Bouncing off the cushion and straight onto his feet, the masked man bowed in politeness and respect towards the bald man behind the counter. "Condor, I gotta friend with me today!" Monkey explained everything as he took a seat at the bar, gesturing for Zeph to follow suit as well with a wave of the hand. "Ooh, sit here, Zeph. Anyways, as I was saying- we ran into each other on the streets. He's a peel away from a full bunch of bananas, but from what I saw today, he has some potential - maybe something in the uh, darker areas of the guild, you know?" The bartended nodded while putting away the glasses, before preparing a pair of beverages of unknown mixtures and quantity - as before, the light was too dim, and on top of that some genius had the idea of making the counter entirely black, meaning that they were only a few volts away from being in complete darkness. "Zeph, is that your name that you said it was?" Condor asked, staring straight at the red-haired man. "So. You're interested in working for Raven Tail, is that so?" In a moment, a flash, faster than even Monkey could see, Condor was now on the other side of the counter, a drink in front of both Monkey and Zeph placed in perfect position, while the bald man stood there leaning against the opposing wall. "If you want it, you'll have to prove to me that you have what it takes." In the nigh-darkness of the room, the bald man pulled out a small baton. "I'll need your name, telephone number, address, best method of contacting you, and a demonstration of your aptitude - in that exact order." "Go, Zeph, go!" Monkey cheered, taking a sip. "You can do it!" |

Zeph, as per usual, had absolutely no idea as to what was transpiring before him. Because of this fact, he continued to follow suit. Monkey moved to the bar, beckoning him to sit with him. With no real counter-motives, Zeph moved forward and took his place at the bar. His parasol closed, he leaned it next to him. This way, it was within easy reach if he suddenly needed to use the hidden blade within. Of course, he had no idea what the situation was as the two men talked to one another. His eyes snapped to the bald one when he was addressed by name. However, what he said confused Zeph. Join Raven Tail? Why would he want to join the back end of a bird, or was it, perhaps, the name of a group. Looking sideways at Monkey, Zeph wondered. Had the man he approached been testing him to determine whether or not he would be a good candidate for this group? It would explain his endless stream of questions that had spewed from his lips since the moment they had met. His eyes shifted to where the man suddenly moved to. He was fast! It was obvious now that this man was no ordinary bartender. Standing, Zeph grabbed the parasol into his left hand, facing the bald man as he pulled forth the baton and began his list of needed information. "I do not understand what is going on, however, I shall comply. My name is Zeph Erez. I do not know what a telephone number is and I do not have a place of residence. I will remain within this city for a time, so the best way of contact is to approach me, for I cannot read human writing very well at this time," As he spoke, he unlocked his sword and slowly pulled it from the parasol. Once the split-blade was free, Zeph calmly placed the parasol upon the bar. "This is not senseless violence. I fight to prove me worth, am I wrong?" This question was aimed at Monkey. |

Condor frowned, and Monkey had to explain a bit to him first. "As I said, he's a peel short of a full bunch of bananas, but he seems well enough to do what he wants." Somehow, that satisfied the bald man's curiosities. With that done, Monkey now addressed Zeph himself. "You're right, Zeph! You're fighting to prove yourself a worthy hitman!" The masked man announced, waving. "I don't know what Condor's criteria is, but since Condor's one of our best folk around here, if anyone is, he's qualified to test you out - so don't hold back, you hear? Even I don't think I could kill him if I tried; he's probably just going to test your something or another, I don't know, he controls the field that I'm actually not a part of." With that, he bid the red-haired man good luck. "Go get 'im!" Condor, for his own part, held the baton with his right hand - he held it, not at an edge, but right down the middle, an odd thing in itself. It made sense, though, when he flicked it - and it extended, becoming a full-length staff. Wielding it like one of those monks in the movies, the bald man extended an arm, his fingers gesturing for Zeph to come forwards. "If you're a hitman, you should be able to kill me, right? Don't try to make it easy on me. I still need to know whether or not you're strong enough to become one of us yet. Monkey's faith in you is as of yet unproven and untested." He grinned, and Condor's glistening white canines showed even through the dimly-lit room. It was a discomforting grin, the smile of something, well, inhuman. "I promise not to kill you." |

