Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

The shadow dogs came flying out for them, showing to be a form of magic attack. Syeena clearly didn't mind being a bit rough with the transformed citizens. They were werewolves, and outside of having silver, they would survive. Light mages always pressed the small details. For now, Syeena focused on her enemy before them.

"MRREEEOWWW! I had it with all the stupid muts! Let's finish this jerk so I can turn him into a scratching post!" Hex said, fluttering in the air beside them.

As Varriden moved to parry one of the wolves, Syeena quickly jumped up and over the first attack. Using her magic, she recalled the cards she had previously used up till now. She still had on her invisibility cloak-- known as the Moon garments. She flipped in the air and drew another handful of throwing cards. With flicks of her arms, she threw the cards towards the wolfish priest and attempted to strike him.

The wolf priest moved away from the cards, dodging them easily as he backed away. Another one of his wolves were now about to try and catch Syeena in its large jaws. They were soon upon her as the wolf ecliped the priest's view of her and attempted to strike, which would of dealt powerful damage...

... FFRSSSH!!

Syeena suddenly appeared a foot away from the priest, teleporting to one of the very cards she had thrown. She had evaded damage from the shadow wolf and now in range to strike all in one move!

Landing to the ground in a crouch, she swung one of her legs to try and kick the werewolf in the face. He got glanced by it, causing him to back up but she soon made chase, pressing to keep up with him and hit him with hand to hand combos. For a girl, she was very skilled to fight with her hands.

Still, the priest was not about to end things so soon as he extended a claw and from his black fur-- a claw like hand emerged from his palm, and proceeded to grab Syeena! She was caught! Syeena shouted as the claw held her, arms and and legs enclosed in by the claw.

"Got you, my pretty!" he growled, a gleam of delight in his eyes showing clear wicked intent.

Syeena didn't seem terribly miffed about being rough with the transformed villagers, but here, at least, they were free to fight as they had to - these 'hell hounds' might be strong, but they were magical constructs, meaning there was no loss of life if they were smashed, they simply returned to the realm from which they'd been conjured in the first place. That much Varriden recalled in his studies during his time spent in Empyra's House Thalassa. "If you insist on going all out on something, these are the ones to do it against - they're constructs, not life-forms, so we can do as we must." Varriden said, belting one hell hound aside to slash at a second one.

Syeena threw a handful of cards at the wolf priest - or so he assumed, as cards suddenly shot from out of nowhere towards the furry figure - but the priest dodged them, one of his wolves lunging towards where Syeena's cards had been thrown from. But once again, Syeena teleported to her cards, one of the ones that Syeena had thrown a moment ago in the priest's direction, ending up behind the priest. She drove him back with a kick and a flurry of melee blows, doing fairly well, until the wolf got crafty and used its overly-long claws to trap Syeena's arms and legs.

Brushing another hell hound aside with the blade of his sword, Varriden ran towards the two, swinging his sword in an upward, diagonal slice - he didn't hit the priest directly, but instead slashed through the claws binding Syeena.

At this time as Varriden lunged and was about to use his sword to slice the shadow claw and free Syeena. As the wolf priest sneered and gripped her tight, something black and furry crossed his line of vision... and it had wings. THe mischievous Exceed Hex flew in front of the werewolf and smirked a cat-like grin. "Hello!" she said in a cheery tone. Then right in his face, she let out a blast of blackish-violet flames from her paws and right at the werewolf's face! The man growled a curse and backed off, causing the claw to lose its grip and Varriden to slice through it with ease!

Syeena got loose and flipped out of the claw's dissolving hold. She flipped through the air and landed gracefully onto the ground. At that time, they could now see what Hex did. "Superstitious!" the cat cheered, stating her spell. It was a powerful curse that sapped the enemy's strength and stamina-- but a lot more than that. It made a person affected more vulnerable to darkness elemental magics. The wolf seemed confused by it, blinking after the charm was shoved at him.

"Wha-- what is this?" he gasped, looking at the dark aura that now fluttered around him.

Rising up to her feet, Syeena smirked at the leader of this part of the demon cult. "Sometimes you need darkness to fight darkness, don't you think , Cheshire?" she said, pet naming Varriden in a playful manner. Now that she was under the effects of Hex's Superstition, the game was now in their favor. "I know just the infernal tool to use against the likes of you, doggy..."

With another flick of her wrist, she brought out another card. This one glowed with a dark aura around it, part of its own power. Inside the card was a raven perched upon the top of an animal's skull. Below the picture of the ominous illustration, was written the title of this card. Number 13... The Death.

