Yenene simply nodded in response as he was addressed, following along after the two human(oids), keeping an eye out while drinking in the Fairy Tail's mage reaction to, well, receiving praise basically from the other mage. Kain on the other hand pouted a little, not sure how to take being taught a lesson as it was; an almost childish look on his face as he looked away, ears going a little limp. He quickly recovered though at word of approaching the temple, giving a quick sign of affirmation, "Right, of course. Best to be vigilant." Walking into a, what would be polite to call neglected area of town, the inugami mage had his ears pick up, his tail straightening as he kept his senses on alert without glancing around to make it obvious; heightened hearing, scent, and touch, had some use. "I didn't even realise that this city had an area this bad..." Kain half mumbling as he walked. "Well you know, the cycle of urban renewal and decay is almost as certain as the cycle of life and death, there's always somewhere like this in every city, you should know that well enough, Kain." The half demon didn't give anything in response save for the flick of his tail, the boy preferring to not remember how he got by in other places before joining his current guild. Turning down an alleyway Kain came to halt at Zak's request, his head tilted to the side as he thought about the information given to him, taking a quick glance where Zak suggested. "Well, I don't think you need all three of us to make a distraction, I can easily take one out from even this far." The half demon shrugging, trying to 'play it cool' but alas being a teenager snuck onto his face as he grinned, canines showing. "Just go out there and talk to them, and well, when you see one of them crumple, take out the other. Simple." The top half of a shadowy canine being visible in Kain's own shadow, before it sunk from sight again, Yenene in the mean time taking on his more preferred human form, one with golden eyes, brown hair, and if nothing else a nice coat as he stretched out his new limbs, "Well, shall we go introduce ourselves to the gentleman on guard duty?" |

Zak nodded and swept the black duster he was wearing to one side so that he could draw Devourer quickly. He could have used magic but he found that the power he possessed was better saved for less subtle situations. The fact that he was effectively immortal coupled with extended strength and ability with a sword meant that he could afford to save his magic until he needed it. He smiled at Yenene and said, “Yes. Let us make their acquaintance. I do believe they will be rather pleased to see us.” Having said that the demon hunter turned to Kain and added, “We will go to the guard on the left so the guard on the right is yours. We’ll keep our man talking until you’ve done what is necessary. Come Yenene, let us make our move!” Putting on a neutral expression, Zak began to stride towards the guards with purpose. They both looked up but didn’t appear to react yet. It was likely that they were waiting for some sign that would indicate whether or not the men approaching were friend or foe. As they got within earshot, Zak said, “Good morning! We wish to ask a question or two of you.” They focused on the left-hand guard as they’d intended. He glared at them warily and said, “What sort of questions are we talking here?” Zak turned his delicate features in Yenene’s direction and then back to the guard. He said, “Well what questions indeed? Yenene - what do we want to know from these gentlemen?” It was no time to be playful but the man couldn’t resist having a little fun with the guard before they had to dispatch him. It was a slight gamble not to have arranged a signal with Kain but Zak was confident enough in the speed of his sword draw that he decided to chance it. He was pretty sure he’d know when the half-demon had made his move. He felt his heart rate speeding up in anticipation. He always got this way when combat was imminent. |
