The previously unforgiving sun-drenched golden landscape had slowly faded into a more verdant and lush terrain during only a mere week's worth of travel. Jetta Betonica had never seen such brilliant scenery before in real life after having lived all of her lifespan thus-far in the massive Sanzibar Desert. But now she was finally getting to see what she'd only ever read before in books. Pastures of green grass of varying shades, mountains created from massive hunks of neutral colored stone, flowers in a myriad of colors, crystalline lakes and rivers and so many other natural wonders that simply blew her mind away. The young mage had surely gawked during the entirety of her travels after having set off on her journey to the city of Magnolia from the miniscule desert community of Ilcopai; her former hometown. In fact, in her palpable excitement, if anyone had even showed the tiniest hint of enthusiastic interest towards her, such as by smiling and saying hello to her, Jetta, who usually kept her distance from those she wasn't familiar with, would have talked their ears off. She was that excited. For the first four and a half days, Jetta had traveled in a camel drawn carriage all the way to Belladonna. The thriving metropolis of massive columned high-rise buildings were a magnificent sight to behold. She had noticed many scholars studying and researching and even a few Lamia Scale guild members when she had walked through the extensive quartz infused train station. The busy and chaotic station had its own railways connecting to her beloved Magnolia and so the rest of her journey would be continued on a shiny lacrima-powered train. The young mage's heart pounded against her sternum in anxious excitement as she had paid the toll and boarded her train. 'I can't believe it! In a day or two, I'll be in Magnolia! And-and then I can explore my new town...and then join Fairy Tail!' Jetta had thought to herself in nervous glee. Nothing had broken her of the sheer delight of knowing that she would reach the grand city of Magnolia in hardly more than a day's time. Once on board, Jetta could hardly sleep or eat as she watched all kinds of environments pass by her while the train sped past intriguing area after intriguing area. The young woman didn't want to take her eyes off of anything. Everything seemed enhanced to her. Colors, smells, sights and sounds. Everything seemed brighter and brand new. Like she was a child watching the world around her for the very first time. In all actuality, she had kind of reverted into a state of naive being. She'd never seen so many fantastically different sights in all of her life. There were no words to express her emotions. None that could compare to how she felt anyhow. When the fair-skinned, curvacious mage had finally given into unconscious slumber late in the night, she'd dreamt of Magnolia in all of its architectural glory. Jetta envisioned all of the famous city's influence, wealth, power and prestige. The flowing, shining city was the home of the Fairy Tail guild after all and so her brain romanticized all of the city's features that she'd read that it had. From the city's splendid western styled buildings, to its largely efficient waterways which lined all of its main streets. Her mind also dreamt up images of being a powerful wizard of Fairy Tail and having the guild's mark on her right hand in a charcoal grey color. The very same color as the irises in her hooded and almond shaped eyes. She'd even dreamt of using high powered Shadow-Make moves in her unique Dynamic style. A wolf, a tiger, and an eagle made of her own shadowy energy attacked the daring enemies of Fairy Tail with dark teeth, claws and fangs. “I won't let anyone harm Fairy Tail! Not one member in it!” She'd decreed to the evil doers that her mind had conceived. And even more incredibly, she'd felt a warm power glow inside of her like the first light of day touching her skin. It was the power to heal that she had somehow discovered and learned. And when she saw a wounded Fairy Tail member, she'd felt the power grow stronger within her. Willing her to use it. Unfortunately though, it wasn't to be... For just as she was about to tend to her bleeding comrade, everything seemed to blur out and fade. Much to her displeasure. CHOOOOOOOOOOOO!CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! The train Jetta was in had headed to a sudden screeching stop, thus jarring the young woman from her pleasant dreams. “Wha-What?...” The unsuspecting lady took a glance around and noticed people shifting all around her and getting out of their seats. That's when the realization hit her like a ton of bricks. “Magnolia!” the ebony haired young woman stated loudly and in shock. She immediately felt wide awake and even her modest bosom shivered along with the rest of her body in pure jovial zeal. And just like everyone else, she stood and prepared to get off of the train. Practically stepping on the feet of any person in front of her, the young mage grabbed her hot pink, hard-shelled luggage and scurried out of the train. She had no idea about what she would find when she first gazed upon Magnolia, but she did know that she had everything to look forward to now that she had finally arrived. “Today, my new life begins!” Edited by Hadou, Feb 14 2018, 12:44 AM.