She tossed the card up before her, and it began to hover before her with her own power. As her magic power swelled, she entered a strange dance, her body swaying sensually to a rhythm of her own. As she did this, she spoke an incantation in words that Varriden wouldn't know. Enochian-- the language of the angels and demons. "Teloc Vpaah! " she said, the language being 'WIngs of Death'.

With the final words and a pose with her hands behind her head--- the card released an aura of darkness around her. Cards flew once again, having her now almost naked save the glow of dark cards that sensually covered her form. Sure a good psychological tactic, but part of the ritual to use this magic. Or so they say... but as the cards of darkness swirled around her, shadows from her form stretched skyward to the ceiling of the church. They soon gathered and took shape, glows of orange light now dancing among them. It began to take shape and soon as it did, a bird-like cry echoed through the cathedral. It formed a strange raven-shaped bird with orange runes upon it, a type of summoned creature made by Syeena's card magic. The very aura of this creature was wicked as it sprawled its wings, nearly eclipsing the entire ceiling.

Shocked, the werewolf priest looked at the size of the bird. "What the-- you conjure the darkness as well! You should work for us, you bitch!!" the werewolf growled, clearly surprised Syeena, a dark mage, worked against the demon cult.

As the darkness swirled around Syeena's naked form, she smirked, her face still visible under the storm of chaos around her. "Hm, I suppose your infernal partners never told you about us Umbra Witches. We are not bitches-- We are witches that you dont *%$^ with. And one last thing," she said as she drew two fingers to her lips. "We are NO ONE'S Pawns!"

She blew a kiss at the werewolf's direction, and at that moment, the raven's eyes lit up. WIth a final shrieking caw, it flew itself forward. The bird launched itself from the air towards the werewolf priest, and soon crashed into it. Upon impact and a scream from the target, the bird literally exploded, becoming a dome-shaped wave of darkness that rocked the cathedral! Statues were blown apart, chairs and debris sent scattering.

As Varriden ran at the wolf priest to cut Syeena free, he growled and gripped her tighter, clearly intent on not letting her out of his grasp that easily, but the fight-to-be was interrupted by Hex, who flew over and shot purplish flames into the priest's face, who didn't let go of Syeena, was sufficiently distracted enough to let Varriden cut Syeena free, though the list of people who could focus clearly after having their face set on fire was few, if Varriden had to guess.

"Nice timing, Hex," Varriden said, backing off from the priest briefly, as while clearly distracted, he wasn't done yet.

Neither was Hex, it turned out. She cast another spell on the unfortunate were-priest, the priest seeming to suddenly seem weaker and almost fatigued, as if something had zapped a portion of his strength. Syeena joked about fighting darkness with darkness, but Varriden merely scowled at the nickname. "You've already got a cat, so I'll thank you not to name me after another one, thank you very much," Varriden grumbled. "Besides, I don't have any spells similar to the abilities of the cat in that book."

Syeena pulled out another card that seemed different from the previous ones. Tossing it into the air and speaking a bit of garbled words, an aura flowed over Syeena, at which point Varriden looked away, knowing what was likely to follow. She can summon a bunch of different outfits and cards, but can't summon a wall to change behind? Varriden thought with a sigh as he waited for her brief transformation to finish.

When he looked back, there was a skeletal bird of magic flying near the ceiling with rune ablaze along it's form. "Alright, I'll admit that that one's kinda cool," Varriden said. "Though I have a fondness for runes as a hobby and partially as a career, so I might be biased."

The wolf seemed even more surprised, shouting that they should be working together if they used the same element type. "Not quite that simple, fuzzball." Varriden said. Syeena sent the bird at the priest and it quickly exploded, sending debris in every direction, Varriden hearing bits of it clank off his metal armor.

"Well played. Assuming that got him. I hope defeating him undoes the curse, otherwise this could get complicated."

The wave of darkness pretty much trashed anything left standing in the church. Someone was going to be in trouble with the man upstairs for this destruction, but it didn't bother Syeena that much. The wave of darkness magic faded, revealing now a strange sight. A dried up husk of a body that was the werewolf priest, looking almost skeletal. Soon he burst into flames and became dust, the fate of most demons to die a horrible death. They had won.

As the howl of the darkness wave faded, Syeena twirled-- still naked by the way-- causing the darkness to embrace her. Her features soon faded back into her regular black and orange outfit, the twirling dramatically tossing her hair back as she finished her spell casting.

She glanced over the church, seeing the clear damage she had done, along with the pile of werewolves knocked out cold. Suddenly, after a shimmer of magic, the wolves slowly morphed back into people, sleeping quietly and unharmed considering the beating they had gotten before. "Looks like that is that. Nice job," Syeena said as she saw Hex the cat flutter towards her. The cat flipped in the air with her wings.

