Request Link: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Fairy_Tail_Guild/single/?p=745026&t=3764199 Cyrus was not in a good mood. Of course, it was rare for the knight to be in not a good mood in the first place, so perhaps this was just normal for him? Regardless, the blond was frowning heavily at the young Squire who had been sent to give him his next assignment. 'They certianly are slave drivers aren't they?' he thought to himself as he lay in bed looking at the simple report and request that had been handed to him. It hadn't been more than two weeks since the knight had gone quite literally through hell to retireve the Black Grimoire, stopping an invasion of Chrysantheum and breaking his right arm in the process. So, when the brass decided it was a good idea to send Cyrus back out on the job, you could say he was less than thrilled. Still, orders were orders. The blond nodded at the nervous squire who felt that with how upset Cyrus was looking that he might actually get out of his bed and punch him with his broken arm. The lad disappeared from sight almost automatically, eager to escape the knight's displeasure. Cyrus simply sighed, there was probably a reason he was being hit with a mission so early in his recuperation- it was true that the doc's had been using some heavy healing magic on him, but bone recovery was still a tricky buisness- it had to be done just right or it could grow back the wrong way. The knight glanced at his new sword, the blue and black demonic weapon of black ice which he had looted from the hordes of the Demonic Genral known as Sion. The knight could have tried to use his left hand to fight, but seeing as how he had no way to really carry or store the sword easily at the moment, he decided that it would be best to just leave the weapon here. The black eye embedded on the sword looked at Cyrus as he got out of bed and went to get ready for the day, it was always watching- that was the one thing which probably creeped Cyrus out the most about his new sword... With that, the knight got ready for a loooooooong day. The train ride to Oshibana wasn't all that long, the town was fairly populous and Cyrus had already been there a few times on less than ideal circumstances. The knight had helped the annoying teen known as Reggie McKenzie deal with some cultists there as well a snake woman known as Xiayu take down another snake-person-thing-whatever-you-get-the-point. So, by now Cyrus knew the town somewhat well. It's just that didn't mean he had to like it or anything about it. After about two hours or so, the train pulled into the station. Cyrus adjusted the sling which his arm was in and got out of his seat, he was wearing his usual clothes and black sunglasses, his mission request had been shoved hastily into his pocket before he had left. The sounds and sights of the train station itself were less than remarkable, the knight quickly manuvered through the crowd before arriving out on the courtyard in front of it. He would then lazily gaze over the open area with its shops and vendors before fishing out the piece of paper in his pocket. If he read correctly then he was supposed to meet someone here. Upon re-examining the piece of paper in his left hand, Cyrus felt his spirits drop. No. It couldn't be. -They surely couldn't be serious. "Rhevas Rojo Vel Witcher" the knight said, feeling somewhat conflcited that the dark mage was to accompany him again. The man had been a friend to Cyrus so far, but his ferocity and appetite for blood and demonic goodness was a bit off putting. Still, king Stefan seemed adamant about this whole 'They're not dark, they're neutral now' thing that he had been raving on about. Cyrus pursed his lips somewhat upon realling the election of king Stefan, it all seemed ridiculous him- Herad should have been the man sitting on the Fiorian throne in his opinion, not a spineless rat who would compromise all intangibles for tangible power. But alas, that was a conflict for another time. Edited by Ravendark, Apr 5 2015, 10:45 PM.

