Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Well, this wasn't good.

"Not good," said a mask.

"Not good," repeated another.

Monkey had to find a way to save his own butt, and fast. He was no ventriloquist, talking would only get him caught, and his masks were audible to him alone, so he couldn't talk. Showing himself was obviously suicide begging to happen, and showing the masks- wait a moment. Showing the masks? That was it! Monkey closed his eyes, focused himself on controlling his masks, making them visible. Since he was in the box, he had to guess how far away to put them, levitating in the air. He concentrated, and waited to hear a reaction.

"Hey boss, when are we gonna get a rais- boss. Boss, what is that?"

Bingo.

"That's a crate you two are carrying, numbskulls, not hurry up and put the rest of them on the cart, we don't have all day to- what the !@#$ is that!"

Three masks were floating in the air, almost a full meter away from the crate - just floating there, each placed a small distance from the other like three men. In the following few moments, a series of events occurred in rapid succession.

First, the crate within which Oami was in fell to the ground in a loud crash, sending the crate toppling to the side - Oami had to quickly grab the lid just to prevent it from flying away and revealing everything.

Secondly, one of the three, a muscular adult man, actually completely chickened out. "Boss, th-this place is haunted! I knew it!" He yelled, and next Oami could hear the sounds of rushed footsteps leading away from where he was at.

Roughly at the same time, the sound of a gun being drawn could be heard, and then the rapid fire of gunshots - though he couldn't see it, Oami would well bet that those were aimed at his masks. No matter; the masks were illusionary, and bullets passed harmlessly. More importantly, Oami had to animate them. The three masks moved around slowly, as if walking, in random directions as Oami could not observe the situation.

"Bert! Get back here! !@#$ damn it - Ernie, get rid of these things, I'm going to go shake some sense back into that idiot!"

"Yes, Boss!

And then the sound of more footsteps, running away. That left one guy, who now pulled out a baton - not that Oami could see it - and began to swing at the masks wild reckless abandon, despite the fact that the masks were going through every hit.

In the meantime, Oami began to slowly lift the lid off the crate, peeking around cautiously. "...Where'd the other guy go?"

The sense of panic was starting to subside in Trevor. He wasn’t sure just exactly what Monkey had done but it was both terrifying and effective. He’d never actually been in the presence of magic before and he felt strangely glad that he was never one with any aptitude for it. At least if he was going to use his sword, he’d be in control of it completely. He always worried about what would happen if magic ran amok. However, he had to focus now. He peered around the edge of his hiding place and failed to see anyone. It seemed whatever was going on, it had moved out of the room.

The lean young man darted over to the crate and hauled his companion out. Just be cautious, he dragged him back behind the curtain again and spoke in a low, urgent whisper.

“Well they seem to be out of this room at least. Should we try and figure out where they are? Perhaps if we can just get to the doorway here, we can see. Maybe if it’s possible, you can distract them again and we can make a run for it?”

Trevor couldn’t help but feel a surge of energy in this tense situation. It was as though his body craved such a thrill and was letting him know it. In spite of the danger, he was quite excited.

"Thanks," Oami whispered back, for his makeshift companion's saving of his butt. "Alright then..." He paused for a moment, thinking. "My masks are limited in both the distance they can go and the power they have, so at the count of three, you run straight for the door and open it; I'll run over there-" he gestured towards one of the larger crate piles, which the security guard was getting ever closer to- "And push those on him, then I'll follow you, and we'll see where we go from there."

Already, the guard was beginning to figure out that maybe the masks weren't at all as hit-able as he originally presumed, meaning that they didn't have much time left. "One...two...Three!"

At the count of three, Oami directed his masks to at once pull away, attracting the guard's attention away from the direction of the door. At the same time, he himself ran out from the curtains, and with the urgent desperation of a cornered animal he rammed himself into the pile of crates that he'd pointed towards earlier, sending the pile toppling down onto the poor man with the baton. The impact pulled him to his momentary limits, causing his masks to vanish back into their invisible states, as well as flying back around him. It knocked the wind out of him, that was true - but he was a victim of many a lesser acrobatic practice session gone wrong. He could handle it, running into something, getting back up, and moving again.

The Monkey didn't even look back, as he made a one-eighty and fled towards the door. "Out, out, out!"

There was no time to think, just time to run. Trevor was definitely good at running. He had long legs and lungs used to training runs up and down mountainsides. He pelted past the fallen man and took the stairs two at a time, not bothering to look back. There were assorted bellowings behind them but Trev just ignored them. He was right on Monkey's heels now and they eventually charged out of the building, but they were seemingly unopposed. They stood panting at the entrance and the lanky young man leaned up against the wall while trying to gain his breath again. He glanced across at Monkey and raised an eyebrow.

"So now where the heck do we go? There doesn't seem to be much of anywhere we can actually hide or get away without paying for rooms. Maybe Trillium's the wrong place for us? Or do we just go our separate ways?"

Standing there right in front of the building, with a hand resting on the wall for support, gasping for breath, Oami couldn't even muster up the energy to answer his companion for a few moments. Even then, still panting, he slowly answered Trevor - looking around all the while. "Well, I don't know about you," he said, "But I think I'm going to find a less occupied place to stay the night." He looked to the sides cautiously, making sure that they weren't being seen - no one around, thankfully. Odd, though, that there were trees and bushes in this area; Oami could have sworn they weren't there when he entered the building.

