Embodiment of Pandemonium/Aspect of Sacrifice

Servant? Slave? These were exactly the reason he had rebelled against the last 'god' that he had served. He had no master, there were none that would ever collar his birthright, his power. Those that suggested such would meet their demise at the end of his blade. It was that thought that raced through his head as he wiped the blood from his blade, watching the Dreamer move freely from his bonds. The moment he had become free, Zeph had felt it in his very core, it was not something that went unnoticed. He turned his attention from the Dreamer and back to his red-headed compatriot. She seemed quite confused as to how to proceed now that they had freed the beast. It would seem that, without a specific cause at hand, she was simply lost to life, not that much different from Zeph in truth. Glancing back to the Dreamer, his eyes narrowed, dropping the rag that he had been using to clean his blade. There was no way that this thing was going to lord over him. They had released it from it's prison. They! Sought it out so that the world would change. It had not been so that they would be enslaved by the ugly thing. "I do not know about you, my friend, but I am a servent nor slave to none. I rebelled against one false god, and I am not against doing it again," He look Emily square in the eye as he spoke, so that she would see the rage the burned underneath his cold, dead exterior. He would not bow before this beast. Instead, he would turn his blade against it. |

Clearly this “Dreamer” couldn’t wait any longer to begin its entry into the world, as it lashed out a tentacle for Emily who responded with a flicker of Blood’s Tear. The blade’s serrated edge tore into the rubbery flesh and was splashed with ichorous black goo but the tentacle recoiled. The smell was like every fish in the world had died and was rotting simultaneously. The thing made another horrible noise and the redhead had to somersault clear of another tentacle. As she landed, she noticed something strange was happening. The carvings on the walls were beginning to flicker and morph. There was a pulsating rhythm that was pounding and vibrating in her chest as the seemingly solid stone writhed and twisted. An unholy screaming began to emerge from all around them but neither Emily nor Zeph could afford to look around. The air was filled with a purple light and, from that light, a series of numbers and letters appeared to form. They were laid out in lines and appeared to be something mathematical in nature. As they formed, the Dreamer started to behave very oddly. It began to recoil from them as though their presence would be harmful and it cried out. “Stop them! I cannot be held here again. You must stop them from their task!” Emily stared across the room at Zeph. Her eyes were questioning as she watched his face. She was taken aback by the oddity of what was happening and that rarely happened. There seemed to be forms that were coalescing out of the numbers and letters that floated in air. The forms took the shapes of things that could only really be described as jellyfish and they seemed to be swarming around the “god” that lashed and writhed before all of them. It started to make high pitched noises as the creatures closed in on it. It threw tentacles at them but they were implacable and relentless. As they closed in, something even odder happened. The floating orbs and their trailing filament-like threads came in contact with the Dreamer and as they did so, they began to become absorbed into the thing’s body. What happened when they were absorbed was hard to understand. The skin of the Dreamer began to ripple and blur around the edges and it screamed in what was clearly agony. It didn’t seem to diminish in size at all but it did...transform. Every inch that was touched by the creatures began to coalesce into a substance somewhat like viscous lava and eventually the whole substance dissolved into the floor and ran through the channels that had carried the blood. As it did so, the walls seemed to drink it in. Everything fell into silence and Emily turned to stare at Zeph, wide-eyed. “What the hell was that and what just happened?” |

Before Zeph could act against the Dreamer, it lashed out. It struck at Emily, who merely cut through the tentical and than retreated to avoid another. Zeph merely stepped aside of one, as it did not seemed very focused, since Emily had injuried it. The smell from it's wound went beyond the stench of anything he had ever had the misfortune of smelling, but the sound it emitted was just as bad. Clamping his free hand over his ear, he tried to reduce what he heard, being a sound mage, his hearing was slightly more sensative than the normal human. He watched as the carvings on the walls, yet again, began to change, pulsating with a sickly glow. Eventually that glow filled the room as a purple light, from which formed symbols, foreign to even him. At first, Zeph thought that it was the doing of the monster itself, some sort of spell to kill them or to escape from the room, but it became clear that this was not true when it began to freak out, commanding Emily, and himself, to stop the marks from completing their task. Zeph could not help, but let a wicked grin spread across his face. "We are not your servents, nor slave! You lost your chance for this world the moment you looked down upon us as insects. Return to your hell, and know that you're last words were to beg!" He cackled, in his demonic tongue, as the markings formed into ethreal... Things, and began to drift towards the Dreamer. It was satisfying to watch as the Dreamer absorbed the ethreal creatures, only to melt down and be absorbed through the channels. If Zeph knew what karma was, he would have compared this moment to it. Stepping over to the closest channel, he knelt down, watching the remenants of the Dreamer being sucked away. In all the centuries of darkness and wonders, Zeph had never witnessed anything quite like what he just had. There were now far more questions than answers, and when Emily turned to him with one of them, he merely looked up at her. "A fail-safe, perhaps. This magic was ancient, and like nothing I have ever seen before." |

Emily nodded. For the first time in a long time, she was left speechless for a few moments. She knew that she’d been in the presence, still was in the presence, of true power and that knowledge also filled her with a dark and joyous pleasure. Whatever else was contained in this place, it was even more potent than the Dreamer. She wanted to explore all of the corridors and passageways that made up this temple, but there was a slight problem with that idea. The problem was that the massive doors to the inner sanctum were starting to swing closed. The last thing that the crimson-haired killer wanted was to be caught inside the place with no means of escape. She was quite sure that Zeph didn’t want that either so she shouted at him to break the reverie. “I think we’d better make a run for it or get locked in here. I’m not sure I want to get locked into this place with those things. I don’t think the end result would be good!” She turned and without checking to see if Zeph was following or not, sprinted headlong for the narrowing opening. She dove through it and came up on the other side on her feet and began to run. The reason for her continued sprint was that the building was starting to sink into the ground. It wasn’t crumbling, but instead slowly crumpling into the ground as though it was being absorbed. She noted that her demonic friend had indeed escaped and now they were well clear of the sinking edifice. She looked back at the cloud of dust that had appeared and then at her companion who had joined her. “Well, that was interesting. I suppose that we really ought to part ways here, but I’m staying at the Triple Ace Inn on the off chance that you have any other mayhem that you need a partner for. I’m always up for new adventures so give me a shout huh?” The notion of saying goodbye wasn’t really one to which Emily subscribed and so she simply turned on her heel and strode off in the opposite direction. Emily - 2SP & 400,000 Jewels Zeph - 2SP & 400,000 Jewels I must say, those acolytes and Emily were quite funny at first, then I began to think YANDERE. Just kidding. The narrative was quite interesting. Zeph was definitely IC and it was good to see some narrative progression. Though some of moonlit’s posts were inconsistent, it still helped the overall progression of the story. But it would really help if the dialogues were given different colours. I got confused at some parts because of it. I mean, even if it was Emily still, maybe a variation of how the dialogue was portrayed would have helped. Too bad it was cut short.
