Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

The closer Cleia came to the tree, the more difficult it was to get through its defenses. And of course, the tree, intelligent for a photosynthetic organism, would not just sit idly by and allow her to make all her moves against it. As she contended with its vines, a thick branch suddenly came swinging from nowhere, aimed at her head. She was fortunate to have seen it, else it would have knocked her senseless immediately. It was too thick to be cut through, and so would have to be dodged. Cleia ducked her head and dropped into a crouch as the branch whistled overhead, then had to perform a rolling maneuver to avoid another branch that came swinging downwards. As she came to a stop, she felt a vine swiftly slither around her left ankle, and wrap firmly around it. Before she could utter a word, she found herself dangling upside down, with another branch coming in her direction.

She did not bother to try to cut the tendril that held her just yet, nor would she attempt to block the branch. It was annoying to admit, but the tree was somewhat faster than she was, and she would have to be very prudent in her interactions with it. So, rather than attempting to dodge or just stay there and get hit, Cleia held the bottom of her scythe firmly in both hands, while she pointed the top towards the incoming branch. The branch collided with the scythe's head, which shuddered in her hands, but held fast. The effect caused her to swing away from the branch, much like a pendulum. With one swift stroke, she severed the vine that had ensnared her, and performed a quick flip to land safely on her feet. In an instant, other vines came racing after her, and she had to back away, slashing at them to keep them at bay.

Eventually, she found herself more or less at the point where she had met with Brian. She sighed and shook her head. This would take longer than expected. The pink haired girl seemed to be saying something to Brian, and even though Cleia could not hear her words, the easy way with which she spoke told Cleia that it was very likely that Brian had known the trouble maker from somewhere before. At least, he had his gun pointed at her, so he was not going to ally himself with Pinkie anytime soon.

"Need a good plan... Wait, if I attacked that girl, maybe defeating her would bring this tree down, or at least immobilize it enough for us to hack it down..."

She began to make her way towards Brian and Pinkie, as her black scythe slowly disintegrated into runes and vanished.

Brian listened to Desire's pleading in mock terror when she said to stop looking at her with the expression he had. But he continued to look at her with disgust, contempt and an overall taste of betrayal. How could she do this? They fought side-by-side and now she goes around and does this. She said that she wasn't interested in making trouble with Fairy Tail and wouldn't get what she needed if she asked nicely.

She then pleaded with Brian to stay out of her way.

But Brian kept the target sights of his gun on her and even though it had been years since he moved his lips to speak he mouthed a set of words to her.

"Stop this, please."

His eyes looked around again and saw that the branches weren't attacking him and the connection was made that this tree monster was connected to Desire in some small way. And that was when he devised the idea that perhaps if he took Desire down then the tree would come down with her.

Brian could feel the cooldown nearing it's end for his spell and needed to stall Desire a little longer before he could make the shot again. He didn't know if the spell would have any effect on her but it was better than doing nothing at all. Even though she was once a comrade of his, he tried to summon up reasons he could hate her. That damn loud pink hair of hers. Her attitude that made her seem like she was better than everyone else. Any annoyance that could make him forget the time that they shared.

"Don't do this" he pleaded with his eyes.

Desire felt uncomfortable, being looked at like that by Brian, so she averted her gaze. "You look at me with contempt... like some kind of monster, it seems," she said, looking down at her hands, a sad expression now on her face. "But you don't understand... no, you can't understand what has driven me to this. Heck, it may even seem trivial to you; after all, a rich man would look with disgust at a pauper when he steals a loaf of bread." She raised her eyes again to look at Brian, and she saw him mouth a few words. "Stop this, please". The look he gave her was pleading.

Desire sighed. "What if I acquiesced to your pleadings? What benefit would be there for me? Everywhere I turn, I see only one thing that goes for all situations of life: the Law of the Jungle. Conquer or die. Dog eat dog. Only the strong survive. Fact is, when the tiger kills the deer in the forest, it has no grudges against the deer. But it will die if it does not kill. My case is similar." She sensed the black-haired brat move into the range of her Night Huntress Sense. It seemed the brat was approaching her, and so it was safe to assume that the brat was going to attempt to shift attacks from the tree and focus on her. Rather than turn her attention to the brat, Desire pretended as if her attention was focused completely on Brian, as he still pointed his gun at her.

"You're the one that has a choice, Brian. I don't really. So make it easier for us, and let me be... please." It was now her turn to plead. "The fact that we had to work together some time ago makes me unwilling to have to face you, but it gives me no choice, if you persist in my way." She stared silently at him, awaiting a response.

