Adjusting the satchel Daine could do nothing else but yawn. It was rather early in the morning and for once he had started it doing good solid and perfectly legal work, a rare turn of events for the werewolf who liked getting into trouble most of the time. “Another day another… Whatever.” He said, washing his mouth out with water between the last two words from a small spring that ran through the woods. It had been two days since he had gotten the job, a courier gig that took him through this forest a bit, it wasn’t too bad it made him think of home and gave him some time away from the incessant bustle of the city, it was a nice change of events. The package he was carrying now was from a small town in the middle of the forest back to the city, it was difficult for them to move goods around without a day r two of travel, so a small scale messenger service had been set up. He had left late the night before and spent the night under the stars. Placing the satchel and his weapon on one of the rocks at the side of the stream, Daine started to take off his shirt, moving over to the water he simply jumped in, it wasn’t that deep about upto his thighs in the deepest part, deep enough however for him to have an early morning cold bath. He had needed it from all the walking over the past few days, Daine had never been too onto of the personal hygiene thing, but when he felt grimy he honestly rather washed himself than sit around like that. “Nobody her today to say I smell like wet dog.” He laughed at, plunging his head under the water to wash away the sweat from his hair, also loosening a few clumps of dirt from his locks that had managed to be trapped there from his night time sleep. Looking around more so out of habit that out of worry, Daine quickly slipped off his wet pants and socks and slinked back into the water. Throwing them over a branch close to the fire he had started the night before, the teen went back into the stream in his boxers, this time not for washing purposes but for catching some breakfast. Fish weren’t too common around this area and even the locals had difficulty catching them in the sparkling springs and creeks, but they weren’t Daine. Using his heightened sense of smell he quickly moved upstream stealthily and slowly until his nose picked out the odd smell under the water. “I’ll have you now.” Daine said, a sly smile creeping onto his face and his slightly larger canines flashing in the sun. “You’ll be mine.” The werewolf said, about to pounce for his prey. Fish were slippery and not the easiest of things, but he had the advantage of a narrow creek and a strong enough current to stop the fish going upstream too quickly for him to follow. With a silent two steps, Daine set off, his feet leaving the water for a moment before his hands landed in the spot he had located. His fingers struggled to wrap around the slippery object, trashing his body to try and make the fish panic and move seemed to only be counterproductive, twisting in the water for a good minute, the werewolf stopped dead, picking his now cold and soaking self-up with the item he had tracked down in his hands, rather than breakfast he had managed to bag himself a very fishy smelling slime covered rock. Dropping it back into the water with an annoyed look on his face, his stomach growled out half protest and a half mock. “Shut up.” He cried out, the hunger and embarrassment hitting him t the same time. “At least nobody was around to see that.” Daine said to himself, his head rocketing in the other direction as he heard a twig snap. Maybe it was a deer that had come for an early morning drink. “I preferred venison anyway.” Daine said, sniffing the air to see if he could locate any game around him. |

Ari glanced at the forest surrounding her, uncertainty in her gaze. She had been exploring and appeared to have gotten herself lost. She had been out most of the night and now, with the sun beginning to lighten the sky, she was feeling somewhat energized to see light. Her eyes searched for a place to sit and she found a fallen log. She supposed out here in a forest that was entirely lavender she could get lost easily. Her stomach rumbled and she sighed, knowing she aught to get something to eat. As much as she hated hunting, she knew she would need to today, she would need the energy that berries could provide. She growled before she used her take over magic to grow claws and teeth. It's okay, just don't think about it. she told herself before sescenting the air. A rabbit or a mouse would be perfect. she picked up a scent of a rabbit not far off and followed, letting her serval take over as she tracked it. About twenty five miles in, she scented something else, a person, out here in the forest. She made a mental note to herself to come back and follow but the closer she got to the rabbit the stronger the scent became before she suddenly slipped and found herself falling down a small embankment into a freezing cold stream and she let out a startled squeak. By now, the persons scent was almost overpowering and she gazed around her, noticing someone about to head into the forest. He looked like he could be not entirely human. She stood up, wringing out her tail as she disliked getting it wet. "Clearly I need to pay attention to where I'm going." she said blushing. |

