Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

"Now, Kylee. As Artorius is distracting much of the Whalers, you will take down one of the Whalers and assume their identity. Using their outfit, infiltrate and make your way inside where you'll have to figure out where they're keeping the gemstone. As soon as you have a good enough opportunity to do so, snatch and grab, and get the hell out of there."

Truth be told, it was an incredibly simple plan but it was made much more convenient by the fact that Ethan was able to get information on the layout of the warehouse. Using the analytical abilities of his archive magic, Ethan was able to essentially build them a blueprint, or a map of the warehouse. They didn't call him the Cartographer for nothing, that was for certain.

So far, with Artorius doing an excellent job of distracting the bulk of the Whalers, Kylee was able to get up close and personal with one of the Whalers. Of course, that basically meant just teleporting behind him and kicking him in the back of the head and thus knocking him out unconscious. But, you simply can't argue with results really, and these were some good results. Though, the Whalers' outfit was a bit tight on her, hugging her body quite closely almost to an uncomfortable degree. Luckily, the Whalers' weren't necessarily a brotherhood, or more accurately they weren't all male. Otherwise, infiltration would be next to impossible.

While she was disguised, Kylee couldn't necessarily just easily waltz on in there. There was risk to be had with this, and the more she could stay out of sight the better. Making her way into the warehouse and climbing up the catwalk, she spied a bunch of the Whalers in the warehouse below taking a briefcase deeper into the warehouse inside a basement of sorts. Quite a problem, but it was nothing she couldn't handle.

These bastards were a pain, literally even as one of them managed to draw his blood. It was a mere scrape, but it nonetheless stung and kept Artorius honest as he realized he had to keep his distance. Of course, as usual he was outnumbered, but it's not like it was much of a problem given his ability to surround himself in a cloud of smoke. Yet, he couldn't exactly reveal his trump cards here. After all, Artorius was merely a distraction, and so far he figured he was doing a decent enough job at it. Nevertheless, there was certainly no problem in thinning their numbers out. Thus, as a trio of the Whalers Gang members approached, the man charged magical energy into his fist before suddenly hurling it outward. As it stretched out and solidified, it sprang into three prongs, each hitting one of the Whalers with the pointed end.

"There's simply something satisfying about hitting you Whalers with a harpoon," Artorius grinned, enjoying the opportunity to make a pun. Though, hearing everything that his companions were saying due to his telepathic communication, Ethan couldn't help but shake his head at Artorius' rather poor attempt at word play.

"Seriously?" Ethan groaned.

"Shut up," Artorius replied.

Venturing downward into what was almost surely a restricted area even with a disguise donned was risky business. This was something that Kylee was incredibly familiar with. After all, this wasn't exactly the first time she impersonated someone or infiltrated an area. Yet, she would made do, she simply had to find the right time and opportunity. As the woman stood on the cat walk, doing her damn best to patrol the area just like the others, she suddenly faded out of visibility as soon as she spotted a vulnerability in their patrol pattern. As soon as there was a gap in their vision, she suddenly teleported from her current location and near-instantaneously reappeared just at the top of the stairs. A quick trot down to ascend, and suddenly she was down at the bottom level. Some conveniently placed crates were enough for her to hide behind. From there, Kylee observed the scene before her eyes, though her eyes were especially glued onto the image of the fist-sized gemstone that was being moved down here.

Unfortunately, simple waltzing in and snatching it wouldn't be easy. These Whalers were professionals, and there were a lot down here. Besides that, while her magic was incredibly useful it wasn't as suited to direct confrontation as a more offensive type of magic would be. Timing, execution, and positioning. Among other things, these facets of a roguish line of work were incredibly important.

Pulling herself up from her current position, climbing up a nearby pipeline and then hoisting herself onto the rafters, she crawled her way just over the heads of those holding the gemstone to transfer into a vault. She couldn't let them seal it, as that would certainly make this heist longer than it needed to be. Get in, get out, that was the plan.

Artorius had his hands full at this point but there was a problem. Given the way that they weren't sending reinforcements after him, Artorius had a feeling that they weren't fully buying his gambit. The Whalers were smart. They likely realized at some point that he was simply a distraction, something that wasn't necessarily anticipated. Luckily, there was a bit of room for error, but this was also at Kylee's expense. Swinging his blade, culling the last of the Whalers whose attention that he had managed to successfully occupy, Artorius quickly began making his way towards the warehouse.

