The town of Oshibana could not be compared with Magnolia, even though it was an important town, due to its position and railroads. It looked like a quiet enough town, for all intents and purposes, and most of its inhabitants seemed to be civil enough. It wasn't like other places, where the distrust was evident on people's faces, or where the townsfolk tried to use market prices to rob unwary tourists blind in broad daylight. It wasn't large; the kind of place someone would want to go to live a simple quiet life... if the hooting of the trains did not help to rule out the "simple quiet". But even with the trains, the place was not as noisy as other locations. All these good features, as someone had said, were deceptive. Cleia mentally questioned why the town had not provided itself with a police force of sorts, which could deal with the town's major issue: imported hoodlums. Well, perhaps it was because Oshibana wasn't affluent enough to fund such, or maybe the unscrupulous elements from other areas were not that much of a problem to most of the outside world. A bit of both, she eventually concluded. It was only a matter of time, though, in the girl's opinion, that some more powerful nuisances might use the opportunity of Oshibana's lack of law enforcers to perpetrate some crime or the other. Besides, Oshibana was somewhat central; it linked many cities and towns together by rail. It would be a nice place to set up a Dark Guild that could take control of the railway system in that sector and hold many to ransom. Then Cleia remembered that being that brazen would incur the wrath of the Knights, Magic Council and whoever else wanted to be heroes. That thought set her mind a little more at ease. For now, however, some dark guild setting up shop here was not her major concern. She tried not to look like she was being overly cautious, because she was sure that doing so would mark her off as an inexperienced traveler, and that would make her a target for as many criminally minded travelers and tourists alike. Best for her not to dwell too long in such a place as this, as clement as it seemed. Without trying to look like she was watching everyone who walked by or stopped behind her, Cleia tried to find herself a map shop. A train station had to have some place that sold stuff like that, right? |

Oshibana Town, a place he never thought he would come to a stop. Even when he did he never thought he would get out the train before the next one was ready to set their destination in Magnolia. He had bought the wrong ticket, which made two stops instead of going directly to his home. He couldn’t believe it, but there was nothing he could do about it now. He had made his appearance in this quiet town, which he had never heard of anything bad happening. It could be that nobody bothered to do something to this town, or there were people who handled the problem before it escalated to the point where the news traveled all over Fiore. He honestly didn’t know what to do here as his interest didn’t settle very well in this part, but he was here for a reason. The young man had his headphones over his ears as his music had been playing as high as they could. He was moving through the small crowd that was around the area. They looked peaceful and quiet, which made him feel like nothing bad could happen here. He was okay with that because he didn’t want to do anything crazy. Well, things always tend to happen wherever Fairy Tail mages were around. He had his hands in jacket pocket as well as his head was unconsciously moving to the beat of the music. ”What can I do here?” he asked himself as he was alone in this dreaded place that they called a town. If it weren’t for trains passing through this place, then it would be unknown to the world. Yuurei noticed that there were small shops that were set up around the area as there were a small around of people there. He just looked forward as he figured he had no part in that, but his stomach rumbled with hunger. He looked over to the one of the stands and walked over to it as he figured he would get some fruits for the time being. He waited for his turn, and when it was his turn he smiled at the man. ”Can I get a dozen strawberries please,” he waited and the man was quick to hand him a container of strawberries. He had given him the amount that he figured would be enough, but he probably had given him more than necessary. He didn’t really care, but he turned to walk away from the area, but he bumped into something. He looked down and noticed that it was a little girl on the floor. She started to sniffle as if she was getting ready to cry. He kneel down quickly with a smile on his face as he patted the girl on the head. ”Sorry about that. I didn’t see you there. Here take a strawberry,” he opened the container as she rubbed her eyes and grabbed a strawberry and got up from the floor. She waved at him as thanks and walked away from him. Yuurei smiled at the kind gesture he had to do and started walking off again. This time he took one of the strawberries and took a bite out of it as it was sweet and delicious. |

