Was Cyrus seriously flirting with Xiayu now? My my that was funny due to how poor the knight's chances were. For starters okay yes Cyrus was an attractive man but sadly that wasn't enough for the half-snake to want to put the thread through the needle with him. Secondly Cyrus was a knight and Xiayu was a dark mage, or would be one technically, so even if she had romantic feelings for her temporary partner the relationship wouldn't work out. As a result of these two facts Xiayu was going to shoot Cyrus down in the manner which she was accustomed to. "Sorry blondie you're barking up the wrong tree." And just like that the half-snake slithered out of the room following Cyrus holding her nose with her fingers to try and free her poor taste receptors from the horrible odor that was the sewer's stink. As the pair made their way through the sewer the smell would get worse and worse until it was quite literally causing the half-snake physical pain. The reason for the smell causing physical pain was because Xiayu's snake half gave her significantly more scent receptors as both her nose and forked tongue were able to pick up smells meaning things that smelt bad for a normal human smelled far worse for her. The half-snake wished she could have just gone back into the clock room as she'd prefer the constant ticking of numerous clocks over the foul putrid stench of this miserable sewer system. Eventually the two mages would come to a gigantic golden door covered in numerous chains and some very complicated looking locks. Through the door nothing could be heard, felt or sensed but the sole fact it was covered in numerous locks and chains kind of gave away the fact that this room was indeed were the demon manifested. Xiayu rubbed her chin and stared at the door with a puzzled expression on her face. She had been led to believe that the demon had been sealed and was let free by the cultists but if that was the case then why was this door sealed? Hmm... the mystery thickened but it could be possible the demon's "home" had many doors and this was just one of them right? Yeah maybe that the was answer; ultimately it didn't really matter because if the demon was behind this door then Cyrus and Xiayu needed to get in, kill the demon, take its soul and then return it to the clock work golem even though personally the half-snake would have preferred to make some money out of the demon's soul if she could. |

Cyrus gave a small chuckle at the snake-woman's response, the comment had been worth a shot to gauge her opinion of him somewhat- and from her reaction it gave the knight a small insight into the woman's thinking. The blond didn't think too much on it, if the reaction had been positive then lucky for him, if not then it was no skin of his neck. Thus, the knight gave a simple reply, "That's fine, That's fine" he said, clearly getting the message that Xiayu wasn't having any of it. The two were still stuck together a little while longer anyways, both prisoners to the putrid smell of the sewers which they unceremoniously trudged through. The blond was able to see fine through his glasses, and simply just stomped through the sewage with his uniform boots- although it was clear he was going to have to trash them once he got back home, there was no way in hell he was going to be able to sleep with how badly the place would smell... in fact he was probably going to have to get rid of most of his clothes, in that respect the blond felt somewhat bad for the snake-woman seeing as...well... snakes didn't usually have clothes on their tale and all... After a while of wandering around the Oshibana sewers in silence, the two found themselves standing in front of a strane golden door. The place looked painfully out of place, it was a wonder in itself that it hadn't been discovered probably. Although then again, there could have been some sort of magic cloaking it- but even then, that only begged the question as to why the two of them would be allowed to see it. Deciding not to overthink the minutia too much, the blond glanced at his semi-human partner, "Found it" he said, thinking that if there were a magical lair where a demon was foricbly being sealed by magic then this was as close as they were going to get. As he looked at the golden door though, Cyrus frowned, there didn't seem to be any signs of struggle or use so far, in fact the thing looked quite docile and untouched for the most part! The knight scratched his chin in beffudlement, the people above had clearly reported that there was a demon who was kidnapping children, but just what else was going on down here associated with that? "I don't know. I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this" Cyrus said to Xiayu as he looked up at the chained up door. It certainly looked closed tight, but then again if the thing was able to get out then hopefully that meant the two of them could get in. The man walked forwards and inspected the door himself, tapping it a few times, looking it over, just generally inspecting it. He had no idea what to do in such a situation though of course, he was a knight, not a demolitions expert or locksmith. If magic was the answer then he would simply turn to Xiayu for her contributions, seeing as how the knight didn't have a single magical bone in his body at all. Cyrus could feel the book and key still weighing in his pocket, solem reminders that they were going to have to bring the demon's soul back to it once this was done. What then though? Would the creature leave the sewers now that its duty had ended? Cyrus could only scratch his chin further in befuddlement as he minced the whole deal over, the buisness was a complicated one that much was certain. |