"They're not fully buying the distraction. Careful, Kylee, don't do anything too hasty."

Unfortunately, the woman had quite little choice but to seize the opportunity, for better or worse. Letting them secure the gem in that vault would only prove problematic in the future. Choosing to act now, Kylee leaped from the shadows in the rafters. As the woman's knees struck one of the Whalers hard in the back of his head he immediately fell unconscious. Darting away, rolling from grasping hands and drawn blades, the woman suddenly teleported herself up into the air. Leaping down, she landed on the shoulders of one of the Whalers. Legs locked tightly around his head, she twisted her hips, putting the man down with an audible sickening snap.

Moving from her position, she eliminated the rest of the Whalers with a bit of difficulty. It proved surprisingly easy, almost too easy, but she wasn't going to complain about the results so far. "I'll be taking this~," she murmured to herself as she took the gem in her hands, pocketing it for safekeeping. But, mere moments after she took it into her grasp the sound of metal shutters slamming echoed all throughout the warehouse could be heard.

Meanwhile, realizing the apparent danger that was likely to occur, Artorius had stormed his way into the warehouse. Though, not long after he entered, metal doors shut behind all possible exits. "Well, that's just a bother," Artorius shook his head as he tightly clutched the hilt of his short sword. Though, the situation quickly grew worse as the owner of the gemstone emerged, and I'm not talking about the one who stole it. Though, realistically this bloke probably stole it himself. He was selling it to a fence, after all.

"You come into my place of business and you steal from me? Not once, but twice? Do you know who you're messing with?!" the man roared as he furiously clutched the slide and handle of his pump-action shotgun.

"Not particularly," Artorius replied with a shake of his head.

"Nope, not really," Kylee spoke as she emerged from the stairs, joining Artorius on the main floor of the warehouse.

"Well, why don't I show you!"

Click. Click. Boom.

Guns.

Artorius hated fighting people with guns.

They were weapons with little finesse, and frankly they tend to be gaudy and instill within the user a sense of overconfidence at times. Nevertheless, Artorius knew enough not to underestimate them. He had been shot at way too may times, and he had been actually shot a few more times than he is comfortable with. Of course, the number he's comfortable with would be zero, but the point nonetheless remains the same.

Now, they couldn't necessarily rush at the guy willy-nilly. That would be tantamount to suicide at this point, and certainly both Artorius and his female companion Kylee were the sort to value their own lives a bit too much to be so reckless. Yet, they needed an opportunity of some sort, and they needed to find one fast as Ethan would quickly point out.

"Enemy hostiles on the way. It's the Whalers."

Artorius and Kylee simultaneously breathed a combination of a collective sigh and groan at the thought of having to deal with more enemies coming at them. The thought of this made either of them realize that trying to fight through way through all this wasn't actually a good idea. They were both thieves, running is what they're good at, after all. Unfortunately, while Kylee could easily teleport about, she needed to see where she was going. Not only that, she could only teleport herself and whatever she was holding onto, people not included. The alternative was breaking out of here. Certainly, Artorius could smash through the walls or even the metal doors, but he would need some time.

"We can't fight them. We don't have that kind of time. We need to break out of here. Think you can buy me some time?" Artorius turned towards his companion.

"One distraction coming up. But, wait a moment, wasn't being a distraction your job?"
Kylee scoffed at him.

"Let's be honest. You're more distracting to look at than I am to these guys."

"Can't argue with that logic."

Artorius stuck to the shadows, channeling magical energy within his body. It was a time consuming process, but absolutely necessary if they were to get out of this alive. Sticking around and fighting wasn't exactly a good idea, so they needed a getaway. Breaking out was just the way to do it, and Kylee was going to buy him that critical amount of time that he needed.

The woman accomplished this by teleporting about in rapid succession, delivering a flurry of kicks at the various Whalers that were flooding into the building from the rear entrance of the building. Of course, that did beg the question as to why they didn't simply leave through that entrance. Of course, it was due to the fact that it was teeming with bloodthirsty mercenary gang members which didn't exactly bode well for them.

