Syeena continued on, traveling on her way to reach Trillium for a quest she had to complete. For now Syeena was walking through the forest that led to Tully Village, a nexus small travelers town where people went to reach other areas. it was right in the center of Fiore, so it was equal distant from each place. Syeena was traveling in her more common attire-- her more geeky outfit that made her blend into things better. She had the thick glasses, masking her green eyes and wore rather unflattering pants and vest. She was not trying to draw any unnecessary attention, at least here in the woods. It was already evening, the trip taking longer than she had wanted. Though the sun was still lighting the sky, the forest was thick and deep, making light to enter very little. It probably was not smart. A young woman, walking alone in the woods. Who knew who or what could be lying in wait for a single opportunity to take advantage of her. Luckily, she was not COMPLETELY alone and defenseless. But perhaps, it was the image she wanted to try and give. While she didn't look it, Syeena had a few secrets. As she walked on, she was a mile away from the village, till... "Hey there, little lady," a voice came out from behind a tree. Syeena looked around cautiously, and soon she caught sight of him. A man emerged from behind the tree, appearing to be a few years older than her. He was dressed in some clothing similar to a hunter or arborist. He was handsome to her, but it made him all the more suspicious. "YOu lost? I couldn't help but notice you," he said, giving her a smile. But Syeena took a step back a bit. "Oh, um Hi. No, no thank you. " she said in a shy tone, looking away. "I'm actually on my way to Tully Village. I know the way." "IT's still dangerous to go off on your own," he said , still coming towards her. "I'd be happy to escort you there," he said, his hands in his pockets as if trying to strike up casual conversation. The fact he was so handsome and charming just screamed trouble to Syeena. |

Just like in Lamia Scale, what appeared to be years ago to Miguel, he was sent in a mission with little detail to what he should expect. Apparently there was a cultist of sorts that the new king wanted dead. There was actually several cultists around Fiore like that, and a lot of them were powerful, while others were weak. This mission had one of those that were probably the powerful variety, and Miguel had to find and kill said person. He got his mission via mail on his apartment. It was addressed to him, and contained information about the mission including the possibility of having a mage from Grimoire Heart in the heart of the mission. Miguel didn't like it, but he had to deal with the circumstances and give Raven Tail the reputation they need for his protection to be guaranteed. How else will they secure their position in Trillium? Miguel put on his dark grey assassin's clothes, his usual thirty throwing knives strapped around his waist, thighs, ankles, and wrists. His sword, Masquerade, was on his side, and his assassin's hidden blade was in his left gauntlet. His final piece was a black masquerade mask, which changed his purple eyes and white hair color to pure black. His black cat, Neko, wore a bowtie to change his fur color white and his eyes red. With that Miguel left his home and ran in the direction of his next target, the cultist of Tully Village. After a week of travelling Miguel found something.. strange in a forest. Neko's sense of smell picked up a familiar scent. Miguel followed his exact instructions until they eventually found a woman with thick eye glasses staring at a man whom looked.. well, to most women's definition 'handsome'. He remained about ten meters away from the two talking, trying his best not to make noise, and forced himself to stay as still and quiet as possible. He wanted to make sure that the two were talking, and not something else before he left them alone (if he did). |

Syeena was still suspicious of this handsome stranger. Its like those cheesy things you read about in teen fiction of the handsome stranger come to protect them in the dark forest. Before you know it, they were getting naked and nasty in the cabin somewhere. Whowever wrote that type of fiction really needed to get out more. However, Syeena was not so suckered by the stranger as she backed away from his approach. "Thanks, but I am doing well on my own," she said more firmly this time. She stepped around him, attempting to leave and make it to the village... Till she felt the man grab a hold of her wrist. The very feel of the man's presence was not a good one. The charming atmosphere was gone and was replaced by something menacing. "Hey, didn't I tell you the woods is a dangerous place," he said, a slight growl to his voice. "Best stick with me." Syeena resisted the urge to sigh. So the charming prince was just a pervy stalker looking for prey. "You're right about one thing. The forest is dangerous," Syeena said, and knew what happened next. "MMMRRREEEOOWWW!!" a loud sound shrieked from above. Out from above in the trees, a black animal came falling down. It dropped down and landed right on the man's face. The man screamed and let go of Syeena, trying to get whatever landed on his face off. It felt sharp as its claws cut into his face. Syeena smirked as she saw it was none other than a certain black cat that had pounced on the man's face. Her trusty Exceed cat friend, Hex. The black cat had been up in the trees, leaping around and flying to keep an unnoticed eye on her friend. The moment the stranger appeared, Hex kept ready if he tried anything. Hex growled and clawed at the man's face, leaving red scratches across his forehead and cheeks. The man yelled and grabbing the cat, tried to pry her off him. After much effort, the man was able to get Hex off and threw her to the ground. The cat flipped in the air and landed on her feet, as most cats could. The man actually looked funny now with his angry glare, and his face covered in scratches. He now growled angry. All the while Syeena remained cool and calm as the cat softly walked towards her feet, still glaring at the attacker. By now, Miguel from afar could tell that the man was harassing the young woman and her cat. Any aura of romance was gone from the scene and if he so wished, he could interrupt and intervene. |

