Jayce had just arrived in Oshibana as some how he had skipped visiting this town despite being in Magnolia plenty of times in the past before. But the trip didn't feel like a waste of time. This could be a town where he could find a lead on his parents. Besides, it's not like he's alone. He'll always have Suna with him by his side...or...on his back to be correct. Suna's eyes appeared on the exterior of Jayce's gourd moving them across in different directions to observe the destination. "The town's little small don't you think?" Suna would comment. But Jayce could keep observing before delivering his response. "I quite like it. Would be a great getaway from the guild and everyone." he would reply. "Did anyone at the guild tell you the issue with this place?" Of course Jayce was far too busy to work on just his personal problems. Mistress Mai had given him an assignment since he had mentioned going off in this direction. Before leaving the guild, Suna had morphed into Jayce's appearance to speak to the guildmaster for him while he was out. "Apparently there have been reports of fatal animal attacks for a whole week straight last week." she would inform. "And we both know that doesn't sound normal. -Animal attack reports aren't even that high most of the time." Jayce would say, continuing into town. "From the sound of it, I'm starting to not think that they were "animal attacks" in the first place." Jayce replies. "Well I guess the first thing we do is look for suspects and witnesses." Hopefully they can find a lead soon. Edited by Jayce, Sep 3 2015, 05:55 PM.

Eric Bashere didn't have a reason to be in Oshibana Town on this particular day, in fact if anything he probably had multiple reasons not to be there. He had things to do in other places throughout Fiore - he had a mission to complete in Belladonna, but he was waiting on one of his allies to finish his own mission; he had some informants to track down within Magnolia, but they were underground right now and it'd take effort; and he could probably have fixed up a leak in his roof. But y'know, all those things required effort and while Eric Bashere was rarely lazy sometimes he just had whims to do other things... and this was one of them. Still, as he sat in a small little café on one of the main streets, idly sipping his coffee and reading through a newspaper from Acacia he had brought with him on his way here Eric heard someone walking past mention something about "recent animal attacks" and he looked up with a quirked eyebrow, sipping once more as a waiter finally came around with the food he had ordered before, a large plate of eggs benedict and he casually beckoned the man over as he thought on what he had just heard. "Excuse me," Eric said calmly as the food came, "I just read something about animal attacks in Oshibana, is that right?" The waiter looked surprised at the question but at the same time a little relieved and he nodded a few times quickly, bending over to speak quietly. "Ah," the man said slowly, looking around quickly as well, "Yes sir, there has actually been a recent wave of animal attacks in the city but people are somewhat... on edge... about it as they have been quite odd..." Eric was about to ask him what he meant but the man walked away with a nod then, leaving him with more questions than he had had before... |

"Perhaps it's another werewolf?" Suna would say, giving him her idea on the cause of the attack. Jayce thought it was a good guess but he could only correct her. "Nah. Werewolves only appear on full moons, remember? If the attacks happened all last week then that wouldn't make sense as full moons are occur once every twenty-nine point five days." he exclaimed. "Right..." By that response he got from Suna, Jayce was almost positive that she was rolling her eyes in that gourd. He couldn't help himself that he studied this kind of stuff. "Alright, well let's hit the police station. We could get a log of details from the attacks." he would say. Being in this relatively small town, in only took about seven minutes max by the time they got there. Beside the train station was a small building labeled "Sheriff" and Jayce had stepped in. "Hello?" Jayce would say, not wanting to just barge in. At the front desk was an obese looking officer with his feet up comfortably on the desk. He was sipping coffee and munching on a donut with it. He greeted Jayce with a nod as he continued eating. "Uh..hi. I'm Jayce Welling from Blue Pegasus? I would like to request a log of the recent reports of animal attacks." he says. The officer swallows and clicks his tongue. "No need to worry, the Onibas Police has everything under control..." he says unworried, standing up. The officer reaches into a file cabinet and picks out seven papers before laying them on his desk for Jayce. Jayce grabs the papers and views them. Personally Jayce was a bit offended to see the authorities "handling" this the way they are. "Right..." Exiting the police station, he would view the reports and figure out his next step. Eating slowly as he pondered the idea of the animal attacks in this little backwoods nowhere hickville town Eric decided it really didn't have all that much to do with him and he had no real interest in pursuing it anyway. He wasn't a person who helped others, if someone had no value to him then he had no care for them and if it was only random people on the street that were being attacked then he didn't really mind. Of course he had a few contacts here in Oshibana, just as he had a few contacts in every town and city all around Fiore, but none of them had come to him with anything interesting in quite some time. So maybe it was time to pay them a visit. After he had finished eating, only a few minutes of time later, Eric rose, paid his bill and then was on his way out of the café towards one of the three locations his paid contacts were found. The first one wasn't far away, only a couple of streets over, but when he found the location the man wasn't home. That was... irksome, Eric was aware he had no other employment besides asking for information for him but since there hadn't been much in a while maybe he was drowning his sorrows or, rarity among rarities, actually out looking. There was a pub not too far away again where he liked to frequent and where Eric had another informant so it was to that location he went next. Oddly it appeared neither of them were at the bar he had expected, causing Eric to quirk an eyebrow in frustration. There was no further movements or exclamations of annoyance, just an eyebrow quirk. And with that he moved on as there were no clues in this area. His last accomplice was on the far side of town and was in public relations but it wasn't really a very long walk. Oshibana wasn't a huge town after all and this guy was dedicated to his job, hence one of the reasons Eric had "recruited" him so to speak. However upon arrival he found that this informant wasn't there either and that... that was a problem. One Eric could believe. Two was odd but also believable. But three? Three was an issue. |