Of course, try as she might, simply kicking some dudes around wasn't exactly buying too much time. Luckily, at the top of the warehouse, hanging from the rafters, were thick nets containing wooden crates. Blinking towards it and landing squarely on top of the net and crates, a well-placed swing of her dagger cut the the ropes. Blinking back to Artorius' side, she grinned as she watched the crates fall over the heads of about a dozen Whalers. Even more of them were blocked or otherwise slowed down by the rubble that impeded their path.

Kylee's actions had effectively managed to buy Artorius enough time to blow a hole in the wall. Roaring, a stream of smoke tore through the softer part of the wall, tearing through it like a hot knife through butter. Teleporting and sprinting outward respectively, Kylee and Artorius made a mad, hellish dash on the way out of there.

Of course, their escape had only just begun. The Whalers were in hot pursuit. They had a reputation to uphold, after all. It wouldn't exactly look good on their resumes if they were made to look like fools by just two people, but the two thieves were nonetheless determined to get out of this alive with loot in tow.

Dashing through the docks, Kylee blinked upwards on top of a metal storage container before offering a hand to her companion. After being pulled up, Artorius joined her in a dangerous run across the tops of numerous more containers, climbing and jumping as necessary.

"Is it me or..." Artorius began before suddenly being cut off by his companion.

"...is this nostalgic? Familiar? Pick one!" Kylee grinned back at him as they both mutually slid on their knees, just barely avoiding a volley of gunfire that most certainly would have reduced them to little more than Boscan cheese -- full of holes. Careening around the corner and very nearly crashing in the process, they quickly approached a dock with a single jet ski. Taking the opportunity, Kylee leaped onto the driver's suit, leaving Artorius to ride along at the back.

"Why do you get to drive?" Artorius curiously replied with his eyebrow cocked slightly.

"Cause I've seen how you drive, stupid!" she spat back as she revved the engine, pulling out of the dock before speeding along the waterfront.

As they sped through the water along the edge of the docks, the pair were quickly joined by a fleet of Whalers on jetskis on their own. Without guns of their own they were severely outgunned. Not to mention they were outnumbered in the first place. Nothing too new for Artorius though, but they needed to pull something crazy to get the hell out of here. Using whatever throwing knives he had on his body, Artorius kept the Whalers honest at the very least. Though, miraculously Artorius had managed to properly lead his shots and took out at least two of the enemies. Yet, that was hardly a dent in their numbers. Somehow, they had to lose them.

"There's a ramp coming up ahead. You might be able to use that to lose them!" Ethan's voice boomed in their heads, rattling their noggins. Artorius might have been annoyed by the sheer noise that came with that if not for the fact that Artorius could barely hear in the first place. The sound of a half dozen jet ski engines and the accompanying splashing and splitting of water was almost deafening. Nevertheless, while Ethan's idea seemed absolutely nuts, it wasn't like they had any alternatives.

But first, they had to survive to get to the ramp. Collecting magical power in his fist, Artorius threw it out behind him. Two prongs of the harpoon he hurled outward struck home, causing one of the Whalers to flip off his vehicle and land hard in the water. The other was much less fortunate, with the engine of his vehicle exploding between his legs. Yet, four other riders remained.

They were quickly approaching the ramp. They could definitely make use of it but it would all be in vain if they were able to use it to jump across behind them. Luckily, Artorius had a plan, and the Whalers certainly weren't going to like it. As they neared the ramp, Artorius gathered more magical power in his hand, holding steady onto the jet ski to balance himself. Revving the engine and pushing the throttle to the limit, Kylee guided them towards the ramp at top speed. As they became airborne, Artorius reacted just in time and hurled smoke along the ramp.

Smoke rapidly condensed and solidified, turning into a veritable forest of spikes. The first jetski rider that rammed into it was most unfortunate, suffering a very painful series of rather grievous wounds. Not only that, he was also hit by the rider just behind him, slamming hard and causing a messy explosion that was made even messier by the shrapnel from the solid smoke spikes. The other two riders rapidly slowed down, turning away from the ramp.

Meanwhile, our two roguish heroes were hurtling through the air at a breakneck pace. Somehow, they managed to avoid flipping or tumbling over, keeping the vehicle on a straight path. Not only that, it landed relatively smoothly on a flat plane, keeping its momentum as it moved forward. Though, the pair screamed and shouted along the entire ride, especially as the bottom of the jet ski beneath them began tearing itself apart from the friction.

