It was a normal day in Belladonna for most. The streets were filled with activity and the usual shops and merchants selling their supposed high tech wares, the kids were doing their usual shenanigans, and the sun seemed almost perfectly placed in the morning for the sunlight to hit Belladonna entirely. The city, itself, was very alive and peaceful. There were elevators to reach different levels of the city, both higher and lower, and the usual market with forms of magitech showing the signs of the stores in bright and radiant colors. Even in the day the colors seemed to stand out from the sunlight of the later morning. It was 10AM, and the stores made sure the awakened travelers of the streets had their eyes on them instead of the more genuine/organization-built magitechs on the bigger buildings. A small research team, calling themselves team 'New World', invited one D Class mage from each guild to come and witness a spectacle that will change their views in life, and prove that Lamia Scale is the better guild. Obviously that last part was excluded, but the note DID say to bring one D Class mage to represent the guilds in this seemingly minor occasion. Along with the three mages invited was a small guard to make sure there wouldn't be any problems within the room, that guard was Miguel. He wasn't exactly known throughout the guild, but he was strong enough to warrant some amount of respect. In this case they knew he was strong enough to make sure that the mages sent from Fairy Tail and Quatro Cerberus don't destroy their very fragile equipment. Blue Pegasus isn't usually a problem, since most of them aren't interested in Magitech. Miguel woke up early that morning, showered, ate, and walked over to the research section of the guild where the library is located. Miguel made sure to make a few quick turns, up a staircase or two, and instinctively walked inside an already opened door with three smaller men, the tallest being about 5'6", working on a portal machine. The object was circular, and in the middle of the room with large thick wires connecting it to the walls of the small-ish room. The heat from the room blasted Miguel in the face the second he walked inside. He covered his face with his sleeve as he walked inside, the heat was definitely coming from the machine. "Is it always this hot in here?" Miguel asked with a smile, showing that it was a light joke. "Our shirts and pants are MADE to absorb sweat and use it to cool us off, what do you think?" The man said half-jokingly, Miguel thought it was a good joke until he smelled what he quickly figured out was Body Odour. Miguel covered his nose with his sleeve and walked up to the portion where the men were not clustered around, which was right next to the entrance where all of the wires and gadgets were not located. They specifically made that spot, it seemed, for the guests. At around 9:55AM a head popped into the room with a very genuine smile, more genuine then Miguel's (surprisingly). ![]() "Hello, is this the room with team 'New World'? I was put down here by Fairy Tail to represent them in this. I consider it an honor to represent the guild." |

Inara had been given the letter by the Guild Master not that long ago, saying she needed to go to Belladonna and subsequently lamia scale for the New World team introduction to some of their magitech. She had revisited at first, asking if there wasn't some other mage they could send. Belladonna was one of the few cities in Fiore she didn't know all that well. She didn't look forward to going, but she would do so in the end. No, no one else could go. Yes it had to be her. So she gathered her things and set out from Quatro Cerberus for Belladonna. The train ride from Tessera hadn't taken long, and she had kept packing to a minimum. They wanted her to bring back information, and since she was one o the few mages of lower rank who they felt they could trust, she was to gather as much information as possible. It was why they had sent her, and she could hardly say no to them placing their trust in her. The truth of the matter was, they were worried about what LS might be cooking up. Magitech was all well and good, but they worried that one day a line might be crossed that should not be. So, she needed to find out how close to that line the mages currently were, and report back. No problem, she thought half sarcastically. She disembarked in Belladonna about 8 in the morning. She had to buy a map to find the Guild, though it was clearly marked, thankfully. She spent about an hour finding breakfast and politely telling people variations of "no I don't need that. Thanks." She sighed. So many pushy peddlers here. What interest had she in such