Train stations, Emily felt, were excellent places to find unsuspecting dupes and easy marks for exploitation. After a rather interesting stint in Tide’s End that she’d remember for a long time, she was back in civilization as it was and hoping to find some new target for her manipulations. The more wide eyed and excited they seemed, the happier she was and she’d spotted the perfect target stepping off of the train right in front of her. She was young and her wide-open grey eyes seemed to take all of the world in with a sense of wonder. The redheaded psychopath grinned inwardly and sidled up to stand next to her as she stood gazing around in amazement and spoke in a reassuring tone. “It’s quite the sight the first time you see it huh? I felt exactly the same way you do when I got here. Welcome to Magnolia!” Emily quickly thought of a plausible explanation for her presence and effortlessly spun it out. She had no qualms about blatant lying and did it with such ease that she could tell almost anyone almost anything and get them to believe it. She played a hunch as to what this girl was doing in town and spoke again with the same calming gentleness in her voice that she’d used before. “My name is Emily Winter. I’m an official guide employed by the Fairy Tail guild to provide help to new arrivals in town. You wouldn’t by any chance be interested in joining our guild? If so, I can show you around and get you acquainted to the town. What’s your name? Where do you hail from?” Her expression was guileless and welcoming. It was the favourite trap that the crimson-locked murderess and mistress of manipulation loved to use and she was fairly certain that her newfound mark would be drawn in by it. She couldn’t wait for the fun to begin. Edited by MoonlitRain012, Feb 26 2015, 03:52 PM.

Although she couldn't see the actual city from within the buzzing economical hub that was the rather infamous Magnolia Train Station when she exited her train, the young woman couldn't help, but grin widely at all of her surroundings. There was so much to take in and she inhaled every detail that she could like a gluttonous addict. Even when people moved by her, they rather enchanted her. Which was strange considering her naturally introverted nature. Still, the young mage took into account what everyone wore and the air of their presence when they passed by her. She noticed that most people seemed pleasantly happy and that made her all the more delighted. Of course, she also recognized that some people were also saying goodbye to Magnolia and their loved ones. It was like the circle of life. When someone left, another would take its place. And today, she was that person. 'I've never been so excited!' Jetta thought to herself with the glee of a child. Every sight, sound, smell and other such experience was permanently being etched into her mind due to the emotional amygdala in her brain telling her memory-making hippocampus that the events surrounding her were of the utmost importance. Perhaps the next moment to come even more-so. For without even a wisp of a sign to show that Jetta had wanted company, a petite red-headed girl who looked to be near her age, walked up to her and spoke to her in a friendly manner. Seeing this as an opportunity to make a new friend, Jetta nodded quickly. “Indeed it is! Th-Thank you!” The ebony haired woman said happily to the slightly taller stranger. The young lady smiled, but thought of nothing else to say with her mind going every which way in excitement. Luckily, she didn't have to remain in awkward silence, for the flame haired woman introduced herself and surprised her. “Emily Winter? Nice to meet you! I-.... You're involved with Fairy Tail?” Her charcoal grey eyes grew wider and her facial features became more jovial if such a thing was even possible. “I'm definitely interested in joining Fairy Tail! That's why...That's why I'm here.” Jetta shyly paused as Emily asked her, her name and where she came from. “I'm... My name's Jetta. Jetta Betonica. And I'm from Ilcopai. Which is in the Sanzibar desert.” The young mage had no trouble giving the warm and welcoming stranger her name and where she was from. Actually, she was more than happy to share her information with a possible friend. Especially since the crimson haired young woman was affiliated with Fairy Tail. Smiling from ear to ear, Jetta was sure she still seemed awkward like usual around others, but she remained hopeful as well. Help always helped after all and this stranger was offering that to her. “I would really appreciate it if you'd like to show me around Magnolia!... That is... If you want to! Are you... Do you know magic, too?” It was a common question amongst peoples with magical abilities such as herself, albeit her version seemed more bashful than most. Unfortunately, due to her curiosity, Jetta couldn't help, but ask more questions. She couldn't even stop herself. “W-What is Fairy Tail like? Oh! And how are you affiliated with them? Are you a member?” She grasped the handle of her bright pink suitcase a little tighter to hear what the friendly and nearly equally pale