The moment he heard the sounds, he knew they were trouble. Ari’s confirmation of their unwanted guests only made things worst. He was reminded that Ari was there and that she could get into trouble because of him. A low growl escaped his mouth as he began to think of a plan. For the time being, the only reason they were there to cause trouble was because of the brief case he held. That means he could very well take care of it on his own. Which, in turn, means he’ll have to cut short his time with Ari to keep her safe. Of course, he didn’t want to voice that one out since he had a feeling the other would make a fuss about being treated like a kid (which he was at the moment about to), so he decided to do it an inconspicuous way. “Ari, listen to me,” he whispered to her, switching into Nefas speech, “Think of this as a game. The fields stretches as far at the horizon is. When I count to three, let’s split. Run towards the north and keep going until you’ve found the hill with a crescent-shaped mouth.” He paused for a bit and glanced at her, showing a gentler expression. “Don’t worry, it’s just a game. Whoever reaches it first gets to direct the loser for a day.” Then, he loosened his hold around her as he faced her directly, “Are you ready? Three, two, one... go!” So he unwound his arm around he, and gave her a gentle nudge. At the same time, he turned on his heels and dashed into the smoke. He clashed his sword with an incoming weapon, though the smoke was making it hard to recognize the opponent’s appearance. He would then look back to make sure Ari was safe, and when he felt one of the opponents rushing towards her direction, he intercepted the blow with his own, parrying the sharp edge of the blade before kicking the assailant aside. He now became a shield for Ari’s escape, though he made sure to do it secretly as not to alarm her. All the while, he held the suit case intact. |

She listened to his instructions, knowing it eas important as he switched into Nefas and told her to run Northwards towards a crescent shaped place. She nodded her head. "Aye." she said before she allowed her take over form to fill her, her nails growing into claws as she used the speed boost it gave her to run north, her legs carrying her as fast as they could. She had to resist the urge to look back as she heard Rhevas fighting and she wanted to go back to help but she had a feeling that with her lower magic levels she would only hinder him. She kept running, her legs not feeling the burn yet as this was what she was born to do, to run like her ancestors had and she almost smiled at the sheer joy she felt with her hair whipping behind her and her tail keeping her from falling on her face. When she felt as if she had run far enough, she hit the brakes, looking around to see if she was bear to the crescent shape Rhevas had told her about and she noticed it out of the corner of her eye. She ran towards it and only then did she look back, hoping to whoever was listening that Rhevas was okay and that he had made it out without much trouble. She unsheethed her claws as she noticed a figure approaching and she growled, hoping that she looked intimidating. |

Rhevas kept his sense wary of Ari’s fleeing presence. He needed to make sure that she was safe. While doing so, he clashed with the unknown foes, parrying their strikes and delivering powerful counterstrikes of his own. Once, he heard the grunting voice of one of the assailants– clearly a man of heavier built to have sounded so deep and gruff– before he cut off his life shorter than expected. He smelled the scent of blood spray into the thick smoke as he spun around to strike at the enemy. Because of it, the attacks came less and less, and he knew he had the upper hand. He rushed towards another of the assailants, shoving him to the ground and piercing the man in the stomach. His pained gurgling voice signaled Rhevas that his dying moments were there and he had to be quick about it to learn the truth. “Who sent youz?” he asked the man, wriggling the sword still stuck in the man’s gut which made him scream in pain all the more. “Say iz!” Despite his wheezing and struggles, the man kept silent until his dying breath. Rhevas scoffed at the corpse as he withdrew his blade. He had thought a bit of threat would help, perhaps it didn’t work as much as it should. And by then, the smoke began to clear away and he could see the fields once again, and the clear blue sky. He looked at his left hand and was confident when he never once let go of the suit case. There was no marking, scratches or dents on it either, which was good. But something felt oddly off. Just then, he looked around at the diminishing smoke that was the start of the ambush. Only two bodies lay on the ground; two of which he killed for their impertinent try to attack him and Ari. He almost gasped at the thought. Perhaps there were more. Perhaps they had retreated when two of their men had fallen. Perhaps they went to chase after Ari to get a better advantage in this fight. Rhevas gritted his teeth and his hand that held the suitcase’s handle gripped tighter. He had thought that he had helped keep her safe, and in all honesty, he was planning to just kill all of the assailants there and then so that Ari would not have to worry. And yet, he may have just caused her more peril. So he quickly dashed towards where he directed her. Unknown to him and perhaps to Ari, two of the remaining assailants were closing in towards the rendezvous point. One was following the path Ari took, while the other circled over the crescent top of the hills’ opening, preparing to ambush her from behind. |