things? None. That's what. She walked quickly and quietly after finally finding a small cafe in a hidden corner of the city which sold basic food. Pancakes and coffee and she was off again. She finally made it within the Guild, and was directed to the Library, where the experiment or whatever was set to happen. She knocked before entering, finding a few people already standing around and a weirdly putrid smell permeating the air. It smelled a bit like dead skunk. She drew out a handkerchief from her belt, scented with rosewater. "I am Inara Serra, here from Quatro Cerberus," she said with a delicate sniff to the handkerchief. "Is this where we are meant to meet?" she asked of the first person she saw; a white haired mage with purple eyes. |

Then a sound emanated from the door. Miguel peaked to find a man with spiky red hair and an eye-patch representing Fairy Tail for this occasion. It was completely expected, since the guild is full of ruffians that break things while still maintaining a 'light guild' attitude. They were usually like the nice guys that were clumsy at their jobs. The man didn't seem clumsy though, since he found this place early and he didn't complain which meant it probably wasn't much of a difficulty. Miguel nodded at him and smiled back, taking out his hand to shake the red haired man's. "I'm Miguel, a C Class mage of Lamia Scale. I'm here to view the portal with you and the other members of the other guilds. Don't mind me too much, I'm just curious." Miguel couldn't tell them that he was here to babysit, or it would mean that Lamia Scale could look like they didn't trust the other guilds. However, a person that just wants to watch the experiment can't be bothered. "I see, it must be something interesting then! I'll be right here, breathing through my mouth. Also, call me Law, or Light, depending." Shortly after him, about three minutes, was a woman with black hair and a white modern dress. She looked shy, but nobody would doubt her beauty. She was also the stereotypical Blue Pegasus mage, except she wasn't as snobby as most rumors would suggest. "Um.. hi, is this the room with the.. you know.. experiment? Team New World?" She stood on the entrance of the doorway, smiling slightly while trying her best to maintain her composure, and pulled a small part of her hair back. ![]() The Fairy Tail mage looked at her and whistled. "Wow, they weren't kidding about the beauties in Blue Pegasus." Miguel snickered slightly and walked up to the girl. "This is the right room, I am Miguel and will be watching this with you." She smiled and nodded, walking past Miguel and next to the other mage whom she immediately assumed was from Fairy Tail, since he didn't look scary like the mercenaries in Quatro Cerberus. Not even a few minutes later another woman shows herself, a blonde that was average in height but very pretty compared to the majority of women. She walked in with a white dress. The woman then said that she was Inara Sera, a mage from Quatro Cerberus. The group looked at her. Not just Miguel, the entire group. Law and the girl from Blue Pegasus were both behind Miguel and their heads looked at her from Miguel's sides. It looked like they were hiding behind the Lamia Scale mage. She asked if this was the correct area. "Yes, this is where the 'New World' team is creating their new and unique invention. If you don't mind my asking, are you an impostor from a dark guild?" Miguel said this as a light humor of sorts, but the Fairy Tail mage behind Miguel also put a comment in. "I was expecting this huge man, or a woman with a giant sword or something. Just, you know, the mercenary looking type that kills for money or something." Miguel sighed, taking his hand out for a handshake. "All jokes aside, welcome." Miguel pulled up his long black sleeves to shake her hand, showing her his guild tattoo on his right wrist, then went back inside the powerful scent in the room and put his back against the wall. The men were putting some small quirks on the machine, all of them looked like they were adjusting screws and connecting wires to the wall. The taller of the men, with black hair and thick square glasses, talked to the group while he connected the wires to the wall. "Don't you mages worry, I'll blow all of your minds when I finish adjusting everything in this machine." While he said that Miguel walked to Inara, because the Fairy Tail mage was already whispering things into the Blue Pegasus mage's ear. He did not want to be a part of that awkward situation, especially since she was blushing. "Sorry about the stench. It's hot in here, and their shirts use sweat to cool off... probably not their best invention." Edited by THE Cat, Dec 6 2014, 02:00 AM.

