Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

(Over reacted with the fangs. It was in the pictures here . Wasn't that sharp just noticeable)

Everyone was sure on edge, but the man did reveal an important thing. The siting of monsters were near the lake. Now Syeena was not about to just take the man's word at face value since he was a stranger and such. Hex didn't like him. Emily didn't like him... but...

"Sure! Let’s go check out those nasty monsters. Our buddy here had a good suggestion!" Emily had suddenly suggested.

Syeena tried not to reveal her distaste for the sudden reversal. She sure changed her mind quickly, Syeena thought as rolled her eyes behind her glasses. They were REALLY suppose to go to Grandmother's House. But... they were asked to handle any dangerous creatures that were near the road. It would be bad if they did the job and miss any possible threat.

With a sigh, Syeena agreed they should take a look. "Alright, but lets not take too long. We still have a job to do," Syeena replied. Hearing her, Hex got away from the man and fluttered back with her black wings towards Syeena and Emily. Syeena gave the man a look and nodded her head. "Guess thanks are in order. Thank you, sir," she said curtly.

The man turned and smiled to her. "My pleasure... By the way, my name is Free. If you need me out there just holler," he said with a thumb pointed to himself.

Syeena felt a small chill up her back at his gaze towards her, especially at that magic eye of his. "Riiiight... anyway, see ya," she said. Emily and Hex were already on their way towards the lake and Syeena quickly followed.

As they left behind the bend of trees and off the beaten path-- the man, Free soon let out a chuckle of his own. He grinned as he looked down the path further. He knew the house they were talking about. They seemed like strong and spunky girls, but perhaps he could have some fun with them after all.

A mischievous plan formed in the man's mind as he quickly made his way down the path, which eventually would lead to Grandmother's house.

Meanwhile, Syeena and Emily had reached the break in the trees to find the giant lake in the woods. There were in fact some monsters, or rather some feral wolves, slimes, and giant bugs! Common threats in any forest. Looks like they could fight off some after all. (Free fight here. You can write what you want involving the monsters at the lake Moon)

Finally, after longer than Emily wanted to think about, she was going to be able to fight. The thought of doing wanton murder with no real consequences was incredibly exciting for the young killer. There were no pesky authorities to detain her, no morality holding her back and nothing that anyone could do to stand in her way. Blood’s Tear came free of its sheath with a metallic song that set Emily’s heart racing. One of the giant insects lunged at her and she dodged, slamming her foot down on the ground to open a crack in it.

The giant beetle’s spindly leg became entrapped in the crack and as it struggled, the redheaded killer slammed her dagger into the exposed section below its jaws. There was a horrible, high pitched noise and the creature flailed around before it began to weaken as its lifeblood began to pour out in a strange sticky mess.

One of the wolves lunged for Syeena. Emily shouted, “Behind you! A wolf!”

She spun and her hand fell naturally into the pouch that contained her throwing knives. One of them whipped out and struck the wolf firmly in the flank, causing it to check its progress on attacking Syeena. The androgynous young woman was rushed by a slime and she whirled and slashed across it with the razor edge of her dagger, puncturing its outer membrane, as it came to a halt and began leaking its essence out all over the ground.

One of the wolves made a lunge at Emily, but she turned the soil to sand under its paws, watching it sink in as she drove forward and thrust her black, ripping blade into its chest cavity and punctured its heart, killing it at once. A mad grin spread across her features as she was splattered in hot, dark blood. It was here that she was in her deadly and murderous element.

Now she came to Syeena’s aid, hacking and slashing through whatever got in her way. She opened up rifts in the ground, made mud and sand out of it and generally caused as much mayhem and death as possible on her way.

Syeena was not too worried, but she didn't really wanted to fight too much. As the wolf tried to jump her from behind, she simply swished her cloak and slid out of the way, followed by a kick to the wolf. not using any of her magic just yet, she kept her moves swift. Of course Hex was more than willing to have some fun.

"MRREEEOWWW!!" she meowed and slashed at a slime monster nearby, making it splatter into goo.

