Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Ask away; I have all the answers.

"Damn it John! Can you please stahp fooling around? No-NO! I said no! Put it down already! You know what, just give it to me already! Get your butt back here, John!" The frustration was in this one. Riven turned her head to see what the commotion was about and simply saw twomen fooling around with each other; the man called John has the other man running around like an idiot. It was amusing to watch but it was also frustrating to watch as Riven had some encounters with undisciplined teammates.

A heavy hand fell on her shoulders and a small husky chuckle followed the gesture. "Brings back memory doesn't it? There are always a handful of people who can never take things seriously and I was one of them," the man, her current captain, smiled as his mind took a short trip down memory line before it decided to work and give him a brilliant plan. "We've already asked for a person to come in and help out but that was before I met them--one might not be enough... I've heard of how well you handle newcomers, actually I've been told that if anyone was being a troublemaker, I should send them to you to shape-up..." The captain grinned at Riven so innocently though his plan was written all over his face.

Riven couldn't help but sigh helplessly, "You are known for your flattery, sir." And it wasn't quite like she could say no since it was the captain asking (which was more like commanding.) She watched the two monkeys ram into other people without a single care about the people they were hurting or the chaos they were causing. It didn't take long for Riven to instantly regret agreeing to discipline the man when he ran head first into the breast of a woman, earning himself a slap that could've sent him blasting off into the sky.

"I'm allowed to do whatever I like without any repercussions right?" she mumbled through her hands that were currently palming her face.

The captain laughed, "Just don't kill the poor boy, he's actually pretty good." He ruffled Riven's hair and left in a hurry as if he was scared to stay any longer, which was smart otherwise he would've heard her say 'no promises.'

((really late edit: the mission and its request))

Poinsettia again? It seemed that everything occurred in this city. Maybe they should just buy a year-long train ticket to this place to save the traveling troubles every time. Either way, the observation was ignored for the trip as Rou and Kaku wondered exactly how undisciplined someone could be to put up a request. "Well, they're probably worse than me in that regard." The two of them weren't even up to the class of the mission, and yet took it because of the tiny footnote stickied onto the flier that might as well have needed a magnifying glass. " 'Although this is a C-Class mission, D-Classmen are welcome to take this since a Corporal will be on standby if necessary' ... is what it said. So what, another knight?" Rou was already walking to the indicated destination equipped with everything he usually brought along, his hoodie jacket tail swaying with his booted steps but otherwise quiet. "It was your fault for the bad impression you gave to the last knight we worked with. Don't talk so much." A bitter truth that Kaku didn't really regret. The white snake agreed though, and receded back into the spacious confines of the hoodie jacket.

The white-headed mage arrived rather uneventfully, but was then immediately faced with a man spinning his way. Rou sidestepped and grabbed the poor guy's hand before he toppled like a top, but the man looked mostly frustrated than out of shape. "JOHN you can nOT just do THat!" he yelled, voice fluctuating from the earlier disorientation. Rou let him go and was practically ignored, overseen even, like a simple chartreuse-white lamp post. The mage showed no signs of dejection, and instead focused on finding any semblance of a person actually in charge. It wasn't difficult, luckily. "Sir. Are you in charge here? I am who took the request for the Combat Training mission. The note about my class should have been received as well." If the man had any opinions on Rou's appearance, he didn't mention or show it. Instead, he directed the mage further inside to get the briefing sorted out more with the point of a finger. "Go there first, then come back here after your presence is noted. I'll get your mission requirement covered."

When Rou returned back to the field, his red eyes searched for that spinning man and 'John'. Instead, he first found the aforementioned captain and, upon finding him, was met with another head-top of white, bun'd up neatly. Was she the corporal? Rou started approaching them with no intentions of being sneaky, and realized they were watching the two fools causing chaos. "-...he's actually pretty good," Rou caught the tail end of, and then watched as the other guy hurry off away from the scene. He gave a thumbs' point to her as he passed the mage. Well... okay. Rou continued walking up to her and replaced where the other man had been standing. "...Hello? I am Rou, and supposed to help out with that guy... well, I guess both of them. I think we're in this together." He watched as John picked himself up without any trace of remorse from his earlier action.

Riven was so amused by the two stooges running a muck that she almost didn't notice the new guy that had replaced the captain. "What? Hi. Hold on..." she muttered at first. It was disrespectful but her eyes were pretty much super glued to the scene in front of them, until it got a little bit out of hand when the two of them ran into an elder lady and made her spill the goodies on to the streets. She sighed heavily and dragged her hands down her face, "Yea, the other guy needs some serious help as well... We better get started before the whole city kicks them out."