skinned woman would say to her in reply. This one is going to be so much fun Emily thought as she continued to smile warmly and exude every sort of welcoming feeling that she could think of faking as she directed her attention towards her control of Jetta. She wasn’t struggling with how precisely to manipulate the innocent girl, but rather with all of the potential that existed to wind this poor dupe around her little finger. She decided to keep the lies at least somewhat plausible as she didn’t particularly want a bunch of powerful Fairy Tail mages breathing down her neck. It wouldn’t help her at all to end up behind bars, so she shook her head in response to Jetta’s question and replied. “I’m not actually a member of Fairy Tail. They’ve just hired me as someone to help new mages in town find their way around. I guess you could call me a tour guide of sorts. I can tell you that it is a deeply impressive guild though.” The last part of the statement was true. Even as a dark mage, Emily was in awe of the amount of power possessed by Fairy Tail. She just wished that she could subvert it to her own ends. She paused and filled her voice with what she hoped was warm interest as she continued, “The desert huh? That’s quite a long ways off. I’m sure you’re quite impressed with this big city! I sure was when I first arrived here.” She waited another beat again and then continued talking. “I’m sort of here for the precise purpose of showing you around Magnolia so I don’t mind at all. I do know magic. I’m an Earth mage! What about you, Jetta?” As she waited for an answer, she swept her arm around in an arc and said, “Why don’t we walk and talk? I can start the tour right now!” |

Mal never really traveled by train before. Usually it was by foot, but this was much quicker, and of course it offered a place to sleep and rest. Which is exactly what he had done for the whole trip until the sound of the train stopping at the train station in Magnolia jolted him from his nap. Noticing most of the other passengers disembarking he decided it was a good idea to do so as well. Gathering what little belongings he had Mal made his way to the exit, being careful not to step on anyones toes or bump into them. This proved to be extremely difficult and yet he had somehow pulled it off, not once touching another person as they dispersed from train and out into Magnolia. Stretching his back as he stepped out into the train station Mal took in the sights. It seemed like a very nice place to travel to. He was glad that he had chosen to ride that train after all. Glancing around Mal noticed a couple of people down the way from him discussing things. Both were shorter than him and oddly pale. He gathered they didn’t spend much time in the sun. He also couldn’t help but notice the fiery red hair that one of them was sporting. There was something else. Something that bothered Mal just a bit. A vibe that he was picking up from one of them. It filled him with dread. It made him expect the worse. Of course this could just be after travel jitters. Still Mal had always been somewhat good at reading people though he would usually give someone the benefit of the doubt anyways until proven that it was not a good idea to do so. Shrugging his shoulders Mal started making his way towards the exit of the train station. Not a clue as to where he would go though. Something made him stop. A simple statement that made him realize he didn’t have to get lost in this town after all. The red haired girl had stated that she was some sort of tour guide working for Fairy Tail. Mal didn’t really care about the whole Fairy Tail thing but the tour guide occupation was too great an opportunity to pass up. He really did not want to get lost again. It always led to bad times. Turning on his heels Mal approached the girls. “Hi, I’m so very sorry to disturb you, but I heard you were a tour guide of some sort. Is that true? Because if so I could really use one. Don’t really wish to get lost in this town at the moment.” |

Jetta listened to the fiery red headed stranger and her possibly potential friend when she spoke and told her that she wasn't a member of Fairy Tail herself, but rather, she was hired by the esteemed wizard guild as a sort of tour guide instead. The ebony haired mage didn't really understand why Fairy Tail would hire non-members to do their tasks, but at the same time, she understood that they were a busy guild and such mundane tasks could be left for others to benefit from instead. “Ah. I see.” She stated with clear disappointment in her feminine voice. She would have loved to have met a real Fairy Tail member in person, but she supposed the time would come soon enough where she would come face to face with all of Fairy Tail; minus those that were away on missions anyways. Her potential friend did mention that Fairy Tail was an awe-inspiring guild, or at least, that's how she interpreted it. “Yeah. I bet they are! Fairy Tail seems like the most impressive guild...to me.” It was clear that the young lady was fairly biased when it came to the light wizard guild that she favored most of all. After she'd told Emily that she was from Ilcopai city in the Sanzibar Desert and the other woman had said that it was far and Magnolia must be impressive to her, she nodded and grinned. “Yeah it was a really long travel. But definitely worth it! I saw so much on my here. And from what I've seen of Magnolia so far, I'm certain that I will love it here. It is impressive. Very impressive.” Jetta didn't want to bore the younger woman with too many details of both Ilcopai and what she'd seen of Magnolia. She could have gone on and on though. About the climate and differences between Magnolia's culture and climate and about what she'd read of Magnolia's history. She could have. She wanted too. But she held herself back. 