mission request Rhevas had just returned to his guild from a treasure hunt mission that went quite well. He just kept mum about having to meet a knight along the way. He was so sure how his guild would take it, after all, they weren’t exactly in good terms with the knights. Not that it mattered, really, since he never learned that Cyrus was a knight until at the very end, and he wasn’t accosted for being a dark mage as well. Then again, he did keep mum about being part of Grimoire Heart until they parted ways. It was better off that way. He just made a friend and would rather have their friendship as a good form of connection with the knights. And so, being triumphant in his first guild mission for Grimoire Heart, the clerk by the counter had thought it would be best to undertake an easier task this time around. He had only managed to finish his breakfast when the clerk had given him a request paper. A small package delivery mission from Trillium to Magnolia it would seem. He was a bit skeptical at first, but he figured it wouldn’t hurt to lay low. Perhaps part of being given a lax sort of mission was because he was getting too rowdy lately. “Be careful, Rhevas-kun,” the clerk waved at him, much to his chagrin. He didn’t understand a lot of Fiorean but he knew much that the added suffix to his name was a term of endearment meant for kids. So he left the guildhall without another word just to get this mission done and over with. He would then travel all the way to Trillium to meet with the requestor. He was cautious because he knew this was the turf of Raven Tail, a rival dark guild, which had been getting a lot of negative attentions lately. He preferred not to get caught up with anything troublesome from the get go, so he made sure to skip dillydallying as he proceeded towards his requestor’s house. As he arrived, he saw the mansion being securely protected by numerous men in black suit. Apparently, it was an important person to be able to hire such a stringent show of force. He was met by the gate, not allowed to enter the premises, before he was given the suitcase that had the package. “Remember, it arrives in Magnolia without anyone seeing what’s inside or taking it away. It’s an important item and I know your guild has the reputation to respect your client’s wishes as well as providing the quality we require.” one of the men in black suit said as he gave the suit case to Rhevas. “No problem,” Rhevas replied in his hard accent before turning round and proceeding to walk down the town of Trillium. |

note for grading Arianna watched as the Fiorean landscape passed by the window of the train and she sighed, resting her head against the glass. She was headed to Trillium for some sight seeing and to become more familiar with the area as this was one of the few places in Fiore she had not fully seen with her own eyes. She wasn't tired, far from it actually as this was the first time she had really spent alone with her thoughts in the past few months. A lot had happened to her in a few short months; she had gone to the north pole and helped take down some creatures that were causing problems as well as she had made new friends. She had been training with Zeph for a while now and he had given her a little time off to rejuvinate and rest and so, she had decided to do some sight seeing. As the train ride went on, she could not keep a certain dark haired mage from her mind. They shock that had come with a simple hand touch and she felt her cheeks involuntaroly blushing. She had to get him out of her mind. The train arrived in Trillium and Ari departed, heading towards Fuschia fields before a familiar scent caught her attention on the breeze. Rhevas, what was he doing in Trillium? She shook her head at the butterflies that suddenly fluttered in her stomach. What on earthlands was wrong with her? Against her better judgement, sh found herself following his scent until she just about ran into him but stopped herself by digging in her heals. Sh was wearing her regular attitre of black skirt, red shirt, and black heal-less boots as she looked up at him. "Rhevas-Sama, what a pleasant surprise." she said, switching into Nefas for him. As he walked down the road of Trillium, he was already assessing his next moves. He figured that the best way to avoid lurking eyes on him was to use a path less traveled. No doubt that saboteurs would have marked him already. Even if the client was very careful to keep the package safe, there would have been prying eyes during the handoff, especially since they were stupid enough not to let him in the mansion. And now he was beginning to get curious just what was inside the suit case. Nothing funny, he guessed as he could smell it if it was magically related. In any case, he was beginning to plot the map of his journey in his head, thanking all those nights of learning the landscape under the strict tutelage of a certain blonde Grimoire Heart mage. Though he doubt he would tell Ranth that he was grateful for his lessons, especially when the blonde knew how to annoy him as hell as well. And as he strolled past the main street of Trillium, he stopped as he sensed a familiar presence closing in. At first, he was suspicious at the incoming presence, thinking it was the danger as told by the client in his request. Whatever it was, he was ready to dish out his sword in the case that it was truly an enemy. But the closer it came, he stopped his hand from running towards the hilt of his collapsible sword that was tied to his side. This presence was becoming ever familiar and lovely that he felt grinning like a stupid man. He turned with mild surprise to find Arianna. Correction; it was a pleasant surprise. The female half-demon he had met in Mizhou was as fascinatingly charming as they first met, and he couldn’t help but smile at her presence. No doubt if he member of his guild saw him smiling like an idiot like this that he would never hear the end of their teasing back in the guildhall, but he didn’t mind. For the first time, he didn’t seem to mind at all. “Indeed,” he would reply in Nefas before switching in common demon tongue for her sake. “It’s alright. We can talk like this. It’s better and it’s less formal.” He glanced about for a moment, wondering if Zeph was around. “Are you on your own? Was that wise? Don’t you feel afraid?” |

