Daine tapped his foot against the floor a few times in a rhythmic pattern. It had been stuck in his head since earlier that morning when he passed some street musicians. Shaking his head as though it would spare him from trying to recall the lyrics. “Why does this tune stick so much?” He said in an inelegant but true way; the performer had been busking, a blind man who had a good degree of talent, at first Daine had thought about sitting next to him and beating on a box or something in the same tune to hope some of the coins had flown his way, but his luck had it that a knight had been walking past at the time. A stern woman who reminded him of the teacher he used to pretend he had to get sympathy gifts from girls near where he grew up. Walking down the street, his only option now was to play kick the can with a piece of junk on the floor, glancing up intermittently to hope he could identify some easy mark or at least someone he could entertain himself by annoying them for the day. It wasn’t exactly the most exciting of lives, but Daine enjoyed it none the less, he was sure it was more interesting than sitting around behind a desk or working on some manual labour job where he had to play by someone else’s rules. “No, I am a lone wolf! A free man!” Daine exclaimed at the top of his voice, normally he’d have gotten a few glances in his direction, not that he was bothered by a little attention, truthfully he enjoyed it. But this time he had found himself in a quieter part of town, it seemed like everyone had moved to the main streets or they just didn’t like the area. Either way the Wold wasn’t fussed, it just gave him a bit of time to think about what he’d occupy himself with if no situation reared itself. |

Oshibana Town wasn’t exactly like Chrysanthemum but Rishi was willing to do the best he could in this short reassignment. Apparently, as part of his orientation over Fiore grounds, it was best to go about the towns more frequently having troublemakers. It would help him earn some experience as well as earn his keep, they said back at the barracks and he didn’t think they were kidding. This town was smaller compared to the cities but it did feel like there was something afoot. Still, he went about it quite optimistically and just had to keep his mind clear and open for anything that may occur. He didn’t have to go to the nearest command station to announce his arrival either. Part of this mission was to do it discreetly and candidly. It was partly because the central command was worried that the small town’s guards were slacking off and that they only showed a good face when one of the knights were in town. And seeing how he didn’t exactly look like a night – closer to being a forest boy to be exact – he was the right person to tap this so-called secret mission with. Thus, it was the case that got him walking around the smaller streets of Oshibana Town. Luckily for him, with many travelers and mages in this country, it wasn’t at all strange to find someone with a long staff sticking out from his back. He was still a bit shy about using it though, as it was one of those memento gifts from his village, so he only stuck with simple training with it everyday as opposed to truly using it in its full potential. And it was in one of this walks that he suddenly jumped about when the guy he had just passed by had yelled. He turned to look at the man with confusion. “Something wrong?” he asked genuinely. |

Part of Daine felt like streaking through the town to see if anyone actually battered an eye. But another part was sure he would have a knight like recurrence the moment he attempted to cause trouble. He had heard this town had a shady side and little indiscriminate things like faking busking or public indecency would be ignored as the ‘man’ was too busy dealing with the bigger troubles. But he was sure it was one of those days. Deciding to behave for the time being, Daine ended up simply walking forward, and walking some more, followed by a slight canter then returning to a stroll. All the streets he headed down were as barren as the first. It was a little odd to see places so empty of people but thinking back to his earlier point he stumbled on the idea of a turf war or just it being the ‘shady’ part of town where all the dealings were done backdoor. “Seriously, nobody?” Daine cried out in a loud and echoing tone as he turned the corner to yet another clean but empty street. “You have to be kidding me, where the hell is everyone?” he called out, only to be greeted by a faint reverberation of ‘Anyone Anyone Anyone Anyone’ Giving up before he could parade himself around the desolate portion of town until insanity, the young werewolf took a one-eighty and headed back in the direction that he did hope had people. “Hi.” Daine said slowly in a cautious and questioning tone, looking at the person in front of him, he had been expecting to see the crowds and fellow figures sooner rather than later, but this was too fortunate even for me. “If you want to mug me, I have no money on me.” Daine said, his questioning tone stretching throughout all of his words as he eyed they guy up and down slowly. “If it’s a turf war, I’m on whatever side you’re on.” He continued, hoping for some break in the silence. Mainly because he knew he was digging himself a hole. One that potentially could be used as his own grave, a sombre but true fact with how Daine could frustrate people enough for them to warn others about his antics. “Hi.” He repeated again, his head tilting to stare straight at the person in front of him. |

