In hindsight Adrian probably should have understood what Trevor meant, but as the case had been the Take Over Mage hadn't. Now that Trevor explained what he meant by asking "Where is this place", meaning what importance does the house have, it did make a lot of sense he would ask that question. Adrian would have explained why this location was important, or more accurately what importance it had, but Trevor had beaten Adrian to the punch, working it out himself. It may be rude for Adrian's response to be simply silence, but he felt there was no need to talk or verbally acknowledge what Trevor had said, after all it was correct and seeing as how nobody was contradicting it, it could be assumed it was correct. The elderly man sat down opposite the two mages, clutching his walking stick as his arms and legs wobbled slightly, age had taken its toll on Theodore but he wasn't about to kick the bucket just yet. Theodore was planning to speak up, but in his old age he had grown slow and that gave Trevor the chance to speak first. "Well my boy! It's a pleasure to meet you! I trust Adrian has already introduced me? Oh well! Even if he has not, my name is Theodore Goodchild!" Despite his age and obviously frail physical condition, Theodre still had a lot of energy, evident in how he spoken with such vibrancy and life, but soon the elderly man seemed to darken as the conversation turned to dark words. "Now..I bet you're wondering why I invited you here Adrian" Thedore took a deep breath. "It all started after the Bosco war ended. Deserters and cowards who fled the Fiorian army showed up here, thinking our town would be an easy mark, which at first we were, that was when we managed to hire the mercenaries defending us. Alas the mercenaries weren't able to get rid of the bandits, so we've been stuck here, and with that attack of Demons the army haven't been able to help us, which is why I called you here Adrian. Please, on the behalf of Tully village take care of these bandits" To say Adrian was...unnerved by this request was putting it mildly, he doubted that he'd be able to help and so part of him wanted to refuse, however a different part of him was telling him that helping would be the right thing to do. "I'm...not sure if I could help.." The Take Over Mage gulped, obviously unnerved by the idea of such a thing. |

Trevor felt rather rude that he’d spoken so quickly. He had also been taught to allow elders the time it took to speak before speaking himself. However, he bowed politely at the man’s greeting and responded in a tone with the appropriate deference. “I am at your service Master Goodchild.” Unlike Adrian, Trevor was quite willing to make a commitment to help. The overblown sense of chivalry that had been ingrained in him came to the fore and he rather thoughtlessly inserted himself into the conversation. The brashness of youth combined with the overheated nobility that had infiltrated the young man made him pledge both of them to help. “Perhaps it is not my place, sir, but I believe that with Adrian’s assistance we can help you purge this village of bandits. I pledge my sword to the cause and will stand as long as I can against their oppression and tyranny. I shall drive these vagrants forth and dash them upon the rocks of the mountains. I am sure that my companion here feels the same. Adrian strikes me as a most noble youth as well.” Having finished his ridiculous speech, Trevor bowed again and waited for a reply as well as Adrian’s acquiesence to the rash pledge that he’d just made. |

Adrian hadn't objected out of heartlessness or a disregard for the well being of Tully Village and its inhabitants, he was just very afraid about messing up and when you had the low confidence and self-esteem that Adrian had, fears were all the greater. Adrian sighed and took a deep breath, part of him wanted to help out Theodore but the other part of him was simply terrified by the notion, what if he died? What if he got hurt? The last time Adrian had done something like this was on Galuna Island and while it went really well, he did almost die a few times and that was what terrified him the most. While Adrian was in the depths of his self-doubting, Trevor took the initiative and pledged both his services and Adrian's to the cause of defeating these bandits which well... much to the Take Over Mage's chagrin it meant he had to help know. "But...okay I'll help..." Sighing heavily to himself Adrian realised he wasn't really being given much of a choice here, so he agreed. "However I'm going to need you to look after Ozzy, it's too dangerous to bring her along" Adrian gently pat Ozzy on the head and smiled, before standing up in preparation to leave the house As for Theodore he was glad that the two youths agreed to assist in this matter, but before they left their was something the two of them needed to know. "WAIT! Before you go, you'll need this" Without rising from his seat the elderly man removed a rolled up piece of paper and handed it to Trevor. If Trevor opened the map it would be revealed that it was a map with directions to the bandit's campsite. The map was drawn on fresh clean crisp paper, which made sense given how recent the banditry issues plaguing Tully Village were. Returning to Ozzy for a moment, she was aware that her adoptive father was going to be leaving her behind for a moment, but she knew he'd return, he always did. |