Inara smiled, her face the picture of sweetness. She couldn't imagine why everyone seemed to be hiding from her. Until the mage from FT spoke up. She laughed a little at both him and Miguel. "Oh heavens no. I'm just more at home in QC. Not all of it is about being mercenary you know." She grinned, and shook Miguel's hand. His guild Mark was plainly visible, and she turned for a moment, moving her hair out of the way so her own was clearly visible on her shoulderblade. "Just in case you needed conformation." She turned back then, the smell of the room still overpowering. "I have extra handkerchiefs if anyone needs the smell covered up." With that she moved into position, listening as the next mage, one of the ones who seemed to be setting up the experiment, started shouting a litany of curses. Apparently, something wasn't quite going to plan. She raised an eyebrow. "Has he been.doing that the whole time?" She asked the others. She didn't think this was how experiments worked. At least not in her limited experience. It was only a few seconds later when one of the men came over, his sweatiness nearly gagging her. She didn't much like their "sweat suits." She didn't know how they could stand to smell themselves in all honesty. "I'm sorry folks, we need you al to step out for like an hour while Chuck over there works out one minor kink in the wiring. We transported this thing from upstairs and one of his negatives touched a negative, and so we need just a little bit to get everything back in working order. So, Miguel, if you would ,please escort our guests to the cafeteria for some brunch? That should give us enough time." Inara didn't think she had ever heard sweeter words in her life. She couldn't wait to leave the room (and the cloying smell,) behind. As they stepped into the hall she took a deep breath and smiled at the other three. "So, where is the cafeteria?" |

Words never sounded so sweet. When they asked Miguel to show the guests to the cafeteria Miguel nodded and walked out of the room, breathing in the most his lungs could possibly muster before exhaling and leaning against the wall farthest from the room and out of the doorway's range of stink. Miguel looked at the three whom likely followed him out here just as Miguel walked out. Law didn't look very fazed, probably because he was used to things like that back in his guild. They are ruffians after all. The girl, in the other hand, was on the floor with her head up. Her knees felt weak from the stench and a few tears found themselves gently streaming down her cheek. Her eyes were watery. Inara asked about the location of the cafeteria. "The cafeteria is in-" "My pants." Miguel looked at the end of the hallway, suddenly, and found his black talking cat, Neko, with a collar around his neck that had bells on it that didn't ring. The cat had purple eyes, and a very mischievous glee while looking at Miguel. "You know, I don't usually cheat on Natora, my wifu, but I will be happy to grab one of these two honeys and-" "NEKO!" "-casually invite them to dinner, my treat of course." Neko smiled, widely, which gave Miguel an uneasy feeling. He immediately searched his pants, but found no bump on them to show his wallet was inside of them. He sighed. The black cat probably had his wallet, along with all of his finances from the past barrage of missions. Miguel was making good money, but at the cost of his social life. Neko walked down the hall and Miguel followed behind him, signalling for the other three to follow. The woman with dark brown hair smiled and blushed when she saw the adorable black talking kitten with a man's voice, kittens couldn't possibly be bad, after all. Miguel soon realized that Neko didn't intend to eat inside the guild, where the food was free, he actually walked straight into an elevator for the lower levels of the city that was located near the guild and past the markets. Miguel walked in with Neko, expecting the others to follow, and the elevator suddenly whooshed down. In a few seconds the capsule they were in was in ground level, where all the crime was in the city.. and some of the more important establishments in some cases. The city under the city had a very good restaurant, after all. When they stopped it was in front of a seemingly normal looking store, but when a customer left through the doors the smell of spices overwhelmed the senses. It smelled like chicken, beeforoni, and even soup in the air. It was mouthwatering to Miguel and Neko, and Law. The woman from Blue Pegasus looked at the foods around and frowned, "Is there.. any vegetables here? I'm a vegetarian.." As if on cue a man with an apron and a chefs hat walked up to the two and patted the woman on the back, she couldn't help but skip to the nearest open table with the force the big man with a mustache put into his 'pat'. The others, especially Miguel, found their ways to the table. "Whatdya talkin' abouta, I gotsa almost everytinga overr herea!" Miguel smiled, and whispered to everyone "Order cheap.." Neko's ears twitched, "WHAT WAS THAT MIGUEL?! ARE YOU SO POOR THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN PAY FOR THESE NICE PEOPLE AND THEIR FOOD?! THEY TRAVELLED HERE FROM SO FAR, AWAY FROM THEIR HOMES, AND FAMILIES, BECAUSE OF YOUR INDIRECT REQUEST ok not really but still I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE SO INSENSITIVE!!!" Miguel's left temple grew and he slammed his hand on the table, yelling back at Neko, "ORDER WHAT YOU GUYS WANT, I'M PAYING!!" "YEAH!" "ORDER EVERYTHING YOU WANT!" "YEAH!" "NEKO ISN'T GETTING ANYTHING MORE THEN TUNA THOUGH" "YE- WAIT WAT" Law was already ordering everything he could, apparently he had a VERY big stomach, to the point where he ordered an entire large pizza just for him, and those pizzas cost about three times as much as the usual pizzas. He ordered three sides just for him, and a 2 liter bottle of rum just for him. The woman from Blue Pegasus ordered the Lobster, which actually equalled what Law ordered, until she asked for some caviar on the side. So far the bill was high, and Miguel's wallet was decreasing in weight the longer they ordered it seemed. Good thing he had so much money saved. |

Inara looked askance at the girl on the ground. She had no idea people with such weak stomachs were actually still around. Poor thing. Inara offered her a hand yo even as Miguel started to answer her. And then, oh the best thing. Her eyes rounded as she saw the black cat at the end of the hallway. What he said was slightly rude of course, but that didn't matter. It was small, and fluffy, and she wanted to pet it. Her fingers twitched to do just that. She didn't react much at the interchange between owner and cat. She had ready drawn lite hearts around Neko in her mind and she wouldn't be happy until she could pet him. Maybe give him some catnip she carried in a pouch (well sealed of course) for just such rare occasions. She may have giggled a little when Neko finished his sentence. He had called her honey! He could talk! She would make him her friend! >:D She followed Miguel and the other to the elevator which took them to a speedier part of town. She didn't mind that, and the smells coming from the restaurant made her mouth water. She looked at the girl from BP as she spoke again, wondering how the girl managed to go anywhere she was scared of smells and new things. She didn't say so though. Instead she took a seat at the table with everyone else, merely raising an eyebrow t the antics presented to her. She laughed as Neko was told he would only get one tuna, and suddenly she had found her in. Glancing at the other two mages, who were ignoring common courtesy and ordering the most expensive things on the menu, she dug her elbow into the ribs of the girl sitting beside her. "I thought you were a vegetarian? Lobsters and caviar are not vegetables. Also, why don't we all pay for our own? It's only polite after all." She said it in a cutting tone, while tolling her eyes at the other two. She smiled at Miguel, and ordered herself a small portion of fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, as well as a glass of white wine. "And please bring a salmon, the largest you have for the kitty." She smiled at Neko. The other two quickly changed their orders, though they were less than pleased with the change. "Really Law," she said with a roll of her eyes. "A whole gallon of rum would only get you into trouble." She smiled at the table at large. Two of them were looking at her with something between anger (for taking their free meal) and utter fear, (for the guild she represented.) "So. Why don't we all say a few things about ourselves? What out magic is, for instance." |

The woman from BP nodded, albeit a little confused. Apparently Inara, the mage from Quatro Cerberus, explained to her that lobsters were not for vegetarians. She thought about it for a moment then spoke in a confused yet reassured tone, "Well, creepy things deserve to die, so eating them ensures that they will perish! I am only contributing to things that are cute!!" She nodded, then took out her purse to pay for her things. She was rich after all, and she did not want to find out why the mage from Quatro Cerberus chose the darkest of the light guilds instead of the other ones. Law, on the other hand, picked his ear while Ina spoke and gave the big man his menu, he wasn't about to turn down a free meal by ANYONE. Miguel, seeing this, sighed and gave the big man his order. "I'd like a steak, probably H Bone, with double mash as sides, gravy, and some steak sauce. I'd also like you to bring the group two liters of coke for us to drink." The big man then heard the blonde tell him to give the black talking cat the biggest tuna fish he had, which had the black cat smirk widely. The big man rubbed his hands together and made a big smile, "Well certainly, my lady. I'll be right back with all of your orders. Please accept these appetizers free with your 15,000J or more purchase; they're breadsticks with the finest butter in the building. Enjoy." Miguel's mouth opened, then the woman from Blue Pegasus raised her hand. "Please exclude my payment from there! And Inara's! She's the blonde next to me." The big man nodded and looked at Inara, "For you it's.. 900 Jewels. And for you, green eyes, it's.. 7,000,000 Jewels! For the God's Crab and the Lord's Caviar. Our best combo for.. 