Embodiment of Pandemonium/Aspect of Sacrifice

Why was it that humans found the need to hear the sound of their own voice. It seemed like a universal trait amongst them, but that was only because he had met, perhaps, one human that didn't talk on and on and on. In fact, Zeph was so disinterested in what it was that they were talking about, past answering his very simple question, that he actually bothered to pick up the drink that the bald one had original set out for him. Without chugging, but also without taking his sweet time, Zeph drank the whole thing down while the bald man began to speak in response to everything. Condor was about halfway through talking about how he was 'promising not to kill him,' when Zeph suddenly threw the now empty glass, straight from his lips and heading at the man. Following up with the airborne glass, he rushed forward at full speed. He was not delusional, he was well aware that as far as physical strength went, he was about as strong as the average human. That meant he had to rely on his speed and endurance to make it through this. He would have to strike fast and in quick succession in order to make up for what he lacked in strength. Unfortunately, he had no idea what kind of limits the bald man had, so he might as well be fighting with a blindfold on. Upon entering striking range of the man's staff, Zeph, while moving forward, jumped to his left. This actually brought him closer to the side the staff was held, but that was the point. If he could reduce the distance between himself and the staff, then Condor would not get as much time to pick up speed on his attack. With this in mind, Zeph brought his right arm in an upward arcing motion, his split-blade whistling through the air as it can at the man's body, aiming to cleave him in half form bottom to top. |

The empty glass hit Condor straight in the torso - or it would've, had he not swung his staff and smashed it to bits first, without even a pause in his own talking. He also swung forwards vertically as Zeph came in - which Zeph had actually dodged, with his moving left. Without much movement, the bald man's staff did not come up, not in time for Zeph's sword to be blocked. With Monkey cheering him on, the red-haired man's sword struck straight and true, right there on Condor's bald head - somewhere on the upper right side of the hear, above the ears. The blade struck, and made the same sound that would have happened if two blades had clashed against each other. That was all. Condor, for his own part, did not move, and after the blade touched him, remained still. The blade itself- it hit, but it simply did not cut. "How can you succeed as a hitman, if you don't even try to find out anything about your target?" The bartender slowly asked, staff in hand but not raising a muscle. "Blindly going for someone is just murder, not assassination. Let's try that again." With that, he finally moved - the man known as Condor turned slightly as he kicked outwards towards Zeph himself, attempting to strike the young man in the guy with his knee. It was a kick that would have sent him flying back, if he didn't dodge it. In the far corner, still enjoying his drink, Monkey continued to cheer for Zeph. "Don't give up, Zeph! You gotta be creative, gotta be thinking, gotta see and know and analyze or whatever that is! You're gonna be a top-tier hitman, am I right?!" And something or another along those lines. |

Embodiment of Pandemonium/Aspect of Sacrifice

Chrome dome? Surprise was obvious on his face, first real emotion to appear since meeting Monkey. As his blade stopped, he came to the realization that this bald man, like himself, was most likely a mage. This was going to be a problem. His eyes narrowed as he listened to the bald man blab about the this and that in regards to killing an individual and how could he succeed if he knew nothing of his target. This man was so full of himself that it was actually irritating Zeph to a small degree. "You are presumptuous. The quickest and most effective way to learn the qualities of an individual is through first hand experience," He remarked as he increased the pressure of his blade, testing the man's magical resilience. Without a real thought, he jumped back and off to the left, avoiding the man's kick. "And you may title it however you wish, but killing is killing, no matter the words you use to justify or demonize it," His face went blank as before with that said. His feet began to move slowly while he kept a good distance, while observing the man's body. In a fight of magics, Zeph was at a disadvantage to say the least. Since he had come to Earthland, he had improved his physical capabilities. However, his magic was far underdeveloped and the spells he had would not be of any use in a straight forward fight like this. Distraction, misdirection, these were the things he would normally rely on. In an area this open, both his spells, Silence and Throw Voice would do nothing, but tire him out that quicker. His best bet was to continue on relying on his physical form. With that conclusion, Zeph rushed forward again, keeping his body low to shrink the target. Bringing his sword across, he aimed to take out Condor's leg at the knee. He needed to see if this would give the same effect as striking his head had. As a follow up, Zeph spin, leg swinging out, aiming to catch him in the side. All he could do now was to attack and evaluate how he responded. Hopefully, in time, he would find a pattern or flaw in his movements. |

