Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Marcus immediately regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth, but there was nothing he could do about it now. He breathed heavily, glaring at the boy. Then it happened, the boy looked devastated. He took a step back, trying to apologize. Tears started to stream the boy's face as he tried to explain himself, he began to sob.

At the sight of his weeping, all anger drained from Marcus, he stood there in front of the boy, feeling empty. How could he lay all the blame on the boy like that? It was hardly his entire fault, after all, Manah had helped Thano escape and deep down, Marcus knew that he stood no chance going up against both Manah and Thano at the same time. Even without the boy's interference, Marcus wouldn't have been able to capture Thano and the hostage would've died anyway.

This boy...was only just that, nothing more than a child. He couldn't have known better regardless of his reasons, it was painfully obvious that the child was just lost. If Laura were here, she would've reprimanded Marcus within an inch of his life. Even without the scolding, the sight of the boy crying made Marcus want to punch himself in the face, how cold and cruel could he get?

Marcus' expression softened. He tried to reach out to the boy but stopped, he didn't want to frighten him anymore than he already did. He knelt down next to him.

"H-hey..." He said softly. "I don't hate you. It was wrong to lay the blame on you, I'm sorry. That was stupid of me."

Marcus needed to appear less threatening. He deactivated the Talos Suit, allowing the suit of armor to disappear off him, leaving him in his street clothes, a tattered pair of jeans and flannel shirt.

"C'mon now, calm down...deep breathes." Marcus continued. "I just need you to talk to me now...who is this Nana you're talking about? Are they a parent? I can help you find them."

Gryffin tried his best to regain composure but it was just difficult. So as soon as Marcus knelt before him, he couldn’t help but launch himself forward and embrace the other in a tight hug, burying his head against the other’s chest. Fortunately, his street clothes were more comfortable than his talos suit, but it didn’t matter. For Gryffin, he just needed those reassuring arms that would always cradle him whenever he got scared and lonely. If only things happened differently, if only things turned out for the better.

“Nana... Nana...” he murmured into the shirt, trying to hide his embarrassment of the tears while pushing close against Marcus. “You’re my Nana! You big... big.... meanie.... You promised... you promised you’d protect me... Why’d you have to go?”

He was now gripping tightly as he cried. “I know it was my fault. I’m to blame. I’m to blame! But you’re my Nana. You weren’t supposed to leave like that. You promised you wouldn’t die!”

He stayed like that a little while longer before realization struck him. He had forgotten about the consequences of telling the truth. What if now he had altered the past and the future would be different? “Oh no...” So, in fright, he suddenly pushed himself away from Marcus. He look at him with terrified eyes before he turned on his heels and started to run away into the streets.

“Stupid! I can’t just suddenly...” he wiped his tears as he ran but as he reached one of the alleys, he stopped as he leaned to the wall and started to cry again. “No... Nana, I’m sorry...” So he figured he’d try to wait and calm himself first before running off again.

Marcus reached out again to the boy, trying to console him. Suddenly, the boy tackled Marcus into tight hug, burying his face into his chest. The knight blanched, completely shocked by the gesture. Slowly, he brought his hands close to pat the boy on the back, unsure of what to do. The boy continued to cry, all the while calling him Nana and saying things about how he was to blame and how he wasn't supposed to die.

To be frank, the whole exchange left Marcus completely in the dark. He literally had no idea who this 'Nana' person was, or why the boy continued to mistake him with Marcus. As far he could guess, Nana seemed to a pet name for some sort of family member, maybe a father or a brother, and they had died. It seems the boy, in his confusion, thought that Marcus was Nana.

The knight had no idea what to do, should he tell him the harsh truth that he wasn't Nana, or should he just play along for the boy's sake?

"I..."

But before he could even form a coherent sentence, the boy dislodged himself from Marcus with a terrified look on his face and ran off.

"Hey, wait!" Marcus called after him.

He got up and ran after the boy. He ran into the streets, looking around for any sign of the boy. The sound of sobbing came from a nearby alleyway, so Marcus followed it, only to find the boy, this time leaning against a wall and crying.