With sleeves rolled up and a hand ready to smack the living hell outa them, Riven stomped over to the hooligans and backhanded them them so hard that their heads did a full 360 turn and knocked them out. She picked up the two bodies, turned to Rou, and gave him an innocent little smile, "Sorry about that, I'm Riven and I look forward to working with you. Sadly, I can't say the same with these two. Anyways, there's a park a couple of blocks from here, why don't we train there? We'll be out of most people's way and they can run around like little kids all they like." It wasn't the best introduction but she had worse.

Once they reached the park, Riven dropped the two bodies on the grass and sat in front of them. "They should wake up soon... I think... Hmm... Well now that we have some peace and quiet, let's get to know each other, Rou," she turned to the younger male and rested her chin on her knee. "I'm Riven Esquile and I'm a Corporal in the Knights. I don't know anything about these two guys over here except that the one we're supposed to be training is called John. And I guess I specialize in fighting: swords, hammers, poles, fists, anything so I could help out with that."

There were a pair of groans coming from the bodies grass and soon enough, they were sitting up dazed. "Looks like our students are up, let's start with introductions shall we? You two will start it," she smiled nicely with a hint of danger.

Mission Details

Being overlooked was one thing, but being disregarded held an entirely different, more dejected feeling!! ... to most people. For Rou, he couldn't bring himself to think much on the barely responsive reply, let alone be mad about it. If anything, Rou fully understood how and why her attention was being attracted: the idiocy of those two men really was truly astounding. "Agreed," was his short reply, so now was to force them to actually stand still and quiet for long enough... Well, that was easy. The mage instead found himself idly witnessing the greatest one-two backhand knockouts of all time. Briefly, he even wondered if they were still alive after that. The bodies looked just as easy to pick up as well, her motions unhindered and well-coordinated in execution. S... Strong... By the time she finished talking to him about the park, Rou could only change his surprised expression, a small widening of red eyes as it were, to a small smile he tried to return. "...Good plan Riven. I'll follow behind you. It... doesn't look like you need help with that."

The park was spacious, as expected, and was primarily covered in cut grass with the exception of the imported sand that filled the eastern section. The lady chose to sit, so Rou copied the notion on the other side of the two knocked out bodies, cross-legged. His jacket tail ended up curling around the side. "Nice to meet you, Riven." He already figured she was a knight of sorts, and wasn't that a bad thing for a dark guild member? He wasn't as wary as Kaku was though, because... if she did decide to arrest them, it wouldn't change much of anything. He'd rather work with a knight than with other mages anyway.

"About these two, it's the same for me. The request was kind of... vague, left open. Teach John three things to make up for his flaws, get him to actually listen to his partner, and then spar with him..." Red eyes glanced down to the supposed partner of the wilder fool. "The communication issue might be going both ways though, so we should talk to the partner too... Ah. I'm a mage. I'm only decent in combat, but I'm best at observation and patience." And considering how unruly the two have shown themselves, Rou was sure he could teach them something about alertness one way or another. Rou poked his chest through the jacket, and then pointed inside his collar. The telltale white scales of the snake peered out for a moment. "This is Kaku, but for the sake of an idea, let's keep him a secret from these two for now," Rou smiled his small smile, and Kaku retreated back into Rou's clothes again wordlessly.

The two men started coming to, so Rou stood up and walked over to be on the same side as Riven. As towering as he was to the grounded three, it really was Riven's tone that shook them out of their shaky waking.

John tried to speak first. "Hah!? As if I'd t-pfpehtf" Was that drool really worth smearing to keep down the rude mouth?
"P-Please excuse him! I'll start..." Rou continued to stare down at them with a neutral, calm expression. The guy, the requester of the mission, was already beginning to pale. "My name is Lad. As you may have noticed, it was me who asked for training for John here-"
"I'm tellin' ya I don't need i-psgfifghst"
"T-thank you for accepting. Please, please do what you can. Come on, can't you do something as simple as instructions!?" Lad tried to bop John on the head, but got his hand swatted away. The friction between these two was way too obvious.
"Whatever, look. You already know that I'm John, and I'm tellin' ya! you're wasting your time here!" The man loudly spoke in an attempt of persuasion. A failure of an attempt, since Rou couldn't help but imagine the man as an overgrown child, and the corporal... Well, she could speak for herself.
"He's... He's a mage, if that helps any..." Lad tried to keep the topic on board, but his sudden shy stuttering wasn't exactly making a great impression of someone that can reign in a troublemaker.

Mmm... A mage? It seemed like this wasn't just some sort of physical training that John needed, perhaps in magic as well? Riven smiled genuinely at Rou and his pet snake. Deep down, she wondered what guild he belonged to but from a past experience, she figured it would be better off for her not to know.

