Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Name: Lei Guduo
Nickname: Bird-Tamer Lei; Lei the Bird-Taming Beggar
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Height: 1.8 m.
Weight: 75 kg.
Guild: Quatro Cerberus
Class: D
Affiliation: Neutral

Appearance
[tabs][tab=Physical Description]Decently tall and well-built, Lei has a physique obtained through nothing less than sheer effort - his body is lean but highly muscular, that likes of which his images are able to speak for themselves. In simply summary, he is the example that doctors use to describe an ideal active lifestyle, and his body reflects such. Lei does have a tan, though not a very visible one, and his skin is, for all intents and purposes, flawless enough for a modeling magazine cover. Moving upwards, one of Lei's more noticeable traits is his lengthy black hair. Unkempt and uncut, the hair reaches down to just slightly past his shoulders, and his bangs are a frequent source of irritation. Facially, Lei has the appearance of youth, with expressive dark eyes, a bit of a chin, and cheeks that speak for themselves.[/tab][tab=Clothing]Simply put, Lei doesn't wear much. While the outer elements may occasionally force him to throw on a cloak, for the most part the healthy young man trains himself by avoiding any upper body wear, especially shirts. At the very least, he still wears pants, long articles of blue or dull grey durable fabric, held to his waist by a white sash. Any cloak or other outerwear that Lei might happen to have with him, at any given time, is most likely also tied to the wait. Footwear, unless in situations of absolute necessity, are utterly avoided.[/tab][tab=Accessories]Lei usually wears one or several sashes, tied around his head to prevent his hair from obstructing his view. Additionally, several necklaces usually adorn his neck, two necklaces of ornamental stone and one of a red sash with several gold coins tied to it.[/tab][tab=Extras]His single most distinguishing trait, Lei has a series of tattoos across his arms and sides, vivid depictions of mythical beasts in bright red, blue, and gold.[/tab][/tabs]

Lei

Personality
[tabs][tab=Wandering Vagrant]A man accustomed to life on the road, Lei is a truly wild free spirit, the type of person who has no problems sleeping anywhere where there is enough space to fit him, be it inside a box or under the stars. Such a lifestyle requires a degree of carelessness, and this is reflected in Lei's own laid-back personality; not much of a long-term planner, he prefers taking odd jobs for his food and drink - all else is luxury, and luxury that he rarely strives for at that. With such a strange way of life, it's no surprise that many who first see him mistake him for a mere vagabond; Lei himself has no problem with those who see him as such.[/tab][tab=Heroic Monk]The second side of Lei's personality that people can see is usually the part of him that follows the tenets of a respectable Minstrelian monk. Though his initial appearance gives a feel of laziness and carelessness, Lei feels instinctive urges to step in whenever he sees injustice done, regardless of the threats such behavior might pose to his own well-being. As a frequent traveler by foot, Lei is wise in the worldlier ways, and has both the mouth and the muscles to back up this form of wisdom. He himself is not a big fan of violence, but his inherent duty as a monk overwhelms his personal whims when called for - one who raises his wrath may very well find a dangerous and brutal enemy.[/tab][tab=Bird-Tamer]At his heart, though there is the deepest side of Lei, the aspect of himself that he reveals only to the closest of friends - his familial side. The wandering monk has a strange way of gaining the attention and affection of birds, a skill that almost never comes naturally - a testament to his own willpower and ability when it comes to pursuing his ultimate joy: to make those that he loves, happy. Given his age, appearance, and mannerisms, very few know the true reason and history behind his strange affection for avian animals, and Lei himself is content with keeping it that way.[/tab][/tabs]

