speaking, but then she continued. It was just short enough to not be rude or awkward. Instead, it just built up the importance of her words. She wanted him to actually focus on them, and not just disregard them as the idle ramblings of another customer. Well placed pauses tended to work wonders towards that goal. It was only once it was clear she had him in her figurative grasp that she spoke again. ”Why don’t you tell me about yourself? I do hope that much is free.” There was an obvious hint of suggestion in her tone, but nothing so overt as to be mistaken for bluntness. Her words were carefully chosen and nuanced, as if they were selected by a playwright. Was she actually interested in him? Maybe. How he dealt with that question would be the main determining factor there. Good looking men were a dime a dozen in Fiore, but good looking men with brains were quite the rarity. ”I’d imagine it’s normally the other way around in your job, so why don’t you tell me your story while I enjoy my drink. I’m in far more of a listening kind of mood anyway.” |

Jason backed up as the women placed her order, whiskey from the top shelf, simple enough. The lady dumped a fist full of jewels on the counter, obviously attempting to pay for the drink. Jason raised his hand in a stopping gesture and smiled. "First ones on me" Jason said calmly and cheerfully. Jason turned around and grabbed a bottle of whiskey off of his shelf, still listening to the customer. Information, she wanted information? Jason let his smile vanish while he was still facing the wall. Had somebody found him? One of his old contacts? What kind of information did she want? Jason finished pouring the drink and turned around, his face bright and cheery again. "Depends on what you want to know" Jason responded to her slyly, trying to figure out her intentions. Thankfully the women meant well. Jason leaned over the counter towards her, taking his original position once more. She was just flirting with him, which put a real smile back onto Jasons face. "Where to begin? Well for starters I am a member of Blue pegasus" Jason commented, pausing for a brief moment. "I would tell you more but, I fear that'll open up an ever growing bag of demons" Jason finished his sentence, he didn't want to pour his heart out to a stranger, no matter how pretty she was. Jason took his eyes off of the girl for a moment to say goodbye to a leaving customer. He quickly focused the whole of his attention back onto her. "The name's Jason by the way. Jason Light" The light mage introduced himself, once again making eye contact with the women in front of him. "As far as my story goes, I think I'd rather show then tell" Jason loosened his bow tie and unbuttoned the top button on his collar. He then pulled the collar down far enough to expose a scar." I got this one while fighting cultists, fire mage gave me a run for my money" Jason said then redressed himself. Jason didn't usually tell people about his battles, and what ever scars they had left him with, but there was something about this girl that made him think he could trust her. Jason hoped he was placing his trust in the right place while he waited for a response. |

Good looks, magic of some sort, and a gentleman to boot. Jason was passing with flying colors. The first drink being on the house was always a good move. Given that he was Jason, that meant it was directly on him. Others might have missed the move, but not Razia. That sly dog was buying her a drink. Strangely enough she was okay with it. Generally, she was the type to push away – or just outright punch – anyone that obviously treated her like a piece of eye candy, but she felt comfortable enough with him that she didn’t seem to mind. As for why that was, she honestly couldn’t say. Ah well. Might as well just enjoy herself while she can. She continued listening as Jason spoke, and watched just a bit too closely as he undid the top button of his shirt and showed off a wound on his chest. Her eyes betrayed her. If he was paying attention, it was fairly clear that her eyes were staring more at his muscles than his wound. Once he was done showing off, it was Razia’s turn. ”Blue Pegasus eh? I haven’t managed to find a place like that yet, but I’ve got a few tricks up my…” She pause mid sentence to glance back and forth at her own arms. ”Okay, so I’m not wearing sleeves, but I can do a few parlor tricks.” It was with those words that a deep purple swirls of energy coalesced into a dagger on the bar’s surface. The black dagger’s handle faced towards Jason, making it clear that there was no hostile intent. ”You showed me something I liked, so there’s a little piece of what I can do.” This time, the suggestiveness in her tone had crept up a notch. To be fair, that was partially because she found it kind to hit on a guy after he’d showed off his muscles… but it was just as much because Razia found herself rather enjoying the conversation. That was all too rare nowadays. Another pause, with much the same purpose as before. This time, it was punctuated by a calm sip from her glass of whisky. ”If you’re in Blue Pegasus, I imagine you’ve got a few good tricks besides knowing where to find the best whisky I’ve ever tasted. Any you feel like sharing?” ((Requip CD: 0/3)) |