Xiayu didn't really care that Cyrus hadn't gotten annoyed about her shooting down his attempts at getting something to wet his whistle in. Xiayu was annoyed that she, like Cyrus, would probably have to throw her clothes away in order to kill the smell but unlike her partner she'd need to wash quite intensely and use a lot of scale care products to wash the smell off her body. Xiayu was grateful there was concrete paths raised above the sewer water s that meant she didn't need to come into contact with the disgusting sewage water which was a good thing as said water probably contained hundreds of germs. The stench, the fact it would ruin clothes, the dirt and the risk of catching some terrible horrible disgusting virus really drove the half-snake off the idea of water...despite the fact she liked swimming. When the pair reached the door Cyrus mentioned how he had a bad feeling about this and that just made Xiayu chuckle. Really only now was he getting a bad feeling about this? The half-snake had a bad feeling about this since the moment the golem requested they bring the demon's soul to him..if he was a he that is. "Only now? My that's up there with what could possibly go wrong" Despite the serious situation the half-snake chuckled slightly. Xiayu watched as Cyrus inspected the locks and was rather surprised that he didn't try the key that came with the journal. Surely a key located with the journal that had information about the demon might have some relation to the demon's lair? After all the original owner of the key probably did create the lair. When Cyrus looked towards her Xiayu would roll her eyes and reach her hand out gesturing for the key but also verbally asking for it just in case. "The key please blondie?" When Cyrus handed the key over, if he did, the half snake would firmly grasp it then slither towards the door and its many chains for a much closer looked. The half-snake picked up the largest of the locks and focused her reptilian eyes on the key hole then looked at the key itself. As she had expected the key hole was in the shape of an X and guess what? There was an X-shaped part of the key that looked like it would fit in perfectly. "Ahaha! I knew it!" Announcing that Xiayu pushed the X-shaped part of the key into the key hole which fit perfectly. There was a silent hum as all of the chains snapped, along with the locks, and fell down to the ground leaving the doors free to be opened. |

Cyrus frowned somewhat at hearing the snake-woman's reaction, going so far as to open his mouth in protest- but decided that it would be childish of him to defend himself, the woman was right in every way, their situation had continually been going from bad to worse. The blond must have been off his game today, the fact that he had missed the painfully obvious keyhole that practically screamed 'insert here pls' was another signal that something was rotten in the state of Denmark. Wearily, he gave the key over to the snake-woman. The blond stood back as the woman went to work, she had obviously seen the X shaped keyhole which the knight must have missed- one of the downsides of wearing sunglasses in the dark most likely... That tended to put a damper on things. Still, either way they had just undone the demon's restraints so hopefully they could kill the thing fairly quickly before it managed to escape again or anything like that. Although, considering that the knight didn't have any remarkable weapons besides his simple shortsword, he was unsure just how useful his times would be against the creature of unknown strength. The chains fell to the ground in a loud 'thud' the door creaking open and showing the dark interior. The blond watched as that sour feeling in his gut had grown, while his earlier comment had been more of a joke than an actual precaution- there was deinatly an air of malaise about the place that caused the knight to glance around a bit nervously. There were too many alarm bells going off in his head at the moment for him to really feel as relaxed as Xiayu might have, their goal was simple enough, but simple never quite seemed to equate 'easy'. "Ladies first" he said with a nod towards Xiayu. |