Ari Post She scented the air as her warning growl filled the air and she could scent someone in front of her that was not Rhevas. She had an oddly strong nemory for certain peoples scents and this one she did not know. She snarled as her training with Zeph began to kick in and she looked towards the person approaching her. "You picked the wrong cat to mess with" she growled as he charged her and she leaped out of the way before a hand caught her wrists and pulled her strongly against them. An ambush. Crap. She growled, attempting to break free of the mans grip before she had an idea. Even if it wouldn't do much, it could certainly distract. She brought her foot back and stepped down with as much force as she could and the man released her wrists. She would prove to Rhevas that she wasn't as delicate as she appeared to be. The two men looked at her slightly stunned as she grinned before she spoke. "Claw slash" she said as her claws began to glow and she ran at one of her attackers, running her claws down his arm. It didn't do a lot but it made him flinch. She grinned, jumping away from them as the other tried to catch her tail but she wrapped it around her waist so that he couldn't catch it. Training with Zeph had certainly helped her fighting skills. She looked at the other attacker as she felt something sharp cut her arm, making her hiss in pain but it wasn't unbearable. She would live. Please hurry Rhevas she thought as she turned her attention to the one with a weapon drawn. She didn't have a weapon on her and now, wished she hadn't left the dagger Zeph had given her at home. She inwardlt groaned at her stupidity before she caught the scent of Rhevas on the breeze. "Rhevas" she cried in Nefas as she felt the mans weapon against her neck. |

He wasn’t the heroic type, nor was he the endearing prince charming. He was plainly the possessive type. And the way these daring bastards had thought to harm someone he cared for was just enough to anger him so much he couldn’t care less about what happens to these humans. Humans... the word just earned another distasteful meaning after the years he had learned there were such people he could never trust and never learn to act merciful on. These assailants were just going to be another of his unworthy victims. He sped up as fast as he could and the first thing he saw was Ari already in a pinch. His anger swelled up inside him without warning and he lashed out a hand that pulled on one of his daggers and threw it to the man that held Ari. The dagger would pierce through the hand without fail. At the same time, he invoked the twin dagger’s ability, Bell’s Tactics instantly teleporting him to the thrown dagger, and he appeared right before the man whose hand was pierced. He pulled out the dagger and kicked the man upward before lashing out a whipping strike of his sword, that the sprayed the enemy’s blood. He had, for a moment, forgotten that Ari was there and he simply wanted the enemies to bathe in their blood in rage. And before the man he slashed had dropped to the ground, he turned to the side to find the other man releasing a dagger projectile at them. He caught it with his free hand as he then spun around before releasing the said dagger projectile of the enemy back to its source. It made a heinous cracking sound as it struck true at the latter’s neck, breaking it, piercing it, and sending the man crashing back to the ground when Rhevas had thrown with such immense strength. Before he knew it, the battle had ended, but he was still agitated. He kept a wary eye around him, before wiping the blood that sprayed on his cheeks. Only then did he glance at Arianna, whom he may have frightened just now. He tried to speak to her, but he stopped before he could. He merely looked away and started to walk opposite. “I’m sorry. You should leave. It’s dangerous to be with me,” he would say as he picked up his fallen twin dagger and kept it in its compartment behind his belt. “I’m not exactly a good guy.” All this he would say in common demon tongue before he started to walk away. She struggled against the mans grip before a flash appeared before hr and she gasped as she saw Rhevas appear from his dagger, taking down the man who had held her. She felt slightly afraid of him as he took down the two men but at the same time, it awed her, the awesome power he possessed and she stared in a daze until he seemed to notice her again. She smelled blood and she could see the stuff on his face. In allhonesty, he looked terrifying but at the same time, he looked powerful. She shook her head when he spoke to her, telling her that she should leave and that it wasn't safe to be around him. She narrowed her eyes at him, a retort on her lips as he told her he wasn't exactly a good guy and began to walk away. "You think I didn't know that when I asked to come along that it would be dangerous?" she called, annoyance welling up within her. She didn't care if he was a bad person at that moment because she cared about him, she felt something in him that was good and she would be damned if he let him convince her otherwise. She tore off across the fields after him and caught up, reaching out for him. "The only way I am going to get stronger is if I have my tail kicked a few times. I know that there is good in you, why do you think I would have felt a zap when our hands first touched. You're good Rhevas-Sama." she pled, gazing at him before she realized what she had just told him. She blushed, her cheeks flaming as she looked away. |

