Mission Info! Outside the city of Poinsettia, Syeena waited-- clad in her incognito disguise of 'the Fool'. She had to be more on guard in this part of the city since more prying eyes were around. It was strange how her home town, and home to the Umbra Witches, shared their homes with the same light Guild Blue Pegasus. Still, neither one of them clashed, likely from the more neutral position of the clan of witches. Either way, Syeena was there on a job... and an odd job at that. Normally, being a temporary delivery person for a nurse service was not something she would do. However, there were two reasons why. One, her aunt requested she did. Why, because the elderly woman was a friend to the Umbra Witches, so she owed her respect to her. That much she understood, but she didn't like having to take on the persona of the more different version of herself. The second was, to help out a younger member to Grimore Heart. She had been asked to help someone green behind the ears get settled in by taking them on a job. This seemed like a decent one. Still, things could get boring quickly with just going over the river and through the woods. Right now, Syeena was waiting outside a large tree-building where the nurse center was, where she was to wait the original employer and her new friend from her guild. On a nearby tree limb of the building, the black cat Exceed companion pacing around back and forth. "Where is this rookie we are waiting for? Remind me why we are playing babysitter for an old lady and a kid?" Hex said in her usual sassy attitude. "Because we are paying our respect and dues to those in need. I know its not glamorous but bare with it. Besides, a job is a job. My new gear won't pay for itself," Syeena replied to the cat. With her glasses covering her watchful eyes, she looked around for any sign of the person she was searching for. Edited by Zaber, May 4 2015, 03:21 AM.

Emily was rather over-excited for this test of her skills. It was necessary for her to establish herself as someone serious and worthy of consideration. Although, she had to admit, the description of the mission was rather lacklustre. All she had to do was basically look after some old crone and a child, but anything to help her on her path to power was acceptable. She made her way through Poinsettia to the rendezvous with someone who'd apparently be dressed as "The Fool" made famous by Tarot decks everywhere. Once she got out of the gates, Emily spotted her companion right away. In the get-up she was wearing, it would have been impossible. Of course, the Exceed cat flying around made identification even more straightforward. The androgynous redhead marched up to her new companion and in a stage-whisper asked, "Are you...my contact? Y'know...for the mission..." It felt odd being so secretive, but it had been emphasized to Emily that she had to be cautious with this mission, so here she was acting like she thought a spy ought to act and whispering away and glancing around furtively. |

(You wouldn't know what its called. She just looks like a nerdy girl with glasses) Syeena rested in her jeans and long sleeved striped shirt and vest. She leaned against the base of the tree-house as her gaze was down, her glasses covering her expression. However, someone approached. A young girl seemingly a few years younger than Syeena was if not younger. She turned to look at her, still her glasses obscuring her reaction. She saw the young mage and she seemed exactly like the person she was described to meet. Syeena sat up and looked to her. "I believe so. Don't worry, no need to be so secretive. I'm Syeena. Nice to meet you. Yeah, OUR GUILD, did send you this way to us." Up in the tree, Hex peered down at her. "Ello," Hex meowed, her witch's hat tilted slightly. "I'm Hex the Cat. Nice to meet cha!" she replied in a cheerful tone. Readjusting her glasses, Syeena looked to her. "I know this job isn't glamorous but I am also doing it as a favor to someone personal, so I hope you will bare with me. Anyway, let's go inside and get what we need. We will make this quick... or so I hope anyway," she said as she turned to the office doors. The inside was a wooden office setting, the wooden walls stood out but the furniture was completely modern as a series of desks and bookshelves were around, along with several baskets of items. An older woman, very beautiful with blonde hair saw them approach. "Ah hello there. Are you the ones who took the job?" she asked. At this time, Hex had gotten down from the tree and had entered the office with them. The little cat kept quiet as they talked. "Yes. We are here to help get the delivery to ... Grandmother, is it?" Syeena asked. Edited by Zaber, May 6 2015, 04:32 AM.