Jason grinned, pretty and she had a sense of humor. Most of the women Jason had previously come into contact with were easy to woo, easy to flirt with. But this women, Jason didn't think simple flirting would work on her. The women commented about showing her something she liked, was she talking about his chest? The scar wasn't anything pretty so the only other conclusion Jason could make was that she was talking about his chest over all. Jason wasn't used to being hit on, but it was a welcomed change. The fact that this woman was hitting on him spoke volumes about what kind of person she was. Jason raised an eyebrow. Purple swirls of magic came together to form a whole dagger. Jason clapped slowly. Exquip, a magic Jason was no stranger to. "Well... I don't know-" Jason disappeared, leaving a yellow flash in his place. He reappeared in the stool next to the female, his back against the counter. "How I'll ever top that" Jason's sentence was interrupted for a moment by his teleportation spell, but it made for a good trick. "I use light magic" Jason commented, refusing to reveal how that teleportation spell worked. Jason smiled at his partner in flirting. "You know...." Jason spoke softly. "I never did get your name?" This statement was Jason's way of asking for her name without making things awkward. Jason waved at another customer who was leaving. Most of the people who attended his bar were friends he had met while he was preparing their drink. Jason thought it was better for business if he befriended his clients, it kept them coming back and gave him a steady stream of business. Jason didn't value the relationships he had with many people, they meant almost nothing to him. Jason genuinely enjoyed the company of few people, maybe he'd be able to add this woman to that very short list. Jason kept his smile, and waited for the lady to give him her name. |

Applause. It was polite and well controlled, like the kind you’d hear after someone hit a really good shot playing golf. That’s what the teleportation netted him. It wasn’t full on amazing, given that he’d only covered a couple of feet, but that was likely just the tip of his abilities in that field. Razia’s applause matched her reaction rather genuinely. It was a good trick, and one she wanted to figure out, but it didn’t knock her socks off. She’d read about the theory enough to know it was something that most talented mages could figure out if their type of magic allowed it. Then again, he was a light mage. It was also possible that there was another explanation at work. However, exploring that needed to wait a moment, as she had been reminded of her omission. ”Where are my manners? Razia Brasima.” She turned in her stool slightly to face him, and offered a bit of a bow. Given the height difference, and that she was seated, she didn’t need to go far to get the effect she wanted. Her bow ceased when her head was just below his waistline. ”At your service.” With a wink, she returned to a normal seated posture, though it was quite a bit more relaxed than usual. It wasn’t often that she actually made use of her appearance, but she was having far too much fun with Jason to not push the envelope a bit. ”So, light magic eh? I could see actual teleportation being possible with that, but I must admit, I’ve slacked off on reading too much about that type of magic. Perhaps you moving that fast is just a trick of the light, and I’m just talking to an illusion?” There was only one way to be sure, and she’d made a pretty damn good excuse. Light magic, obviously, could only fool the eyes. Light had no weight, so it was unlikely that light magic could fool her sense of touch. Knowing that, her hand reached over towards Jason’s upper arm and gave his bicep a playful squeeze. ”Looks like you win this round.” Her hand lingered on his arm just a touch longer than was needed to confirm he was real. ”I think I’m okay with my consolation prize though.” Another sip of whisky found its way to her lips. It had been some time since she’d been this forward. Was it going to pay off, or was she playing too easy to get? |