Marcus walked up to him, kneeling beside him once more. "Don't run from me." He said firmly. "I want to help you, just talk to me - that's all you have to do- just talk. Everything will be alright, I promise, I'll make sure of it. Okay?"

"What's your name? ...and who is Nana?"

As he tried to stop crying, he was surprised when Marcus had found him. This time, he pushed against the wall as the knight had come to kneel before him again and tried to talk to him, or get him to talk. But he was confused all the more. He wanted to speak the truth but he didn’t know how. He was scared that he might alter everything. And yet, he also wanted to just let go of everything. Weren’t families there to guide us? Weren’t they supposed to be the ones we could trust especially at dire times like this?

And when the knight said that everything would be alright, Gryffin knew he could just rely on his faith in this. So he nodded as he completely wiped his tears away. He looked straight into Marcus’ eyes as he slowly raised his hand and gently set it on his hair and patted him. “You loved patting me on the head whenever I cried.”

Then he pulled back his hand as if he had done something wrong but did not avert his eyes. “I know you will not believe me because I know how stubborn you can be. And it’s not the slightest bit possible because you don’t even have magic, but it’s true. You are my Nana. I’m your... your... grandchild, Gryffin. Your wife, my grandma, Laura, and she always teases you ever since I called you Nana instead of her. And, and, the reason why I have magic is because mom, your daughter, has one.”

He paused for a moment to see if he managed to get through with him. “But things happened... and I got thrown back into the past and this place... I didn’t know about this place, but that man had Dada’s voice and I missed him so...” He held his arms as if he felt cold but was in fact feeling small and lonely, “That night when he was killed, you came just as you promised, but in the end, I was the reason you died as well. I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to.” And he slowly started tear up again.

Marcus watched silently as the boy took his hand and placed it on his own head, saying that Marcus used to pat him on the head when he cried.

Marcus listened intently as the boy explained, telling him that he was, in fact, his grandson from the future, the son of his daughter to be exact. Sometime, in the future, it seemed that Laura and him would have a daughter who possessed magic, and she would in turn give birth to this boy. Gryffin, was his name... Marcus liked that name, it was a good, strong name for a boy, he would've approved.

The only reason the boy was following Thano was because the criminal had somehow reminded him of his father, apparently possessing the same voice. Marcus forced himself to not think about his seeming son-in-law, if a mass murderer had drawn comparisons to him to his own son, then Marcus wondered what kind of person he really was.

The story itself managed to become even more unbelievable as Gryffin continued, recounting how his own father was killed and how Marcus himself died attempting to save him.

Marcus paused after Gryffin finished his story. He was shocked, totally in disbelief, he had no idea what to do or what to say. His mind was totally empty. One hand, Marcus couldn't believe it; it was simply too far-fetched. How could this boy be his grandson, how the hell would he have managed to come back that far from the future. Yet at the same time, what if he was indeed his grandson, after all, having been around magic for this long, Marcus knew first hand that when magic came into the equation, nothing was impossible.

He looked straight into the boy's eyes... staring at him intently. The more he stared at him, the more his features seemed familiar.

Without a word, Marcus reached and embraced Gryffin, holding him gently.

"Shhhhhhh. It's okay, Gryffin." He croaked, his voice cracking. "It wasn't your fault. I wouldn't have wanted you to blame yourself... I never would've regretted it, not for one second."

Marcus took a deep breath. "I...I just need to be sure." He said. "Please."

Gryffin was a bit surprised when Marcus embraced him of his own volition. But he was happy beyond words that he circled his arms and buried his face into the other’s chest again. He cried silently but he was just glad that he felt like he could let go of everything that made him hurt. And the way Marcus would say how he would never regret his actions really made remember how selfless his grandfather was.

“It’s okay...” he muttered as Marcus said something about being certain. “Just to hold you like this is enough for me. Even if you wouldn’t believe me, Nana...”