With the door open Cyrus and Xiayu were free to enter the chamber that apparently served as a home for the demon however neither of them had any way of knowing due to large and dark the chamber actually was. Really the brave knight wanted Xiayu of all people to enter first? Well okay then. The half-snake slithered into the room first but struggled to see anything due to the inky blackness. Suddenly the entire room flared with light as a large crystal hanging from the ceiling sent forth rays of light that flooded the entire room making it perfectly easy to see what exactly awaited Cyrus and Xiayu in the room. The room turned out to be a cistern, a raised platform surrounded by a moat of sewage water with stone ramps allowing people to cross said rivers, and in the exact middle of this cistern was a very big snake..like gigantic big. The snake was easily thirty feet long with equally giant fangs as well as numerous bumps growing on its back. The bizarre thing was that the snake, which was obviously the so called "demon", happened to be chained up and unable to move. Xiayu found it very puzzling that the snake was chained up because wasn't it, you know, supposed to be slithering around the sewers kidnapping children? The half-snake looked towards Cyrus and stared at him with a very confused expression plastered upon her pretty face. "Cyrus.....we've found the demon..but it's chained up." Hearing that the giant over grown snake struggled against its bindings and hissed angrily trying very hard to break free but to no avail. Now Xiayu, on account of having been a snake once upon a time, felt sympathetic towards the imprisoned animal but she wasn't going to simply let it free just in case the snake was a demon trying to trick people. Xiayu looked towards Cyrus and seemed to be thinking that perhaps she and the knight had been taken for a ride. |

Cyrus followed the snake-woman into the chamber, the room was first pitch black but became quickly illuminated thanks to a crystal hanging from the ceiling. Naturally, Cyrus was pretty surprised at what he had found. "Well now" Cyrus said, stiang up at the raised platform in the center of the room. A giant snake was constrained to the island placed directly into the center of the room. The thing looked absolutely monstrous, along with the fact that it was gigantic. The knight gave a simple nod, occasionally glancing over his shoulder in case this was all some sort of elaborate trap meant to catch them both unawares. Still, theings seemed far more simple than the knight was making it out to be. The giant snake looked firmly chained to the island in the center of the sewage moat, there didn't seem to be any trances of it leaving at all! The chains to the golden door outside had been the first clue that something was awry, but now that he actually saw the gigantic beast currently glaring at them with an obvious expression of silent rage, it became clear that the feeling in his gut had proven to be right yeat again. As to Xiayu's observation, Cyrus gave a soft, "Hrmmmmmm" as he looked down at his feet momentarily in thought. Not only had the people above claimed to have seen a snake demon making of with the children of Oshibana, but now a clearly magical golem was claiming that there was an elaborate plotline behind all of this- more than just a few cultists or demons mucking about. Perhaps most alarming of all though was how the two had just opened up the door to a potentially deadly creature that was searching to kill them, making an entrance and exit out of this chamber. "Well... I... Uhhh" Cyrus said, not quite sure what to make of their situation. The logical assumption was that someone must have lied to them- but who? If the thing was trapped in here without any dead kiddies lying about, what was teh factor missing from their equation? "None of this adds up, the equation is there but the answer doesn't fit the problem" he said, looking up at the monster and thinking back to the clockwork golem and to the reports the townspeople gave them both. "What do you think we should do?" he asked Xiayu, occasionally glancing over his shoulder at the entrance to the chamber- it wasn't clear just who' and what was at play down here besides them... |

The giant over grown snake violently struggled against its chains making it very obvious that it, well he, wanted to escape. Due to the amount of chains and the fact some of them wrapped tightly around the snake's mouth it was unable to talk and so had to resort to simply hissing. Xiayu had already decided what to do before her knight partner had even asked but what she planned to do had a great number of risks. "Let him out obviously. Look around this room there's only one way in and out and that's the door we came in. Sure there's other doors but they are locked by the same chains as the door we used and those chains need the key we have." It was pretty obvious that without the key Cyrus and Xiayu had collected from the clock room there was no way in or out of this room which was all the proof that the golem had been lying Xiayu needed. The half-snake slithered towards the imprisoned snake and gently rested her hand on its head before speaking. "I am not sure if you can hear me but...I'm going to let you out now so from one snake to other..don't eat me or my friend here k?" The imprisoned snake couldn't nod or shake his head and was forced to simply hiss in response. Whether the hiss meant yes or no, Xiayu didn't know as hisses didn't exactly translate