History
[tabs][tab=A Youth of Flight]The life of the free spirit known as Lei began in Minstrel, the land where children with magic are sent to become monks as soon as their magical abilities manifest. Since his father was of the Lei clan, and he himself had the family name of Lei, the young Lei Guduo was sent to the Lei Family's own family monastery at the tender age of three. Even then at that age, the young man's wanderlust was beginning to show itself - little Guduo liked taking exploring and long walks, with many a day ending in someone running out to search for the boy. While he learned some of the Lei Family's teachings, it only took several years for Guduo to decide that perhaps he wanted to see the wider world; his family, wise enough to have predicted the inevitability of his departure, gave him their blessings as he departed. From there, Guduo wandered across Minstrel, visiting the various cities and towns, joining sects and monasteries whenever convenient and simply walking straight out when his whimsical heart called for it. Such was his life throughout his childhood and most of his teenage years, with Guduo becoming a bit of a local challenge for the various monks who tried to keep him in their groups as long as possible. Ultimately, one monk sect succeeded where all others failed - the Beggar's Sect.[/tab][tab=Becoming a Beggar]Since his teenage years, Lei had known of Beggar's Sect - a prominent monk sect in Minstrel, as well as one of the most controversial. Though the Beggar's Sect was legal, righteous, and orthodox by all standards, the sect had many differences that made them oddities in the eyes of other monks - lenient rules for membership and a subsequently large and varied collection of members, for one, and unusual customs in the sect's management and organization. Lei himself never paid the sect much mind until a chance encounter with a sect elder at the age of seventeen, wherein a series of long discussions and traveling together made the young wanderer realize that the Beggar's Sect was a perfect fit for him: a sect of diversity and unity, the Beggars were free spirits from all paths of life, joined together by nothing more than the mutual desire to uphold their inherent duties as monks without being restrained by the various rules and customs of most other monk sects. So, Lei entered the Beggar's Sect and took upon himself the title of a beggar, finding more joys in his traveling as chance encounters with fellow sect members increased with every wandering journey.[/tab][tab=Rise of the Bird-Tamer]At the age of nineteen, the man who would one day be known as the bird-tamer himself became tamed - in the midst of the spring of youth, Lei the beggar fell in love. He was a wandering monk, rich with the wisdom of the ever-winding road; she was a young monk herself, a member of an all-female sect, well-read and well-learned in the ways of learning and high culture. An initial encounter at the side of Jang Lake bloomed into their first date, and subsequent meetings blossomed into a simple but deep romance. No promises of powerful skills or teachings of wealth and power could tempt Lei to stay anywhere for more than a few months, but for her, his first love, the young man stayed in the town of Janghai for several years. Despite their differences, the two of them had a strange and deep understanding of one another, a type of ability to get along that even the red thread of fate couldn't fully explain. Those were happy days for the couple; they wedded quickly, and by the time he was twenty-one and she twenty, Lei found himself a father. His daughter, young and innocent as she was, loved birds, and Lei loved his daughter; so much so, that he mastered the art of bird-taming to see her smile. Lei's skill in the art escalated at such a rapid pace in those years that Bird-Tamer became his title throughout the land, and his story became a light conversation topic for civilians and an encouraging tale of devotion for monks.[/tab][tab=Migration]A sorrow, that the call of duty always chances upon the happiest times. Several years past, and the leaders of the Beggar's Sect decided that it was time to expand - their first target, the magically-rich nation of Fiore. Several of their most personable members were selected to travel to the western nation to create a foothold for the large monk organization, Lei unfortunately among their numbers. His wife, however, still had duties to her own sect, and between the two of them it was already understood that their daughter would best in the care of their mother and her fellow monks, the aunts and great-aunts that had blessed their marriage and treasured the little girl from the day of her birth.

Lei departed from Minstrel with a promise - to travel and sate the calls of his sect as best he could while she hurried to fulfill her duties, and for the two of them to return their little family together as soon as possible, regardless of which nation it would be in.[/tab][/tabs]

Skills & Disciplines
[tabs][tab=Light Expectations]Having spent so long on the road, Lei has adapted to living life on the lowest end of the spectrum, finding such a life not only livable, but even enjoyable - when it comes to the talents and skills needed to maintain such a lifestyle, Lei is experienced almost to the point of perfection thanks to the lessons of his many small jobs and stints in various types of work.[/tab][tab=Martial Virtues]With some upbringing and training as a monk, Lei is learned in the ways of a Minstrelian monk, understanding the virtues and discipline necessary to maintain his current status. This extends not only to physical training and martial prowess, but also to his own mental and spiritual state of affairs.[/tab][tab=Family Man]Lei is abnormally talented in the art of bird-taming, easily able to understand the ways of coaxing the fear out of avian animals, as well as taming them over longer periods of time. Along with this are several related skills, such as the ability to distinguish between types of birds pending on their calls, or being able to inspect the overall health of a bird with a mere several glances.[/tab][/tabs]