Flipping through the few pages he got, he could see a victim on each. Jayce was a bit tired though. If anything, he would let another mage deal with this but unfortunately that isn't what Blue Pegasus stands for... Jayce sighed. "Alright. So let's check out this family. Their house is right down the block." he would say. So off he went. Only took a four minute walk, and when he approached the assumed house, he could see that it appeared like any other suburban house. Knocking on the door, he would promptly wait for a reply. After a minute delay, a woman had answered the door. "Uh. Hello. I'm Jayce from Blue Pegasus. I'm here regarding your uh... husband. -So very sorry." The woman was already in tears. "Yes. I've already reported him missing two weeks ago and the police don't really seem to care..." she informed. "Missing?" Jayce would ask. He would think that he would have been mauled or something. "Yes. He hasn't come back. So they categorized him with the other six animal attacks." she weeped. The woman wiped her tears and Jayce felt sorry for her. He sort of knows what it's like to find out a family member is missing. *Woof* Looking behind the woman, in the doorway, he could see the family dog acknowledge his presence. "Does your husband have any enemies?" he would ask. "Uhm.. Not that I know of. He was a great man and had lots of friends." Well that doesn't seem to help. It seemed like Jayce hasn't got any useful information. But then again, there was still six others to interview and Oshibana pedestrians. Seeing a dark-haired man (Eric) across the street, he would promptly approach. He was sort of at a dead-end here so asking another local wouldn't be a bad idea. "Hey man. Mind if I talk to you for a sec about the recent animal attacks here? Should take more than a couple minutes of your time." |

Standing outside of the public office of Oshibana and standing still and quiet as he though, Eric was... well, frankly he was a little taken aback at suddenly being approached by someone from the other side of the street, though he didn't let it show. His one eye locked on the man who had decided to walk up and question him, running over him and analysing every feature, storing it all away. He was young, probably not even twenty in age and he wasn't all that tall as far as young men went in Fiore. He was slender but clearly muscled underneath his clothing and his hairstyle was as evident as it was impractical - dreadlocks always seemed so dirty from Eric's point of view. Still, the man had approached him and clearly didn't know who he was which was a very large plus. So Eric simply smiled slightly and shook his head, the air around him of a polite stranger who was of no help, not a hint of the true danger that lurked beneath the surface of Eric Bashere showing through. "I'm afraid that's not something I can help you with," he said simply, "I am not a local here in Oshibana and I only just found out about them myself. In fact three of my friends have gone missing, possibly in relation. I sincerely hope you have luck in your endeavours friend, but I'll try and answer whatever I can - despite my lack of knowledge." Of course he had no proof of that, all he knew was that his three informants -the specific three men he had chosen in this whole entire town- were missing. Shrugging apologetically Eric waited for the incoming questions for a moment or two as Qui'Ran finally appeared from a nearby street and was soon by Eric's side playing on his little portable game station - his Gintendo 3DTTM. Still, if someone was investigating them then maybe they were quite a bit beyond just normal attacks. People rarely took attention that deeply anyway but if this was something more maybe his curiosity would be piqued... It kind of depended on what he was asked though. |

