Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Questions for archer plan

I will keep questions in this thread regarding plans for my character as the ideas come to me. Thank you in advance for reading.

1. Will this effect for an item (flatbow is what is in mind) be allowed? This is the basics of it:
"For [duration], the wielder may dry-fire with the option of the following effect: up to 1000 of compatible, available ammunition is launched in the aimed direction with the effort, power, and trajectory equivalent to as if it was a single normal firing, in up to 3 separate waves of any number combination. [Cooldown]. "

2. If #1 tech is allowed, what would be that ^'s rank?
What aspects of the tech would change with its rank (or be needed to change to make the tech work)? Like, would it be the # of arrows allowed, the # of waves allowed, making the duration instant instead (this would/might delete the wave portion), changing the "effort" that would be used up, forcing a requirement of the waves to be consecutive (not being able to "save up" the shots once starting the duration), putting in a maximum per wave (the original idea was a 1000 arrow storm though, for something like war or of such grand scale), etc.

Notes to keep in mind:
-The ammunition (arrows in this case) still needs to exist. This tech is meant to give the wielder another option/method of firing, as opposed to a tech that straight up shoots out 1000 projectiles.
-The range of the ammunition being fired will still rely on the weapon's class (bow in this case).
-Originally, I did not plan this to fire in a cone shape. I was thinking more along the lines of how it would appear as if there were up to 1000 bowmen in a line/square/something-reasonable formation that fired. If the aesthetic of extra bowmen is needed to be added in order to show where the arrows would be fired, then I will add that.
-When these arrows are fired, they would be directly taken from wherever they're available. Such as: teleported into place from a quiver, or from a quiver's effect that allows the arrows to magically be available when necessary to be pulled out from (until runs out of ammo of course) (I referred to Ecclair's Edge of Valkyria's Reload effect; obviously the gun and bow differences are evident, but the idea is that the character would not be physically carrying around 1000 arrows).

3. Would the latter quiver described up there ^ be able to have that effect? If so, at what class/tech rank?

4. My goal is to buy 1000 arrows at once. Would this math be correct? Quick Link to pricing
Important note from rules: 「If you apply for more than 10 at a time (10 is standard for arrows for a bow) the base price is increased by 50% for each "set" of 10.」
"C-class Arrows x1000" = 5,050,000 Jewels; 100,000 + (50,000 * 99)
"B-class Arrows x1000" = 50,500,000 Jewels; 1,000,000 + (500,000 * 99)
"B-class Arrows x1000" with Corporal 40% discount = 30,300,000 Jewels

That is all for now.

5. Can I even buy 1000 arrows at once? I could not find any mention of a limit in the rules, but I just remembered/was reminded that Gale's shrapnel thingy was reduced in amount.

Stay the course.

1. I doubt you can fire 1000 projectiles with a single technique regardless of rank. Take a zero off and I think that might be more reasonable. Either way, I think waves would be more reasonable instead of a full-on rain of arrows in terms of plausibility of acceptance.

2. This one really depends on the rank, I imagine. 1000 of anything is a lot. So, 10, probably.

3. A quiver like that is definitely doable. I would say A at bare minimum if it's holding that much stuff. That many arrows weighs a lot.

4. too lazy; didn't math.

5. Probably. Buy them in small bundles if you need to.

  • 1) 1000 arrows, even at Rank 10, would be too high - the most I would allow is 300 at Rank 10 and since that's SS-Rank a Rank 9 tech would be allowed about 250 at once. The technique would also need a set number per wave as well as a rough trajectory spread. Further, since self-propelled items usually have a strength-determinant range the projective range for this would need to be set fairly low.

  • 2) See above.

  • 3) This is too poorly worded at this stage, a quiver that holds 1000 arrows at once non-magically would be too large to carry and if it's summoning/ex-quipping them to you as you fire then look at the requip rules and you'd still only get 10 per 'change'.

  • 4) I'm not letting you buy 1000 arrows, the most I'd allow you to buy at once is 100. Your math is correct, however still no.

  • 5) See above.
