Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Sarcasm. Because beating the shit out of people is illegal.

Ranth sat alone in a dark room as a prerecorded voice played through unseen speakers. "Your target is Haley Rhodes. Born in belladonna and renowned for her groundbreaking research on the application of lacryma in medicine. Recently, one of our agents sent word that she found a way to synthesise a serum using lacyma as a base that shows promising results in being able to heal, repair and even replace parts of the human body. Grimoire Heart is very interested in this breakthrough as it... overlaps with some of our own projects. Find Haley Rhodes and bring her to us alive by any means necessary.

Ranth waited patiently for any more information and several seconds later, he was rewarded for his patience. "We've received word that there are other organisations with their own designs for the target. Ensure that you find her first. That is all" The recording ended and the lights in the room turned back on to reveal Ranth and the table he sat at, complete with a manila colored folder within which was a dossier of all the information the guild had on Haley Rhodes as well as a summary of her research. On the first page was a picture which showed a woman in her twenties with long blonde hair and blue eyes.

She was attractive and yet at the same time not, it was tricky to put it into words, but there was something about her that just didn't tickle his fancy. But at the very least, she didn't look at all threatening and so that would make his job relatively simple... as long as he got to her first. The downside was that if someone else managed to get to her before he did, then they'd likely have little trouble in whisking her away for their own nasty purposes... not that he though Grimoire Heart were going to send her away for a tropical vacation. But better the devil you know than the devil you don't. Now, he had a date with trillium and he didn't have time to waste...

* * * * *

Ranth stepped off the train from Acacia at exactly 1:08pm amidst a throng of other travelers. Some were tourists, others were locals and the vast majority looked like they had somewhere to be as the crush of the crowd carried him along the platform and spat him out at the entrance. His first destination was the Trillium center of Research and Development. According to her file, that was where Ms. Rhodes worked and if she wasn't there, then he'd go on to visit her apartment next. With any luck, this would be as simple as knocking he rout and putting her in the back of a wagon back to Acacia. Though sadly, nothing was ever simple when it came to guild business in Ranth's experience.

A man slid a picture forward and waited. The person in picture was a beauty; blonde, small-framed saved for the double Ds, and fashionable. Ryan took the picture and smirked, "Not a bad choice... Picking her up will be a walk in the park but getting her off me will be easier said than done."

"...No... I'm not asking for a blind date," the man pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a long sigh. "This girl... We need this girl for a couple of... secret things if you catch my drift. She has discovered a way to restore any human parts back to its original state in an amount of time many of us once thought was impossible. Crippled limbs, lost limbs back as if they were never harmed in the first place. Of course, word of this has spread so we're not the only ones looking for her. Other guilds and organizations are keeping tabs on her and making their moves as we speak. Do you understand how important it is that you capture her? Failure is not an option."

The hunter stared more intently on the picture. Was he serious? A girl? A girl figured out something that could innovate the world? It'll be hard getting to her but he couldn't help but wonder what kind of face she'll make when this little farce is over; the harder it is to gain their trust, the better the reaction is when he turns his back on them. Sadly, the mission meant that she would have to be kept alive but it didn't mean he couldn't toy around with her right? Plus, it could make the girl spill out all the information she had about her development in medical research much more easy with some toture. He kept that thought to himself as he wasn't sure about the reaction he'd get from the fat man sitting down.

"Of course not," Ryan wrote down the address of her work and apartment on the back of the picture along with a couple interests and footnotes. He slipped the picture into his pocket along with the train ticket."After all, a true hunter never returns empty handed," he said over his back as he left the room and set out for the 12 o'clock train. Should there be no delays, he'll be able to get there by the next hour and have enough time to run into her at the diner she should be eating at and make his moves there.

Approaching the building within which his target worked, Ranth could see a short series of wide marble steps led to a thick set of double doors. These looked to be made of some variety of oak or another and the doors was affixed with polished silver handles, which Ranth grasped firmly upon climbing the stairs. he then proceeded to push the right side door open and crossing the threshold to the room within in a single fluid motion. The interior of the room was spacious- absurdly so. The ceiling was so high Ranth could have thrown a rock at it and fallen short, while the room itself was furnished with polished stone floors that Ranth could almost see his reflection in. Both sides of the room were lined with dozens of doors, above each of which was a shiny golden plaque with the name of part of the city engraved upon it. Even as he watched, doors opened and closed as people came and went and through each door, Ranth could glimpse parts of the city that were easily twenty minutes away on foot. It was a modern marvel, but then again, this was Trillium he had to remind himself.