Rhevas was beginning to get accustomed to the on-goings of the every day life being a Grimoire Heart. He knew when and when not to take offense from others who pestered about his affiliation to a particular guild. You could say that he mellowed out somehow, resulting to violence second and a bit on diplomacy first. But that doesn’t change the fact that he was more keen to jump from diplomacy and hurl his sword before anything else. Though he does try to be mellow. He does. So when the news of helping out a certain knight handle a certain bunch of rough and rowdy vandals in Oshibana Town, he was a bit conflicted. A part of him didn’t like the idea he would be put into another knight’s business. This deal with Stefan’s new policy about dark mages was a good cut for them, but it can be a bit overworking for them to try and prove themselves. Not to mention that their guild master was quite keen to make sure every member of the guild displayed the appropriate behavior and the proper attitude in taking care of the demon inquisition mess. Still, he had began to question about their real status when menial tasks like these would often find themselves into their guild’s request box. However, it was to be. Rhevas quickly had left to Oshibana Town after much talk with the clerk by their guild hall’s counter and he got enough information to get him to do the task. At least it wasn’t an unfamiliar knight he was to be partnered with. In fact, he swear that this fellow would practically be the only knight he’d ever appreciate. And from their last mission together, he knew it would be fun all the way. So what better way to get this so-called proving yourselves worthy to be given a sort of pardoning from the king than to assist a knight he had began to call a friend. And when he arrived in Oshibana Town, he made to sure to look for his so-called friend, while trying to avoid getting into a fight. He was supposed to be mellow now, after all. Right. Mellow. Probably after a few grunts and bodies lying limp in an alleyway when he encountered some ruffians trying to swindle him for being a new face in the place. But now that that was settled, he was off to being mellow. |

Cyrus tapped his fingers along his bandaged arm in thought as the sun began to set, the knight had been told that the vagabonds who have been causing mischief were more active at night- thus it made sense for the man to simply start his search during that timeframe. Even though the blond might have been wounded via his broken arm, he still was more than a match for a couple of hoodlums who had gotten carried away with some spray paint. Rehvas was probably the right man for the job, just the perfect amount of bloodthirsty insantiy and violence- yet that irresistable pinch of reason and levelheadedness which the knight appreciated. Still, if push came to shove, he would just let the dark mage break their legs. A cold wind rustled through the air, the air around Cyrus seemed to lower a few degrees- despite not having Bedevire on his person. The man's time in the demon world had changed him, for better or for worse was yet to be seen. Regardless, Cyrus was a more violent and utilitarian fellow than he had been before. The knight had seen his friends, pseudo-family, and comrades get butchered for nothing more than food and amusement- coming out of it all and finding the world focused on things as simple and petty as vandalism made him somewhat sick inside. He hadn't exactly grown or shrunk after his black crusade- he had simply gone sideways, now what that meant? Well, to be honest not even Cyrus had the answer to that one. The blond thus would wait for Rhevas to show up before they got this little mission of theirs underway. The knight was currently leaning against an Ice-Cream truck, his black sunglasses perched on their usual spot- it would have been a miracle for the dark mage to not see him, especially seeing as how there was nobody stupid enough to go around wearing sugnlasses in a busy and cloudy city during sunset. Still, the knight would give a quick call over to Rhevas upon seeing him exiting the train station, "Hey." he called across the courtyard over to the dark mage, the man had arrived just on time- good, the knight hated to be kept waiting.... Once the man had walked over to the blond, Cyrus would shake his hand with his only good one. "Long time no see" the knight said, somewhat sarastically, the two had an odd habit of bumping into each other in less than predictable circumstances- something orderly like this was somewhat comical in comparasin. The blond would give a slight nod to the ice cream truck he was leaning against, "I'd reccomend bubble gum flavor myself" he said, getting up from his spot and walking around to the front of the truck where he simply ordered an ice cream cone, not really caring that they were there on a mission of all things. It was highly un-Cyrus behavior, to be certain. But then again, these were highly un-Cyrus times. "I take it you got told all the-" Cyrus