Daine slowed his movements, and crouched slightly, almost crawling out of the river and a few meters until he was almost into the undergrowth. “There you are.” Daine said slowly and coldly, he hadn’t done this in far too long. It had been some time since he had stalked some prey in the forest, not since before he had been turned down by the knights, but he was hungry and he was being driven to the point of not thinking where his natural instincts took over. Controlling his breathing and looking through the shrubbery at the figure of a young buck grazing. He had been right in his deduction, the animal was obviously here for the spring water and the plants around the area that grew just a little greener than the rest. There were few predators that Daine knew of in these woods what meant that the deer’s were a lot more docile and not as worried about predators. “Just stay there.” Daine whispered as he moved closer. Before he could act, a splash sounded out behind him, the deer looked up and bolted quicker than Daine could react, for the second time that day he had missed out on breakfast by an armslegnth. Well the first time it was a rock but this time it was different. Standing up and acting a lot more socially acceptable, Daine twisted around in time to see what had cause him to lose his meal. Standing upright, drenched to the bone and in nothing more than boxers, Daine gave a glare in the direction of someone standing in the stream, his usually cheerfully disposition was replaced with an annoyed one. He disliked people making him lose these meals. “Why the hell are you splashing around in a stream in the middle of a forest?” Daine asked, not even remembering the fact his wasn’t wearing clothes. The clod didn’t really bother his kind, and although he had gotten used to putting pants on in the morning after a few comments, he still didn’t realise he wasn’t wearing them. Entering back into the stream, this time wading through nosily he made his way back over to his stuff to make sure this girl wasn’t here to try and rob him. Still here.” Daine said with a sigh of relief. Moving his attention back to the girl he was too annoyed to notice anything else about her other than she caused him to lose his meal. “Twice, already twice.” Daine started, pointing at the girl annoyed as he slowly approached her. “You owe me breakfast, and maybe even lunch.” Daine said, with each word his mind thought through the situation more and more. He could make lemonade out of this if he spun it right. “So, what are you going to do to repay me?” Daine asked, finally looking down to see two things, the tail of the girl and his pantless state. “Oh.” This made it more difficult to spin. But Daine had always liked a challenge. |

She backed up, the hairs on her tail fluffing up as he seemed angry or maybe more annoyed. She had cost him a meal. Crud. She only suddenly noticed his attire and she flushed averting her gaze. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disrupt your hunting. I usually stick to smaller game but I was huting and your scent crossed paths. So in a way, it seems we costed each other a meal" she said, allowing her eyes to change back to normal and her claws retracted but did not go away in case she needed them. "Also, lay a finger on me and I'll shred you."she said, getting out of the water. Her ears twitched, a scent on the breeze telling her that there was prey not far off. It wasn't often that she allowed her more animalistic side out. It had been far too long since she had tracked anything. "And as for making up for losing you your breakfast, I'll help you track down whatever it was you were hunting. I'm pretty fast you'd be surprised I think. Although don't you think it would be wasteful for you to not share considering it is probably large game and you're one person?" she queried, her amber eyes cautious. Whatever he was, he had an animalistic side to him that could be dangerous. "also might be an idea to at least put some pants on." |

Daine just let the girl say her peace, he wasn’t about to go interrupting her and cutting the information he could collect on her short, after he was finally certain she had finished talking, the teen just looked back at his clothes, his pants were still soaked through and there wouldn’t be much use putting them on until they were dry. 2Hey, I like the breeze between my knees.” Daine said, shrugging slightly and just moving back over to his stuff to check through it one more time. He was too hungry to take too much advantage of the situation, the girl had gotten off easy. In the past he’d extorter a hell of a lot out of people who’d caused one of his meals to go to waste. “Well you’re the cat girl. You can do the hunting.” Daine said, shaking out his top and sliding it on over himself. He hung the pants up closer to the fire; sure they’d end up smelling of wood smoke and likely give him away to any deer’s in the area but he wasn’t going to be doing the hunting, plus he wasn’t going to put them on until they were dry. Slinging the package over his shoulder, he moved back towards the creek and the girl. “And don’t worry. You’re not my type. I draw the line when it comes to flirting with house pets.” Daine said in a teasing but bored voice, he just wasn’t in the mood to play too much with her. The stomach rumble agreed with his thought as he moved off in the location the girl was talking about, some food was better than none. “The package isn’t due for another few days, so right now I want to eat.” Daine explained while standing next to the girl, he was sure if he didn’t offer a space on his little hunting thing she’d come back to bite him by scaring off more food. “You know how to hunt right? Or is the cat get up some really weird convention crap; if so, I think you missed the mark.” Daine said with a bit more of a cheeky smirk as he started off into the underbrush. He wasn’t about to go putting his moves on while some weird girl was around and he was pantless, the last time he had done that it had ended badly, actually the last three time. It was a case of you win some, you lose some. And he’d already lost twice this morning, he didn’t want to go for the hatric. Stealthy smelling the air, he caught the normal scents and aromas of the forest, the sort of place he grew up. “Which way cat girl? Left or right?” he asked. No way was the girl going to know he was anything more than weird. There were animal both ways, but she could at least take the credit. “And this time, don’t scare away the god damn things.” Daine said, hushing his voice at the last second as the sound of breaking twigs echoed from the left of the pair. If that wasn’t a sign the girl could get, then he may as well put her out of her misery right there. |