into English, was not something the half-snake really cared about. Xiayu knew she was taking a big risk with this but if she was right, which a lot of the evidence pointed towards, then she may have solved the entire mystery of the missing children and the snake demon. Xiayu found the lock of the chains and inserted the key which caused a loud and very ominous clicking sound to echo through the cistern. The chains seemed to turn into golden dust and float away freeing the snake. The formerly imprisoned snake uncoiled itself and stretched its body out to the maximum length surrounding both Cyrus and Xiayu. It might seem aggressive to surrounded Cyrus and Xiayu but the snake was only doing that for the sake of stretching its body out as the cistern had limited space. Suddenly the gigantic snake reared up and literally yawned revealing the two gigantic over grown fangs which dripped a clear colourless liquid which was, you guessed it, venom but don't worry it was only dangerous if ingested or it came into contact with the blood stream. Obviously Xiayu was a little...worried but her fear passed when the snake began to start talking in a hiss like voice which didn't worry the half-snake so much as once upon a time she was a snake too. "Hmm..human..and..something else. I thank you for freeing me...tell me what brought you here?" The gigantic snake, who so far had not given his name, had a very good guess as to why both Xiayu and Cyrus were here but there was always the possibility of a pleasant surprise. Xiayu's outfit didn't have much in the way of pocket so she simply inserted between the depths of her cleavage not out of a desire to sexually entice anyone but because she didn't have anywhere else to put it. The gigantic snake would look between Cyrus and Xiayu expecting an answer. There was no need to worry about the over grown snake running out of patience; it had been chained up for many years so what was a few more minutes compared to that? Naturally, when Xiayu made her intention to set the giant snake free, Cyrus was somewhat alarmed. The knight still felt that even though they had been tricked, setting the snake free could have been doing more damage than good. If the thing attacked them, the chances of Cyrus being able to fend the thing off were fairly remote. Still, it seemed to be their only possible option right now unless they wanted to simply leave the door open and let some strangers or cultists wander in. The blond looked up at the snake towering above them, the creature didn't exactly seem trustworthy. The golem had certainly lied to them, however such questions begged just where the clockwork creature's allegiences lay. "This feels like a bad idea" the knight muttered under his breath, even though it was clear that the snake-woman had already made up her mind on what she was going to do next. Cyrus could on watch as she slithered over to the giant creature and tried to talk it down enough to not eat them. The man slowly reached for his sword as the snake hissed and Xiayu went about setting the creature free. There was no telling what it might do, sure the two had just freed it from its prison, but that didn't mean the snake was obliged to let them live by any means. As the creature stretched its body out, the knight began to feel even more weary initially. It almost looked like it was sizing the human-and-a-half with its gigantic form. The venom dripped from its fangs as it raised its head high above the ground, looking at the two humanoids with an almost contempt stare. Once the creature spoke though, the knight loosened his grip on the hilt of his sword. The thing certainly seemed hospitable, which was a good sign by all accounts. The man was somewhat surprised that the snake didn't know why the two were there in the first place, he had assumed that it knew of the golem as well as the intricate past that had linked the two entities together. As Xiayu was busy putting the key away, the knight decided to just keep things simple and tell the snake what the two humans knew. "We were told to come and kill you, there had been claims on the surface that a snake demon had been kidnapping children. We investigated and found a golem made of clockwork which claimed you were the culprit- we showed up with the intention to kill you seeing as how we thought you were free" Cyrus said, his black sunglasses dimly reflecting some of the light in the chamber. "Although seeing as how your not exactly as bloodthirsty as we were assuming, it seems we were tricked" the knight said, thinking back to the clock room they had been to earlier and thinking on just what the golem could have been hiding from them? So far the creature seemed like the most obvious suspect. |