Now having been inside the building for a good thirty seconds, a low pitched whirring sound drew Ranth's eyes away from the doors and towards silver metallic sphere the size of a basketball floating towards him. As it came within arms reach, the metallic surface slid back to reveal a glass panel from which a holograph of a middle aged man was projected so as to stand before him. "State your query", the man said, although the sound came from the floating sphere behind him.

"Er... I'm looking for someone who works here", Ranth replied uncertainly- never having seen anything what he was seeing now before in his life.
"State your search criteria", the man responded robotically and it took Ranth a moment to realise that he was supposed to give the man the name of the person he was looking for. "Haley Rhodes", he said carefully and waited with bated breath as the man went silent- presumably searching through the database for a match. After the longest ten seconds of Ranth's life, the man spoke, but they were not words he wanted to hear. "No results match your criteria. Haley Rhodes is not in the building. Would you like to enter new criteria?"

"No...", Ranth sighed and the holographic man vanished as the metallic sphere shut and floated away to help someone else with another query. Alright, so the target wasn't at work, was it her day off? Was she on a lunch break? Checking his watch, which read 2:28pm, he determined that it was too late in the day for a lunch break and too early in the day for her to have finished if she had a shift. That could only mean that today she had a day off and so the next logical place to look would be her apartment, which according to her file was located on Frey street which was approximately twenty minutes away on foot. With no reason to delay, Ranth left the building and began his inexorable march to his next destination.

Cladded in white blouse and black dress pants, Ryan stepped out of the train looking as classy as ever. He straightened his loose tie that had become messy in the claustrophobic train and checked the time. Despite one dumb delay, the train arrived at Trillium at the appropriate time which gave him exactly an hour to proceed to the next step without change to the schedule.

Honestly, Ryan couldn't help but feel a little disheartened that he had to find this girl when there were a thousand of other girls that were flocking around him. Couldn't he just pick up one them and have his way with them? It just wasn't fair but he would carry out his mission to the end; never keep your eye off your prey, not even for a second otherwise someone else might come along and take it for themselves. At the very least, he gave his fans a polite smile and wave before he picked his pace and left them in the dark for now. Once his job has been completed he'll come back and grab ahold of one of them.

Half an hour of avoiding girls later, he reached the diner that the intel said she would be at for lunch. The building next to the diner was noted to be where she lived so he expected her to either come from there or from the other side where she worked. He waited around the area, waiting for her to show up. Five minutes later, Haley Rhodes came around the corner and made a beeline for the door with Ryan following her closely from behind. The two of them reached for the handle simultaneously, getting in each other's way. "Oh! I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there! Here, you go first," Ryan put up his nice-guy act and held the door open for her.

"N... Thanks," his prey said flatly at him and walked in.

The room was warm and welcoming and lightly packed with customers, but there was no time to observe his surroundings with his target in sight. With a quick look at the menu, he ordered his lunch and by a stroke of chance, was pushed and shoved on to the girl by a couple of impatient customers. "Sorry..." he apologized once more. "I don't reall this place being as crowded as it is now..." He lied, hoping to catch some small talk with her.

"It's been like this for a while," she sighed as if she was tired of talking to him. She grabbed her take-out and left in a hurry, leaving him behind.

Ryan bit his tongue as he impatiently waited for his as his target was slowly escaping from him. A few seconds later, the damn chef presented his and like a bullet, he grabbed it and shot out of the room. His eyes looked left and right to catch a glimpse of where Haley ran off to. He expected her to play hard to get but this was presenting itself to be more of a challenge. The only places he could think of that she'd be now would be at her apartment or office; seeing that the former was much closer, he decided to head there first.

Ranth made it to Elm Street without any hassles and the apartment complex which Miss Rhodes lived in was equally easy to spot thanks to the fact that it was the only apartment complex in the area. The exterior of the building was quite modern, in keeping with the rest of the city in that regard and the walls were almost exclusively white with blue tinted windows for every room on every one of the thirteen floors. According to the file he'd received, Miss Rhodes lived in room 72 on the sixth floor. It also made mention of the fact that a specific six digit key code was required to access the elevator that served as the only way to the upper floors, but Ranth wasn't about to let that get in his way.