Varriden walked through the forest, flipping idly through the book he was holding. It was a tome he'd had for some time - an older book on runes and various translations through the ages - but it was a decent enough read that Varriden kept it on hand during longer trips. This time he was bound for other places, merely passing through Tully Village, but given how central it was, anyone leaving from any of the major Fioran cities had to pass through or at least near the village in their travels. As such, since he was still a fair distance from his destination, it happened that the first noteworthy event to occur wasn't at his intended stopping point, but on the way there - he heard noises up ahead and glanced up from his book. Before him on the path was a girl with glasses and a guy who looked to be standing suspiciously close to the girl, and judging by the reactions, making bad moves. Varriden was debating whether to intervene when the girl was grabbed by the arm, and Varriden would have leapt to it right then, except that a cat - or some creature resembling a cat at first glance, for it appeared slightly humanoid - leapt and clawed the guy's face, making him let go, though he did manage to pry the cat off eventually, his face now covered in scratch marks. "If it's dangerous to walk alone, might I ask why you're alone, then?" Varriden said, using one hand to sharply snap the book shut, the noise getting their attention. "She has company enough," Varriden added with a glance at the cat, "And adequate protection, yet you, the one alone, got injured. So...I suppose you're right, it is dangerous to walk through these woods alone." Varriden finished with a chuckle. "Gratitude for the information, stranger." This guy didn't seem like the type to be up for a fight - he'd lost his cool after losing a fight to a cat, and only approached a woman when she was alone on the road and a full mile from anyone else - but still Varriden was prepared to respond if needed. Not that it meant he preferred injured to scared, that is. |

Miguel didn't move from his position behind the tree, since when he was about to move his cat friend put his paw on Miguel's nose. This was obviously an attempt to stop him. Neko heard someone else right above the woman, and she smelled familiar. When the cat jumped down and attacked the man's face everything became very clear. That woman was Syeena, the woman that Miguel helped shortly before his mistake into the other dimension. She had teleporting magic, if Miguel remembered correctly, and a cat that Neko liked harassing. Miguel peaked at the situation and saw the man walking backwards after getting mauled in the face, this brought a small smirk to the assassin. That's when Neko touched Miguel's nose again, and a second person showed himself. He seemed cocky about his abilities, which means that he is either strong or has a very good poker face. The new face told the now scratched man that it was true that he shouldn't be walking around the forest alone, and pointed at the man's unfortunate outcome. This seemed oddly fitting for Miguel, that the bad guy had his face scratched to a probably scarring point so this wouldn't work again in the future. He decided to stay with the three people and continue to watch the situation. The last thing Miguel wanted to do was show himself and grab unneeded attention. The best solution was to wait and see how the group managed, and if they headed in the same direction as Miguel then all the better. He'll just make sure another problem like this doesn't happen until they arrive in the village. This was already turning into an odd mission, since there was an old acquaintance he met once and a stranger that he couldn't read as a bad guy. Miguel wondered what guild he was from, and whether or not he had good intentions for saving the woman, or even if this was all planned since the man was around at the perfect time to help the woman. For all Miguel knew the man hired the handsome fellow to fail for him to step in. Miguel will definitely have to watch the two closely, and without raising any alarms. |