Cleia gave a quiet sigh of relief as she reached out her hand to take the map that she had just purchased. Haggling here was a hassle. Small as this town was, she didn't expect its inhabitants to be so eager for coin, but it seemed like some of the merchants were out to prove her wrong. This one, in particular, seemed to think that she was in some way related to the royal family in Crocus, what with the kind of price he slapped down on a measly map of Southern Fiore. Of course, Cleia was not willing to part with that sort of money, and a fierce bargaining had ensued. At the current spot in time, from the looks on their faces, it would seem that Cleia had won this battle. After opening the rolled up map and studying its contents for a bit, partly to ascertain where she wanted to head to next, and also to make sure that it bore the signature of a calligrapher's guild to verify its authenticity, she put it into her backpack and zipped it shut. Turning away from the map store, she was about continuing back towards the train station, when she saw a teenager bump into a little girl. She watched him quietly as he comforted the girl and shared one of his strawberries with her. There was something very familiar about him... okay, not very familiar, but all the same, she could say she had seen him somewhere before. The dark silver hair, easy smile, bandana with the odd-ish pins... She suddenly knew where she had seen him before. Actually, she had spotted him only once or twice, and had heard some folks talk about him. She began walking after him... By the time she had caught up with him, he was walking further away from the train station, though his pace implied that he wasn't really going anywhere urgent. Cleia actually felt reticent to talk to him; for one, he was male and she was female, and another thing was the height. Standing beside him would make her really look short. However, in an unfamiliar town, it was always good to be in friendly company. Cleia hoped that he was as friendly as his face, and then tugged, albeit timidly, at his jacket. "Um, hello and good morning? I hope I'm not mistaken, but I've seen you before... in Magnolia. You're a member of Fairy Tail, right?" she asked, trying to keep the timidity out of her voice. Mentally, she was already kicking herself for 'fumbling with her words'. "Smooth talking, girl. Whenever did you hear anyone use 'hello' and 'good morning' in the same sentence?" |

The young man was enjoying his strawberries right now. They were really good and at the time being he was just roaming around the streets now. He had picked up a scent, but it had gotten really close to him quickly. Still, he was trying to enjoy the fruit he had gotten, so he just kept moving. That was when he had felt the tug on his jacket, which caused him to stop moving. He didn’t know who it was, but when he turned he noticed that there was nobody in front of him. He knew something was wrong here, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. That was when the voice appeared and he looked down following the sound of the girl’s voice. He looked at her and blinked a few times because he had never met this person before. Still, she approached him, tugged hit jacket, and had these eyes that felt like she had seen him before. Her words also proved him right and he rubbed the back of his head. He didn’t think that there would be anybody here who would know who he was, but she had been to Magnolia before. Another thing that got to him was that she had knew he was a Fairy Tail mage. ”Did she see me in the festivals before? I don’t really tell people I’m in the guild unless they are my clients,” he thought to himself. He figured there was more to it than just that. He placed his hands to back to where they originally were. He was holding the container of strawberries, while the other stood to his side. ”You have probably seen me in Magnolia since I do live there,” he answered her to reassure her that was where she most likely saw him. He took out another strawberry and examined it before what he planned to do next. ”It’s interesting to know that you know I’m a part of that guild. The name is Yuurei Soukutsu, if you didn’t know already,” he smiled at the girl. She looked young indeed, but he knew that looks could be deceiving, so he didn’t think about it too much. ”Are you lost? I didn’t think anybody here would try to grab my attention here,” he took a bite of the new strawberry as he closed his eyes for a split second as he looked back at the girl. She was beautiful indeed, but he knew that he couldn’t get distracted by something like that. ”Getting tugged by a female is something that you don’t go through on daily basis now right?” he question himself as he wasn’t too sure this was normal. |

Cleia made a conscious effort not to freak out when the tall young man turned around. "He stared right over my head...!" That was expected, anyway, and she managed to get over it without betraying any of her emotions. It wasn't like she was cross with him or anything; she just didn't think she was that tiny. He assumed that she had seen him in Magnolia, which was only true in some sense. She had actually more than seen him in Magnolia. She gave him a perky smile. "Well, pleased to meet you, Mr. Yuurei, and no, I actually didn't know your name." She gave a slight pause, then continued. I knew you are a member of Fairy Tail, because... well, I actually made a guess. I've seen you around the guildhall, here and there. You see, I'm a member of Fairy Tail myself. She thought about showing him her insignia, but thought against it. She was just meeting him for the first time, so it would be inappropriate, in her opinion. Then, she suddenly remembered that he had introduced himself, and she hadn't, and it would be impolite of her not to do so. "The name's Cleia. Cleia Everest," she said a little quickly. Yuurei had wondered whether she was lost, and even though she wasn't, she felt that his company would be better than being solitary in a place as this. "Ehh... I'm not really lost, see, but this place is kind of creepy-ish, because lots of strange folk come from other seedy places, and this is like their meeting point. So, I just thought it would be cool to tag along and stuff, if you get what I mean..." Cleia had suddenly realized that it was forward of her to be approaching a guy she hardly knew to ask him... wait, that wasn't like asking out, was it? She averted her eyes and found herself staring at her shoes as she spoke, and by the time she got to the word "cool", her voice began to drop in loudness, and she just virtually mumbled the "if you get what I mean" part. She felt like shooting herself for acting shy and all in front of this guy... ... and not too far away, someone watched the two youths fixedly. |

