Tully village was the town that Adrian had done most of his growing up in, he still owned a house there left to him after his Grandfather's death but he didn't live there due to what could only be described as "issues". Adrian had been called back to the town by an old friend of his grandfather's to help assist in some problem's the town had been having recently. Tully village had been plagued by bandit attacks recently and the elderly had pooled their resources to try and fight back, mainly by having hired soldiers to try and protect the town, which they had done perfectly by closing the gate's and manning the walls but if that is the case, why had Adrian been called in? Well, while the soldiers had protected the town, they haven't had any success in driving the bandits out, and sadly the residents of the town didn't have the money to hire any proper mages from a guild so they were in a bit of a predicament. Adrian must have looked incredibly strange walking down the road towards Tully Village, he did have a baby Ostrich sleeping on his head and a large over grown beetle attaching to his right shoulder, not to mention he was wearing a bright red armour and had a spear attached to his back. Walking towards the town Adrian was more than a little distressed, okay he was really distressed, to see that the walls of his childhood home were manned by soldiers clutching assorted weapons. As Adrian approached the main gate these guards pointed their crossbows at the mage, staring him down to make it clear that he should just turn around and go back the way he came. Standing above the wooden gate there was a very annoyed looking man, who for some reason seemed to be the person in charge. It occurred to the Take Over Mage that getting in may be easier said than done. |

Coincidentally, at the same time as the curious traveler was making his way down the road, Trevor Purfoil was striding along the same path towards the gates of Tully Village. His long traveling cloak was billowing out behind him in the breeze and the telltale outline of a sword’s scabbard could be seen underneath it. He was in a particularly fine mood that day and, as a consequence, he was paying attention and not lost in thought. His observant gaze was drawn first to the odd traveler who now found himself standing at the gates of the village. The ostrich and beetle appendages that he had were striking and Trevor wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. He didn’t like the attitude of the guards that stood at the gates and he was quite sure that the traveller didn’t appreciate it either. He was used to dealing with insolent, rude minor guardsmen in his home village and he decided to take charge. Drawing himself up to his full height and putting on his best “in command” attitude, he strode forward and met the guard’s gaze full on. “Why are you standing there and detaining innocent travelers? This gentleman and I are merely trying to enter this village and posing you no threat. I demand that you instantly remove yourselves from our path and let us in. Your surly manners are not appreciated or acceptable!” |

Adrian was surprised to see his home town, or more accurately the town he grew up in, in such a war like state and more than a little concerned, especially considering the guards were pointing bows and crossbows at Adrian as if he was some sort of criminal. The leader of these men cleared his throat and spoke up, addressing the boy with the animals, after all it was a fairly weird and out of place site to see a boy no older than twenty carrying an over grown Beetle and Ostrich around with him. "I don't know who you are boy but get out of here, we've been plagued by bandits. Me and my men have been hired to defend these people, and you don't look like a simple traveler." in this situation Adrian's armour, weapons and pets were working against him, making him seem more suspicious than he actually was. It was at this moment that a second traveler showed up, who instantly began berating the leader of the guards and demanding access to the village, which obviously rubbed the leader the wrong way. "No. I will not let you in. This village has been attacked repeatedly in the past few weeks by a bunch of marauding bandits, and you lot don't look like simple travelers." None of the guards lowered their weapons or made any move to open the gate; they wouldn't simply open the gate because this bossy person demanded it. Adrian could tell that none of the people here, Trevor and the Guard captain, would simply do what the other demanded, and as Adrian needed to get into Tully Village and find out what was going on, knew he needed to play the role of a diplomatic. "Um hi yes. I know I don't really look like a simple traveler, but I was invited here by one of the residents, an old associate of my Grandfather's who lived here while I grew up here. They are called Theodore Goodchild, if you need to confirm it" Adrian had done his best to explain why he was here, and hopefully that would be enough to convince the guard captain he was here with good intentions. "And uh, I can vouch for my traveling partner here, he's not a threat" the captain of the guards grimaced as his expression turned to one of consideration. He signaled for one of his guards to search the village for someone by the name "Theodore Goodchild", ask about Adrian and report back. "In the mean time, you two will wait here" at least now Adrian ahd given himself and Trevor a chance to get inside. |