Emily put on her best ‘I’m a normal person, not a psychopath’ attitude and smiled in greeting at both of them. She said, “Well I’m happy to be working with you, Syeena. You too, Hex!” At Syeena’s comment regarding the relative glamour of the mission or lack thereof, the redhead replied, “Glamour doesn’t interest me. I just want to do as many missions as possible for the guild to gain experience and skill. I’m with you on trying to make it quick though.” They entered an office that contrasted sharply between clean, modern furniture and a more rustic appearance. Emily wasn’t one for making aesthetic comments but she liked it on some level that she couldn’t quite pin down. Her attention was refocused by the woman behind the desk as she also nodded in response to the query. The crimson-haired psychopath wondered who this Grandmother really was but, before she could open her mouth and ask, the blonde woman answered Syeena and said, “Yes. It is Grandmother. The package is over in the corner. Please take it and begin the mission. Thank you for agreeing to do this job. The Guild will appreciate it.” |

She made quick work to give them the package. "Just be warned-- there might be dangerous creatures on the road-- or so we heard. If you find any threats, please dispatch them or drive them away. Thank you" the woman said. Syeena bowed her head in acknowlegement and with that, turned to leave. They soon left the building with the basket of goodies. But before they left, the woman came running out. "Oh wait, before you go take this as well," she said. With a bundle in her arms, she handed it to Syeena. The glasses wearing woman took it and looked it over-- revealing a red cloak. She looked at it , a bit put off by the simple look of it and turned to the woman. "Um... do I have to wear it? Green is more my color," Syeena replied with a bit of hesitation. The woman shook her head. "Its traditional. The red cloat helps our elderly customers know you are from our agency. Please wear it?" she requested. From near her leg, Syeena could hear Hex laughing. With a brief glare at the cat, Syeena sighed and swung the cloak around her. She now looked strange wearing it but she pulled the hood up and held the basket. She really did look like a nerdy version of Little Red Riding Hood. If "The Fool Outfit' didn't make her look more silly, this definately did. Note to self, find a more low key disguise that isn't so off she thought as she prepared to go out. "Ready? Let's go!" Syeena said and with a wave of her cloak, they were off. The trip led them out of the city and right into the Lavander forest-- along the path that ran through it and soon they would find the beaten path less than a mile inward. There were several smaller rodes and makeshift bridges and things to lead to different spots. Their destination was further in the woods, near the center. It was a beautiful forest, the trees blossoming with all kinds of colors. It truly was an enchanted wood like any other. It was easy to feel so peaceful there you could loose sight of your path or your caution. Either way, Syeena, Hex and Emily were well on their way towards Grandmother's house. |

Emily wondered what in Fiore was going on with this outfit that Syeena had been forced to wear. There was some element that seemed distantly familiar, but she wasn’t sure where she’d seen it before. The redhead was tempted to laugh at her companion but she decided that alienating someone who might make the difference between life and death for her wasn’t a good idea. Instead she said, “I should be the one wearing that. It matches with my red hair! Anyhow, yeah, I’m ready to go!” Now they were in the forest and Emily’s senses were on high alert. The woman’s warning about dangerous creatures on the road had sunk in and her emerald eyes began scanning each tree, clump of moss and bush on the way for threats. She was unconcerned about other people’s well being but her own sense of protection was quite strong. She would keep herself alive at all costs and in this case, she’d protect Syeena because later on, Syeena might protect her. It was a strictly utilitarian connection but it was crucial for the redhead to maintain it. She was about to say something to her companion when the sound of a twig snapping nearby made her head lift up. There was a second snap closer and Emily placed her hand on Syeena’s shoulder. She said, “We’d better stop. I think someone or something is following us!” The sound had stopped but everything was too still. It was as though the rest of nature was also anticipating some sort of danger. There was a soft rustle in the bushes and Emily drew her black-bladed dagger with a hiss as she said, “Come on out! Whoever you are, come on out!” No response seemed forthcoming but a blazing red pair of eyes could been seen peering from the brush. Emily turned to Syeena and said,”Should we go in or force whatever it is out into the open?” Edited by MoonlitRain012, May 9 2015, 02:16 AM.