Riven mused at the two fools before her; despite how they acted towards each other, she could tell that one meant a great deal to the other. John was a John but Lad was the his anchor that could somewhat hold John down and put up with his antics. It was a bit of an overstatement--or a lot--but Lad was the only one fit for John because Riven was sure as hell not willing to put up with him. "I'm Riven and that's Rou," she cocked her head towards the mage. "And we're supposed to be your instructors, John."

"...But, you're right, I also think we are wasting our time since you're no more than a worthless piece of trash that can't be taught," Riven said in her most condescending tone and added a little shove that sent John rolling back. "Pathetic."

"I'm not pathetic! I don't need help! I'm better than all of you so shut up or else ya'll really feel my wrath!" He yelled at the top of his lungs to everyone but honestly, it felt like the only person he was trying to convince was himself. Riven stared at John nonchalantly and simply rolled her eyes and smirked, mocking him. Not a moment later, like she had predicted, her actions had provoked John into rushing at her with his fist raised and ready to fight.

Riven easily side-stepped his first attempt at a swing and caught his second with a hand. It was a petty brawl that consisted of John going all out and Riven just leaning left, leaning right, and stepping back without breaking a sweat. To amuse herself even more by undermining John she began to hum a song, look up at the sky, yawn, and count the seconds. "Stop... Looking... Down at me!" John suddenly roared. His right hand was balled up and glowing with energy. It came at her faster and stronger than his previous attacks; it was good but not good enough. Riven caught his hand again and pinned him to the ground with a dagger under his chin.

"Definitely better than all of us..." Riven grinned playfully. "I've seen what you've done but I'm pretty sure you can do much, much better. We'll work on your magic first since it's something only Rou can teach. Any objections?"

Now scared shittless with a threat, John nervously shook his head and said, "N-no ma'am..."

Strong. Course, but rounded. That was how Rou thought of Riven as she handled John very well. Riven definitely knew how to poke at the trainee, a skill Rou knew he lacked and wouldn’t be able to learn. It was a character trait that Rou naturally disliked, but he had to admit there were many uses for being able to jab at people with words and watching them flail in their ripped pride. The mage stood by and watched the corporal lead around John, much to the latter’s irritation and anger. He didn’t need to speak; in this case, his silent presence was enough to add salt to the wounds that John was sporting to his ego. After all, if Riven was this ‘rough’, then how could the mage be?

She wasn't actually going to kill him, was she? That would be problematic... As it was, John decided to be cooperative at least.

John swallowed his frustration in favor of speaking for another day. This was Rou’s cue, and the mage stepped forward as John was settling himself back on his feet. John, such an average-looking man for a guy yelling about his greatness, stared at the less fierce of the white-haired ‘trainers’. John eased back into feeling no worry as he held his gaze into those red eyes, and even Lad was feeling tense from John’s habitual behavior. Riven was straight to the point, was what John thought. This Rou guy though? He didn’t look threatening at all! Oh... if only he knew why.

For Rou, he already had an idea of what to teach John while watching Riven effortlessly ground him. And he knew just how to start it. “John. When did you develop your magic? A broad answer is okay; relatively recent? From your childhood?”

“What kind of qu-“ In the background, Lad coughed, obviously fake but genuine in concern, “Er... I’ve had it for years.”

“I ask to know how familiar you are with it. Not to say you don’t, but there are two main ways to consider magic. It's either a part of you to nurture, or a part of you to learn from. It should be both, really, but it varies per person." Boring exposition? Well, Rou was going to have to drill that in if they wanted to actually progress, regardless of how high John's eyebrows could rise. Maybe a demonstration would be best after all. Rou stared, then inhaled. He removed the stick tied to his back and stabbed it into the dirt on the side.

“Kick me."

“...Huh?“ Rou did not reaffirm what he said; John was a smart enough guy, and said guy's eye twitched when Rou nodded his head as if talking to a child. "If you say so!“ John charged, his moves once again reckless and way too easily readable. Rou backed up and dodged the left kick. John saw his game and tried again, this time dropping down and trying a low kick. Rou jumped a step back, and then continued to keep distance as John tried and tried again. The man grit his teeth, fury returning despite Riven's earlier threat, and so he pushed off the ground in a flying kick.

Mentally, Rou noted five to be John's maximum attempts, and then bent backwards to duck out of the way. Having already anticipated John's incoming jump from his footwork, Rou struck out his hand while angling away and...

Poked him.

"Arck! What. What was that!?" The attempts stopped now that John was heavily breathing.

"Observation. A very quick one to see what you are." Rou put up a hand before John started spewing out denial. "You favor your right side too much as an anchor. I'm saying, you are the type of guy that follows on his habits. In terms of magic? You have a lot to learn from it." Rou didn't like speaking on a higher position or speaking so much in a single breath, but he wasn't here to be friendly or convenient. "Prove me wrong if I am. You found out that you had magic, and was then elated. You went around thinking that having magic was the best thing, and then started haphazardly throwing it around. You thought, and still think, that the fact that you have magic is more important than the specific details." Admittedly, Rou was reiterating in summary a lot that was told to him at Empyrea, but it was effective all the same seeing as John held his tongue.