He was about to leave when he heard her response. It stilled him. He wanted to reply that indeed she knew nothing about the danger and the horror of possibly mingling with him. She may have demon’s blood, but she was still a toddler compared to the realities of the world. He had seen that as a fact ever since they first met, and he somehow understood the reasons why Zeph was protective of her. Though he may have asserted at first that he was suited for her, he was also quite worried. He had a Magus-killer on his trail, and all other things to worry about like this mission of his. So of course, she knew nothing. But then she caught up to him with a barrage of words he could barely contain and he was surprised that she ended it all with a rather embarrassing note. Well, he somehow felt her embarrassment near the end but he felt slightly better. No, it wasn’t better. It was admiration and he probably saw his former self in her. Even if he wanted to stop her from such a crazy idea, he knew it was the best offer. How else did he get stronger? No one looked out for him, so he grew up on his own and he had to survive by getting stronger. If he was not there; if Zeph was gone, who would be able to protect her than herself? He sighed but he squeezed in a smile as he faced her. “You’re a handful, you know that?” he said as he slowly raised a hand to brush her hair back before lightly caressing her cheeks. “You’re a strange one, I’ll give you that. Persistent, too. But I swear, you’ll only get hurt if you stay with me and even if meant you’ll grow stronger through the challenges, I doubt I can accept that. I don’t want to see you hurt. I don’t know why, but I just don’t.” He then reached out to hold her hand against his, reminding himself that unlike him, she was yet to be a full-fledge warrior of the world. Like a toddler, he mused, but he kept smiling nonetheless. A part of him was already yelling at himself for thinking of letting her go. If he didn’t hold on to her now, there will never be a next time. “Such a stubborn girl,” he uttered exasperatedly, glancing away as he noticed that he was turning beet red too. “We’ll be leaving the fields you love and came for if you still want to tag along, you know. Is that alright?” he would say, unconsciously holding her hand while already walking away from the scene of battle as if it was normal. “Also, if you’re ever scared, don’t hesitate to walk away. I’ll understand.” |

She allowed her magic to fall away, her claws disappearing as she looked up at him in surprise at his words. She blushed when he went to move a strand of hair ehind her ear and he caressed her cheek. She felt her heart flutter at his words but she tried to focus on amything but the warmth staining her cheeks crimson. She knew she was stubborn, as stubborn as her mother had been as well as determined. She had asked to tag along and she would stay until this mission was complete. She caught his smile at her and she couldn't help but be slightly puzzled by his words. Why would he care about her when they hardly knew each other. "I don't mind. Wherever you need to go I will follow." she said before he took her hand and began walking away in the direction they needed to go, telling her that if she got scared, she could always walk away and she quirked an eyebrow at him. "I've seen some scary things, Rhevas, I came nose to nose with a werewolf over the winter and yes it scared me but like you've pointed out, I'm stubborn. It takes more than a few bandits to scare me." she said, her eyes on him. She was stubborn but she didn't care. "So where do you have to deliver this to?" she askrd. |

He couldn’t help but grin at her words. Of course, a stubborn girl would never listen to his warnings. Despite all his best efforts to be protective, he soon realized that he would just lose in that battle. So he simply accepted her company for what it’s worth. Besides, even if he didn’t quite understand it correctly, he felt slightly strange when she was near him. Almost as if his heart was always racing. Not that he was left breathless, but that he needed to keep his mind on her. He tried not to smile cheesily since it made him look stupid, so instead he kept moving forward. “Magnolia. Apparently, this important package needs to reach someone over there, quick and safely,” Rhevas would say. For the first time, he felt like breaching protocols. He never thought of explaining his mission to anyone before. He always thought it was a solo-thing. Yet he was confident with Arianna that he thought it wouldn’t matter. “Don’t ask what’s in it, though. I hardly know the answer. But I’m certainly it’s nothing breakable, after all that wobbling and throwing and running. Yeah, certainly hope so.” He gave a chuckle at the thought that he might have actually broken whatever it was inside. Oh well, transporting was the mission, not carrying fragile things. Besides, with ambushers at a ready, he ought to whack them in the head with this suit case if needed be. “By the way,” he would come to say again, “What is all with this ‘zap’ thing you were talking about? Does it have something to do with an urge to want to kiss the other?” He was not teasing or anything. He was strictly and honestly being sincere about it. After all, he was raised by demons and had little people interaction about that particular incident. So he prodded the other as he neared her cheeks and whispered to her. “If that is what it was, I may have had that a while ago.” He then pulled away, letting go of her hand and giving her enough space to walk on her own. He knew better than to restrain a girl who was persistently stubborn and independent like her. More importantly though, he made sure to keep their surroundings safe by heightening his senses. If he felt any more presences around them along the way, he was certain he would unleash his demons without a care. And maybe indeed, he felt that same zap she did, because he never felt this want to protect someone before. Was meeting in Mizhou fate? Was meeting again in Trillium another sign? Who knows? |

Magnolia, one of the bigger cities in Fiore. She didn't mind a lot of people around it was just that she could feel tension beginning to mount within the cities whenever she was around. She laughed slightly at the thought that it could possibly be breakable and had to say something. "For your sake I hope it isn't." She felt her heart stutter when he asked about the zap she had mentioned before and she had honestly wished he had forgotten about it but apparently he hadn't and she looked down. She couldn't help the even brighter red that colored her cheeks when he asked if it had anything to do with the desire to kiss the person before saying that he may have felt it and she felt embarrassed at the fact that she had mentioned it. "It may be something like that. I just... I don't know what it is but I feel safe with you, don't ask why." she said, thankful when he released her hand to allow her to walk on her own. She looked away from him, her mind wandering away from their trip as they headed onwards to Magnolia to deliver the package and perhaps, after, they could sort this stuff out when they didn't have a mission to complete, or at least when he didn't have a mission to complete. |