Jumping up in her red cloak, she sat herself upon the tree branch. "I'll let you handle this Emily. Let's see what you can do. I'll be nearby if you need help," she said and observed from the height of the tree limb. After all, she was there to oversee this young member of Grimore Heart.

Meanwhile...

The strange man, Free, had made his way down the path and approached the small house in the center of the woods. It was Grandmother's house no doubt as he crept up towards the door. He was unsure how granny would be, but he had a plan to get closer to the girls who had passed through the forest. With a cunning smrirk on his face, he knocked on the door.

"Who is it...?" a faint voice answered softly.

"Ahem..." Free said, and worked to make his voice lighter. "Um... its us, grandmother. We are little girls from town, hear to deliver goodies for you... may we come in?" he said, his voice a rather squeaky and high pitch tone. It was rather pathetic, but still...

"Oh, my. You're voice sounds horrible. Come in, dearieis. The door is open," the grandmother replied .

His grin grew as he opened the door and crept inside. Moments later there was the sounds of a struggle, and then the house grew calm and quiet! What did the sneaky man do to Granny?!

Syeena watched as Emily fought the monsters. She kept an eye on them, and Hex backed her up with claws, wings and bad luck magic to inflict bad luck on her enemies.

There was no chance that Emily was going to pass up the opportunity to massacre whatever was in front of her if she was actually being encouraged to do it. She was pleasantly surprised by the way that Hex could fight for a small flying cat and didn’t mind having her around. Now they had to turn their attention to the remaining creatures. The slime beings had been dispatched along with two of the three wolves and one giant beetle. It left them with one more wolf and two beetles.

The wolf was more interesting so Emily stuck it with one of her throwing daggers in the front leg to slow it down before moving in and melting the ground into mud around it. As it struggled to escape, she finished it off with Blood’s Tear. The black blade was now dripping with gore and in that state it lived up to its name perfectly. The beetle came skittering towards her and she threw her remaining knife which glanced off the armour and was rendered useless. She shrugged and turned the soil into sand under its feet, rolling underneath and getting ready to strike its exposed underside when one of its legs came down and pinned her.

She tried to shift it but it was too heavy and strong so she shouted, “Syeena! A little help here!”

Seeing the fight start, Syeena remained in her tree. In fact she took her time to pick some flowers for 'Grandmother' hoping to brighten her day while Emily ran about in a fighting frenzy against the low level monsters that roamed the woods. However, she had gotten herself into some trouble it seemed. She called for help. But she got help from someone unsuspected.

"Mreow!!" Hex flew in. Upon her Exceed black wings, she swooped in and scratched the beast in the face. Stunned and hurt, the monster moved its leg back, letting Emily get out in time. As she did, Hex swooped in and grabbed Emily. The cat lifted the younger girl up easily and fluttered with her in the air away from the monster. "Missed by a whisker," she quipped.

From afar, Syeena had a good line of sight. She remained hidden by her hood but as she raised a hand, she was holding one of her holding cards. Deciding to test out one of her new spells, she focused her magic to the card. An aura of darkness slowly glowed around her gard, bathing it in violet power. With a flick of her wrist, she threw the card at the monster and it struck it near the chest. The dark energy around the card imploded upon contact, delivering a mighty blast against the creature along with the card's strike.

As the beast fell dead, Syeena hopped out of the tree and brushed some of her hair out of the way like in a subtle performance.

"Oh, don't be a show off Syeena!" Hex called as she carried Emily in the air. Slowly, now that all the monsters were gone, she flew back down towards her and once within ground range, let go of Emily so she could walk again. "What was that, anyway?"

Syeena merely relaxed and looked to them both. "Just a little trick I call 'Witch Weapon', coats an object with darkness magic. good for another boost of power. " she said casually. She held the small collection of flowers she gathered and placed them in the basket. "Anyway, we wasted enough time. Let's head to granny's house. "

With that, Syeena turned to return to the road.

