Staring from across the bar's counter, the bald man stared right back at Zeph, his eyes equally dead. "The man I killed to become a part of this guild was known as the Condor," he slowly said, dumping the drinks from the glasses before rinsing them. "The one who kills me as his entrance ticket to Raven Tail, will also be known as the Condor." He waved an arm, gesturing the way out for Monkey and Zeph. "When you are no longer as weak as you are now, come back- and tell them that you're looking for Condor." Although his words sounded somewhat cheesy, the atmosphere of the room - dark as hell - and the fact that he was the man that had just proven himself the victor, even without actually doing much himself, gave Condor's words an intimidating air, even as Monkey walked out of the place, through the hallway, and out the door, right back into somewhere in the midst of Trillium's many dark alleyways. It was later now, in fact, the sun had already set - so the only sources of light in these areas were the lights from the big flashy streets, whatever little amount that made it into these places. Shadows lurked everywhere, and already shady things and people were occupying these spaces. The breath of (somewhat polluted and altogether smoky) fresh air was a nice change of pace from the stifling feeling inside of the room they had just come from, so Monkey took the time to stretch as he walked along. "Don't take it too hard on yourself, you hear?" The masked man said, arms reached up towards the sky. "There's always a next time. Oh, but if you ever need it- here." Reaching into his pockets, Monkey pulled out a small card, handing it to the red-haired man. "Business card. See the address there? Next time you want to find Condor, just go to that place and ask for him." |

"Until then, Condor," Zeph responded, turning away and walking out with Monkey. His blood felt like it had been set aflame, and that it would soon burn through his veins and skin. He would return one day for Condor, and on that day, he would leave with his head... Though he wasn't too fond of the idea of being called the Condor from that day forward. With all of this, he found his mind far more active than it had been since that first day. He knew, now, that he had a lot of work to do and not a whole lot of time to do it. As they stepped outside, Zeph was relatively relieved to see that the sun had set and night had come upon the city. It made movement, for him, that much easier. He turned his eye to Monkey as he spoke and stretched himself out. It was true that he had taken this defeat pretty hard, but he had to. This was his wake-up call to the new reality that he lived in. He needed to hone his strength so that he would be able to stand on his own two feet in the world, and kill the Condor and join the Raven Tail group. A goal, a purpose, this is what humans had, this is what drove them forward, and now he had one. Zeph took the card from Monkey, glancing at it, barely understanding what it said, but tucked it away regardless. "This is not the end. I will take the power I need and return," He looked to Monkey, and for the first time, smirked, "I will grow until I am fit to kill in the name of Raven Tail." It was strange to him to feel the urge to be part of a group like this, but he liked the idea of being surrounded others who could help each other out. |

Monkey stared at Zeph, his mask hiding any chances of seeing a facial expression as the masked man took a long, hard look at him, creating silence that permeated the surrounding atmosphere. He was studying Zeph, or rather, his face for the moment, taking an inch of time to memorize his face, and perhaps look at that twisted smile that hadn't been there anytime before now. The tension dissipated when he then smiled - though, the mask was still there - and, more visibly, nodded in agreement. "Sounds like a good plan," Monkey agreed, with a thumbs-up. "You go do that, and then come back, you hear? Condor doesn't fight anyone without killing them unless he's trying to find a successor. Probably likes you, just too shy to say it." He chuckled; the bald man's expression back there in the room was anything but favor. But now, it was time for their departure and separation - for now, at least. "Get yourself stronger, and come back soon, you hear?" the masked man called out, waving as he turned away in the direction back to the guild's headquarters. "I'll be waiting for you; don't you forget, I was cheering you on the whole time! Don't worry too much, just get stronger - I'm sure we'll meet again, hopefully not too long later!" With that, Monkey left on his own route through the dark streets of Trillium, back to his home, back to Raven Tail - a new potential ally in the waiting. |

This thread has been CATIFIED! Morti: 4sp, 910,000J Calli: 4sp, 1,000,000J Notes: I did NOT see that coming with the old man. I like that the story gave a nice yet harsh ending and it showed a dark world revolving around an energetic mon- err, person. Overall I enjoyed the simplicity of the thread, and that the Condor is someone that has to be killed to join the guild in this particular instance. Gud Jawb Gaiiizzz. |