'critter haters'." She smiled and clapped, blushing at the thought of eating them. Miguel sighed, at least now he only had an above average expensive dish. While the waiter left Ina asked the group to say something about themselves. The first to speak was the guy from Fairy Tail. "Name's Law, you can call me Light. I'm a light elementalist, and a good one. My dream is to become an S Class mage and surpass the boss in Fairy Tail, then have a family afterwards. I'm 24, and my favorite food is Pizza, favorite drink is.. Rum. I like punching things to the ground, and saving lives. I am a little clumsy, though, which is why I am one of the many mages in Fairy Tail that destroy objects around them without meaning too." While he waited for the others to digest the information he kicked the girl in front of him to talk, which was the woman from Blue Pegasus. She let out a small 'ugh' before she started to talk as well.. although not nearly as detailed as the Fairy Tail mage. She even blushed, since she's not used to telling others about herself. "My name is Ella.. and my magic is teleportation. I want to.. become the strongest female mage in the world.. and um.." By this point she was as red as a tomato and she put her head down. The steam from her head moved to the ceiling. Miguel opened his mouth, but was interrupted by Neko. "I AM THE SPAWN OF THE DEVIL! THE RULER OF MORTALS! THE CARETAKER OF MANY AND THE ENEMY TO ALL, I AM-" "Not getting any Tuna if you keep talking." "-SHUTTING UP NOW!" When the silence finally made its way to the group Miguel started to talk. "I'm Miguel Alphonse, I'm a smoke mage from Lamia Scale. I plan to get a family eventually, other then that I don't have many goals. I do enjoy sweets, especially flan." Miguel then waited for Ina to share about herself. |

Inara was disappointed in Law, and made a mumbled comment about the vegetarian's reasons being "absolute crap and nonsense.." but otherwise she didn't say much as the people went around the table, telling about themselves. She smiled at Ella, though her brows were high at the girl's seeming vanity. Law's magic and seeking honesty made her smile. Light for the light guild. She laughed outright at Neko, still that itch to pet him prominent. Miguel was of a different ilk, she thought. Smoke mage was an interesting one no doubt. Then it was her turn. "As I said, I am Inara. I am a take over mage, but my magic is based plant and nature magic." Ella in particular looked a bit confused by this. She sighed. "I turn into a walking tree." That brought a look of semi-understanding to their faces. After that the table became silent for a bit as they waited on their food. Inara paid for her own as the man brought the trays back, and she smiled. A single bite of the pasta she had ordered (eaten in a dainty, lady like fashion) and she grinned at the chef. "My compliments. This is perfectly cooked." She ate quietly, even as the biggest, freshest, pinkest salmon ever was set between her and Neko, pretty much stinking up the whole table. "Oh Neko. If you would like you can have this. If you let me pet you." She said it with a gentle smile, but her hands were fidgeting in her lap. "The whole thing." She coaxed. Really, she just wanted to pet the kitty. But she didn't mind the money she had to pay to do so. While she waited she ate a little more. "How long have you been with LS Miguel? And what can you tell us about New world and their experiment?" Seemed like a good time to gather information. |

Apparently the mage from Quatro Cerberus was a plant mage of sorts, more precisely a plant take over mage. She had the ability to turn into a walking tree. Since she only mentioned one summon that usually meant that she had magic outside of her form, Miguel could only assume it had something to do with trees. Neko, on the other hand, was too busy contemplating the deal that Inara had given him.. or more like pretending to contemplate. He was going to be pet by a pretty woman AND get free tuna? What is there to think about. After a 'hmm' with his tail carefully placed under his chin to give others the impression that he was thinking about it, he 'reluctantly' agreed. He jumped over the table, on Ina's lap, and started to chew on the tuna in his mouth. The cat was strong enough to lift the tuna up with his fangs. He nomed on the fish like this were his last meal. Law was eating his pizzas much faster then Neko, while Ella was taking her time. The two really were opposites. Meanwhile Miguel tried to answer the apparent plant mages questions. "I've been in Lamia Scale for two years, roughly. I'm technically