Bolts of flame lit up the dark recesses of the forest, trunks exploding into rains of splinters and leaves getting thrown into the air, forming burning storms of swirling cinders. Two figures darted among the flames, one chasing the other. It was obvious the wild torrents of flame were the feeble attempts of the prey to defend himself, but the hunter's armor deflected what he did not avoid. The fleeing man's robes hindered his movement as well, whereas the hunter seemed to move with an easy grace despite the full plate armor he was wearing. Sometimes, the armored man was wreathed in purple flame, or sent a bolt of it towards his opponent - but as opposed to the orange tongues of fire, the purple flames did not seem to burn the forest around them. As with all things, the hunt came to an end. It was an end worthy of any hunt - swift, brutal, and sudden. A single swipe of the hunter's silver sword carved through the muscle of the prey's upper leg, sending the robed man stumbling to the ground, his pursuer coming to a stop soon as well. He groaned as he lifted the fallen man to one knee with an armored fist. The strange, purple-and-black robes seemed to glow in the light of the flames around him. Sion sighed. A messier chase than he had hoped for, but he had his target. He crossed his arms as he stood in front of the cultist. A despicable man. Already, Sion saw the anger in his eyes, the stringy muscles shifting under the robe. He sighed mere moments before the cultist lunged at him, fire on his hands. Sion simply reached out, grabbing his target's head. Pale, purple light shone from his palm, filling the small clearing even with the man's face covering the hand. "Forfeit your mind!" he howled, digging his power into the man's very soul. Edited by Zen, Feb 2 2015, 09:27 PM.

Fleur padded through the forest, her green eyes taking in the beauty of the lavender forest as she wandered. The last time she'd been here had been a few months back when she'd met another plant Mage, Inara Serra. Since then the forest hadn't changed much, at least in her opinion, at least that was until she came to a part of the forest that was charred beyond repair. She looked at the damage done, pain filling her chest. Who could do such a thing to such a beautiful place. That was when she heard it, a loud yell of someone seeming to be about to do a spell and she took off as fast as her legs could carry her, tears filling her eyes. Who would do such a thing to a beautiful place. She skidded to a stop when she came across a man who seemed to be a knight but she could tell was a mage, standing above another man who had terror in his eyes and she looked at the two of them. "As guardian of this forest, I demand you tell me who is responsible for destroying it." she said, trying to keep her voice neutral as she felt tears fall from her eyes for the loss of nature that either one or both of the people in front of her had caused. She was bluffing about being the guardian of the forest but they didn't need to know that, as long as none of them called her out on her bluff, she would be alright. "How could you do such a monstrous thing to a place so full of life?" she whispered. |

Sion barely looked up at the new arrival as he performed his interrogation. Guardian of the forest? If anything ever made Sion skeptical, it was that. Still, he remembered what the girl had told him. Well, back to the task at hand. Blinding, impossible pain wracked the cultist's mind, not even allowing him to lose consciousness as the torture went on. "Tell me of your lair." Sion asked, this time far more calm than his previous exclamation. The cultist still resisted, struggling, trying to bat Sion's hand away, but the pain left his movements of struggle feeble and weak. Eventually the man broke and started rambling about instructions and locations, codes and other information concerning the cultist base. Sion listened attentively to everything he said. After a while, the man started claiming that that was all he knew and begged to be released. Silently acquiescing to his request, the light from Sion's hand flared one last time, and the man collapsed to the floor like a puppet whose strings had been cut. It was rather obvious that this man was now as dead as they came. "Really?" Sion asked nonchalantly, taking off his helmet and running a finger through his snowy hair. "That's strange. I talked to this forest's guardian spirit earlier. It's thanks to him I found this man to begin with." he said, nudging the body with the toe of an armored boot. Shooting the girl a warning look, he crossed his arms. "It's unwise to lie to an Inquisitor." Before answering her question, Sion rubbed his eyes. "As much as we like to deny it, the instincts that lie at the very core of human nature are evil. Some people overcome this evil nature. Most people just live the way they're raised, with only the most primal instinct, reproduction, influencing their behavior. Others, though... Others embrace this evil. Many humans will have lusted for destruction or domination at least once in their life, but people like this want nothing else. This man was part of a larger group like that. Some worship darker powers for the futile hope of domination. Some do it because they're utterly deranged and want this entire world to cease existing." Sion spread his arms as if to indicate the destruction. "Either way, all the world will look like this if their plans succeed. Nothing will be left but flame and ashes, and even these mortal servants of evil will be wiped out by their infernal masters. The Inquisition was created to prevent this." |