With a warm smile-smirk, Jayce was crossarmed. But became a little discouraged when the man had told him he was out of luck. "Hmm. Well I guess if you just got here then I don't think any of my questions would be answered... But it is strange that all three of your friends here had vanished -if they even vanished at all." Not long after he had finished his sentence, a young boy had appeared from a nearby street -playing on one of those lacrima power thingamajigs. "Oh, is that your little brother?" Jayce would say looking down at the occupied teen before looking back to the man. Perhaps this guy is a lead to finding out the mystery. THREE of his friends went missing which could probably be bad news if they are linked to the attacks. But he would rather not speak out the negative. "-Hey, you don't mind if I hang out with ya for a bit right? I would like to know where your friends had lived. There could be clues." "By the way, the name's Jayce. Jayce Welling." he would grin, holding his right hand out for a handshake. "Perhaps we can discuss this over some...." he would think, looking behind the man -seeing an ice cream parlor. "-some ice cream!" he blurts. "Maybe we can even solve this mystery together." |

Eric let the general comment on his friends pass by without his own reply, there was no need to allow such asanine conversation to progress when all it would turn into was a circle-jerk of "yes it's a shame" and "what can you do"'s and that kind of conversation bored Eric to tears. However he did open his mouth to reply about the younger brother query, the pre-teen Qui'Ran, when the boy-thing did it for him. "Is that any of your goddamn business bruh?" he said quite pointedly and mockingly, not even looking up from his game, "You don't know us, who the hell are you anyway you didn't even introduce yourself." Of course this was said after Jayce introduced himself, but the summon had clearly not been paying attention. "Actually he just did," Eric interjected softly but firmly, "You were just caught up in your game again and decided to be a rude dude instead." "It's not my fault this jackass made himself less interesting than this dope as heck RPG," Qui'Ran retorted, "And you didn't say who we were either." "Ah, you're right, where are my manners," Eric nodded, looking up at the young man once again, "I am Eric and this is Quin, we're simply here on vacation. He's my nephew, not my brother as well, though I know we look quite similarly related." Of course that's because Qui'Ran was just Eric's younger body but Jayce didn't need to know that. "If you wish to stay that is fine," Eric inclined his head slowly, "My friends lived over on the main street but their house is... empty. Entirely empty, as though nobody had ever been there. I've already been and checked and the entire place is as though it was a newly built house - even the furnishings are gone." |

Regarding to asking about Eric's companion, the kid seemed to reply in a snapping manor. Suna out of everyone thought he was quite rude. "Why I never..." Suna gasps at the reaction. But Jayce didn't even take it to heart. "Ha. Kids say the darnedest things." Jayce say in response to the comment. The reason was mostly to let the new ally know that he wasn't offended. Eric had introduced himself and informed that the boy was actually his cousin. Which didn't really different to Jayce from his original assumption. Though he did find him very straight-forward. "Hm. Your friends. They could very well be connected to the attacks." he would say crossarmed. The guy seemed pretty responsible, and by the looks of his body, he looks physically capable. By the looks of his appearance, he also looks like the age group he should be around. "Perhaps you would like to take up my offer of waiting out the day until night to get to the bottom of this. The attacks only happen then. -And of course, since I'm offering, the motel bill would be mine." he would say. "I'm a mage, of course, and also a searcher of the weird and wondrous wonders of Fiore." |

To the idea of Eric's "friends" being related to the attacks that Jayce apparently was investigating here in Oshibana Eric could not say, though there were few other explanations so far presenting themselves instead. In all honesty they could have just run away, though after what happened to the last pair of informants who tried that Eric knew that most of his spy network were far far too frightened to try something like that. And if they tried to sell him out instead? Oh boy. "It's quite possible they're involved in it in some way," he conceded however, nodding thoughtfully and casually juggling his knife between the fingers of his right hand while in thought, "Be it victims or perpetrators too, they aren't the most savoury of characters when they're drunk... which is almost all the time. That's part of the reason I came here, to stage an intervention for them, and I just assumed they were out on a bender and was waiting for them to get back." He smiled at the offer of the motel though, inclining his head -though in thanks or acceptance was unclear at first- before shaking it slightly. "I have my own room," he said simply, "And I plan on staying for at least another two days so if you would like to meet up later in the day once night itself falls I can be amenable to that. I have some small tolerance and use of magic-" that was an understatement but his tone was mild and his acting perfect, "-and I am quite useful in a fight even without it. I myself am more of a wanderer, simply out to explore rather than to seek." It was an interesting idea and not a terrible one, so he would go along with it for now just to see how it would develop. |