Trevor had wanted to make a sharp retort but he tried to remember that he was here to learn something. He’d been sent out into the world because he needed to learn how to live in it. Behaving like a spoiled lordling was exactly the problem this process was supposed to cure. Instead of getting angry, he managed to take a deep breath and keep the annoyance out of his voice as he regarded his new acquaintance as calmly as he could. “I...thank you for your help. I suppose it never occurred to me that your approach would work. Mind you, it helps that you know someone in this town.” He put on a smile before he spoke again with more warmth in his voice this time. “My name is Trevor. May I know yours? I’ve been on the road a while and I haven’t spoken to anyone much in that time. It might be nice to talk with you for a while. I would request..no...I mean if it isn’t a bother to you, could I talk and walk with you a while?” The northern noble was trying his best to remain friendly and polite. He had promised his father that he’d learn how to be more gracious and how to deal with the average citizens of the world so now he was attempting to fulfill that promise by doing what was proper under the circumstances. |

Adrian was relieved that he had managed to convince the Guard Captain to at least give him a chance to prove he wasn't a bandit, which was the fairest solution as far as the Take Over mage was concerned. In the mean time, as in while he waited, Adrian didn't really have much to occupy himself, at least that was until the traveler he had vouched for spoke up. Apparently the name of Adrian's fellow traveler was Trevor but apart from that, his gender and the fact he had some sort of reason for visiting Tully Village, Adrian didn't know anything about him. "Uh..well it's nice to meet you Trevor. My name is Adrian and you're welcome" Oh, and the fact this traveler was welcome happened to be something else Adrian knew about him, but apart from that and the previously mentioned facts. Whoever this Trevor person was he wanted to simply walk and talk with Adrian for a while, which honestly was something the Take Over mage had no problem with, however he couldn't promise to be stimulating conversation. "Um..sure I guess? I can't promise I'll be stimulating conversation. Being social was never really...a forte of mine" Despite having agreed to walk and talk with Trevor, Adrian had no idea what the two of them should discuss, nor did he feel comfortable with starting up a conversation, not that he minded carrying out a conversation. It was at this moment in time the gates of the town's wooden wall were opened, inviting both Trevor and Adrian inside. The brown haired boy gestured for Trevor to go first, and would walk alongside him when Trevor did so. |

Trevor stepped into the town and was immediately struck by a wave of nostalgia. Tully Village looked very much like the place he was born, or rather it looked very much like the place that was outside of where he was born. The keep that had overlooked the town was his birthplace but he’d wandered in streets that closely resembled the ones he was now strolling through with Adrian. He turned to his companion and smiled. “Nice to meet you too, Adrian. Please don’t worry about the conversation, I don’t require you to be ‘stimulating’ right now. I just want someone to talk to. Being out on the road does make one rather lonely for other people’s voices.” The lanky youth paused and then spoke again. “So I gathered that you had some connection to this town? What brings you back here? That is, if you don’t mind telling me, of course.” The pair continued to walk through the streets that were graced by many ancient buildings and, as Trevor was beginning to realize, many ancient and decrepit looking people who doddered on by. |

Despite the current problems facing the village, mainly disruptions caused by the aftermath of the Demon Invasion and the fact it was beset by bandits, Tully Village looked exactly how Adrian remembered it. As the Take Over mage walked through the streets he played back the memories he had, visiting the store with his uncles, being fawned over by the residents when he was young and of course, the day he returned to discover his uncle was dead, but that was a memory better forgotten. Walking briskly through the streets one thing Adrian was glad to see was his old house, he had never sold it so he was grateful to see it standing and no worse for wear. Trevor disturbed the period of reminiscence like a drop of water in a pond, breaking the calm stillness of the surface, not that it would draw out any feelings of resentment or negativity. "Well alright I guess?" it was fairly difficult for Adrian to say more than that, after all how else do you respond to someone saying they were fine with a non-stimulating conversation? It was when the Take Over Mage was asked about a possible connection to Tully Village that Adrian was able to give a proper answer, after all it was a question which could only be answered in a definite manner. "I grew up here, made a lot of friends before I moved away" Adrian wouldn't say anything about why he moved away from Tully Village, it wasn't exactly a painless reason. Eventually the two mages would arrive at their destination, or at least where Adrian had been leading them. A small cottage with rose bushes, of various colours, awaited the mages and this was the house owned by the person who called Adrian back to the village, but why was the question. Adrian walked up the cobblestone patch to the ancient and old, but not decrepit or damaged, looking cottage and knocked firmly on the front door, standing up right with his back straight. Inside the house cluttering sounds could be heard, along with the chink of a tea cup and foot steps, which slowly grew louder as they approached the front door. The noise coming from inside the house had attracted Ozzy's attention, who stood up and squeaked and started at the front door. |