'Motormouthing can turn people away...and besides. I don't know her and she's the guide. She should be the one to talk more. Not me. It would be rude if I didn't give her a chance to speak as well.' Besides being assured by Emily that the flame haired woman did indeed want to guide her around Magnolia, the ebony haired young woman couldn't have helped herself when she asked the fiery haired lady if she knew any magic. She'd hoped that the red-head had been gifted with magical power so that they could have more in common, but had learned never to assume such things. Luckily, she'd been right and she took in the information joyfully. “Ooooooo! Earth magic is so strong! I've seen it been used a few times in a few different ways by a couple of desert mages. Although they mostly specialized in sand magic.” Jetta seemed very interested in listening about her potential friend's magic. Unfortunately, she was quickly asked what her own magic was. “Oh me? Heh...” She coyly smiled. “I use Shadow-Make magic. Dynamic Shadow-Make magic.” The young woman clarified. When Emily asked if they could walk and talk and start the tour immediately, she nodded happily. “Eh. Sure! Why not? Thank you!” However, Jetta was quick to catch on to a tall and well tanned man with messy black hair that was walking towards them. She tensed up a little in spite of herself and her charcoal colored eyes locked onto him as he asked Emily if she was a tour guide and if he could join the tour. Although she still smiled, the ebony haired woman's mouth softened and shifted from a grin and into a more polite and impersonal position. She said nothing and looked down after a few moments, completely broken from her formerly outgoing persona. She didn't want to intrude after all and so she stayed quiet for the time being and turned her attention back to both of them so that she could watch on with interest. As they walked down the long platform where all of the clanking, steaming trains pulled up and discharged travellers from all across Fiore, Emily tried to keep focused on Jetta and what she was saying. The girl was rambling but the redhead couldn’t afford to seem bored. She had to pay attention and make the right impression while the going was good so she made several replies to what was being mentioned. “Well you’ll only learn more about how impressive both the Guild and the city are as we travel through it. There are so many fascinating parts of both that I can tell you of. I’m sure one day’s tour won’t cover it but I’m free and free of charge so we can likely make this a multiple day expedition. I should add that I am paid a general fee for my services by the Guild.” Once again, the green-eyed monster that was Emily Winter was keeping her lies plausible in order to avoid arousing suspicion. It was good practice even with someone like Jetta who seemed entirely too credulous for her own good. Feigning interest stopped when her jet-haired companion piped up to talk about her type of magic. It was always engaging for the redhead to learn about what kinds of magic there were in the world. She smiled and it actually held some real feeling for once as she spoke. “Shadow-Make magic sounds most impressive. I can imagine it being very powerful if it was developed to it’s full potential. I am still training myself everyday to better my magical abilities. I think you’re right though! I do think Earth magic has a lot of potential in it. Your ability sounds like it will too as time goes on.” Just when she thought that the day couldn’t possibly improve, it did. A young man came bustling up to them and mentioned that he’d overheard their conversation and also needed a guide. Emily smiled and nodded before flourishing a bow to him and speaking brightly. “Emily Winter at your service! This young lady here is already taking my tour so why don’t you tag along. What might I call you? Come on, tell me as we’re walking along. There’s no point in staying idle.” The little band was winding it’s way along and had reached the transition point between the platform and the train proper. They turned into the richly decorated grandeur of the main train station building. Murals depicting scenes of life in Magnolia, the historical achievements of the Fairy Tail guild and famous figures from Fiore’s history decorated the walls and beautifully carved pillars held up the ceiling. Even the floors were made of marble mosaic. This was a building designed to make an impact and even jaded Emily had to raise an eyebrow in awe at the splendour. |