At the mention of her wanting one, the woman beamed happily. "Well that's just fine. We have one for you too as well,' the woman said and offered her the cloak as well. She then left, the two of them now wearing the rather hideous red cloaks-- though it did fit with Emily's hair and all. This time Hex fell over in laughter. The black cat was balling on the floor, her little paws waving in hystaria at the rediculus sight of the two girls in the red cloaks. "Bahahahah!! Can't... breathe!!Mreeowwwhahaha!" The black cat really was having a laughing fit, causing Syeena to frown at her feline companion. Once again into the woods... The forest was again quiet as they proceeded further, till Emily stopped them with a tap on the shoulder. She thought they were being followed. After a bit of looking, Hex also was on the prowl, looking around -- till they saw the object with beady red eyes! Hex gave a hiss but Syeena was quicker with her hand. With the flick of her wrist she threw something-- one of her Tarot cards into the bushes! The card struck the bush and whatever monsterous creature came out.... ... only to reveal it was a harmless little rabbit. It was white with a bushy tail. Just a simple adorable rabbit. "Oh my. Maybe its late... for a very important date," Hex replied with a smart-ass tone, quoting the rabbit form the classic Tale Alice in Wonderland. The cat easily approached the rabbit. The rabbit didn't feel threatened by the cat and the cat looked him over. "I think I will call him Mr. Wiggles." Syeena relaxed and put the extra cards she had away into the basket she was holding. "COme on, Hex. We should keep moving," she replied. "But I want a pet!" Hex replied, once again being sarcastic as she pawed gently at the rabbit. She turned her head to her cat friend and to Emily. "Hate to break it to you, cat, but you ARE the pet," she replied. Hex gave a 'duh?' sound as if shocked by that realization, especially since the smart ass cat was always more of a partner than an actual 'pet'. With that, the rabbit hopped off and they continued down the path. Luckily they didn't see anything up to this point and bored, Hex picked up the conversation. "I know! Let's sing a song," the cat said. She cleared her throat and Syeena rolled her eyes. The cat was obviously trying to either perk up the mood, or annoy them. And thus it began. "Into the woods, I have to go. I hate to leave. I hate to leave. I have to though. Into the woods, it's time and so I must begin my journey. Into the woods and through the trees. To where I am Expected ma'am," Hex sung, having a rather pleasant voice. Syeena had to admit, she was a charming singer just like her. As they walked, the cat swished her tail and bobbed her head. "Into the woods To Grandmother's house! The way is clear, The light is good, I have no fear, Nor no one should. Into the woods, And who can tell What's waiting on the journey--?" "Bit of a carefree cat you have there, little ladies," a gruff voice spoke up, interrupting Hex's song. Syeena looked in caution-- and Hex just straight up took a fright! "MRREEEOOWWW!!" The cat shrieked with a startled tone and jumped into the air. THe cat immediately deployed its Aero wings, and hovered in the air, the Exceed having been scared. The irony for someone who could be so sassy, would end up being so easily rattled. But now, they were no longer alone, as Syeena turned to the voice. Leaning against the trunk of a nearby tree and series of roots was a man. He was dressed oddly in a simpley pair of baggy pants and a black shirt. He had short hair and somewhat sharp ears. He was turned to his left, so they only saw half of him, but he slowly turned to greet them and gave them a smug smile. However, facing them, he did reveal an unusual feature-- a tattoo over the rim of his left eye, and the actual eye itself! Inside was a magic circle! "Good Afternoon, ladies," he said in a kind tone. Syeena kept quiet but she indeed kept her guard up. From the looks of him, he was no more odder than many she met in her guild of Grimore Heart. In fact, he was rather simple save for the tattoo-- but his eye really sort of made her cautious. He might very well be a mage like them. "MREEOW!! DOn't you know its rude to sneak up and interrupt a lady when she is singing!" Hex shouted, fluttering a few feet away from the man. He looked up at the cat, a puzzled look on his face. "Huh... what do you know? A flying cat. Don't see that every day." he replied. Syeena tilted her glasses and addressed him. "Can we help you, sir?" she said, her voice strained in the attempt to be polite to the stranger. |

The redhead considered what might happen if she skewered the Exceed cat with a throwing knife, but concluded that Syeena might not be too thrilled by that, so she settled for rolling her eyes at the flying feline before adding, “It isn’t that funny really, Hex.” She also didn’t want to admit that she rather enjoyed the look of the cloak as they’d set out. Now, as they came to the realization that all they’d faced was a rabbit, Emily felt irritated. She wanted adventure and not a bloody bunny. The rabbit might have made a decent dinner if they hadn’t allowed it to run away. There was something of the random about the Exceed, however, that the crimson haired psychopath actually enjoyed. The spontaneity was something with which she could relate. The song, however, was a tiny bit annoying. It was at that point that they were introduced to a new player. He was a rather solidly built man who lounged up against gigantic tree roots and smiled at them with a rather wolfish smile. In fact, there was something predatory about him in the general sense. Emily’s hand slid to the hilt of her black-bladed dagger as he faced them on the path. His tone may have been kindly but she doubted that his intentions were entirely pure. She contemplated sending out a tremor and knocking him off balance, holding her dagger to his neck and generally interrogating him with violence but she settled for watching him closely. The possibility that he might be considerably more powerful and dangerous also started to occur to her. It was a better bet to wait and see what his response was. Meanwhile, Emily circled slightly to one side of the man, in case he did mount some sort of attack. |