stopped to bite into a mouthful of bubblegum ice-cream, "-details?" he asked Rhevas, refering to their mission request. The knight had been doing a bit of sleuthing himself before the dark mage showed up, "I've been keeping my ear close to the ground, as they say" he said, not quite used to using idioms. "-Apparently theres a fair amount of young'ins around here who've been awfully naughty" the blond said, taking yet another bite of ice cream as he talked with Rhevas. "Anyways, basic stuff: arrest few of the hooligans or catch them in the act if we're lucky" the knight said with a shrug, their objective was simple enough. Finishing his ice-cream with a loud 'slurp' the knight wiped his sticky hands all over his jeans to dry them off. From there he would give a small burp before looking over towards the southern portion of the street, "Apparenlty the most activity has been going on in the slums, the southern district that is" indeed, Oshibana was not as prosperous as one might have made it out to be. There were still swathes of neighbrohoods still living in poverty, "Its our best bet at the moment" he said, looking back to the dark mage. |

Rhevas had not intended to be on time, he merely wanted to get things done. He was still a bit irked about the whole trivial mission he was supposed to share with the knight, and though he may have gotten along with Cyrus, he could tell that the blonde may not exactly like this mission either. Or if he did, then maybe Rhevas can tease him for a bit. Because, you know, looking like a bartender and being all strict like a professor was at odds with each other, and a blonde at that made things weird. In any case, it was not that hard to miss Cyrus as soon as Rhevas arrived at the town and he quickly approached the other, greeted and shook hands. But the comment about the ice cream had him confusion. How could one eat bubbles? So he shook his head instead and watch the other get a good serving of the cold sweets and they would be off. “Youz a kid?” he would tease, though smelling the nice scent of the said cold sweets was actually making him a bit jealous about it. However, the more the other talked, the more Rhevas felt dazed. Something about Fiorean Speech just didn’t sit well with him. Perhaps it was the slang, or maybe it was the fact that he couldn’t take Cyrus seriously at that very moment because of the ice cream. Nevertheless, he would nod when needed, though he still raised a brow at the other’s rather childish behavior. He may have meant to slap him to reality thinking Cyrus could be sleep-talking, but he opted not to. When he finally finished his snack, they were at the mouth of the southern district’s street. It made sense that most of the offenders were from the place known greatly for the poverty that society had created, but also it would mean that they were far too easy to catch if they were already out in plain sight. Even if this was just an easy job, it still felt a little too rudimentary. “Cyrus,” he had gotten accustomed to calling the knight in his name lately, “Maybe wez pretend. No sign says wez to capture them. Dat way they get caught. Dat way wez know where others.” He suggested. |

Cyrus nodded at Rhevas's suggestion, the group they were trying to infiltrate and hunt down would probably blend in easily among the slums of Oshibana town, if they wanted to try and find these rapscallions then their best bet was to keep things relaxed and casual. Who knew, maybe if they were lucky the vandals would mistake them for others who wanted to partake in unscrupulous activities. The knight thus gave a simple nod, "Yeah..." although he was still somewhat in thought, from the reports and info he had been given, the knight had a hunch that there was more than just a couple of kids spray painting signs, they were directly slandering the government- which in itself was fine, but when they started breaking out into riots was when the trouble started. "They call themselves the Turks" the knight said, glancing around the area as the scenery began to change around them. The clean and pristene streets of Oshibana had begun to give way to the more fowl and dirty avenues and boulevards which comprised the southern slums of the city. The poverty here wasn't that bad, compared to such places as Highnoon or Dandelion at least, but it was still a sobering sight for someone who had gotten lucky and wasn't in a poor man's shoes. People milled about the streets as usual, socially there didn't seem to be much different here, this was still a city and it was almost dinner for most people right about now. After a bit more of walking, the two would find themselves in a dirtier courtyard filled to the brim with booze, breasts, and bad manners- the red light district happened to be congruent with the slums, who would have thought? The blond looked around the area, it was time to do the boring and tedious work of information collecting. "Alright" the knight said to his pseudo-partner, "Way I see it, we've got three places