How did this kid figure that out!? was what was written on John's face. Rou held his sigh and looked over to where Riven was probably watching from. He turned back to John. "I don't even need to ask you to use your magic at this point," John furrowed his eyebrows for being looked down upon. What, was he not worth i- But," Red eyes glared at the breathless man, even as Lad was fidgeting in the background from the change in tone, "if you want me to acknowledge you as a mage, then you will need to tell me an essential fact about myself. Simple, isn't it? Everything about me is already in front of you." Rou looked back toward Riven. "I think you should take over while he digests this."

Ask away; I have all the answers.

Despite knowing that it was impossible for her to learn magic, Riven found herself listening into Rou's little lecture. And then she was musing over what he had said about John; Rou was young, but he wasn't dumb or foolish like others from his age group.

While he taught the trainee, Riven decided to go over to Lad who was idly sitting on the side, watching John's ordeal. He looked about the same age as John, give a take a little younger surprisingly; perhaps that was why he was so passive around his partner and putting up with his antics. Now that she thought about it, the scene earlier today did seem like two siblings fighting over a toy and the younger one calling for mom to make it stop.

"So are you two brothers or friends?" Riven sat beside him. He jump and she smiled nicely to show him that he wasn't so much of a bad girl after all.

"Umm, friends... I guess you can say that. We've been together since I can remember. Our dads were really good friends. As for us... He doesn't really have a lot of friends, as you can kind of see why so he kind of latches to me and I'm not really that strong so I hide behind him... We don't really get along well but we fill in each other's holes... He's just a handful sometimes," he said softly as he watched Rou lecture his friend.

Riven took in everything Lad had said and all of a sudden, it was as if she could feel the bromance between the two boys, it was sweet. "That's really nice... I can feel you two going a long way together," she gently patted his shoulder before she stood up to take over the training.

"All right, since you need to work on your skills... Run to that bench, jump over it, then go to the slide, run straight up it, and then run to the rock at the end, climb up to the top, and then run back here. Lad, you're going with him," Riven directed them to each obstacle. "You have 5 minutes. 50 push-ups if you don't make it but if you do, I'll give you these cookies I made," she held up a bag of the treats that she designed to look like Herad and planned give out to people; she offered one to Rou.

Dang, Riven knew what was up. John and Lad took off to do their obstacle course. It was less for the cookies and more for the, well, they didn't want extra work. At least on John's case, he felt he didn't need it, while Lad didn't want to be the one that failed. Rou looked at the offer cookie and accepted it. "Thank you." He looked at the likeness of Herad, and briefly wondered about the fact that he was about to eat the guy's head. Well, it was food, and rude not to eat it after accepting it. Now that their trainees were away, Rou spoke about what he had observed in that little test. "I have a feeling that John wants to always be on top. But then, gaining magic became his shortcut. I can't tell if he's actually tried working hard in his life before though." Rou was more concerned about how much information and actions that John was going to have to get used to before actually getting to the good meat of learning. "If he just calms his ego, he could go a long way." Rou spoke from experience with handling a certain partner of his. He watched as John was panting up the slide, followed by a staggering Lad. Rou looked at the cookie again and took a small bite. "This is good." He felt something nudge inside his jacket... Well, okay, it could only be one person that was doing that.

"You shouldn't eat this though," Rou started seemingly talking to himself, but he had directed it to the snake that was curious of what Rou was eating. Red eyes looked down, and Rou even poked his chest where the snake was. "No." Kaku wanted to know though. Was this lady knight a cook!? What was it!! A cookie was just a cookie right? Kaku wanted to know, and he was getting bored stuffed inside the jacket despite helping stabilize Rou's movements during the earlier dodging. Rou looked back up and saw that John and Lad were still at the rock. "Fine, just stay hidden until John figures out that you exist." Rou complied, and then basically dropped the cookie into the collar of his zipped jacket. He heard the sound of Kaku's mouth catching it, and then rolled his eyes. Yep, that was Rou's test for the man. If he could figure out that the mage training him was not one-person, then the guy should be well off enough to use his magic while being careful of his surroundings. Rou looked back at Riven apologetically, "You see this? He's not even going to eat it... Oh hey, they're coming back."

It had already passed four minutes, and Lad was actually looking in better shape than John. Still, Rou could see the effort that Lad was putting in trying to stay behind his partner. The duo reminded Rou of himself and Kaku: passive and active. The issue was that they weren't in sync. Lad was too passive at times while John was trying to constantly wrestle. "Twenty seconds..." They just passed the slide... "Come on John, come on!!" Rou could here Lad encouraging his friend.