Then he looked up, and it all made sense. "Well, I guess we don't have to worry about any of that yet," he added, staring upwards straight at the high ceiling of the indoor gardens that they were now standing in. "Maybe, just maybe, we somehow took the wrong set of stairs." He turned back, looked at the door they had just came from - it definitely looked like a building's entrance. A building within a building? Looking around, the realization hit the Monkey like a barrel of rotten bananas. "This building is a complex or something. Artificial buildings inside a building for workers or something like that. This place is...huge."

"Wow, we might even be underground," Oami said, now slowly walking around the deserted indoor space. "How large is this room, and how many flights of stairs did we go down? Do you remember?"

Somewhere in the distance, one could hear faint rushing footsteps.

Trevor nodded and laughed.

“I think that it’d be great to find a less occupied place.”

He noticed that his companion was staring around in confusion, but he couldn’t see why, at least not at first. He realized that Monkey was right after he had pronounced that they were somewhere different. The air was humid and heavy with thick growth all around them. It was nothing like Trillium’s outside environment.

The suppositions that the agile young man was making rang true for the teenager. He noticed how high the vaulted ceiling was and how far they seemed to be down in it. He paced around and felt a blast of air run across him. It seemed to emanate from a shaft cut into the rock above them. He stopped and thought before he replied to Monkey.

“I’d say this room is at least thirty feet long and maybe sixty wide. I have no idea how many flights we went down, when one’s running it tends not to register. The question is how this relates to what we saw upstairs? Ideas? I am voting for some sort of hidden factory related to the nefarious activities in this town.”

Oami nodded. "Sounds possible, especially with a city of this size. Shady, but I don't put anything above them by this point. A factory, though; how big would it be to need something like this? This room doesn't look like it has any uh, conventional use in a factory. No machines or anything. I would guess that maybe its part of a residential thing - like live-in factory apartments, you know?" However, that would be taking quite the extra mile to ensure employee satisfaction, something that he personally guessed wouldn't be an actual thing in a city known for its gangsters and red-light activities.

Oami walked around the large room, making sure to take slow and quiet steps - he was trying to peek through the windows or the glass part of the doors, checking for whatever was inside through them. "I'll take this side, you take that side. Tell me if you see anything that, you know, might help us get out of here. Or better yet, a place to stay a night. I don't know about you, but I'm getting a bit hungry, and on top of that there's not even a clock here to tell the time."

The glass part of the doors and windows definitely didn't look to be one-way; he saw all sorts of things on the other side. The first "building" looked like a storage unit, with a bunch of boxes in it- but he wasn't about to go that route again, not with what had just happened. The second "building" was entirely empty, which made it just as bad. "Actually, maybe there are no residential things here. Not that I see, at least."

Trevor sighed. Now they appeared to have wandered into some kind of plant growing facility. He was starting to become increasingly concerned. There was something vaguely wrong about the place. It was as if the geometry was ever-so-slightly out of kilter. It might just have been his overactive imagination but there was a wrongness here.

He cleared his throat and tried to sound confident as he’d been trained to do.

“I think we really do need to make our first priority leaving this place. I’m starting to get the distinct impression of something that’s really bad in here. I don’t mean like ‘thugs beating us up’ bad but more like ‘some kind of eldritch evil’ bad.

As if to confirm this statement, there was a strange noise off in one of the corners and as the pair turned to look at it, there was a large black tentacle that slithered out of the way. Trevor looked over at Monkey.

“Am I hallucinating or did you see that too?”

"Huh? What? Did I see what?"

Looks like the Monkey missed it by a moment. "What did you see?" The masked man asked, as he stood upright from where he was trying to look through a window. "Was it one of the guards? By the way, what's eldritch?" Fact was though, Oami himself didn't miss the sound, so now he also had reason for heightened alarm.

"Should we quickly find a place to hide, or what? I am not sure, I think I see something in this building, a schematics or blueprint of- wait a minute, this could be a map!" Whatever that blue thing in a frame behind the door of the building Oami was peering into now, definitely looked like it could have some utility for them.

As he continued to look on, Oami noticed something else in that building. Something green, large, at least the size of a big child, maybe an adult. Whatever it was, it had a crooked back and was walking in a most uneven manner, its arms flapping around its sides like useless appendages.

As he looked on in confusion, the thing turned around - and then Oami was looking on in horror.

"You're right, my friend. We need to get out of here. Fast."

Trevor came to the realization that, in fact, while he’d heard various elders use the word ‘eldritch’ before; it remained totally obscure to him as a word. He shrugged and observed wryly.

“Whatever it is, it isn’t good. I think it seems to refer to dark things that slither in corners like whatever it was that we saw. If this is what they keep in basements here, I really hope that the next place I stay puts me close to the top floor.”

He decided that words weren’t going to work now. Both of the young men were looking around quickly for some way out as the tentacled horror made a high-pitched chittering sound and began to move more quickly towards them, in spite of its shambling gait. In a moment of inspiration, Trevor drew his sword from under his cloak and charged towards a small tree. He began hacking hard at it and the keen edge of the blade bit in again and again.

There was a loud cracking noise and the tree began to fall. As it did so, it gained velocity and went crashing through the glass, so the moment it landed both of them were able to run onto it and make their way out of the room.

There was only one problem: now every guard in the vicinity was running towards the area. Sighing, Trevor sprinted for the gigantic pile of boxes and dove behind it. There was a moment where he thought they were done for but something strange happened. A siren began to sound and all of the guards stopped, froze and turned around. They all backed away slowly at first and then there was a general panic and they started to run.

The lanky youth shrugged and said, “I suppose we ought to make like them and run.”