Mal didn't really say anything as Emily talked and Jetta shifted her face from one of excitement to one that more closely resembled discomfort. He didn't really know what to say or do. Smiling his biggest smile, he bowed as Emily introduced herself. "I'm Mal. It's nice to meet you Heathcliff," Mal said as he ceased his bow and readjusted himself to a standing position. Looking over at Jetta, Mal's smile lessened a bit. "What might your name be?" He didn't really wait for an answer as the group had already started to move through the train station. Marveling at the sights that it offered he wondered how the rest of the city would stack up against such a beautiful building. |

There was nothing more exhilarating than hearing the hum and the beating of a train as it charged up and prepared to chug along to wherever its next destination may lie. Smoke a few shades darker than her eye color drifted up into the air each time a train arrived or departed up until it became wispy and faded from her vision altogether. The copious amounts of people noises had made her own mind begin to buzz in return while she listened to her fiery red-headed tour guide. The Shadow-Make mage had nodded gleefully in agreement with Emily after she'd spoken. What the red-head had said was true after all. No doubt she'd truly get to see the city of Magnolia and the Fairy Tail Guid for what they were with the help of the Earth mage, who apparently led multi-day voyages around the city. As both pale skinned mages walked along the train platforms, Jetta listened as Emily commented on their magic. It was incredible to the ebony haired young woman to learn of different types of magic. Each type seemed so unique and so useful. The young mage entirely agreed with her possible friend. Both of their magics seemed to hold high potential given time and training. Which both of them seemed willing to give for the chance of mastering the art of their unique elemental magics. Somewhat unfortunately however, a young man wished to join them and her flame haired guide was all too happy to allow it and even bowed to the gentleman who stated that his name was Mal. Jetta didn't dislike the young man. She'd never met him after all, but her initial excitement of arriving in Magnolia had temporarily faded in the presence of being around more than one stranger. Still, she spoke with a soft yet prompt politeness to him when he spoke to her and found the name he called Emily rather amusing, in spite of not showing it. “Jetta.” Looking away in embarrassment, the Shadow-Make mage quickly felt the need to correct herself with the awkwardness of puppy dog. “Erm! I mean. My name. That is. It's... I'm... My name's Jetta.” Her cheeks flushed a few tones redder and she looked away with a grin of shame. She wanted to apologize for herself, but didn't want to sound even more awkward than she already did and so she decided on changing her focus towards her surroundings. With Emily leading the way, the triad moved through the magnificent train station. Once again, she found her mouth slightly parted in awe and her smile was as wide as it possibly could be. Brightly colored and historical murals graced the walls all around her and she took in each one and marked it as significant in her mind. The exquisite building reminded her of and held the air and grandeur of a centuries old church. The building was supported by white marble pillars reaching up to the arched ceiling and chandeliers lighting their way from above. And this is just the train station... She felt self assured that this was just the tip of the iceberg of things to come. 'Magnolia is incredible.' The ebony haired young lady thought to herself. “Even the floor is impressive.” She unknowingly said aloud as she stared at the intricately decorated mosaic patterns in the marble flooring for a second as they passed it by on their tour and continued onwards. |

Now Emily had to consider how she was going to manipulate her charges. She was happy that Jetta had magical abilities that were exploitable but she needed to learn more about Mal. As they walked, she left the other female mage to look about in a wide-eyed sort of way so that she could turn her attention to learning more about the young man. He seemed...she wasn’t sure how he seemed...but there was a sense of distraction about him as though his mind was on other things. She decided to carefully prod him and gently try and learn more about him, as he didn’t seem like the type to take well to being shoved into anything. So as she pointed out a house of historical interest and watched Jetta ogle it she spoke to Mal. “So what are you looking for in Magnolia, Mal? Are you a mage too?” She left things quite wide open and free of any kind of deeper prodding and hoped that this approach might make him less cagey. She wasn’t actually sure that he was cagey but there was something about him that seemed hesitant and she had to work gently with it in order not to spook him. |