to try and pick up some info" he said, looking around casually as he spoke. "Option one: we can try and go to the local bar or pub, bartenders tend to know anything about everything- the good ones at least" the knight said, he had learned from experience that the man who serves his fellow man a beer tends to know more than he lets on. "Number two: we try and go into the local brothel or club, loose lips sink ships after all" Cyrus said with a cold look on his face, he hoped that he didn't need to require too much explaining of the dual meanings in his phrase. Quickly, the blond looked down a side alley which led towards a darker part of the city, less dimly lit and quickly losing its light thanks to the setting sun. "Or, option three: we head to the local underground club" he said, eyeing the path with disdain, he knew that the place would be their best bet- but doing so would mean walking into a hornets nest. They would probably find the best information there, but also find nothing but trouble from far worse than a few hooligans or vandals. |

They proceeded to where they would have to find the so-called vandals. It wasn’t much of a surprise to find a wide array of vices waiting to lure others to join. The unwanted parts of the city had certainly turned into a den of oddballs and outcasts and despite the lewd visuals others preferred to display amidst the bottles and unsanctioned distribution of some otherwise dangerous things, it was just like the rough down trodden sides of his former hometown, though with absence of the proper authority to kill the disobedient children. Then, as Cyrus began to cite their options, Rhevas could barely catch up with their intended meanings. Looking like a bartender, he immediately nominated the blonde for the route number one. “Sides, last time ayer did, ayer killed bartender. Youz better do dat,” said Rhevas as he tried to drive a point about a particular incident that they shared at Mazahar Basin where a not-so lucky bartender had the unfortunate incident of meeting him during the bar brawl. But the other two options were very much weighing in on him. One, because he’d recently learned about the whole deal with brothels and how he could get the information he wanted through them and maybe relieve a bit of pent-up stress ever since he had his underscored encountered with a particular slave girl who explained the details of brothels to him in an intimate way; and two, because the idea of the local underground club always rings true with having to get away with what he needs with the use of strength. “Ayer like third option but can’t,” He shrugged and he crossed his arms in front of him before looking back to Cyrus to see that he might as well explain the certain conditions that were given to him. “Guild got angry last time. Sez best not get into trouble anymore. Especially fights. Ayer need to be...” he raised both hands to make quotation signs with his fingers as he added, “Neutral and good. Or so sez. So ayer do option two.” And it was faster to get relevant information for the mission if they could get target two routes at once. Worst case, they’ll do the third as the final option. |

So then, it seemed as though they were going to apply the old strategy of 'divide and coqnuer' then. Cyrus gave a thoughtful nod at Rhevas's opinions, it would indeed have been wise for the knight to approach the pub, the last time the other man had tried to do a similar task he had killed the bartender- something which the knight still couldn't let himself forget, even though Stefan was encouraging 'dark' to become the new 'neutral', Cyrus saw things as clear as night and day. The blond could have stood there all day thinking about how he hated Rhevas's violent bloolust and whatnot, but doing so would only serve to waste precious time, plus the dark mage could have easily killed Cyrus if he had so chosen. The blond frowned at Rehvas's decision to go into the brothel to find info- quite frankly, the knight had been hoping the man would'v taken option number three. If they were really going after petty criminals, the night club would have been the best place to try and get information. Still, hopefully the dark haired man would get something out of the brothel if anything. The knight gave a nod towards the man, "I'll meet you back here in 30 minutes" he said plainly, this shouldn't take two long for the two of them- although if they screwed things up here then things could go from fairly easy to fairly hard just like that. The blond would then turn to start walking towards the closest pub, exepcting the other man to go to the nearby brothel to start his 'research' although there was a portion of Cyrus that worried the dark mage would get a little to caught up in looking for 'evidence' and whatnot. Once inside the bar, the knight looked around at the 3 figures which currently sat around enjoying their glasses of beer. The place certainly seemed empty that much was certain. The knight walked up to the barcounter and ordered a