As if so suddenly all the worries and all the anxiety filled him, frustration build up and he felt so weary. Gryfin tried his best to hold on, his sobbing stop as he pressed his cheeks against the other’s shirt, before he slowly fell asleep. His body could only take so much beating for one day, and all the excitement and all the magic he had to use had quickly took its toll on him. And his hold on the other’s shirt would loosen as he knew he could allow himself to be at ease with his Nana there to protect him just like he promised.

By this time, the rest of the city’s authorities arrived with their wagon. The Chief from earlier quickly ran towards Marcus, looking angry and bellowing orders to his subordinates to secure the area. He then looked at Marcus until his eyes fell on the boy and said, “Good work catching one of them, Ser Faldin. We’ll take it from here, now.” And with a snap of his fingers, two of the guards behind him approached Marcus to take Gryffin from him.

Marcus patted Gryffin's back as he hugged him, letting him regain control of his emotions in his embrace. The boy calmed down slowly, Marcus holding him until the boy's breathing started to grow more and more deep, his eyes fluttering. In minutes, Marcus was holding Gryffin's sleeping form in his arms.

Marcus released his embrace, letting the boy relax into a more natural posture for sleeping, cradling his head in his arms. The knight looked at the boy with a mixture of confusion and pity; he looked so peaceful in his sleep, yet after all the boy had gone through, Marcus found it hard to believe that his state of mind reflected his sleeping appearance.

If anything, Marcus still had trouble accepting the boy's story. To think that this boy was his grandson and he had traveled all the way from the future, and then, by some happenstance of fate, to come across Marcus himself was nothing short of unbelievable.

Then again, there was something about Gryffin's story, the way he said it, the way he looked straight into his eyes as he recounted it, that made Marcus want to believe him - if only a little. The only thing that Marcus was sure of, the boy was only telling him what he knew to be the truth, though if the boy's truth and the absolute truth really aligned was another matter entirely.

He needed to find out for himself.

It was at the moment that Dandelion Security Forces decided to make their entrance. Marcus looked up at them with concealed disdain as the Chief congratulated him for finding one of the culprits, telling him to leave the boy with them.

Marcus laid Gryffin gently against the wall, standing in front of him protectively. He glared the two guards down, a silent warning to back off. The men saw the look and stopped in their tracks, a worried look on their faces.

"That won't be necessary, Chief." Marcus said firmly. "This boy is under my jurisdiction, I'll be taking him back to Chrysanthemum with me for further investigation."

"I'll trust you'll leave this to me, seeing as you have much more pressing matters to pursue than a young boy." Marcus added. "It wouldn't do if news were to spread that a mass breakout happened under your command...orchestrated by none other than one of your subordinates; Manah was Thano's accomplice."

Marcus didn't even pause to see the Chief's reaction. He turned around and picked up Gryffin in his arms, walking away.

"Good luck, Chief. Feel free to ask our 'esteemed institution' if you need assistance."

The Chief glared at Marcus with a silent protest and curse before he turned with a raised chin. “Of course. It would have been appreciated should we have caught any and all accomplices of this fiasco and treason cannot go unnoticed.” He then motioned for the rest of the guards to proceed in tracing down the escapees. As he walked away, he stopped one last time to glance at Marcus and gave a dry and lazy curtsy as one last mocking bow before he marched down the road, voice giving commands to more incoming soldiers that have joined them.

That would leave Marcus unattended and therefore free to do about his mission. Gryffin on the other hand would have to leave his fate in the hands of his grandfather. Whether or not the man believes his story, he could only hope that wherever fate decides to put him, it would not have to be somewhere he could experience the same lose of his family again. And in his sleep, deep within the darkness he seeks a comforting solace in the resounding voice of his father and the warmth of the gentle embrace of his grandfather.

However, due to his rather wild adventure in Dandelion Sector, the poor boy would end up sleeping for a day or two before finally getting up and about once more. And when he did, he was not at all surprised to find himself on a train cabin where he and Marcus was riding. Their eyes would meet again before he quickly fell asleep for the rest of the way on their journey to Chrysanthemum.