Trevor glanced at Adrian who appeared to be apprehensive about the decision that the other young man had made about fighting the bandits. The slim lad wondered if he’d miscalculated by assuming that Adrian wanted to help him out with this situation, but he hadn’t said “no” so what else was Trevor supposed to think. Once again, his youthful desire to appear as a noble warrior seized him and he made one more flowery statement. “We shall drive the bandits forth from this village, Master Theodore! You have my word. Come, let’s set off, Adrian.” They said their goodbyes to the old man and stepped out of his house into the scent of his immaculate rose garden. Trevor unfolded the map and showed it to his companion as well. “I see they’re camped just west of the village in a forest. We need to get in there and create a distraction. We don’t have numbers on our side so we’ll have to use some strategy instead. Do you have any idea of what we might do? I...don’t know quite how to ask this...but are you able to use magic?” It was only now that the Northerner realized that he actually had very little idea of what sort of person Adrian was or what he might have competency with. Once again, his sense of chivalry had gotten him carried away before he’d had a good chance to think through a plan of action. It was too late, though, he was committed. |

If Adrian had been feeling apprehensive he wasn't anymore, not because of any sudden burst of eagerness but because he had offered to help, plus Tully Village was his home and despite how...worried he was about messing up, Adrian knew that he should at the very least try to do something. Unlike Adrian Trevor seemed to be far more energetic about this whole bandit business, which was probably a good thing, as Adrian himself wasn't exactly wasn't exactly the most vibrant person in the world. As Trevor seemed to be the leader type Adrian was more than happy to let that be the case, he didn't do leadership. Now that the pair of mages were outside in the rose garden, their noses assaulted by the potent scent of the garden, Trevor decided to unfold the map and show it to Adrian. The Take-Over Mage paused and took a long look at the map, thinking silently as he thought about things. "I know where that is...it's a nice place for a picnic" Sighing to himself, Adrian thought about the picnics he had with his uncle at that spot, and found himself missing it but no, those were simply memories of an easier time and had very little impact upon the present. As the pair of mages walked further and further from the rose garden Trevor spoke up yet again, mentioning how a distraction would be needed to create a distraction, which honestly Adrian didn't understand, not that he was opposed to the idea of strategy. "While I agree that strategy is indeed vital..I don't see why a distraction is necessary, we don't even know what the bandit encampment is like and how fortified it is. As for magic? Yes, I'm a Take Over mage, I turn into prehistoric life forms" Adrian walked with Trevor through the village, out of the gates until eventually they started getting closer to the bandit camp. |

Trevor had to chuckle a little at Adrian’s comment about the picnic. He glanced over at his companion and replied. “Well I guess that means we’d better make sure that only citizens of Tully Village can use that place for picnics. I think that those bandits don’t really deserve to be camped there!” The knight persisted in his explanation for why a distraction would be necessary in order to deal with the bandits. Adrian did have a point though. Trevor cleared his throat and responded. “Well obviously we need to see what they’ve got in terms of defenses and how many of them there are, but with only two of us, we need a way to divide them. We can’t just charge in there directly. I think if we can catch them off guard and get them a bit confused, we’ll have an easier time of it. Unfortunately, I only have my sword. I’m not gifted with magic.” The type of magic that Adrian used could come in handy and Trevor said as much. “If you could, say, transform into a dinosaur, I think that would be a useful distraction. If we do that, I can sneak in and deal with the leader. We really just need to take care of him or her. Bandits tend to be a cowardly bunch and without someone to whip them into shape, they often fall apart.” He added. “But let’s sneak up there and see what we’re dealing with first before we speculate any further. Lead the way, Adrian!” |

This Trevor guy really was energetic wasn't he? Not like that was a problem but it was a strange change of pace as to how things normally were. "You're really into this aren't you?" It was a simple observation made based on the things Trevor had been saying, intended more to help pass the time. The Take-Over mage actually agreed with Trevor that the bandits didn't deserve the right to take over the valley, especially considering they had been harassing the village Adrian grew up in, as well as making the lives of the entire nation's kind old person population rather difficult; that was actually probably the most insulting thing about this entire affair. Hopefully Trevor would explain why the distraction seemed to be so important, Adrian wanted to just break down the gate and unleash pure havoc. The important part of the dialogue exchange was why Trevor believed a distraction was necessary, it was for the sake of finding out information about the bandit's camp, which was a worthy goal, but for some reason Adrian wasn't really sure if stealth was necessary. For starters neither of them knew anything about the bandits except their was more than two of them, which did give them the numerical advantage, but that didn't always mean divide and conquer was necessary. "Well...okay I guess? It just feels like we're making plans of what to do, without actually knowing anything. All we know is they out number us, which isn't what I'd call the whole picture" But as Trevor was in charge he could do whatever he liked. It was kind of surprising that Trevor wasn't a mage, after all most magically gifted members of Fiore's population vastly out weighed those without magical talents, not that Adrian had any grudge or vendetta's against the magically crippled. If creating a distraction, and giving away the element of surprise, was just for the sake of gathering information Adrian would not have agreed with it, after all it seemed a waste when simply using stealth to gathering information was more viable. However as Trevor announced his plan to use a distraction to take out the leader, Adrian found that was rather a good idea, and something he ultimately agreed with. "Oh..so you want to sneak in and kill the leader while I make a mess? Right, that makes more sense" The pair reached the entrance of the valley, roughly thirty feet away from the bandit camp. Adrian moved behind a nearby pile of rocks and crouched down, peeking out to take a look at the campsite. Taking a look at the camp, as even from this distance it could be seen, it was obviously all the bandits had in the way of defenses was a hastily built wooden wall and a gate, with people patrolling the walls clutching weapons, beyond that neither Adrian nor Trevor would be able to tell what weapons they were due to the distance. Crouching behind a large pile of rocks Adrian looked away from the wooden camp and turned to face Trevor. "Well..there's about a twenty foot long wooden wall, about ten feet high being patrolled by three people, can't tell what weapons they have. Doesn't seem difficult to break through, at least for me" Adrian rubbed his chin and decided against using his fire ball launching forms, he didn't want to burn everything down. |