THings were about to get dicey with the stranger. He was now really upset and pride wounded. Nothing was more awkward for a man than to see his pride wounded and it made them do stupid things, like trying to take advantage on a seemingly helpless girl. Luckily, Syeena was not one below the surface. As Hex landed on her feet and scurried to Syeena's side, that was when HE showed up. A young man with white/grey hair. It was an odd look for someone that young, but he had a sort of 'neo heroic look to Syeena.' The cat saw this too. It was a welcomed sight to see someone else wandering the woods. However, for the handsome scoundrel who had tried to ambush Syeena, he knew this was not a good sign. Knowing well he was outmatched-- he quickly took off. He ran behind the tree and sprinted away. At least they didn't have to worry about him for a while. Now that she was safe, she turned to the stranger before her. Time for wimpy nerdy girl act number 2, she thought. Syeena quickly ran over to the young man named Varrian. "Oh thank you-thank you! Thank you so much for saving me!" She squeaked, grasping his hands and shaking it enthusiastically. "That man would of done horrible, pervy things to me! I don't know how I could ever repay you!" The black cat moved forward, and out of sight of Varrian's gaze, Hex rolled her eyes. The Exceed cat kept herself somewhat in character. For now, she was going to be the 'odd looking cat'. "I'm Syeena, by the way. And this is my little friend Hex," Syeena said, leaning down and picking up Hex. She held the cat in a hug, showing her to Varrian. Aside from the gloves and the witch's hat, Hex appeared to be a strange looking cat. "Hi-- er I mean-- Meow!" she said quickly, as if trying to keep the fact she could talk a secret. Whether or not Varrian would believe that was up to him. However, once they would be introduced-- the town was ahead of them. Tully Village. They could see the gates of the town. They could see the people and buildings just through the trees. They would be wise to go there, or else more surprises could pop out of the forest around them. |

The man seemed like he had lost his nerve after untangling himself from the cat, and after Varriden showed up, decided to just cut his losses and run off into the forest, hopefully to return from whence he came and not harass any other travelers. Varriden kept his runes book tucked safely under one arm as the girl who'd been confronted by the stranger shook his hand enthusiastically. "Oh, I think you would have been fine, thanks to your furred friend, there." Varriden said with a nod in Hex's direction. "My appearance was just a polite way of letting him know that he had probably gotten away with as much as he could hope to, and thankfully he chose to retreat, though I certainly hope he didn't go to bother other travelers." Varriden paused, then chuckled. "Though with the marks on his face from your cat, I doubt he'll seem very intimidating right now." The girl introduced herself as Syeena, and the cat in the hat as Hex, who meowed, though the verbal slip-up didn't go unnoticed by Varriden, but he kept quiet - he figured if there was a reason the cat chose not to speak, then he had no reason to make the matter an issue. "A pleasure to meet you both," Varriden said with a slight nod of his head. "I happened to be wandering through and stumbled across what happened. Given that, perhaps we should stick together, at least until we reach the village?" Varriden said, pointing at the village, faintly visible in the distance. "That guy probably won't bother you again, but there's also a chance he's foolish enough to attempt something even more dense. You never know with those types." Varriden almost said that the man could have other friends in waiting, but given how he had happened to appear not long after the first man, she might get suspicious of him - he had nothing to do with it, of course, but accidentally creating suspicion where none should exist wouldn't help either of them. Varriden dropped his hand, shuffling the book to his other arm. "Though given what you just went through, if you've already had about all you can stand of the company of random strangers on the road, I wouldn't blame you if you chose to go it alone." One look at the girl and the cat and Miguel knew the situation was fishy. Then again, this was probably because he already knew how the two were actually like. This must be how the thief walks around in the daylight without causing much trouble, all the while causing her potential victims to lower their guard around her. A woman that is goofy is probably one of the easiest things to underestimate, right next to bunnies. Miguel has seen some deadly bunnies though, so he understands this all too well. Syeena thanked the man, and even shook his hands in a very energetic manner. One would almost believe the woman if they didn't already know her from a previous time and place. The other man that helped her seemed to be genuine, but he pointed out the obvious which would put that thought inside anybody. Rookie mistake. You never tell someone the worst case scenario in a situation unless they have to know it, or you benefit from them knowing this, even if it's the truth. Putting the thought of that man being evil in her head would make anyone suspicious, and that's why now Miguel definitely had to follow the group and ensure that 1. The new face wasn't an evil one, and 2. That the two don't get attacked by other people. Neko stayed on Miguel's head, taking off his collar to make sure that the white fur that accompanies it doesn't take away Miguel's position behind a tree. The other man ran away, and Miguel debated whether or not to go after him, but the odds were that the man wouldn't be a problem to them again.. but, he could be a problem to someone else. He'll have to gamble and say that the man won't be a problem to them, but only because there were two people in front of Miguel that he might have to follow for the two reasons mentioned earlier. He doesn't want to lose these two. And so Miguel started to shadow the two, keeping his distance to make sure the three don't get alarmed by his presence while still eyeing the three whenever he had a chance to shift positions. Miguel's stealth made him very hard to find, in fact without an ability for finding people it should be near impossible without sharp ears. His light steps, controlled breathing, and steady pace gave him an edge in following victims. His patience was also a weapon, one which he is using now. |