drink himself, gulping the thing down and lazily looking around the room. There was an old man drinking a beer and reading a newspaper, the bartender who seemed to be in his late 30's, and a woman who was somewhere around Cyrus's age and drinking tea politely in a corner. "Slow day?" Cyrus asked the bartender, getting a mild chuckle and a, "-Something like that" he said, glancing outisde the windows as if he were looking for someone to show up or expecting something. "Just those damn kids, ruining my buisness with how much they've been acting up lately" the man said, inadvertedly playing right into the blond's hands. "So you know them yes?" he asked, getting a nod from the bartender, "Aye, they're a bunch of no good schmucks" the man said as he cleaned a beer glass. The knight sat down on the barstool, it seemed they were finally starting to get somewhere with all of this. The brothel nearby was a fairly popular one, titled 'The Captain's Daughter', the place was just what you'd expect from such an establishment. Women roamed the lobby and ground floors of the bar and club like vultures, the place wasn't quite seedy but was still borderline. There was a fair amount of men here and on a late weekend night, the place was bound to be packed. It was a good place to pick up information, the dark mage could do as he pleased here for the next thirty minutes. Rhevas could go up and try to pry information out of any of hte hostesses, trick some of the rather intoxicated young men who might have been in the demographic for the description of 'young vandal/hooligan', or gone straight up to the head matron herself and knocked on her office door. So then, what would Rhevas do? |

Rhevas was left to investigate the brothel. Once inside, he could see all the vices in broad day light. Not a single person was embarrassed about the lewdness, though perhaps it was because it was that sort of place to begin with. He didn’t care much for that either. He just wanted to get things done before he brings in more trouble than needed. Not to mention he was already getting odd stares from some of the patrons. Perhaps thinking of pilfering his coat or something. He proceeded past the counter where the lady pimps were waiting, a little disgruntled that he had ignored them. But he let their eyes linger on his retreating form a little longer, just to add salt to the wound. He didn’t care for their kind, not after what he’d been through before. Sure, he may have managed to get information from a lovely night of intimacy, but the girl had betrayed him in the next instance. In any case, he directly went inside the boss’s office at the farthest end of the corridor, not bothering when bouncers tried to stop him. Well, actually, he floored them the instance they raised a hand at him. It was funny when they tried to stop him, but he had to move on. He knocked by the door and waited for a response. “What is it?” said a tired voice, slurring as if there was food in the mouth. But Rhevas did not answer. Instead, he continued to knock. After an irritating shout, there was the thumping on the floor until the bolt on the door was unlocked and opened to reveal a middle-aged woman in a skimpy outfit smoking a stick. A long pause of irritation fell between them before the woman smiled. “My, my, my, I never thought I’d see you around this area.” “Ayer need info. No stabbing woman though.” Rhevas would reply and the boss-woman laughed as she led him inside her room. |

Cyrus sat with the bartender, drinking on a simple concoction of rum, it was a local dish which had an effective mint aftertaste to it- the knight suprisingly was quite fond of it. The blond still kept things simple, the last thing he wanted to do in the slums of a city was to announce his affiliation to the knights. The blond took another sip of his mint rum, "Whaddya know about them?" he asked, slurring his speech somewhat on purpose- a key trait one could usually tell about a traditional knight was the way in which they spoke: prim and proper. The bartender shrugged, "They're just a bunch of hoodlums, running around and painting anti-Inquisition graffiti and the like around town" he said, it was pretty basic information one could gather from almost any bystander really. Cyrus leaned back on his barstool, it was clear the man didn't know more than him... Perhaps there was other information which the blond could use? "I see, anything else weird been happenin' lately?" he said, taking another sip of his rum as he spoke. The bartender raised an eyebrow, Cyrus was asking a little too many questions it seemed, it would only be natural for one to be nervous of a stranger walking in an interrogating the owner to a buisness- still, the man didn't seem phased. "Not much really, just a fe-... well actually..." he said, starting off as if there hadn't been anything which came to his mind but stopping himself. The man bit his lip momentarily as he glanced out the window, it seemed that he had remembered something that was better left