It didn't take them long to get through the trees and back to the main road. They passed the tree where they met the strange man Free and were on their way down he path. At the time, Hex chose to sit upon Emily's head, enjoying the girl's company as they soon came into view of the small red tiled house in the forest.

"Well, its not made of gingerbread so I think we are in the right place," Syeena commented in jest and approached the house.

They approached the house and saw the door. Exchanging looks, they knocked on the door and awaited to hear someone. No one answered.

"Um... Hello? Anyone home?" Syeena called out.

Inside though, someone they knew were inside. Hearing the girls-- Free, panicked. He had 'gotten rid of' the grandmother and was trying to think of what to do. So he found something for a disguise and hid.

"C-come in dearies... I been waiting for you," the voice answered them.

Syeena turned to Emily. Neither one had no idea what was inside, but Syeena wanted to be sure if she was ready to go inside.

The shock of being lifted into the air and carried along by something the size of Hex was odd for Emily. It was one of the few times that she could genuinely say that she was shocked by an event. It was also one of the most thrilling sensations that the redhead had ever experienced and she actually laughed a little as Hex propelled her along and brought her down.

She caught Syeena’s eye and smiled for a moment as she said, “That might have been showing off but it was incredible! You must have such power to do tricks like that. My magic’s untrained and weak. I hope that one day I can use powers like you’ve got. I’d destroy whatever got in my way!”

Once they were on their way, Emily drew Blood’s Tear and twirled the knife around as they walked, enjoying the look of the blade and reliving the experiences that spattered it in blood. She kept feeling the satisfying resistance of flesh against the serrations of the knife and picturing the arterial spray as the wolf she’d killed pumped out its life. It was something that would fuel her dreams for weeks to come. That is, of course, until something even more gory happened in the course of their travels.

As they neared the house, Emily looked at Syeena and rolled her eyes at the bad joke as she said, “Really? That’s the best you could do?”

Now as they approached the door and a strange voice rang out, Emily caught Syeena’s gaze and moved her black knife into a more purposeful position for an attack. The girl whispered, “Okay...let’s go in….be ready for anything!”

"Oh relax... I don't think its anything too bad,"Syeena said, encouraging Emily to put her dagger away for now. With that, Syeena opened the door and they stepped inside.

"I'm in here dearies... in the bedroom..." the voice spoke as they entered. The house was very simple. It was made of wood and brick-- small pictures on the walls, furniture and carpets. A fire was going in the kitchen and across the hallway was the living room. It was a rather small house but had a basement, judging from the door and stairs that led up. Furthermore, there were two more rooms-- one of which the voice came from.

HEx walked in, not really caring if the old woman was welcoming of animals or not. If they were lucky they could come in and out easy enough. Still, something seemed off... why did the room look a little disarray. As if there was a struggle? Perhaps they were being paranoid as they made their way into the bedroom.

Finally, they reached the bedroom-- and looked to what was there. In the bed, covered up to the face was 'granny'. They could barely see her as she was covered with the covers and wore the bonnet over her head. "Hello. So good to see such sweet young ladies-- er i mean children come to visit me," the person said.

But the true idenity was possible to figure out. If they got closer, and looked harder-- the qualities they could see would be no different than the MAN who they bumped into on their way here!

"You have GOT to be kidding me," Hex whispered between them, low enough that the bed laid person didn't hear them. Syeena could possibly tell about it too... it was nothing like they would expect.

This was NOT Grandmother... however, might as well catch him in the act.

"Why hello, Grandmother..." Syeena greeted, a hint of sarcasm in her voice with "Grandmother" , to tell Emily the hint-- play along! "We came at the request of the care agency. We have brought you flowers, and food and are here to help you in anyway we can."

There was a deep cough to the person's voice-- as he kept himself covered, still pretending to be an elderly woman. "How very kind of you... I haven't been feeling all too well to cook ... I do... would love something to eat..."

Clear desire was in that last statement. It seemed the 'wolf in sheep's clothing' was indeed hungry.