"Give me paw!" the cat said and Syeena gave her a high five into her paw.

The true purpose was to undermine the demon cult and they did just that. Of course, now that the mission was good and done, Syeena remembered one last detail. She turned to Varriden, knowing how he had seen so much of her-- both figuratively and literally. Especially the fact she was a Grimore Heart mage. She could only wonder what his reaction was.

"Oh, well... now you know," Syeena said casually, the dorky reporter persona now gone and replaced with this cool determined woman who now stood before the Archive mage. "What's the matter? Cat caught your tongue?" Syeena teased.

Hex flicked her tail impatiently at the pun, wanting to see what Varriden intended to do now that their mutual enemy was good and gone. Would he try to arrest her? If he could that is.

The explosion from the rune-like bird destroyed a good chunk of the church, but given what the citizens of the town had been through, it was probably the least of their concerns, and even if it was a concern, it was a small price to pay for being able to resume being fully human again. When the smoke cleared, the priest was still standing, but not in the way he would have liked - the body of the priest was withered, as if dried up, and swiftly erupted into flames, collapsing into a pile of ash on the scorched tiles of the partially-destroyed church.

Varriden kept his gaze on the remains of the priest to make sure it was gone as Syeena resumed her normal attire. Varriden glanced at the pile of werewolves they'd defeated, and within a few moments, their bodies began to shimmer and waiver like mirages, and suddenly they turned back into humans, all of them out-cold, which was probably for the best, as there would be alot of questions when they woke up.

Syeena and Hex high-fived, then Syeena turned to Varriden. Unbeknownst to Syeena, Varriden actually hadn't seen a thing aside from her guild mark, having looked away each time. He only knew of her guild affliations because one of her outfits earlier in the battle had left the guild mark exposed. She seemed to wait to see what he would do, now that he knew she was a dark mage.

Varriden glanced at Syeena, then sighed, closing his eyes as his metal armor faded away by crumbling into pieces, the pieces turning into light and dissolving into nothingness. "By rights, I should be dealing with any rogue dark mages, but there's been enough blood shed for one day, so I'm going to call it a day. If we meet again, might have to be different, but I think there's been enough fighting for now." Varriden turned and walked towards what was left of the church's double doors, pushing one open, as the bar had been destroyed in the final attack. "I'm going to go make sure the entire village turned back, not just the ones in here." Varriden said, stepping out into the first rays of the morning light, the door slowly swinging shut behind him.

Syeena almost seemed a bit disappointed that he didn't jump to try and arrest her. She had half expected him to try and stop her. Still his rather neutral reaction to the fact she was a dark mage and by dark, simple affiliation to her guild and all. All he left was a warning he would deal with her if they should meet again. Syeena kept her eyes on the young man, clearly intriqued by him.

"Daww," Hex said, clearly finding the attitude rude as well. The cat was clearly sarchastic and always made matters a bit more annoying as she soon made a face and stuck her tongue out at Varriden. "Sounds like someone is afraid he might lose to a couple of giiiirrrlllssss" she sang, trying to egg Varridan on.

Syeena merely sighed at her cat's attitude, as she brushed some of her hair back and gestured to the cards in the room. She willed the cards back, knowing well the fight was over. "Is that so?" Syeena said. She had to agree, she was put off by his attitude towards her. It was never smart to talk down or ill of a Grimore Heart mage. Less of all an Umbra Witch. At that moment, she conjured one of her cards-- The Magician. She threw the card towards the door frame past Varriden. Upon striking the wood, she appeared in his path, her arm against the door frame, as if to stop his advance. "And just how would you plan on 'dealing with me', cheshire," she asked, likely teasing him further with that word and indication.

As eventually Varriden could see from the outside, more people began to appear. Those who had been under the curse were now walking out from their homes and such-- realizing the curse of the werewolf that had been forced upon them had gone.

Varriden noted the disappointed look on Syeena's face. You'd think she wouldn't want to be arrested, particularly after having to deal with that werewolf nonsense, Varriden thought. Girl's a bit too eager for conflict.

The cat was even worse, going so far as to taunt him. "Depends, are you TRYING to pick a fight right now? I would have thought you'd have gotten that out of your system, judging by him," Varriden said, pointing at the pile of ash that used to be the werewolf priest, "And them," he added, gesturing to the pile of unconscious humans in the back of the room - and fortunate for them, as they were in the part of the room that hadn't been destroyed when the rune-bird had struck the priest. "By my job alone, I'd normally be obligated to deal with dark mages, but given that you provided aid during a troublesome situation, I'm willing to overlook your choice of employer for the time being. This is a kindness. I heartily recommend accepting it, as fighting someone I fought alongside is unpleasant to me, regard of who or what they are."