By now it was just after 3 o'clock in the afternoon and there was a steady stream of people coming and going into and out of the complex. Falling in step with a middle aged woman who looked like she was coming home from a hard day at the office. That was perfect for Ranth as it made her the ideal target- in too much of a hurry to pay any attention to who might be watching as she keyed in the pin code. After all, who would go to the trouble of trying to break into someone's room in the middle of the afternoon? As it turned out, the answer to that question was 'Ranth'.

Memorising the combination didn't even qualify as child's play to Ranth as he let the woman go on ahead before calling the next elevator with his newly acquired pin code and riding it up to the sixth floor. The next part was equally as simple, as the doors themselves were fitted with regular locks- the logic apparently being that nobody would get past the security code on the elevator and so they skimped on the individual room security. Thanks to hanging around Artorius, Ranth popped the lock and entered the room of Haley Rhode. The room itself was sparsely furnished and contained only the bare essentials. Clearly, his target cared little for her apartment or her time spent within it. A quick search of the place found no sign of his quarry, but he did find a very messy study and a bedroom with an unmade bed and weeks worth of clothes strewn across the floor. "Charming", he muttered as he entered the kitchen and found a calendar on the wall which was entirely date save for one entry. An entry for today's date that read '3:30pm, lunch with Stephan at the Cathedral Diner'.

Well, he'd passed the diner on his way from her work so that wasn't a problem. Although he'd need to hurry if he wanted to get there in time for 3:30 as it was currently 3:20. A short time later, Ranth was back on the street and moving with swift purpose back towards the diner. Upon arriving, he was just in time to see his target step right out in front of him. The only reason he didn't snatch her right there and then was that there was a blond haired man who actually looked rather similar to Ranth himself. Creepy. He seemed to be holding the door open for the target and so Ranth assumed that he was this 'Stephan' person he'd seen mentioned back in her apartment. This could be difficult, he didn't want to involve bystanders, but he was operating on something of a time limit and if need be then he'd dispose of the man one way or the other. For now though he'd tail them from a safe distance and see where they went.

Upon catching a slimmer of Haley's hair, Ryan quickened his pace but kept his distance to avoid imposing as a stalker--not like he wasn't at this point. She didn't seem to notice him or read too far into the atmosphere; he had actually expected her to look back to see if he was following her but apparently she thought that rejecting him once was enough to dissuade him. Hell was she wrong but it did somewhat mess up Plan A: his walk-with-you plan. But by now he had moved on to Plan B which was to simply follow her to get to know her more.

But perhaps lady-luck was on his side today. It was hard to tell from behind, but Ryan could see that she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings at all. Her head was kept down and she didn't seem bothered by the wind blowing up her skirt so her white lacey undergarments were fully visible to him. What confirmed his observations was that she attempted to walk across the street without looking left or right for vehicles or up which would have told her to stay off the road. Immediately, he took on the Hero act and rushed forward. "Look out!" he grabbed Haley by the arm and pulled her back as a couple drove past.

"You... should... pay more attention... Don't scare me like that," he chided the girl as he looked at the phone she had in her hands. Dumb texters. Before she could say anything, he took it out her grasps and turned it off promptly. He handed it back to her and once the light turned green, he grabbed her around the arms and walked her across. "It's only a message, not your life," but it was an important message on the other hand. When Ryan had turned her phone off, he glanced at the message she was reading. Two things stood out: the name of the sender and the content. First, the person on the other end was called Stephen and Ryan could only guess that he was her significant other, that complicated some things. Second, the two were supposed to have met at the diner but was moved to a park.

With the introduction of a third party, he had to be more discrete with his advancements. "Please be more careful, it would be such a waste of a beautiful face if your life were to be cut short," Ryan lifted her head up and smiled kindly before taking an alternative route to get to the park she and this 'Stephan' person had agreed to rendezvous. This little pick-up mission just got a hell lot harder... If only he could just point and shoot the girl... It would ruin the fun though. He had to see who this Stephan was... perhaps he could provide the hunter with a little entertainment... he didn't matter anyways, he was just an extra.

It was a simple task to follow the pair down the street without being noticed. In fact, Miss Rhodes companion was drawing quite a lot of attention as he chased her across the road potentially saved her from being run down by a passing vehicle. Far from seeming grateful however, the woman instead seemed to be almost entirely apathetic towards the situation if her body language was anything to go by and while the guy seemed to have a lot to say, he didn't see her so much as utter a thank you to him. Peculiar, but Ranth wasn't being paid to judge her social skills, he just needed to snatch her and get her back to the guild.