Amusingly, it slowed to a rather peaceful halt once it lost its momentum, leaving little more than the seats that the two had been sitting on. Glancing at one another, they breathed a sigh of relief.

"I never want to do that again," said one.
"Let's do that again," said the other in unison.

It was then that they began to burst into laughter while Ethan, back at the HQ, quietly face palmed.

Contrary to the frankly uncomfortable amounts of exhiliration Artorius had experienced just moments ago, the rest of the journey towards the ARGENT base was remarkably quiet. Unsurprisingly, they were both drained after their efforts. Even if they were veterans at this sort of thing, theft and running from danger certainly took a lot out of you. This was especially so if things go wrong, and frankly, things usually do. Though, the sheer clusterfuck that they had experienced was especially noteworthy. Yet, Artorius was nonetheless content over the fact that they had miraculously managed to get back out of it alive, with little injuries to boot. Certainly, the man had a few cuts and scrapes but nothing too significant, luckily. Kylee was essentially in the same boat, which was somehow a bit surprising given her lack of armor of any sort.

Hitting the passcode on the door once they made their way to the warehouse, Artorius led the way inside. For once, the godforsaken damnable otherwise-blinding fluorescent lighting was a godsend to him. While the place didn't necessarily feel like home, not by a long shot, it was certainly a warm welcome when compared to being chased around by way too many armed dudes. Artorius breathed a sigh of relief, glad to get a job well done. Though, at the same time, he couldn't help but to remind himself this was just the start. He had successfully managed to recruit his childhood friend into this little squad run by a government intelligence division, but there were still others that he had to find and recruit. Not only that, but once assembled they still had even more work ahead of them.

Yet, for now, Artorius had to put these things in the back of his mind. He and Kylee parted ways for the night, each heading to their separate beds. Artorius slept like a rock, not even changing out of his dirty clothes, having just barely enough time and energy left to throw off his armor that went over it.

Artorius woke up sore as all hell. His body ached, a tell-tale sign that he had certainly worked hard the day before. Though, the mroe he thought about the more he wondered if he was actually getting paid for this in the same way that Ethan and Kylee were. Or, and he sincerely hoped that this wasn't actually the case, was he simply working in exchange for information on Serana? Artorius hoped that, somehow, he was getting both out of the deal. While he wasn't doing this for money, a little bit of pay never hurt.

Though, what did hurt was when Ethan alerted him and instruced him to join the others in the meeting room. Damn telepathy was always so damned loud inside of his head. Groggy, Artorius slipped into a change of clothes, realizing that he had fallen asleep in what he had wore the night before. Shaking off the sleepiness, the thief trudged and marched on towards the meeting room, hating each and every bulb of fluorescent lighting that blinded him on the way there.

Emerging, Artorius noticed that the others were already there waiting for him. Projected onto the screen was another dossier. It was certain that it was another member of this little Suicide Squad that was being formed here. But, the person on the dossier was another person Artorius knew quite well. Another pain in the ass.

DOSSIER: THE BLACK GALE

PROFILE #4848679
NAME: Kagura
KNOWN ALIASES: The Black Gale
GENDER: Male
AGE: 21
HAIR COLOR: Brown
EYE COLOR: Brown
HEIGHT: 187cm
WEIGHT: 83kg

A mercenary swordsman notorious for his skill with the sword and magic as he is infamous for his eccentric personality. Yet, his skill when he takes fights seriously eclipses this. He has served on numerous campaigns and operations as mercenary, both employed as a client for the Government and Knights of Fiore, but also as an enemy.

"Really...? This guy?"
Artorius spoke with a raised eyebrow as he crossed his arms. He liked Kagura and thought of him as a close friend, but he was a difficult guy to take seriously even in the best of situations. His combat ability rivaled Artorius' own without certain, but he was certainly a bit more than just 'eccentric'.

"Really? I think he's kind of cute," Kylee spoke with a soft chuckle.

"You've worked with Kagura before, Artorius? What's he like?" Ethan asked with genuine curiosity.

"He's a tough guy, but..." Artorius' voice trailed off, as if unwilling to finish his statement.

"What?!" Ethan and Kylee spouted in unison.

"He's also a bit of an idiot."

To be continued on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z.