The suspicious man seemed strong and capable, but also seemed a bit ... odd in his demeanor, especially with Hex as he was curious to see the Exceed cat. Clearly, Hex didn't like him, and neither did Emily. Still, Syeena kept calm and somewhat polite to him. No sense attacking a stranger for no reason. It was the eye he had that was strange though... "Oh, I beg your pardon, little ladies. I meant no harm," the man said, holding up his hands in defense. "I was strolling through the woods myself. I'm a wilderness mage. I am... checking on the plant and animal life here." he said. The tone was a bit stretched as Hex hovered a few inches from the man's face. "Riiiight... Of course you are," Hex replied, suspecting it was a lie. The man looked away from the flying cat to the two girls near him. He tried his best to give a 'cunning smirk' which unfortunately for him revealed a bit of the unnusual canines he had to his grin. "Anyway, the woods are quite dangerous to be alone. I was hoping perhaps I could escort you to wherever it is you have to go. " he said. Syeena realized the guy clearly had an attraction to them, or women in general. She found it frustraiting when men would hit on her WHILE she was dressed as a nerdy looking journalist. Most people would overlook such a ditzy attire, but there were those who didn't care. Damn... "Well, that is very kind of you, but we are just fine. We are actually wizards ourselves, so we can handle ourselves, thank you. " Syeena replied curtly but politely. Still, the man was not about to let them go so soon. "Oh I see... you have magic too eh? Well I can understand your confidence. I wouldn't doubt that," he said, while putting on a more neutral but cool look. As if he was trying to be a macho type of person who was the best man since sliced bread. "Still, its no place for two young ladies and a cat to wander the woods alone without any protection. I am sure you can handle yourselves but I wouldn't be much of a man if I didn't keep an eye out for you." Syeena tried not to respond to it. He really wanted to stick with them. "As I said, thank you but no thank you. I think you will be surprised that we are actually expecting beasties around." she said, adjusting her glasses. "We are on our way to Grandmother's house and we are cleaning the roads of any dangers we may face there." The man looked interested at this. "Is that so, hmm? The poor sweet Grandma. Well I can understand," he said. Interrupting them, Hex came and with her wings and paws, tried to push the stranger away. "Well, thank you for the offer but we are really busy!" Hex said in a fast tone of voice, clearly trying to get the leery man on his way. "Places to go, monsters to slay, you understand. Off you go. Go collect leaves or something!" the cat said. Fighting the pushing of the cat, the man spun around, causing the cat to go in the opposite direction from her own momentum. "Oh wait! One more thing, " the man said, "I don't recommend it , but if you are serious about fighting horrible beasties-- there are some near the lake. Its a bit off the path but last time, I saw plenty there. Nasty monsters." It seemed a bit far fetched, but still... they did need to see if there were any threats on the road. Syeena turned to Emily, wondering what she thought about checking it out. |

Emily wondered why any strictly human individual would have such sharp teeth. She’d heard of people filing their canines to sharp points but his were just a little too long and razor-like to be the product of such modification. The man was unlikely to be any sort of hippy-dippy plant mage given his overall attitude and look. The redhead kept her hand poised above Blood’s Tear in case the black blade was called for. However, Syeena seemed to be doing a reasonable job of deflecting this individual’s interest. Of course, in her companion’s shoes, Emily would likely have simply pulled her dagger and gone to work. Given the way the man looked, however, it might have been a fight that she couldn’t have ended. At least he’d given them a way out and the thought of fighting anything was highly appealing to the crimson-haired killer at the moment. She felt that intense itch caused by the need to sink a blade into something or use her Earth magic to wreak havoc. She grinned at her companion and said, “Sure! Let’s go check out those nasty monsters. Our buddy here had a good suggestion. I’m sure that we can handle whatever’s down that way though. As my feline companion said, go on and collect leaves and pet bunnies or something, plant man!” Pointing in the direction that the man had indicated, she said, “Go on and lead us down to the lake, Syeena!” |