She flushed, he'd called her bluff but that didn't mean she wouldn't protect this forest with her life. As a plant mage, someone who used Mother natures gift as her magic, it was only fitting that she used her magic to do what mother nature did and protect this place. "Alright, I may not be the guardian but I am someone who will protec this place." she said before she attempted to use her healing spell on the small area around her. "Mother natures gift" she said before her magic started to flow. She concentrated it into the ground, into the life that had been singed away by the man tied up by the one in front of her. She felt sadness seep through her as she found she could only heal a little bit of the wound left on the land. She felt tears begin to fall as she fell onto her knees, hearing what he said finally. "Wh-why would they...." she trailed off, sniffling. "...do su-such a thing. I d-don't understand. Why would anyone destroy such a precious gift." she was crying now, feeling like someone had kicked her in the gut. Why would the demons destroy such a place? Why did they crave such needless destruction? The violet haired girl looked at the man, her green eyes pleading. "You'll stop them, right?" she asked in a small voice. |

Well, the girl wasn't a very good liar. Sion hadn't talked to any spirits. Still, she bought his lie hook, line and sinker. Not that he had believed her even a little to begin with. Watching her break down tugged on his heartstrings, though, ragged and thin as those were. Sion had seen enough people act sad to distinguish a fake from the real thing, and this girl legitimately seemed shaken by the destruction. Sighing, Sion got to one knee, his armor clanking with the movement. "Many reasons. Most of the mortals are just misguided. They expect some twisted justice, or power, or immortality. Some are insane, as I already told you. As for the demons themselves..." Sion grimaced. "There's many different kinds, but this particular groups is evil made manifest. When they invaded Fiore, I saw them employ creatures based off the seven sins. They're malice and vice made flesh, and want nothing more than to destroy the precarious balance of order in this world." Sion tried to give a small, reassuring smile when the girl asked him to stop the cultists. "Well, that's what the Inquisition is for. I'll do my best." he said, before getting to his feet again. Crouching next to the cultist's corpse, he went through the man's robes as if looking for something. With a groan he straightened. "Not here... Dammit. Must be in the second base." he said to himself, scratching his chin. |

Hearing his words soothed her a bit, not a lot though. She hated how powerless she was to do anything besides a very minimal amount and it frustrated her to no end. She wiped the tears from her eyes as he said he would do his best and she tried to smile back, her green eyes still watery. "I'm sorry for lying. I just... I'm a plant mage, I'm supposed to keep these things from happening, keep those with ill intent from destroying the place I consider a home. I'm glad that you're fighting to protect us I just wish I were stronger so I'm not so useless." she said before she realized he had stood up and gone back to the body of someone she assumed was a cultist, searching for something. "I don't understand why people worship such destructive forces? Do they not realize it could ultimately kill them?" she queried softly. She didn't understand much about people as she prefered to be with her plants than bother with people but she supposed if they were going to cause trouble, she would need to put a stop to it. She would need to get stronger if she planned on helping in any way and she would need to quit sitting here oblivious to the world. "Normally, I would stay out of these types of things but they threaten what is precious to me and I will not let them get away with that." she said, drying the remnants of the tears from her eyes. Her green eyes gazed at the man before her, sorrow and anger in her eyes. |