Rishi was looking at the strange man with a smile, though he was really observing him very well. One thing he learned in the wilderness is that when you want to observe creatures in the wild, it was best to act natural and avoid from overreacting to every single thing. So when the said person asked if he was about to get mugged, Rishi merely shook his head and continued to smile. The latter continued to speak some turf war and so Rishi raised his hands, crossed them, and lifted a hand to his chin as if in deep thought, slightly nodding too. But when the other said ‘hi’ again, Rishi returned to smiling as well. “Hello,” said Rishi, bowing in front of the other for a good long while before slowly rising up again to look from side to side. He wasn’t entirely expecting anything to come from this encounter with a stranger but he had suddenly remembered about his mission in town. To observe and make sure to help in subduing any troublemakers. He shrugged at the thought for a bit before he waved at the man (note, with a smile) and then started to walk away. As he did so, he would take out a folded paper from his side pocket, which revealed a crappy hand drawn map of the said town. There were some symbols on the paper as well, denoting the different stores and buildings. For now, he was simply to patrol this small street before he goes to the next and then maybe by noon he could head straight to the guard station to observe their daily meanderings. And once decided, he nodded to no one in particular, folded the paper again and kept before facing back to call the other person. “Where can I find muggers? You said something about that earlier, didn’t you?” |

Something put Daine’s mind at ease when it seemed that the person was a little glazed over to his speech, almost as though he had no idea of what was going on. If that was the case then he was sure enough going to milk this guy for something, it seemed like the most fun thing to do around here. The moment the person dropped his guard slightly to look at the paper, Daine rushed up in a non-threatening type of way to stand next to him, trying to get a glance at what was written. Although it didn’t look like anything important or expensive, he was sure that he could milk what information he found out. “Oh man.” Daine said, not making it in time to figure out what was going on. Ignoring the question posed to him, he simply looked at the fellow blankly for a moment, thinking through his next move. In his line of work it was best to never throw all your cards down at once, and when you did put anything on the table, throw a three and claim a king. “My name Is Daine. A jack of all trades really, I can do this and that and a little more of that.” He said, the smile growing on his face, although looking friendly it was a little more nefarious than that. “So are you some sort of mage or something, you know that running right into trouble isn’t the best start to do things.” He said, glancing up and down the guy. He had heard of guilds occasionally being hired by town’s folk to handle their problems. The worse the problem the more money they were given. Some even got an upfront bonus and expenses covered. Rifling through his own backpack, Daine pulled out a few things from the canvas hold all, they were pieces of paper with things scribbled down on them, numbers and other sorts of things. Honestly they were things he had used in this sort of environment before and they hadn’t worked, but it was worth another try. “I have a few things that may be useful to whatever you need doing.” Daine said, taking a seat on the floor and he plunged deeper and deeper in, even at one point throwing out underwear in the direction of his marked target. “Ahh here it is.” He said, pulling out a small leather bound journal. “I’m sure this will give you whatever info you need. But personally I think a meal first would be better. Stuff always seems easier to go through over food. Don’t you think?” Daine said. Moving back over to the other guy, a grin spread across his face as he tried to goad him into supplying Daine with some free food. It was a win win really, Daine would eat and this guy would have the pleasure of the werewolf’s company, |