As Trevor walked through the village, he noticed that it was all rather lovely and quaint. It was a much softer place than the village where he’d grown up. Everything in the north was built thick and strong to protect against the heavy weather and the other dangers that lurked in the snow-covered mountains. Here things were gentler and more inviting. As they arrived at the cottage where Adrian had been summoned, the slim youth turned to his companion. “So where is this place? Who are we going to meet? I am guessing that your intention was to come here. Do pardon my questions but I ought to know how formal I should be. I want to be appropriate if I am going to accompany you into this house.” The noble young man was struck by the beauty of all of the roses and he inhaled their rich and warm scent as he waited outside with Adrian. He was excited for the next experience and hoped to soak up as much as he could by observing and trying to keep quiet |

Adrian waited patiently for the owner of the house to answer the door, which would probably take a few moments given how elderly the owner of this house was, which meant that Adrian had the time to answer Trevor's rather easy questions. "Um..what do you mean where is this place?..We are here?" Call Adrian stupid if you will, but the phrasing of Trevor's first question was very confusing indeed, however the other ones were easier to answer. "As for who..well they are...were a friend of my Grandfather's before he died. I never really knew them beyond names, but if my Grandfather trusted them..so do I" Honestly Adrian wasn't really sure how this meeting would go down. Eventually the door was opened by an elderly man with very little hair, said hair was as grey as grey could be in the few very sparse patches that remained. The elderly man smiled at the sight of Adrian, who he recognised back from the days Adrian had lived in Tully Village, apparently despite being twenty years old Adrian was still recognizable. "Adrian my boy! It's a wonder to see you again! Come in come in, and bring your friends! And those are some very exotic pets you have there!" And just like that, this old man returned into his house, gesturing for Adrian and Trevor to follow them. With an expression that could be described best as bashful, the Take Over Mage followed Theodore inside, taking a seat inside the lounge, which was filled with some very old antiques and antiquities. Now that Adrian was sitting down he removed Ozzy from atop his head and placed her down onto his lap, but of course she didn't stay there. Ozzy was a rather curious Ostrich and soon jumped off Adrian's lap, walking towards the edge of the couch and then jumping off, looking around the lounge and sniffing at things. This may seem like something that Adrian should stop, but he didn't and that was because Ozzy, despite being a simple child, knew better than to break anything, plus she wasn't exactly strong. Buzzles, the beetle, decided to just fly off Adrian's shoulder and land next to him on the couch, his antenna twitching as he buzzed a low hum like tune. Theodore was rather interested by both Ozzy and Buzzles, and so bent down to gently pat Ozzy on the head when she went to investigate the elderly man's chair. Trevor sometimes worded things oddly. He was used to speaking the Northern tongue and so he was occasionally caught out on the terms and phrases he used. He sighed a little and replied to Adrian. “I’m sorry for my imprecise language. I meant to ask about the significance of this location? However I think you’ve answered my questions in your response. This is the home of someone that you might properly consider a friend. That’s all I wanted to know, Adrian” There was a sense of warmth radiating from the elderly man who’d answered the door. He had an air of kindness about him that reminded Trevor of some of the elders from his own village although the man was distinctly different from his own grandfather. Trevor’s grandfather had been a stern, hard warrior who barely cracked a smile. Theodore was nothing like that at all. As they sat down in the comfortably cluttered drawing room, the lean young man let his keen blue eyes absorb the details of the space. It was so homey and comforting and utterly unlike the stone keep that he’d grown up in. It felt odd to think of a room as a place to put one at ease. Every room in the castle had been the opposite of calming. Trevor decided that he had better introduce himself to the old man so he stood up and bowed in his direction. “Pardon my rudeness, sir. I would like to introduce myself. My name is Trevor Purfoil. I have simply been accompanying Adrian here since we entered Tully Village. I appreciate your hospitality for letting me into your home.” As he had been taught, the young noble remained standing until he was addressed by Theodore. |