Kicking the ball off, Hex quickly released her wings once more as she hovered up and over the bed. She could tell this was not a grandma but played along. "Oh, Grandma... what big ears you have... hehe..." the cat meowed.

The person's ears were clearly visible, so the person readjusted-- trying to hide further in the covers. Meanwhile Syeena observed and kept ready all the same. "Why, the better to hear you all, pretty pussy cat..." he said.

Emily didn’t care what Syeena said about Blood’s Tear. She was keeping the dagger easily within reach. Everything felt wrong about this place and she was trusting her instincts. The androgynous redhead was possibly a little paranoid but she’d avoided near misses by continuing to remain paranoid. They entered the dimly lit room and immediately Emily was uncomfortable. She didn’t like the way “grandmama” had the blanket pulled up to conceal herself or the tone in her voice. Hex confirmed her doubts and she realized that they were all going to have to play a game now, a game that might help them survive.

The way the old “woman” said eat was distinctly worrisome and now they decided they’d have to be cautious without making a single statement. It was as though they were starting to operate on a more visceral level that eschewed speech and relied on instinct. Emily did indeed play along as she said, “Well why don’t I go into the kitchen and cook you some dinner? Would you like that?”

She kept her hand on the black blade as she waited to hear what the answer might be from their odd grandmother. Whatever it was, she’d be ready to react to it.

(What? No "My what big eyes you have, grandma?" >< Come on )

"O-Oh no that's okay, dearie. The company is alll I could ask for -- ahem.." the person said.

Emily seemed to not catch the hint it seemed to what Hex and Syeena were going for. She could only keep herself from rolling her eyes, despite the cover of her glasses. However, as Syeena moved bout the room, she slightly placed one of her cards to the end of the doorframe of the room. A bit of assurance if something went wrong.

Still, Hex hovered over the 'grandma' while Emily , she was not sure what was going on. Syeena had hoped she would go "Grandma what big eyes you have," and shit like that. Seem she was a bit dense. Then again, Syeena did remind herself she was a younger girl.

"My what big EYES! you have, Grandma," SYeena commented, coming closer to the bed. However, the person there was not very smart-- as she could already see the strange magic pattern in his eye.

Free beneith the sheets was starting to sweat a bit as he lowered his eyelids a bit. "Um... why the better to see you , my dearies,"

Hex tried hard not to laugh as she fluttered above the scene. It was obvious who this was, but they were going to try and shove him out of the hiding place. "And what big hands you have," Hex meowed.

Free was not liking the cat as he kept hidden. "Why the better to hug you my dears! Come closer..."

And finally, Syeena sprung the big line. "My Grandmother," Syeena said, now leaning over the bed to get a good look at Free from behind her glasses. "What great big teeth you have!"

"Um.... why the better to... the better to..." he hesitated, not sure what to say. Oh damn it, Free thought, stumped at what to reply with.

Seems they had threw him.

Now what were they supposed to do? Emily didn’t want to get close to the creature that was there, but they couldn’t risk anything too dangerous. She also wondered why anyone would be stupid enough to actually approach any more closely. The redhead had also realized where she’d heard this whole schtick before. It had taken a while because she’d hated fairy tales as a child, but now she knew the formula. When their little old “granny” was having trouble remember the lines, Emily grinned wickedly and said, “Oh come on ‘Grandma’! Surely you know what comes next? The better to EAT you with!”

She laughed aloud and added, “You might as well uncover yourself, you big faker. If you don’t know that one, you’re clearly clueless. In fact, I’ll give you a little incentive! If you don’t show yourself, one of my throwing knives is going to make friends with your body, so I’m giving you to the count of ten.”

As she started to count down, she hoped that her target would be stupid or obstinate enough to actually resist. She loved the sound that one of her knives made as it thumped into flesh and she’d gladly repeat that noise as many times as possible. However, she didn’t want to tip her hand and show her total bloodlust right away. Even Grimoire Heart might think twice about someone who killed so easily for the sake of killing. She found this impulse hard to resist but she was curbing it for now. Strategy was important and her strategy had to be preserving her enemy for at least a little longer.