Rishi was slightly surprised when he had turned and only to find that the stranger from earlier had seemingly crossed the distance between them in a flash. Still, he smiled as the other introduced himself to him, for which Rishi would respond and light bow, “I’m Rishi, son of the Tiger Warrior of the far east, to the mountains and the forest of the headhunters.” He had only finished saying so before he remembered proper etiquette and felt a little embarrassed, so with a flustered face he quickly corrected himself, “I’m sorry. It’s not really headhunting as the word says it. I mean, we don’t necessarily have to cut our opponent’s head for no reason. Just for defense, and we make sure to sterilize it with boiling water before he break the jaw and make them handles for the gongs. But it’s all really for defense of the village and we don’t do it to go after other tribes so please don’t think badly of me.” He quickly regained his composure and observed the man who introduced himself as Daine to him. Then he spoke calmly, “No, I’m not a mage. I’m just a normal warrior. Though I’m here to make sure no one gets intro trouble. It would seem as though this town has a habit of putting all the troublemakers together or so the reports say. And the guards in the town are slacking off from properly doing to their job. But all those are rumors and I must investigate the bottom of it.” He didn’t know about casual conversations but he hoped he was able to respond in a way that didn’t seem like he was divulging his entire mission at hand, but only enough to gain some sympathy and help to go about it. Daine seemed to be suddenly in the mood for helping and began to pull out some items from his bag. Rishi leaned forward to see what it was, dodging the thrown underwear before sighing. This man was certainly strange, he thought, but he still smiled nonetheless. Then a journal was put into the fore and from the looks of it, he only wanted a meal in exchange for it and it seemed quite fair, but Rishi was on a tight budget since he was still fairly new. But he had a quick solution to that. “Ah! No problem. I brought some rations with me. It’s full of nutrients that one meal will keep you perky till the next day. Even the guys at the barracks had been asking me for the recipe about it, hehe,” he said eagerly as he took something from his small satchel. It was a fistful of something wrapped in a leaf and tied with roasting string. It had a good aroma too. He gave one to Daine in thanks. “I hope this is alright. I don’t exactly have money with me since it’s much more of a hassle when you can just go to the forest and hunt your food for free, and quite delicious too.” And so he arranged the contents of his satchel once more before closing the flap. “Ah, that’s called dinuguang fried rice onigiri... pretty much a fried rice style of cooking with pig innards and ears, boiled in its blood and seasoned with a few spices and sesame seeds. Please, have a go at it and tell me if it suits you.” He would add with a fervent smile on his face, leaning closer to the other and seemingly waiting for the response. |

“Headhunter, cool.” Daine said, gleefully accepting free food as he started to circle his prey. He had no idea how he was going to do that, but the fun about it was finding out as he went along. “Have you gotten many heads?” He asked, circling around to the guys back to inspect every angle of him, taking in all the details he could. “Because I haven’t. Never really came up. I think one or two people want my head from the sounds of what they said, but I think that’s more figurative than actually.” Without finishing the sentence, Daine gestured across his throat, doing his best impression of being deceased before coming back to life to stuff more of the free food into his mouth. “You see, I have a Penchant for finding trouble, a sixth sense if you will.” He continued. Now looking over the weapon the guy was carrying, fir what he could see it was a big big stick, but big sticks could hurt. “It’d be hard to take someone’s head off with that.” He said calmly, pointing towards the weapon but not touching it, he’d had some run ins with tribal people. They were very possessive over things. ‘No touching my weapon; No stealing my food. I need my clothes, give them back.’ The latter did seem plausible, Daine had since learnt it was wrong to steal another man’s clothes while he was bathing to try and sell. “Do you think we learn through mistakes or from others?” Daine cut into to small conversation he was having with himself in his head. “I personally believe we have to make our own mistakes, and eventually we learn that some things just don’t work. Take me for example, generally I don’t work but I don’t make many mistakes.” Daine continued. Weaving his words around in circles, trying to test the waters to see if he could make the bozo-tribal warrior confused enough. If so he was going to get everything free for a week off of him. |