forgotten. "There've been a few weird disappearances around town" "- to be honest, I'd say any disappearance would be weird in itself" Cyrus quipped, causing the bartender to wave his hand in dismissal. "No- not like that you see, this stuff is weird I tell ya. No matter who it is the pattern is the same! A loud scream followed by the sound of wind chimes, after that, the person is supposed to disappear- nobody's ever seen who's doing it though, the people seem to just vanish without a trace!" the bartender said, speaking in a slightly hushed voice and causing Cyrus to raise his eyebrow this time around. "That is completely illogical" The head matron for the brothel looked up at the tall, strong, and most importantly virile dark mage in front of her. "Well well well, what brings one of the boys from the big leagues down to this neck of the woods?" she asked, recognizing the noteworthy mage of Grimoire heart simply by his face alone. The man was a B-class mage after all, he certainly had acquired a reputation it seemed. The woman took a long puff of smoke, "Let me guess, you're here about those Turk boys aren't ya?" she said, as if she had had this genre of conversation a hudnred times now. "I'll tell ya what I told the cops- I don't know shit" she said, leaning back in her seat and gently blowing out a small ring of smoke. Glancing past the dark mage, the woman could see the outlines of her unconscous bouncers lying prone on the ground in front of her office. "Aww damn, you know how much those boys cost me? I swear to god, is it too much to fucking knock?" she said, coughing slightly and leering at the dark mage. She stared at him for a few seconds as she smoked, her eyes quinted in disdain for the man. "Alright, there's more- a few of my girls had some customers who had been rambling on about being a part of the Turks" she said, putting out her cigarrete and leaning over her desk, giving the dark mage a solid view of her rather wrinkled cleavage. "Heres the kicker though: they were talking about how they were going to start a revolution. 'Stop the Inquisition!' and the like..." she said, clearly annoyed by all of this. After she spoke though, she'd simply throw up her hands, "That's all I got kid- unless you want a free session to sheath your sword then I suggest you leave" the woman said. Although what happened next was quite peculiar. A loud scream and bell chime could be heard throughout the brothel. -and just like that, the woman disappeared. Gone without a trace as if she had never been there at all.... How peculiar... |

Rhevas smirked when the boss woman commented about how it was difficult to get bouncers like those. But if he would have it his way, he’d make certain such bouncers were of credible strength and quality, and not so easily hurled over like babies. Then again, he certain no made would actually be settling with such a mediocre job. The idea of having something special will always play around with the individual’s ego, and unless they are content about it, they would not be so easily swayed to stay in one place. That said, he kept mum on possibly suggesting to the boss woman where she could get at least more difficult men to pass through if she was so adamant to keep her office heavily guarded. After all, maybe if he did suggest about that place, she might be up for bankruptcy when those hooligans often asked for the limit price for their services. As the boss woman would tell him the information he required, he was a bit skeptical. If this woman was so easily to give away information like that then she would have to be quite known around these parts, and probably not too loved. For that, Rhevas was a bit worried that his prying might have dire consequences. No wonder she needed bouncers as such. And before the meeting could end, there was a sudden scream from around the brothel. Immediately, Rhevas ran from the office and into the great lobby of nudity, or so it named so boorishly, and it would seem as though everyone was quite alarmed by it. He looked around in a hurry before he heard a chime of a bell. That was definitely odd and he would have quickly went to look for the bell if not for the sudden realization that the chime was coming from the office. So he hurried back, only to find the doorway empty. He entered the boss woman’s office/secret pleasure room, and saw nothing her personal accessories and pleasure toys and bed. The woman was gone and there was no other way she would have left. So before he could be blamed for this, he hurried out the brothel in search for Cyrus. He’ll want to learn about this sudden disappearance act of the boss woman. Maybe... he stopped in mid-pace, maybe she was monitored and taken as soon as she spoke to him about it. So he stopped his walk and faced the brothel’s frontage, waiting to see if someone would hurry to escape. After all, if her tip was true and some of the customers were part of the Turks, then that would coincide with the theory that one was close by to monitor the boss woman. |