He heard her words as she corrected him; she didn’t know his name, which he was okay with, but he wondered what she would say about everything else. He just heard her words and was surprised about the answer. He blinked a few times in silent as he was surprised that he didn’t see her in the guildhall. That was something he didn’t expect to hear, but he was actually glad that was her answer. A lot of people knew he was in a guild and how they knew just confused him. He never really appeared to the outside world as the mage from Fairy Tail and his insignia was hidden to everybody around him. It was in the palm of his hand, which was also hidden by a glove. He could only life a smile from his lips because he was also surprised that he would see a fellow guild member in this place. A little bit after his silence she had introduced herself. That was a nice name to hear, for he thought she would have a common name. He kept quiet though as he wasn’t sure what she was going to say next, but he did throw in a lot of questions for her to answer. It was why he had didn’t say anything for the time being. He listen to why she had followed him and why she wanted to tag along with him. He nodded listening to her because it was understandable and he was cool with her tagging along. He would be able to meet a new person get to know them and have a newly beautiful guildmate that he knew. He didn’t mind that her eyes had shifted down to the ground. He understood where she was coming from and if she meant anything different, then he was oblivious to the facts. ”Nice to meet you Cleia; I’m happy to be able to meet someone who is also in the guild that I’m from. Sorry, if I didn’t see you around the guild like that. I kind of disappeared from the guild after a while I was there my attention was focused elsewhere,” he smiled at her. ”And I don’t mind that you want to walk around the area with me. I can understand why you wouldn’t want to walk alone in this place. I kind of didn’t like the fact that I was here on my own as well,” he chuckled when he said that as he rubbed the back of his head. He took the final bite from his strawberry. ”Do you have anything you wanted to do in this place Cleia? I was just planning on walking around until the train was ready to take me back to Magnolia,” he told her this, but figured he should make some type of conversation as well. ”So how long have you been in the guild?” he asked her. |

Yuurei hadn't seemed to notice that she was beginning to fumble on her words, so Cleia quickly pulled her act together and tried to act more collected. Fortunately for her, she managed to do so in record time, thus preventing any further "embarrassments", which had hitherto gone undetected. Well, so far, he seemed to be the polite, amiable sort, and Cleia was inwardly pleased that she had met such a person who also didn't mind company. From what Yuurei said, he seemed to be a bit like herself: not really hanging around in the guildhall, due to some reasons here and there. Even though Magnolia was the place she called home, she had found herself on the road, more often than she stayed in the city. Yuurei asked her if she had anything to do in Oshibana town. Truth was, whatever she wanted to do, if it was that important at all, had already been accomplished. "Not really, no," she said, in answer to his first question. "I wanted to get myself a map, though all I originally came here for was to get a ride to Magnolia. And since it will be a while before our train is ready for departure, well... here I am." She gave a slight shrug to further indicate that she had nothing serious to do in this place. And as to the next question he asked... "How long have I been in Fairy Tail? Been a while, actually, though I'm little known there. You don't need to apologize for not seeing me around there; I've hardly been around ever since I joined. I've found myself running all around Fiore, and even though it's usually exciting, it's starting to feel a little pointless. I've only managed to complete one mission, so far." She gave a soft sigh. "Still got a long way to go." She was silent for a bit, then she looked up at him. "So, how about you? You travel much, right?" ... and the skulking figure, who had been watching them for a while now, began tailing them, creeping closer, while its muscles prepared in apprehension for a hasty flight... Yuurei’s question was quickly answered, which he smiled because he couldn’t have been any help to her with what she was doing. Her reason was close to his, but of course she had a little bit more. His reason was simple and it was the fact that he wanted to go home after being sent away because of the guild master. His disappearance from Magnolia was a little different. He usually made sure that he was in the city no matter what. His mission had been around his home as well, but there were times that the master seen this and kicked him out of the city. Still, he didn’t mention this to her because well he didn’t deem it relevant. ”So we both are waiting to go home I see. Well these trains never usually stop, if you buy the right ticket that is,” he said with a chuckle. He heard her what she said about her length at the guild, and that she never really stood there for him to probably recognize her. He could only smile as traveling through Fiore only landed her with one mission. He remember when he had to go around Fiore doing missions; there were certain people he was glad were around to do these missions with. He wondered how they were doing and hoped that he would be able to see them again. While he was thinking about his past, she was quick to ask him a question. It stopped him from reminiscing about his past and look at her with a blank stare on his face. ”A long way to go? Yeah doing missions is a lot of work. I did a lot of them in my time as well. Some are boring, some are exciting, and well some you just got to do,” he paused a bit before answering her question. ”Well I travel a lot, but not because I want to. There are times I do travel for myself,” he didn’t think he would tell her this. ”I usually spent my time in Magnolia, and the master usually kicks me out of the city to go and do something. The thing is I can’t enter the city until I show proof that I did something useful in Fiore,” he laughed at that, but it was true. ”Don’t get me wrong I do get a lot of things done, I don’t mind traveling, and I do travel for myself sometimes. I have even been in an island off to the East of Fiore for a long time,” he smiled as they were walking through the streets. He could have spotted the man who was following him, but there was no point in using his nose to pick up a scent. He wouldn’t even think anybody would try anything around this town. ”Still missions is something you need the right people with you. I usually bump heads with people when I do the jobs I take. I have done one on my own, which wasn’t bad either,” he brought up what she said about her mission again and he didn’t know why. ”Why did you get a map? I mean I understand you travel a lot, but is that the only reason?” he asked her. |