She bristled at being called a house pet. She was certainly not a damned house pet. "I'd advise against the whole house pet thing, unless of corse you feel like eating berries" she snapped back. She already didn't like this guy. "And I'm not a house cat, I'm a Serval half demon." she growled, her tail lashing. She was still soaked, or at least her boots and socks were. She could take those off and while her top wasn't overly soaked her shorts were but she wasn't about to change out of them. She heard a twig snap to the left of them and her claws slid out, her eyes changing to cat eyes as she stalked silently towards the sound, a deer, that was what he had been tracking. She watched as he put a shirt on but not his pants. Had he done something similar to her and ended up soaking himself? The thought made her grin. "I will be right back" she said before darting off with her sword drawn. She stalked close to the deer, making sure she kept down wind of it so that she wouldn't startle it before she pounced upon it. It struggled beneath her before she quickly put it out of pain with her sword across its neck. She attempted to drag the carcass back before she called out "If you intend on eating, come help me carry this back and you can cook it over that fire of yours cuz personally I would rather not eat raw meat." she called, wondering if he would help her. |

It seemed as though the girl wasn’t as useless as he initially thought, she was far from useful, just not useless. “Pedigree kitty?” Daine whispered under his breath, he didn’t know if she could hear him and didn’t care if she could anyway but he just had to get it out of his system. Moving back over to the fire, the werewolf wrung out as much of the walker soaked into his pants as he could before putting them back over the branch, there wasn’t much point moving them now, they already had the smell of wood smoke worked into their fibres and luckily for him the material was a bit crappy and far from flammable. “It looks like the kitty has some claws.” Daine said watching her bring back the deer. Standing up he pulled the carcass over to the fire without too much trouble. He didn’t have too many tools for cutting the meat up and he wasn’t exactly going to let little miss prissy cat get her claws into it, he knew the rules of the pack, the strongest ate first and if you had your claws in it when you sat down, it was easier to make your claim. Plus he had no idea what sort of crazy things she had been doing, for all he knew she could be a wierdo who felt rabbit poop. “Are you sure you don’t want yours extra rare?” Daine smiled at, gesturing that he was going to just sink his teeth into the flesh, to be honest it wasn’t that weird for him. Growing up raw meat was the norm, cooking it took away the bloody flavour he liked as a kid, but he had become accustomed to having it seared, and he was in company so he was going to wag his proverbial tail and be behaved, after all he was sure a little bit of praise for the girl would let him work out a few more meals if she stuck around. “Not too shabby.” Daine finally said after poking the carcase. Pulling over his pole axe from the tree hear his pants, he moved the blade to slice at the meat. There was a lot and he’d not likely use most of it. But sinking the blade into the flesh, he quickly made his way to the choice parts of the deer, avoiding anything that would take too much effort to cut up. After a few chops and having to reposition the buck a half a dozen times, he had a choice selection of cuts. Not being too fussy he simply threw them on the fire. The outside would char quickly, but without proper utensils to cook it on, it would be easier this way. “My name is Daine, Just wondering why you’re out this far?” He asked, still pantless but sitting cross legged by the fire. It wasn’t particularly cold and even if it was he wouldn’t be too bothered by it, but still the warm welcoming flames were always nice. Without thinking he simply picked up one of the raw chops and started to rip away. Most of the blood had already settled in the carcass so it was atleast not too messy. |