Unsure of whether or not this was the Stephen that he'd seen mention of in the calendar in the targets apartment, Ranth decided that his first order of business needed to be confirming the man's identity before then coming up with the best of way of dealing with him. Seeing that the pair seemed to be going their separate ways, Ranth took this as his opportunity to approach the blonde haired man. Walking at a casual, Ranth glanced down at his watch and then 'accidentally' ran straight into Ryan just as he was turning away from the woman who was wasting no time in going about her merry way.

"Oh damn, sorry about that mate", Ranth said apologetically as he steadied himself against Ryan and then made a bit of a show of dusting off Ryan's jacket before taking a step back. "You're alright aren't you", he said it as more of a statement than a question as he confirmed that he hadn't caused any injury and put his hands in the pockets of his jacket. "Sorry mate but I'm in a bit of a hurry", he said as he glanced at his watch again in an agitated manner. "Gotta go meet someone", he explained with the urgency of someone who was late to an urgent appointment as he excused himself with a curt nod and then continued past Ryan and along the same path that Miss Rhodes and several others had taken towards the park.

Several minutes late, once he was sure that the man he suspected to be Stephan had continued on his way, Ranth took his hands out of his pockets and inspected a stylish looking leather wallet that he'd taken from the hapless man when he'd bumped into him. It was a sleight of hand trick that he'd learned from Artorius and he was quite proud of his newly acquired skill as he opened the wallet and inspected it for ID of some kind. The first thing he found was a receipt for a train ticket and a quick flip through the rest of the wallet revealed some cash, an assortment of different membership cards and finally a photographic I.D that confirmed that he was not Stephan but rather 'Ryan Reaper'. An ominous sounding name to be sure, but not one Ranth cared about as he tossed the wallet aside and continued following his target from a safe distance. He'd wait until she went back to her apartment and take her from there.

In the meantime, it was getting to be late afternoon and soon the sun would be setting and Ranth got to enjoy a nice stroll around the park until Miss Rhodes felt it was time to be going home.

"No, no... It's fine, I'm fine..." Ryan replied a little dumbfounded. The person looked almost like him, save for the slightly longer, messier, and darker hair that was held back by a headband, and he was touching him... The hunter felt uncomfortable as Ranth entered his personal bubble and patted him down... Something was off. Personally, he felt lighter in weight once the man had pulled his hands away and into his pockets; both hands were originally out in the first place, was he the bashful type that easily got embarrassed? No, the stranger's facial expressions told him that he was quite confident and wouldn't let something like a bump break his stride.

There was a moment of awkward silence before the two separated ways; Ryan let the man go first and watched him retrace the hunter's step and turn the corner that lead straight to the park to meet up a certain someone. Was this guy the infamous 'Stephan' he had seen on Haley's phone? Once he was sure that the man had left, Ryan turned back to find his wallet on the ground open. Everything was still inside: money, train ticket, membership card to Victoria's Secrete among other things, but his ID was out of place. It didn't matter though, all the man got was his age, gender, and name while Ryan got his motive.

Once Ryan got to the park--picking up a girl along the way--he found Haley and another guy sitting together on a bench. The two were friendly with one another and that could only lead him being Stephan and the previous man being someone else who was targeting Haley; the hunter couldn't find the latter but he was sure that he was around the vicinity watching.

He sat down with the woman whom he was able to sway by uttering sweet empty words. The girl was a chatterbox, but luckily he could zone out the meaningless jabber and focus on his target and it's companion. As said, the two were quite friendly as Haley opened up and was talking to Stephan while she barely uttered a word to Ryan. He could barely make out what they were saying, but from the way she took out her phone and her lip movement she was talking about the little street incident. Stephan didn't seem to mind as he simply laughed and patted her head like a puppy which angered her.

They continued to talk until sunset when the two of them got up and said their good-byes. Ryan was surprised that Stephan didn't walk her home at such a late time, but it made his job easier. Ryan said his own good-bye to the annoying girl and left before she could ask if they would see each other again. He followed Haley back down the street until he caught a glimpse of the blonde-haired man that had 'accidentally' bumped into him. He knew the two of them were after the same target but the hunter didn't know what Ranth was hiding up his sleeve so he couldn't guarantee that he'd be successful. For now, the hunter ignored his presence and continued to follow Haley to make sure she got home safely; better for neither of them to have her than get her and risk a fight.