She smiled up at him as he greeted her back before switching into a less formal dialect she was much more used to using, asking if she was on her own and whether it was safe for her to be doing so. She couldn't help the flush of her cheeks as he seemed to be concerned. "Aye, I did come on my own but it wasn't all that bad. Just a short train ride" she replied. She didn't know if she aught rto tell him the reason for coming here; to see the beautiful Fuschia fields she had heard about with her own eyea. She would never admit it but she was glad she had run into the other mage, thereas something different about him, she didn't know what it was but she knew that she had felt something when she had accepted his hand back in Mizou. Perhaps it was just her imagination. She sighed before her eyes caught sight of something he was holding. A briefcase. What could be in there? "What brings you to Trillium?" she asked softly, her smile never leaving er face. It was weird without Zeph around, that much she would admit, but perhaps it was better if she got a break from the demon trapped in a human body. He had pushed her hard in their training and she had bruises all along her arms and legs as proof but she was getting stronger, she could feel it. Her tail twitched, curiosity clear in her amber eyes. "Also, if I may ask, what is the briefcase for?" she asked, her curiosity getting the better of her and she blushed. |

He chuckled lightly at her response. “Not that bad? Well, you’re the lucky one, then. I’ve lost my way with the trains more than a few times. I stick to the roads now. A lot better. Easier to remember the geography as well.” A company for the journey was a good thing to have, though he wasn’t so sure if it would be wise to drag her along into his mission. He wasn’t exactly that enthusiastic about it either, so when she inquired about the package, he shrugged and replied as vaguely as he could, “Something.” He was grinning from ear to ear. He knew exactly those curious eyes of hers from experience. He, too, was a curious cat if he needed be. But he was very much concerned about her safety. This may look like a tad bit easy job, but only because his usual missions involved having to fend off monsters. Still, this mission required him having to transport an unknown package that was being targeted by a number of people. He can’t ask her to be in danger because of that. “It’s best you don’t know what’s inside,” he answered and placed the suit case on his other hand so as to be away from her prying eyes. “But never mind that. I was planning to head over to Magnolia through the fields. Less crowded, as usual.” He shrugged again as he scratched the back of his head, “I think you’re finding me weird for preferring the less populace place lately. But I do have reasons for it.” He suddenly paused as if his eyes caught something unwanted. His eyes, in fact, turned sharp as he reached out to hold her hand. He saw a scratch and a small fading bruise. “What happened?” he asked in his most dangerous tone, holding back the urge to growl, “Who did this?” He wasn’t like that always, but he always felt possessive about things he owned. Ranth had been self-proclaimed as his because the blonde mage somehow copied his magic and the idea that both he and Ranth could call upon the same demons made him accept the latter as his own personal pet, in some way. But Arianna was different. He just felt strangely attracted because she was firstly a demon, even if just half, and secondly, because he knew he could trust her unlike other humans. |

She nodded. She could understand if he didn't want to tell her what was in the briefcase, especially if he was on a mission. She hadn't realized he was in a guild. What guild was he in? Questions swirled around within her mind as she tried to answer them as best as she could. She felt the same shock as before when he took her small hand in his, seeming to have noticed the scratched and bruised skin thay was there and she blushed, trying to draw her hand away as her tail flicked from side to side. The way he had asked, the concern in his voice made her face flush. Why hadn't she thought to at least try to cover her arms with sleeves, she had received a few odd looks from people on the train and had to wonder if those looks were looks of glee at seeing her suffer or pity. "I was training with Zeph, nothing too hard, I am simply working on increasing my strength." she replied, slightly flustered. Not many had cared for her since her mothers disappearance and she had grown used to the judgement of others but Rhevas was different. She didn't know how but he was. She put on a smile before gently trying to pry her hand away. "Honestly, Rhevas-sama, I'm alright. Although if you're going through the fields, would you mind if maybe I tagged along?" she asked, her voice growing soft towards the end. Edited by AniJay, Jan 23 2015, 07:44 AM.