The bald man frowned. "Regardless of justification or demonization? Are you trying to be a hit man, or just a murderer?" Condor retorted, slamming his arm against his staff - the man literally smashed his own weapon into mere splinters with a mere physical blow. "You are naive in the ways of the real world; this will get you killed." As he spoke, the man known as Condor leaped up, just enough to avoid the sword blow that Zeph had intended to aim at him, before landing back in his original position and permitting the red-haired man to actually kick him in the side. At around the same time, Monkey, who was fiddling around with the things at the bar, finally found the light switch - so he turned everything on to the brightest possible level, because it was difficult being a spectator in a room that was as close to total darkness as one could get. "Hold up, brightness incoming!" The masked man shouted, before he pressed that switch; the lights, thankfully took about ten seconds to fully adjust, meaning that they weren't going to be caught in a blinding flash or anything that extreme. Ten seconds was enough time for anyone to see clearly - Condor's skin wasn't normal. It was dark, a grayish color. Touching it was like- well, like kicking hard metal, an iron pole or its human equivalent. Because that was exactly what the bald man's body looked like it was made of, at this moment. "That was uncalled for, Monkey," Condor muttered, as he suddenly ducked down and struck his right arm out at Zeph, aiming straight for his legs - his hand was not curled up in a fist, but straight forwards with an open palm, a dull iron spear with crippling potential. |

Embodiment of Pandemonium/Aspect of Sacrifice

The moment his kick made contact, Zeph knew the truth. Pain shot through his body in a way he had never felt before. Humans are such fragile things. How many times had that particular thought crossed his mind since he had awoken? How often had he witnessed their frailty? Despite this, he had still been foolish to attack this man with his own body, even after he had seen the affect his sword had made when striking him, which was obviously none. Out of pure instinct, Zeph jumped backwards as he heard Monkey shout out about the lights. Landing, he instantly fell to a knee, his left leg unable to support him after landing the blow. Using just one leg to move away from Condor had not taken him far. It became obvious, though, once the lights turned on, why he was struggling so much with this fight. The man's skin was made of metal! This magic was strong, and he had no way to fight against something like it, not as he was at least. In short, he was screwed. This realization stirred something inside him that he had never felt before. The fact was unnerving to him, and that also made it worse. In that fear he reacted, slamming the blade of his against the ground in front of him, using it to block Condor's hand. The blow shook him regardless, and it was at that moment that he realized what it was he was feeling, something that, as a demon, he had not had the capacity to feel. "This is... Fear?" His voice bare broke the air, the shake in it was undeniable. This was what he was now? Some weak and pitiful human who couldn't hold his own in a fight? Dropping his sword to the ground, he crossed his legs on the floor with his head bowed. He had no disillusion about the situation. "I have failed. I am not worthy to be tested... nor to join Raven Tail." |

With no expression and a voice as austere as it was deep, the man known as Condor looked down at the now-sitting Zeph. "So...you have reached wisdom." That was all he said to him, this time. Silently, sternly, the bald man walked back to the bar, took his place at the counter again, and began to clean the two glasses that he'd given to Monkey and Zeph earlier, though neither of them were fully consumed yet. Instead, he spoke to Monkey- about Zeph. "You were too eager, Monkey," the bald man chided. "You've brought in someone unprepared - leave with him. Tell him to come back when he has learned, and made himself a proper man, worthy of being the type of man that you have told me he was capable of." With that, he took the light switch away from Monkey, dimming the room back to its original degree of darkness, as well as activating another function - part of the wall on the side slid away, revealing an opening leading to a blank and clean hallway. The awkward silence hanging over the room was stifling even Monkey's voice, as he slowly got up and went Zeph. It was time to leave. "Um...maybe next time, Zeph," the masked man said, not sure if he was trying to comfort the red-haired man or himself. "Next time. C'mon, let's go - Condor's not staying here for long, and getting locked up in this dark room isn't going to do anyone a favor." |

Embodiment of Pandemonium/Aspect of Sacrifice

Silently, the red-headed man stood, wrapping his fingers about the hilt of his sword as he did so. He was a bit uneasy as he raised to his feet, the pain still quite alive within his leg, but it had faded just enough for him to put pressure on it once more. The pain was a reminder of his mistake, though this moment would be burned into his mind far longer than the pain would last. This had been a devestating blow to his spirit, the realization that he was no longer the powerful, feared demon he once had been. He had not been given the gift a power. Slowly, he moved to the bar, grabbing his parasol with his free hand, turning away from Condor, Zeph slid the blade back within the hidden sheath. Once he felt it fit all the way, he twisted the handle, locking it into place. Bringing the parasol down to his side, he began to head towards the door, a very slight limp from his injury. Before leaving the room itself, he stopped, raising his head up, he spoke out, addressing Condor, "It is customary for a hitman to know the name of his target, right?" The question was rehtorical. Turning his head around so that he could lock eyes with Condor, he spoke once more, "Give me your name, so I may now whose blood it will be, that shall stain my hands!" His eyes were not blank, half open, as if he was dead to the world for once. No, this time they were clear and focused on Condor, burning bright with the demonic essence that resided within his human form. He now had a goal, a purpose that he strove so hard to find. To take power, beat down the bald man, and Join Raven Tail. |