As had been expected Cyrus did in fact feel that the idea of freeing the gigantic snake from its imprisonment was a bad one but seeing as how the snake was already freed so it was a matter of too little too late. Was Xiayu concerned about the giant snake with its venom dripping fangs? Yes yes she was and with good reason. Based upon how big the sna]ke was it could easily swallow Cyrus and Xiayu whole not to mention the fangs could leave gigantic holes in them and then you had the venom. All of those things, coupled with the facts snakes can move surprisingly fast, made the fact Xiayu freed the snake a very dangerous situation. Hopefully this giant monstrously huge snake wasn't hungry. The fact the giant snake had asked why Cyrus and his assistant had freed him was a good sign but it didn't promise survival because for all everyone knew the giant snake could decided to turn Xiayu and Cyrus into a bite sized snack. The snake listened to what Cyrus had to say and pondered it momentarily. For a moment there was a flash of contempt and amusement over the snake's face but it soon vanished as the giant snake moved his face very close to Cyrus's. "Ahhh I ssssseeee. While I am a demon I can not stand human children. So annoying and loud. Of course as you can probably tell I've not been able to leave this chamber for rather a long time." The snake hissed and moved away from Cyrus taking great effort to prevent his venom from landing onto the knight or Xiayu as his venom was a fast acting acid and neurotoxin; not only did it destroy your nerves it also ate your flesh away rather rapidly. Xiayu was rather angry that she had been tricked so easily by that golem. The element of how suspicious the golem's story was had been struck home by what the giant snake just said if it was telling the truth anyway but the half-snake was willing to believe the once imprisoned demon. Still before she could slither off to teach that treacherous golem a lesson there was the risk of what the now free snake demon would do with its new found freedom. Xiayu looked towards Cyrus and nodded at him indicating they should probably go after the golem and get the truth out of it. "And what will you do Mister?..." The snake's head suddenly snapped to look at Xiayu focusing his eyes on her. "Hmm...I'm not sure. Probably go explore this world...." Of course the risks involved with a giant demon snake slithering out of the sewers needn't be mentioned here but would Cyrus bring them up or not? |

Cyrus listened as the snake talked, its voice seeming somewhat contemplative yet still managing to be threatening in its own way- perhaps that was just the side effect of a giant demon snake slithering around and nearly slobbering venom all over the knight? The blond had to side-step out of the way of the falling globs of venom a few times, although with his speed and reflexes the task was fairly simple and easy- lord knew what would happen if the knight were to accidentally get hit by one of those things. The goo seemed to sizzle rather unsettlingly on the floor, bubbling and boiling whatever was below it. The blond took a few steps away from the snake as it spoke, even though it had already moved away by its own accord. On the more informative side, they had succesfully determined that this entire goose-chase had been a waste of time. This was not the creature they had been looking for, at least it did not seem this way, the monster had been safely fastened into its cell by an earlier manufacturer until Cyrus and Xiayu came along and freed it. The knight frowned at being tricked and even more so at the fact that the two of them were probably going to have to fix this one way or another. The golem had tricked them, but this merely begged the question of why? The snake certainly had the capacity to be dangerous, one need only to look at it to tell that, yet it still managed to heed reason. Perhaps more striking was how the golem had tricked the two into freeing when it had been safely secure in the first place! The thing wanted it dead, it even gave the humans the tools for the deed- why didn't it just come and kill it itself? The blond frowned once more as hte implicaitons of this discovery began to dawn on him slowly. Perhaps the snake would have been of more use to the two if they were ever going to figure this mystery out and get to the one who was really behind this plot. Xiayu asked the natural question of what the snake would do next now that the two of them had freed it, the idea that the snake wanted to get out of these sewers and explore it for himself was even more natural. Unfortunately, the creature's freedom would surely be short-lived if it was spotted. If it wasn't killed it would surely be captured and experimented on or something like that, letting it roam about the streets of Oshibana or the wilderness of Fiore was not an ideal outcome for this situation. "I'm afraid that would be a bad idea" Cyrus said, looking up at the snake which yearned for freedom at last, "-if you are seen you will surely be caught and imprisoned once more, or worse..." the blond said, hoping that the creature would try to understand where the two humans were coming from. The knight knew nothing of this monster but knew that with the Demon Inquisition spreading paranoia like wildfire, the snake would be constantly under threat. "What do you know of this golem though?" Cyrus asked, folding his arms and wondering what the creature knew about the clockwork golem the two had met earleir, if anything at all. |