While it was foolish of Hex to keep her 'just a black cat' routine, the cat still was on guard from any new stranger that came by. Syeena however was more open with the stranger, clearly telling he was a generous and decent person. "Pardon my cat. Come on Hex, just say it already." "Meow... I'm just a cat. A pretty witchy looking black cat," She responded and stuck her tongue out at Varrian. It was a surprise for anyone to see and hear a talking cat. Unfortunately, half the things that Hex said were not always nice. Tilting her glasses, Syeena smiled at the man. "Oh, of course. We appreciate it. I mean there is only so much a girl and her cat can do, right? Haha..." she said, trying to keep her innocence shown to her reasons for being here. "Pfft!" The cat said, causing Syeena to give her a crossed look. They soon arrived in the sleepy town of Tully Village-- which looked to be a simple community of wooden houses and structures. They had a large gate that they used to close at night and keep guard with, obviously keeping out any unwanted night creatures. THe only stone structure was the church in the center of the town. The people looked casual, continuing on with their responsibilities and business. The town was peaceful and quiet for the most part, no more than a dozen people out in sight from the square where Varriden and Syeena approached. Still, a sense of unease was within the town. "Hello, there," a voice said behind them as they approached. "Can I help you?" The voice came from an older man who appeared to be in his thirties. He was dressed in priest robes and carried a tome in his arm. He greeted them with a kind smile. "What brings you youngsters to this sleepy town?" He asked. Syeena looked to him, being more open to talk now that they were inside the town. "We are travelers. We are making our way to Trillium and with the late hour, we were hoping to find lodging," she stated. |

Varriden glanced at Syeena, then at Hex as the girl told her to 'just say it already'. Eventually, the cat introduced itself as 'just a pretty witchy-looking black cat' and sticking it's tongue out. Bit of a cheeky streak in her, Varriden thought, though that could be partially from the afterglow of victory from clawing that stranger away from her owner. "A pleasure to meet you as well," Varriden said with a nod to Hex. "An Exceed, I presume? I've met another Exceed before, and, well, the odds of their being a type of talking cat that isn't an Exceed is a bit on the low side." Varriden added with a slight chuckle. Syeena did accept his offer of company for the road, though she shot Hex a look when the cat ruined her line about being mostly defenseless by themselves, hinting that Syeena had more than just her cat at her disposal. "A fair point," Varriden said, ignoring the slight disruption of Syeena's 'innocent girl' routine - if she wanted to pretend she was defenseless, Varriden had no reason to stop her just yet, as long as it was just a hobby or something of hers, and not something used to prey upon the unwary. After a bit of walking, they finally reached the village, though in truth they probably got their in less time than it seemed - walking always seems a bit longer when you can actually see your destination in front of you, Varriden had discovered on his travels. Tully Village was far more slow-paced than most places he had seen - despite it being a central location to travel through, the overall vibe of the place hinted at relaxation and doing things slow and steadily. Perhaps that was why the earlier man was preying on lone travelers through here, Varriden thought. He assumed they'd be easy marks if they were from a town as peaceful as this one. The air in the town grew slightly more tense as they moved towards the center of the village, but still seemed casual overall. Makes sense, Varriden thought. The word of the Demon Inquisition would rattle anybody, so they're coping by going about their lives as per usual. Not sure if it's denial or if it hasn't really sunk in for them yet, but either way, they're handing it well for the time-being. Soon enough, a man dressed in robes - most likely the local priest - came out and asked if they needed anything. "Yes, a room for each of us, just for the one evening, as we're just passing through. I'd be more than willing to camp out, but we ran into some dangerous individuals on the way here, so we're playing it safe for the moment." Granted, 'dangerous' and 'individuals' were both slightly inaccuracies, but was easier than saying 'one guy attacked us then got clawed in the face by a talking cat and ran off into the woods'. |