Rhevas kept a long steady gaze at her, trying to discern her answer. Even if it was training, he didn’t want her to get injured. He’ll have to talk to Zeph about that. But his mind stopped at that thought of his. Just who was he to even concern himself with others? Especially her, who was better acquainted with Zeph than he was to her. He may have pouted briefly at the thought that someone was closer to her than him, and he let go of her hand as he looked away, slightly forlorn. Oh but he reprimanded himself mentally. He was in a mission and he had to keep himself focused for what was to come, not dillydally in any way or form. Still, he chose to steal a glance at her and it was then that he knew he couldn’t really ignore her presence as much as he would want to. What was worse was that now he didn’t feel like wanting to leave her alone. With a low guttural sigh, he reached out and took her hand again into his. “I am, but if you’re coming along, then hold my hand. Don’t stray too far.” He would as he began to walk again, making sure he wasn’t walking too fast as to strain her, nor was he deliberately walking too slow. He made sure to just maintain a casual walking pace so that there would be nothing with that. “And I’m not treating you like a kid. I just don’t feel like it’s right to let go of your hand at the moment.” And yes, sometimes he could be frank and dense when he speaks his mind so freely. In demon culture, this is already a blatant display of possessiveness, but who was he to argue as he was raised to embrace such a culture? “You don’t have to call me in such a formal way, either.” By this time, they were reaching the end of Trillium, and from there, they would enter the fields just outside the city walls. Rhevas knew that once they were outside, they could be targeted so easily. But he wasn’t afraid. Perhaps, now that Ari was there, he would be a lot more focused in making certain the package wouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. That, and to make certain nothing unwanted would happen along the way. |

Ari post She gazed up at him for a moment as he released her hand and she was surprised when he reached for it again, agreeing to let her tag along but he insisted on keeping her hand in his. She sighed, feeling like she was being treated like a child until he said something that amazed her. He didn't want to let go of her hand. She twitched her ears, curious as to the reason why not. Was it possible he felt the same spark whenever they touched. Shaking her head, she smiled, simply enjoying herself as she walked along beside him. When he told her it wasn't necessary for the formalities she blushed. "Alright." she said, keeping her voice soft as she looked around them. As they came to the fields around the city, she looked around at the beautiful sights. The fuschia fields were even more amazing than what she had imagined. Flowers as far as the eye could see in the beautiful reddish pink hues. She closed her eyes, taking in the scents of the flowers and she suddenly sneezed, the pollen annoying her nose a little bit but she didn't really mind. She smiled. "It's even more amazing than I imagined it to be." she breathed. There were times when she would admit she was childish but she never really minded. "Thank you for letting me tag along." she said, looking up at Rhevas as an unexpected soft purr rumbled in her chest. She was happier than she thought she would be to be around him. She smiled, her cheeks flushing. |

Soon enough they had started along the Fuchsia Fields. The plain was said to go over the hill and farther still. It would be a long journey. He looked back one last time towards Trillium’s city gates as he felt suspicious about something. If the mission relied in having to keep the suit case safe until delivered, was there really such a need with such a peaceful beginning he was having in this journey? Maybe it was all just a ruse. The client simply wanted someone capable to do the delivery and perhaps just wanted to boast that he was able to call the attention of one of the dark guilds for it. If so, Rhevas had a feeling he might return here after the mission and beat the man black and blue. It was then when Ari had somehow purred that Rhevas quickly looked at her with a bemused expression. He had already caught on the idea that she was a Serval Cat demon, but he didn’t think she would actually purr like a cat. He grinned at the thought and resisted on the idea of raising a finger to her chin. He didn’t like cats. He hated them, to be honesty, and yet he was surprisingly resistive when it came to her. Perhaps it was because she was partly a demon, after all. But what little peace they had for a moment was suddenly broken when he noticed something fly. He quickly pulled Ari towards his chest, catching her by his other hand that held the suit case, quickly wrapping her in an embrace, while he now free hand had drawn his cromarian sword, flicking it to swivel open and reveal its blade as he swung it in the air to hit whatever it was he saw. The sound of metal clashing against metal resounded and he saw that the orb-like thing was cut in half, but the moment he did so, there was a sudden explosion of smoke. A smoke bomb? This was not a regular smoke, though, for he could smell the magic in its midst, the smoke darkening at each second, and then there were now presence around them. Rhevas grew serious at that instance and he kept his sword raised up while eyes tried to look past the smoke. Hopefully, it was nothing dangerous, else he would redefine what dangerous really meant if they tried anything to harm Ari that was with him at that moment. |

Ari post She looked up at Rhevas as he seemed to give her a bemused look and she quickly quit with the purring. She blushed, feeling self conscious at the fact that she had allowed herself to purr like that. Why on earthland had she purred? She didn't know what happened when suddenly he pulled her against his chest, the sound of a sword she did not know he had snapping into place as she felt her cheeks flush at the close contact. She looked up at him in confusion, wondering what was going on. The sound of metal against metal reached her ears as she looked up at Rhevas, sensing danger around them before she coughed, smoke filling the area. What was going on? "Rhevas? What's...." she trailed off as she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up and her tail fur fluffed up. Something, actually more accurately someone, was watching them. She tried to turn in Rhevas' embrace but he held fast, not letting her turn and she felt frustration at being helpless for the moment. She growled, knowing that they were in trouble as she tried again to at least turn in his embrace to see what they were up against. Her ears twitched as she picked up the sound of approaching footsteps, a few sets of footsteps actually and she growled low in her chest. "I can hear a few people approaching. Sounds like a small group, three or four people." she said, giving up on getting out of his embrace. Not that she could really complain much, he was warm but now was not the time for such thoughts. |