Varriden turned to leave, having stopped in the doorway to argue, only for a card to hit the wood and Syeena to appear before him - which didn't surprise Varriden at all, as this was the fourth time he'd seen that trick in the past hour. Syeena then joined in on Hex's taunt with one of her own - how exactly he would 'deal' with her. Varriden sighed, closing his eyes. "One, I told you about the nickname thing already. And two," Varriden said, opening his eyes, revealing his Decipher tech over them, changing the appearance of his eyes. "Because I'm an Archive mage - I can learn the purpose and casting of any spell I see, and I saw every technique you cast, meaning I know how they work as good as you do now, while I only used two or three of my own. So unless you've got some grand finishing spell up your sleeve, I know what you can do already, and can prepare accordingly. Or you can step aside for now, accept my offer, and we can settle this without games."

What he said made sense so Syeena did indeed had no real desire to pick a fight with him. Though from her point of view, she did save HIS ass with her magic over the other way around. Still she probably should cut him a break. "Ah so there is a sense of reason to your tight-reasoned light mages after all. That's good," she commented as she rested with her hand against the doorframe. "Hm... though you could bare to be a bit more open minded."

It was then that Varriden revealed his power-- the power of an Archive Mage. Syeena had suspected his magic was similar to that or spot on due to the nature of how he had transferred magic power to her, and was observing her well. However, while most mages would take great anger at having their magic copied without permission, Syeena merely smirked at him. "So, saw anything you liked then?" she said, clearly putting on a flirtatious tone as she commented to him. A clear fliratious line of one could easily hint on. At that moment, she leaned closer to Varriden, and raised a finger under his chin, violating his personal space just a little. "So I saved your ass AND let you have some of my magic, hm? The way I see it... you're the one who still owes me a bit more? Am I right?"

It was very obvious Syeena was teasing Varriden and very likely would put him into an embarrassed state being so close to the flirtatious woman.

"Oh, get a room, you two..." Hex meowed from behind them. The cat merely licked her paw and tidied up her ears through the witch's hat she wore.

Syeena let out a soft chuckle, wondering what Varriden's reaction could be later, but she didn't give him time to really answer. Right in front of his line of vision, she teleported again, this time right behind Varriden with her back towards him. As she did she walked over to Hex, who sprang up her wings again and fluttered beside her.

Turning to him she gave a flirtatious wink at him and jumped up. Hex took hold of the back of her outfit and lifted her up. The two flew up for the broken stained glass window of the church. "Good luck explaining to the town what happened to the church, cheshire," Syeena said as she and Hex flew away. "Hopefully my spells won't be too much for you."

And with that, they were gone, flying into the night as the moonlight gently revealed their shadow as they flew past it. Like an angel of darkness. The very capricious nature of Syeena probably left Varriden a bit confused, but in the end, that was Syeena's nature. Always leaving friend and foe guessing.

Syeena was willing to admit that his reasons were at least somewhat legitimate, if a bit close-minded. "Don't mistake my attitude for assumptions - I don't judge someone openly just for wearing the crest of a dark guild, but you were a little too okay with harming the villagers when they were in werewolf form, even knowing what it might do to them once they reverted back to normal."

When Syeena teased about seeing anything he liked, Varriden flatly replied. "The spells were alright. Didn't see much else, so I can't vouch for it." When she leaned in an put a finger under his chin, though, that was the point where lines were being crossed. A vein pulsed briefly on Varriden's temple as he raised one foot up, then slammed it onto the ground - an expression of anger, to be sure, but that wasn't the purpose of this, as the ground split from the point where Varriden's foot had hit the earth, opening a small canyon below Syeena and dropping her into it, before snapping it almost shut, trapping the witch in there up to her neck. "There. Now we're even - I got your spells, and you get to spend time with one of mine. You should be able to teleport out soon enough, so I'll be going in the meantime. Later." Varriden said, sidestepping around the fault line and off into the distance.

He didn't get far before he heard a noise - Hex had fished her out of the gap and into the air. Resourceful, if nothing else, he thought. Varriden merely glared at her parting words, resisting the urge to make a rather vulgar gesture with his hand as she flew off, trying to remain professional. And they wonder why light and dark mages don't get along, he thought with a sigh. Attitudes aren't exactly cut from the same cloth.