This boy was curious, not entirely human but not entirely animalistic Either. She watched as he took the meat from her, trying to dominate her apparently but she was a cat, someone who would not easily be dominated. She was stubborn, always had been, and that was not about to change now. She growled, pulling out her sword, she started cleaning it. She would not let her gift from Zeph to be ruined by blood of an animal. Once she had wiped the blood, she cracked a grin to the boy who introduced himself as Daine. "I'm Ari" she said, looking down at the carcass. "I'm not sure what I'm doing here, I was exploring and I don't entirely know where I am. For a cat I certainly have terrible senses of direction" she said, a cheeky grin on her face. "What brings you out here if I may ask and not meaning to be rude but what are you, I know you're a creature but I cannot figure out what you are." she knew she could use her annalysis but she didn't want to use her guild spell yet. Plus it'd only show her what magic he used but it would not give her specifics. Her stomach growled, reminding her to eat and she finally approached the carcass and sliced off a piece meat before putting it into the fire to cook it. "I'll try it medium rare but I'm not eating bloody meat that is just ew." oh lord she was such a girl. She sighed, sitting back whille she let the neat cook. It was a nice morning actually, a beautiful sight to greet her after traveling through the night. The way the sun shone on the lavender colored trees and the water of the creek. She grinned, her cheeks flushing as she smiled. |

Daine picked up a stick and started prodding at the meat on the flames, they’d take a while to cook by the wasn’t in too much of a rush. But he did want to get going soon enough, even though he had time to spend the day lounging around, he felt bored by the idea. The quicker he got to the city, the quicker he got paid and could pick up his next set of packages for another village. It was a stable gig, when one deliver finished another one was due. “I’m just a bit eccentric.” Daine said, chewing on the raw venison still now realising what it was he didn’t really care anymore. He wasn’t one to let people know his secret, and even through her suspicions she’d never figure it out. “I’m an errand boy right now” Daine finally explained picking up the satchel by his side. It was filled with letters and a few parcels, “The people a bit further out have difficulty getting into the city, so they have a sort of postal service.” Daine said shrugging, he’d had the whole thing explained to him, but he didn’t really feel like going over the details. Daine enjoyed being on the offensive, the person who asked the questions and was more forceful that others, but right now he was trying to gain back ground, although he was sure the girl would never find out what he was, the idea that she suspected anything else had thrown him off of his game. “Breakfast should be ready soon. After that where are you headed?” Daine asked, pulling out a few spare pieces of fabric out of his backpack. He wouldn’t finish all the meat here so he may as well put some away for later. Standing up from near the fire, Daine finally walked over to the remainder of his clothes, they had dried rather quickly and probably much to the enjoyment of the cat girl he finally out them back on. Stretching his legs slightly he walked back over to the stream, cupping his hand and filling it with the cool spring water. “You can eat now.” Daine called back as he returned to the camp fire. Using the stick he had before, Daine picked the meat from the fire, placing it all on the cloth before proceeding to stomp out the remaining embers. “I’m heading off now to the city. Take what food you want.” Daine said, picking up a piece of the cooked deer and biting out a chunk. |

Ari watched as the boy poked at the meat in the fire with a stick, checking it probably before he answered her question, saying he was just a bit eccentric but Ari was not fooled. She could smell something on him, she couldn't place it, but something was off on his scent. She could guess he was perhaps part Canine judging the fact that he seemed to have a need to dominate her. She sighed before thanking whoever was listening when he finally put a pair of pants on. She preferred not having to be distracted. An errand boy? He was an errand boy? Interesting. She stored that bit of information for possible later use and she smiled. "I don't need permission to eat." she said sweetly, her smile hiding the true message. "Well, if you're headed into town, mind if I tag along, as I said before I'm not that great with direction and you seem to know your way around. " she asked. As much as she didn't really like this guy, she wasn't stupid and had the feeling that he might be the only way she'd be able to find her way out. If only Zeph were here, he'd know how to get out of this forest. she thought before taking a bite of the meat. It wasn't her favorite meal but she'd deal with it, it was something to fill her stomach and that was good enough for her. "I'm guessing once you get to the next town, you'll have to head out pretty quick with the next delivery?" she could be civil if she really wanted to and if she was going to have any sort of chance of getting out of this place she would have to play nice. |