She listened to Yuurei as she kept pace with him, looking up at him occasionally as he talked. From the way he talked, he was probably quite powerful. He seemed to be somewhat modest, because he didn't really say much about some of his missions, even though some of the ones he accomplished would have been dangerous. Some people would have launched off into very tall tales just to impress a girl, but he didn't. And the way things worked in Fiore, you got famous as a mage, when you knew how to get the job done. Cleia laughed lightly when Yuurei talked about the guild master always being on his neck to get something good done in Fiore. "Maybe he wants you to be at your best, and not sit on your potential. It may be annoying sometimes, but it's great to know that someone cares for your well-being," she replied. He was right that one needed good people who could be trusted when going on a mission. Cleia had met a few good people, but she felt she didn't have enough friends. She could blame that on her reserved nature, but the fact was that friends were very necessary. She was musing on the concept of friendship when he suddenly asked about her map. She looked up, then shrugged. "Uh, well, yeah. Kind of. I never intended to stop here, as I imagine you know, but since I was here, and I didn't want to stand alone at the terminal, looking like I wanted to get mugged, I decided to buy something. And well there was the map shop, but their prices are crazy. I suppose the map might help me find what I'm looking for, or at least better acquaint me with what I expect to see when I go anywhere South. It does look helpful." She pulled the map out of her backpack and offered it to Yuurei... ... and the skulking shadow lurched. Moving swiftly, as fast as it was short, it leaped to a surprising height with an uncanny agility, and snatched the map clean out of Cleia's fingers. "Hey!" Cleia protested, as the creature (humanoid, of course, but draped in a black cloak) landed nimbly on its feet, then turned sharply to glare at them. It's face was thoroughly concealed in the shadow of the cowl it wore, but two luminous yellow eyes gleamed back at the two youngsters for a moment, and then it took off for all it was worth. "My map! Come back here, you!" Cleia yelled after the thief, though her light voice might not have gone very far. She instantly followed in hot pursuit. |

While they were walking he could hear her laugh, but he was okay because it was appropriate with what he said. He looked over to her as she had said what the master’s intentions probably were. He nodded as he figured that much a while ago. He had time to think about it and it really did seem like the master figured he had some type of potential to do something or become something great. It was why he stood at the guild and never wavered on his decision to stay in Fairy Tail. He figured he would smile at her because of what she said. She was smart and she analyzed things pretty well. Still, they were in the same guild, which meant she knew a little bit about the master. He looked forward again as he didn’t want to bump into anything in front of him. Yuurei could only wondered why she had bought a map. There was a reason, but it had more to it. He could only wondered what she was looking for now, and even more what was in the South of Fiore? He figured it had to be something strong, or at least something that could change someone. He knew a little bit about that, since he had to go through something like that. He had changed within a couple of months from that search and became stronger than he had ever thought he would become. He noticed that she was taking out the map to show him and he smile because she was kind. He figured this was because they were in the same guild. He made an attempt to grab the map as he was going to see what it would reveal to him, but something happen. Someone had beat him to the punch as the map was taken from Cleia. He was shocked to see this as his eyes widen as he could see the small critter running at such a high speed. He had this scent in his nose for a while, but he figured that this person was just walking in the same direction. That was not the case now as he had taken something from one of his guildmate. He noticed the eyes that were glaring at him, which caused Yuurei to release a smirk. ”Is he challenging me to a battle of speed?” he thought to himself as he hope that wasn’t the case because he would show him he was not somebody to run away from. He had snapped out of his thoughts of being challenged and looked over at Cleia as she was chasing after the man. He sighed as he figured he would join the action. He started running as he was moving a little bit faster than Cleia, but soon he had changed his pace to match his. He looked over to her as they were chasing after him. ”He won’t be out running us. I can smell him quite well, so hiding would prove pointless,” he told her. He was trying to reassure her that she didn’t lose her map and they were going to get it back. He turned his attention to what was in front of him because he didn’t want to collide with anything. |