Magic
Magic Name: Art of Flowing
Magic Type: Chi Magic
Tier of Magic: 1
Rank: 3
Magic Description: A strangely suitable form of magic for someone with the likes of Lei's personality, Art of Flowing is a form of chi magic - magic that empowers the user's body with pure magical energy, allowing a mage to perform feats of enhanced ability in primarily combat, such as empowering a punch to shatter armor, covering a hand in chi to slap away incoming projectiles, or drawing upon their inner reserves to recover their wounds. Magical energy can also be channeled into small or normal objects such as weapons, giving similar effects. Due to the pure nature of Lei's chi, his magic is considered entirely non-elemental, while due to the martial nature of chi magic itself, a vast majority of the spells are close-range or personal in nature. Lei's Art of Flowing, a specific style of chi magic, focuses on motion, with added emphasis on increasing mobility. practitioners are capable of walking on water, leaping great heights, running and dodging at levels of swiftness and agility beyond the humanly possible - even moving on air itself.

Chi magic consists of three types of spells - internal skills, martial skills, and lightness skills. The three kinds of skills build upon one another, as clarified below.

Techniques: 12/13 [7/7 + 5/6 Purchased]

[tabs][tab=Foundation]
Internal Skills
The foundation of chi magic, internal skills activate the magic within the body, often granting the user some form of passive or semi-passive benefit, such as increased regeneration or adding some unique property, such as increased blunt force, to other skills. As the foundation, an internal skill needs to be active at all times to perform any spell of the other categories - having no internal skills, for a chi mage, is the same as having no magic.
Learned Skills
Posted ImageDeep Breathing - 3
Type: Supportive - Passive
Range: Self
Effect: One of the most fundamental skills in chi magic, Deep Breathing is prized for
its simplicity and efficiency - while being too simple to offer any other bonus effects at
this level, it opens the path for other skills; currently, it allows the user to use martial and
lightness skills of upwards to rank 3.
[/tab][tab=Force]
Martial Skills
The bulk of chi spells for most practitioners, martial skills are the general category for any type of spell that doesn't fit into the other categories, usually active, combat-usable spells - things as simple as an empowered punch to the likes of the legendary Buddha's palm. Martial skills and lightness skills are capable of working in conjunction to one another, while martial skills have a dependency on internal skills to be usable.
Learned Skills
Posted ImageSword-Shattering Palm - 3
Type: Offensive
Range: 3 m.
Effect: A prized skill of the Lei Family, the Sword-Shattering Palm is designed
specifically to deter those who fight with anything outside of their own bodies. By
focusing chi into the palms, the user slams down on a surface, releasing a burst of
destructive magic around himself. The magic energy emitted severely dents D-class
items and shatters mundane objects at this level. 3 post cooldown.
[/tab][tab=Flight]
Lightness Skills
The specialty of Art of Flowing, lightness skills are spells revolving around moving, increasing the user's mobility to superhuman levels with the likes of swift dashes and even flight. Lightness skills and martial skills can often work together for devastating results, while lightness skills require an internal skill to be active to be usable.
Learned Skills
Posted ImageGentle Breeze - 3
Type: Supportive - Dash
Range: 7 m.
Effect: One of the more basic lightness skills, Gentle Breeze hastens the user's
steps, allowing them to quickly cross empty spaces. At this level, the user can cross up
to 7 m. of distance at a speed of 30 as a standard dash. 3 post cooldown.
Posted ImageFeather Walking - 3
Type: Supportive - Flight
Range: Self
Effect:An advanced lightness skill, Feather Walking lets the user walk on air as if
the user was light as a feather. For up to 3 posts, the user can walk up to 5 m. off the
ground at -5 speed (to a minimum of 10), while being able to carry up to 15 kg. worth of
things with them. 3 post cooldown.

If you want to have your tail classed and be usable as a weapon it will have to be made a piece of equipment. You probably know that but just reminding you just in case.

Other than that..this seems pretty okay to me.

Providing Fire Support

Love the idea and theme behind the magic, but there are a thing that im worried about, and that is the versatility of every single tech you have.

But Primal Form duration and cooldown at this rank doesnt work. Even tho it is not a buff it works in a similar way, since it does give the benefits for its duration, so i would suggest you change them to what is used for buffs.

The tech effects themselves on either form are ok, but there aren't enough drawbacks to justify the ability of having techs like Scale Shift which does completely different things depending on form. But putting different drawbacks on each one of them would become complicated.

Still, drawbacks have to exist if you want to have what is basically two techs in one, so i would suggest you to at least increase the cooldown on every tech for the primal form.

After you do that, I will give you the second thumbs up.