Trevor was glad that his companion grasped the strategy that he wanted to use. It had taken him a while, but Adrian just wasn’t used to thinking in a military fashion. The young swordsman had been drilled extensively on tactics and strategy. He’d even been on one or two short skirmishes although his knowledge and experience was far from comprehensive. He wasn’t about to let on though, not when there was an adventure to be had. He gave Adrian a glance and spoke softly. “So if you go in there as...well...whatever it is you turn into and just start smashing the place up, that’s a start. I think the best thing to do is to get everyone moving in one direction so that I can sneak in the other way and get my shot at killing the leader. He probably isn’t a very good swordsman. I, on the other hand, have some skills. So, what do you think about my plan?” Although arrogance wasn’t all that common in Trevor, it did exist in his personality. It usually showed up whenever he was talking about his ability with a blade. However, he’d trained too long and hard not to have some pride in his skills. |

You'd think someone who had spent a few of their years studying at the Knight Academy would be more knowledgeable of military strategy wouldn't you? Well that would be the case but Adrian never really cared much for what the Academy had tried to teach him, and when he left it was swiftly put out of mind. Adrian understood the plan and was more than prepared to carry his part out, after all turning into a dinosaur and causing mayhem wasn't exactly a difficult task, but despite that Trevor asked what Adrian thought about the plan. "Well I guess it will work? I'm not really the right type to ask, you're in charge after all, not me" Adrian hated being a leader, despite being fairly good at it, at least if the Bosco Invasion and past experiences had anything to say about it. If a distraction was needed Adrian would need something big, attention grabbing and too dangerous to ignore..yes he knew exactly which form to pick. Taking a deep breath the Take Over Mage mentally recited the spell that would turn him into a Carnotaurus, and with bright light enveloping his entire form, Adrian was soon replaced with a four meter tall, nine meter long horned dinosaur. With a snort, to signal he was ready as Adrian couldn't talk in this form, the dinosaur ran off and charged towards the gate. As Adrian charged he channeled magic into his jaw, filling it with a huge ball of flame and then when he bit down on the gate, it exploded. The noise of the explosion, if the yelling of the wall guards hadn't been enough, caught the attention of pretty much every single bandit in the camp, and they all charged out to attempt to bring down the dinosaur. |

It took a great deal of Trevor’s willpower not to look overawed by the massive creature that had materialized in front of him. He had expected something large and lizardy but this was quite beyond his wildest expectations. It would certainly provide quite a useful distraction for the bandits. If he knew the type of man (or woman) who’d lead a band of rabble, they would let the grunts take the brunt of the attack, while they stayed out of harm’s way . The noble youth was counting on that fact in order to sneak into the encampment and find the kingpin of the whole bunch. When Adrian’s saurian form crashed through the gate, Trevor darted out from the covering of brush that he’d taken shelter in and ran into the huge gap in the wall. He drew the simple, well-forged blade from the sheath on his back and began picking his way from tent to tent carefully. He found no one until he reached a slightly larger, more ornate tent off in the corner of the simply fortified camp. It was clearly placed as far away from an attack and Trevor suspected that it backed onto a secondary entrance to the place for easy escape. Pushing the tent flap open with his blade, the slim young man smiled as a long-haired, broad shouldered man stood with his back to Trevor. The emboldened youngster took a step in and spoke firmly. “My name is Trevor Purfoil and I am here to stop you and your craven, dastardly crew of brigands from terrorizing the village. You will go at once or my hand will be forced to expel you!” The man turned around at the youth nearly gasped. It wasn’t a man at all but a very large, powerfully built woman who faced him and she laughed right in his face. “You couldn’t expel a fly from a dung pile, boy. Challenge me? Hah! I’ll make a vest out of your skin.” She drew her broadsword and Trevor gulped but held his resolve. “Very well. You leave me with no choice. On your guard!” He adopted a fighting stance and feinted towards the woman. She roared with laughter and charged him. He saw her raise the sword for a vicious blow and he parried it while leaping backwards so that the force glanced from the blade instead of jolting down his arm. She came at him with the blade ready again but she found air as he dodged. Now they were in the open area of the camp and Trevor began his deadly dance with the woman. She was quick and strong, but Trevor was well trained and had learned that when facing a superior enemy, the best strategy was not to get hit. He was lithe, young and agile so that he could move well. With the sound of Adrian in the background, the fight was on. |
