If I wanted to implement a combination system to my existing magic, would it be possible without changing the magic description/revamping? There are two possibilities that I have thought of so far. Such as, creating a new technique (##). 1. In this new technique ##, it would have something like... when using ## and a different, already existing technique, an additional effect can be brought forth. Or, 2. Using ## will add one counter to a pool. When a specific number of counters is reached, say 5 counters for example, then an additional effect would be applied to the next technique used. Or, technique ## would be the "use up counters" tech while a different tech could be made to add up counters. If something like this would be implemented, could previous techniques be given the effect to add one counter? Or would that need a revamp? 3. ^ if the already existing techs could not be currently changed to be able to conform to a new counter-adding system, then could their future rank ups have the inclusion? 4. Speaking of ranking up techs: if a technique has future ranks already listed, could those future listings still be changed at the time of actually ranking them up (within reason of the technique description of course)? 5. More specifically and background on technique ## and why I am asking about this: tl;dr background if you want to skip it i guess so here's finally getting to what I want to do: Give the current and future "can used by either" techs a "add x counter to a pool" effect. The pool would be counted for an entire thread, and then reset to 0 at the beginning of every thread. Ophidian Origin is the only tech that currently exists that can be used by either Kaku or Rou, so for this I am asking if I can add this counter addition to that specific tech (or at least to its future ranks). Now as to what the counters would be used for, I was hoping that I could change Inscriptive Id, or add to its future ranks, the option to, instead of just switching Kaku and Rou, be able to also start usage of the counters for "someone not Kaku or Rou". I don't want to explicitly say "Mei" because there's five of them, but I will settle with Mei since he was the only one that was actually mentioned in the magic description (if this is allowed). The counters would determine the duration. While Rou or Kaku are not in charge, Mei or whoever it is would have access to all the magic techs. It'd be removing the "can only be used by-" restriction for the summoner only. Anything else like behavior would be IC stuff. The summon would still be able to act like a summon and do summon stuff. The main thing about this is that the magic potential of future made techs would not change. Whatever techs I could be able to make would still follow the same magic description of what is typed up right now. So to reiterate, with the plan i typed up just now, would this need a revamp? Without all my fluff, it involves: adding a counter-addition effect to the existing Ophidian Origin (or its future ranks), adding a "...may instead use up counters to switch personalities of the summoner with Mei for [counter] duration, at which point all techs are not restricted to a certain personality..." effect to Inscriptive Id (or its future ranks), and allowing future techs to be given a counter-addition effect for this plan and possible future combination usage. Other parts of this like whether more counters could be added during the 'switch' or what can the summon do during this time will be fine-tuned after figuring out whether or not this plan is viable. To answer the original (and over-arching) query of would implementing this require a change in some way? Yes, yes it would, your magic right now isn't really designed to allow an "enhancing own abilities via a secondary internal means" especially considering the vastly dual-nature of your abilities. So yes you'd need to add stuff to your magic to do this. |