Jasons heart skipped a beat. Razia's fingers squeezed his arm, and he couldn't help but flex a bit to impress her. Jason couldn't wipe the smile off of his face. This was the first time Jason had felt this way around a girl, most of the time he just led them on with no real intentions of dating them, but Razia was different. Jason resisted the urge to touch her cheek with his hand. "You really want to know my secret?" Jason spoke at almost a whisper, looking Razia in the eye. "I turn into light" Jason stated bluntly. "And I create constructs, not illusions" Jason gave into his urge. He reached for her cheek and attempted to touch her cheek. Jason didn't know what he was feeling, but he did know that he really wanted to kiss this woman. It was crazy, they had only just met after all. Jason pulled his hand back and balled it into a fist, what was he doing? Getting close to people was a big no no for him. Usually they just got in the way, and got hurt by his enemies. But Jason didn't have any more enemies right? He only had friends, every foe he had come across after his departure from the church were either in jail or six feet under. Jason didn't go for it, he knew the difference between flirting and trying to have a relationship. He just smiled once more, and just stared at her. He looked a little longingly at her, but he didn't dare act on his emotions. Jason didn't want to ruin the good thing he had going, making a move may just cut his conversation with Razia short. "Your eyes are beautiful" Jason commented, which was probably a little cheesy but it was better then awkward silence. Right? |

Oh yes. She was quite okay with her consolation prize. He was trying to impress her. A little flex was obvious enough when your hand was already on someone. The slight movement of the arm as the muscle contracts. The change in density as his bicep firmed up. Both of those were slight changes, but they were ones that the exquip mage had a very personal appreciation for. Once her hand dropped back down, he offered a secret. ”Oh but I do want to know.” It was a line that would usually be accompanied with dripping amounts of sarcasm, but instead was genuine. She did want to know his secret… or at least how his magic worked. Though she wasn’t making it too obvious, Razia enjoyed the scholarly aspect of learning about magic quite a bit. Believe it or not, but her interest in his magic actually came ever so slightly before her interest in seeing him without his shirt on. Once he had explained his magic, his hand reached out for her. But it stopped short. She could tell he was conflicted easily enough. It wasn’t just the customer and employee line being crossed either. Something far more serious was at play here. His eyes held a worry in them that wasn’t for himself. These were the same eyes that she had when she fought to keep innocent people safe. Too many times, she’d seen a gaze like that reflected back at her off the surface of an enemy’s blade. There was no fooling her about what was worrying the mind behind those eyes. Her hand found his, and gave it a tender squeeze. Her eyes stared back at him brimming with confidence. She didn’t know the details, but she was damn confident that she knew exactly what she was getting herself into. Her eyes blazed with that stubborn resolve, and it was clear from that one look alone that she wasn’t the type of person Jason would need to spend all his time protecting. She was a mage, and she could take care of herself if needed. After a moment like that, with their eyes locked, neither moving, Jason spoke once more. As he spoke, Razia pulled his hand back on the course it had tried to take a moment ago. It was guided back to the woman’s face, and she held it there gently. She leaned up, closer to the light mage. ”Ya know, I was just thinking the same thing.” It was clear what she wanted. She’d taken a cheesy line and ran with it. She’d gotten closer, and tilted her head just enough to be inviting. ”Come a little closer so we can both appreciate the little details.” It was an offer, not an order. If he made a move, she would let him. |

Jason never wanted it to end. The touch of Razia's hand on his, the way they looked at each other, everything was perfect. Razia gave him the green light, and he went ahead full speed. Jason placed his hand on her cheek and kissed her. Jason figured that if there was a heaven he was in it. Her lips were soft, the softest thing ever. They tasted like whiskey, which Jason didn't mind, his own mouth probably tasted like what ever form of alcohol he had drunk earlier that day. Jason wanted to do more. But then he remembered that, other people attended his restaurant. Jason reluctantly pulled his lips off of hers, his face was just a tad bit red with embarrassment. Around them people looked in a mix of awe and awkward dis taste. Jason smiled like a kid who had just gotten his favorite ice cream. He looked at Razia, speech less. "Wow..." Jason resisted the urge to kiss her again. Jason had half a mind to just close the bar to give him and Razia some privacy, but that was probably a little drastic. "You kiss as good as you look" Jason commented stupidly. All doubts Jason had left his head, and thought of kissing her again took their place. The way Razia looked at him, the way she spoke to him, it was reassuring to Jason. Jason didn't have to worry about losing her, she was capable of protecting her self. Jason didn't believe in love at first site, but there was no other way to explain the events that had taken place thus far. For the first time in a long time the only thought in Jason's head was how amazing Razia was. He hoped she thought the same..... |