There was an old saying that said "once is an anomaly, twice is coincidence, three times is a pattern and there's no such thing as coincidence". This saying came to mind now as he discreetly watched Miss Rhodes as she met up with the actual Stephan for what could loosely be described as a moonlit stroll and he spotted the man he'd identified as Ryan Reaper loitering about. In a world where coincidences didn't exist and Ranth had been specifically informed that his target was likely to be the target of others then the only sensible conclusion was that Mr Reaper was after the same thing he was and for more or less the same reason. Her research.

So that was one rival so far and who knew how many others would show up the longer he dawdled around waiting for the right time to make the snatch and grab. Given the circumstances, Ranth had no choice but to assume that his competitor was a mage and a capable one at that or at the very least, capable of competing against one given the nature of the assignment. "This just couldn't have been easy could it?" Ranth sighed as he vanished into the shadows. The next time Ryan Reaper caught a glimpse of him from that moment on, it would be because Ranth had decided to change from a stealth approach to declaring all out war.

As for the happy couple, they completed their walk and made their way back to Haley's apartment. As they stood outside the front gate, Ranth could only pray that they weren't going to do what it looked like they were going to do. Then, as if to spite him, sure enough Miss Rhodes invited her companion up to her room for 'coffee'. Watching from several hundred metres away, Ranth could see everything that went on perfectly thanks to his magic and as the couple linked arms mischievously, the archive age waited to see who else might follow after them. He knew already that Ryan was a competitor, but that didn't by any means mean that he was the only one.

Sure enough, before the gate had even swung shut a man in a dark trenchcoat despite the humidity of the evening air crossed the street and caught the gate in time to get in. I wonder how he plans to get past the security door Ranth wondered idly as he gave it another couple of minutes before he'd make his way up to the third floor apartment via a route he'd identified earlier thanks to his prior visit to the apartment. he wasn't sure exactly how this was going to go down, but one thing was for certain: It was going to get messy.

From where the hunter was standing, he could see a man idling by the front gates, three across the street, two being drunkards on a bench not far from him, and five eating at a ramen store. 11 possible contenders, 13 if he included himself and his copy who had waltzed into the building structure like he lived there. Ryan wasn't completely worried about his visually similar enemy; from the brief encounters they had, he had a gut feeling that Ranth wouldn't immediately barge into the love room. A calm, calculated man. Everybody else though... "Hey! What the hell are you doing? Get with the plan, I'm supposed to be stationed here!"

"Waahhh? Seriously? I'm so sorry! There were just a lot of spots so I got confused... Umm... Umm... Was I supposed to go to the ramen shop or the bench.. or..." Ryan put on his completely-hopeless act and waited for the man to say something but he simply sighed in frustration as he waited for the hunter to get figure out his position. "Oh...? So you're all in this together? Interesting..." his mask dissolved quickly as he pulled out his gun and shot the man point-blank in the head. He checked back and recounted all the heads. Once he finished he concluded that there were more lying around the area since he still counted 11 after killing one of them. This was getting more and more troubling by the second. The lone man standing by the gate checked his watch and pulled out his phone, pressing a couple keys before flipping it closed and left. They were making their move soon. At this rate, he would surely lose his target...

And so will the other guy... His face darkened, the idea didn't but there were no other options for him at this current stage. The hunter left his spot behind the tree and followed the path Ranth had taken. He saw him enter an elevator and quickly stuck his foot between the closing door and entered the enclosed space.

"Why hello there sir, what a pleasure it is meeting you again. I hope you weren't late to your meeting, after all, you did bump into me and steal my wallet. You know, it's quite rude to know someone else's name before introducing yourself," Ryan smirked as he slid right next to Ranth, gun still in hand and ready to shoot but held loosely. "Formalities aside, thief, I know what you're after, and I'm sure you know what I'm after, and we both know what the people outside are after. However, the third party seems to be comprised of a number that largely exceeds our own, it'll be impossible for us if we were to take them by ourselves," He said this slowly as if he was giving it time to sink in.

He checked his watch for an estimate of how much time was left before the fun begins. There were two minutes left before the hour and by experience, many things were planned to the hour. "I have a proposition. Why don't we call a temporary truce and take down these annoying bastards together? Of course, you don't have to say yes but I can tell you're a smart man: fight with me and lessen the competition or fight against an army of people without a chance?"