OOC: Daine will walk away from this alive no matter what. Though I won't promise he won't get a broken nose and/or an atomic wedge if he tries to interfere with what Ranth came here to do. It was funny that as Daine spoke about 'attracting trouble', the worst kind of trouble was walking down the street at a leisurely pace. Ranth Amanite wore white on the day he was to kill a knight and as he made his way down the deserted street that his target was to be found in, he couldn't help but be impressed by the pull that his employer had in this place. The organisation that the knight known as Rishi was here to hunt had not taken kindly to the scrutiny and just so happened to be aligned with Grimoire Heart. As Grimoire Heart wasn't in the business of allowing its clients and business partners to be compromised, arrangements had been made and a substantial sum of money had changed hands resulting in Ranth being dispatched to... take care... of the nuisance before it could become a thorn in the sides of either organisation. It was his first officially sanctioned assassination and he found that it wasn't nearly as exciting or glamorous as the spy movies made it out to be. At any rate, when Daine and Rishi noticed that the streets were unusually empty, the truth was that this was the doing of the very same organisation that they were investigating and it was all done in preparation for Ranth's arrival. There would be no witnesses to what was going to happen... or at least that was the plan. But as Ranth spotted the knight, whose appearance he'd long since memorised he noted the presence of a second individual and he sighed. Of course things could never be simple could they? Approaching the pair, he overheard the end of what the unidentified man was saying and he couldn't help but find it amusing given what was about to happen. "I think you'll find that it's best to learn from other people's mistakes", he said by way of getting the attention of the two men. "For instance... your friend here has been sticking his nose where it doesn't belong and this has upset some rather influential people", Ranth said with obvious reference to Rishi. |

All form of the casual atmosphere had easily disappeared as soon as the third party of this strange encounter had appeared. Almost instantly, Rishi eyed the stranger with much seriousness and distrust. In fact, if expressions could speak for themselves, his would no doubt be shouting along the lines of ”I DON’T TRUST YOU BASTARD” but perhaps stepping aside, and quickly grabbing hold of his Unicorn Staff was enough to make it known that Rishi knew exactly what this stranger had meant when he had suddenly appeared before them. "I believe it is every right of any man in this kingdom to be wary of the goings-on of society, particularly when it involves innocent lives at stake," said Rishi as he took one more step forward to shield his newly acquainted friend from this seemingly dangerous character. "Dangerous times have not yet pass and it already appears as this town may have fallen from grace all too fast. Quite suspicious, if you ask me." He could feel his nerves building up as he slowly came to realize who this person was. He had been quite diligent with his work at the barracks to know the salient points of the Knights as well as their most wanted watch list. This man seemed all too familiar with a particular profile about a certain incident in Ach'Var leading to murder and escape. "It's rather frightening to think I’d find myself having to face you, though perhaps it is an honor in a morbid sense.” He paused for a moment before he glanced lightly back to Daine. “It’s best you leave now, friend. This seems like a problem you’d not want to be part of.” Then, with a twist of his staff, the alignment of the shaft triggered for the effect and at one end of the staff appeared a flaming trident edge, and without hesitation, he shot a flaming impact blast towards the stranger. unicorn staff

Daine had gotten used to surprises, he had gotten used to dealing with them in the best way for his situation but one thing he didn’t like were surprises when he was about to close a deal. Turning around to look at the person who had interrupted him trying to sell his whatever he was trying to sell, he had forgotten by this point, thinking on your toes meant that there was little in the way of a script to fall back on. “Hey.” Daine said, to both his mark and the new walking shampoo advert who had appeared further down the street who was approaching. “There’s no need to fight over me, you can both buy me lunch.” Daine said, not being able to help himself but crack a poor joke to try to diffuse the situation. Although he did often end up in odd situations he disliked violence, he’d been chased, people try to hit him and of course being hit and chased at the same time, but he wasn’t one for turning it back around on the other person. Picking up his bag he took a few steps back, ready to run if the pair were is some sort of odd stick up routine, one of them lured people into a false sense of security and the other came to ambush. “A bit of a crap ambush, huh.” Daine said to himself, now a good half a dozen steps from the pair, he wasn’t the fastest man on earth and in the maze of streets where their weren’t many people. “If you are going to mug me, I don’t have much stuff. But if you’re going to have a lovers quarrel, mind if I watch?” |