one of the stronger mages in the guild, but not nearly strong enough to make a name for myself." Miguel thought about the destructive power he saw in the boscan war, he was miles away from their strength. Then he answered Ina's last question, which seemed like the more important one since everyone came here for that invention. "Well, they're making a teleportation machine, but it isn't to travel distances; it's to travel through worlds. They haven't had it work for months though, and they've said before that they're almost done. They've never had other mages show up for the invention though, which means they must be cert-" In that moment the four heard a voice in their heads, it was the sound of the researcher from before. "We're ready for you guys! Hurry up before the machine cools down!" Neko ate all of his tuna then jumped off Ina's lap and ran to the nearest elevator. Miguel sighed and stood up, he walked behind the cat along with the other two mages behind Miguel. Before they knew it they were back in the guild with the three nerds in front of them. Neko took three steps in the hallway connected to the hallway connected to the stairs connected to the third floor connected to the hallway with the nerds, and he smelled the sweat again. After eating his stomach couldn't hold all of his food in; if he walked in there he'd surely lose his lunch. Neko waved at Miguel with his tail. "I'll be in the room, don't die of suffocation. If you die cuz of sweat I will laugh on your grave." Neko enjoyed being pet by Inara, but there was nothing that would keep him within smelling distance of that room, which is in his case a looong distance. Miguel walked through the long maze, asking the mages questions. "So, how long have you guys been mages in your guilds?" Miguel wanted to hear the answer from the Cerberus mage the most, since she seemed like the most interesting of the three so far. She seemed more commanding, and completely unlike the rumors of Quatro Cerberus until this point. Upon reaching the room the men were tinkering with the machine. The lead scientist stepped forward with his wrench still in hand. "FINALLY! TODAY WE WILL CREATE THE UNFATHOMABLE! WE SHALL UNITE TWO DIMENSIONS THROUGH A DOOR THAT CAN BE OPENED THROUGH A SPECIFIC KEY, WE SHALL OPEN THIS PORTAL NOW!" The other scientists got read, all of them were smiling and holding on to their wrenches and cables. It seemed like they were making sure nothing would lose itself when it was activated. |

Inara ran her hands over Neko's fur, enjoying the sensation beneath her fingertips. She was more than happy to pet the cat with one hand and eat quietly with the other. She stopped chewing when Miguel answered her last question though. This was indeed something her betters at QC would want to know about. This was one of those lines which should not be crossed. She hoped fervently that this would be another misfire, and she would have time to let the right people know what was begin attempted. She sighed when the summons came and Neko jumped away. She needed a cat. Or some sort of pet,she thought absently. They all moved toward the elevators, none of them really in all that much of a hurry to return to the room of disgusting smells. Neko made a quick departure, and Miguel asked another question. Inara spoke first, her hands inside her sleeves and her cloak pulled tightly about her. It was chilly in the first part of the guild. "Oh not long really. Nearly a year, and only two full missions at my rank under my belt. I'm not all that important as far as guild members go really." She gave a.shrug, knowing she spoke the truth. She wasn't immune to the fact she had probably been sent here because she was as yet dispensable. Just another no name pawn. She was impressed he was C class to be honest. It was something she was stringing hard to achieve herself. For the moment she was close and yet far away from that goal, though she knew she was growing stronger as time passed. And she loved her guild dearly, that wouldn't change. She just felt she was close to changing a little herself, and not necessarily in a good way. She had some growing up to do yet, she thought. The smell of the room was easily detected in the hallway just outside the door, and Inara readied her handkerchief again. She couldn't really believe none of them had thought that eating before coming back in here might not be the best of plans. She sighed and walked winter Miguel. The three who made up team new world, now aptly named in her mind, were beaming. They made a small announcement and then someone threw the switch again. There was a sputter, and then spark.. for a moment nothing happened at all. And then.. the room was filled with a bright burning blue light, and a vortex began to take shape at the center of it. Inara started to step away, and she heard vague shouts from those around her. But she found, almost immediately, that she could not step away, but was being dragged ever forward, ever toward the light. |