Cleia could see that Pinkie was conversing with Brian, even though the latter said no words. She had never considered this, but it could be that Brian was unable to actually speak. Regardless, they seemed to be passing across their messages manageably well; body language seemed to come into play a lot here. It was now accepted by fact as Cleia that these two had known each other before. In fact, with the way they both refrained from attacking each other, she could safely conclude that they had been more or less friends or allies in the past. Well, like Grandpa monkey used to say, and as she had seen in her life, from past events, people always changed. What was upsetting was how it was easier to convert someone from good to bad, than the other way around.

By now, calculating the tree's distance from some landmarks, the elfin mage was sure she had estimated the tree's furthest attack range. This would be useful in staying out of harm's reach while she readied her spells... unless the tree had some unused projectile attack of its own, or it could extend its branches further than it was currently doing. She slid to a halt and then jumped a little backwards, so that she was out of the way of the branches. She was now within earshot, though Pinkie's back was turned to her. This could be a very good opportunity for a sneak attack. However, Cleia decided to act otherwise.

Instead of launching an attack, she addressed Pinkie at a distance: "Um, permit me to interfere, though I don't know anything about you and you're supposed to be the enemy and all that... but if you guys have been on friendly terms in the past, then there's room for dialogue, right? I mean, we could always work something out that could favor everyone."

It would be so wonderful if Pinkie agreed with her and brought all this to an end. However, something at the back of Cleia's mind told her that she should have taken the shot...

When Brian heard Desire's pleading for him to stay out of his way as well as the vague bits of her past he saw how she was making the same mistake in evolutionary theory that so many of his own classmates made. That just because something works in the jungle doesn't mean that people should act the same way. It saddened him that people would use such an idea in such a barbaric method.

He felt his cooldown time run out for his simple shot spell. And he was about to use it but then he saw how there was a struggle going on in Desire. He could tell it from the way she spoke and the tone in her voice. That she didn't want to do this but she needed to. It was hearing that that made Brian second guess his strategy.

It was then that Cleia had stepped in and mentioned the idea that there was room to talk. And she was right.

Brian holstered his gun and held out his hand to Desire as if he was saying to her, "Stop this and come with us. We can end this before it gets worse."

He looked at Desire with hope and pleading her once again to stop what she was doing. He wanted her to see that there was a choice. That it didn't have to be like the way she thought. That it was all about "survival of the fittest" that this social evolutionary theory is a fallacy. He had hoped that by doing this he could bring another member into Fairy Tail and show her a better way of life.

Desire was surprised when the brat, rather than attack, as she had expected, asked her to come to the dialogue table. She turned to look at the black-haired girl, her large green eyes questioning, as she attempted to search the rune-mage's face for any signs of lying. It seemed there were none; perhaps the girl really was interested in dialogue. That would be wonderful; she wouldn't have to make more enemies, and less people would have to get hurt, although she wouldn't want to admit that she actually did care. A motion from before her caused Desire to turn back to Brian. He had holstered his gun, and his hand was outstretched towards her, an invitation, calling on her to leave whatever she was struggling to attain and come along with the Fairy Tail mages. Being the emotional creature that she was, Desire's eyes began to water, as she began raising her hand toward's Brian's outstretched limb.

Then she remembered the betrayal that had cost her her life at Kelpie Veil, her former home. She remembered that the face of a traitor never showed his heart. What if... what if these people didn't really care? Perhaps they would trick her into coming with them, then suddenly restrain her and turn her over to the authorities. Another betrayal... but fortunately for Desire, this was one that had not yet occurred, and thus could be averted.

A single tear fell from her eye, more out of the remembrance of the pain betrayal had caused her, but the tear did not reach the floor. She had raised her hand quickly and caught it in her palm, before clenching angrily, spurning Brian's hand. "No... the average human is selfish. You probably mean to betray me, don't you? Because it costs a lot less to just turn me over to the authorities, than to vouch for me and attempt to make me a better person. And I'm sure that's what you wanted to do, isn't it? Or worse yet, stall me until a much stronger member of your order came to take me down." Her face was a mask of livid rage now. "I cannot believe you. The only nice person I knew is dead!" Of course, a foolish conclusion, since it was logical to assume that if she had met a selfless person before, there would surely be others of a similar mettle.

The branch on which she stood suddenly launched Desire up onto a higher bough, where she gazed downwards at the Fairy Tail mages, before laughing a cruel laugh. "I really do hope you have some Fairy Tail back-up coming around, guys, because I'm certain you'll need it!" At the conclusion of her statement, vines rushed towards Brian with a frenzied motion, attempting to entangle him. A number would have gone for the brat as well, but she was out of reach... or not. A root would suddenly erupt from the ground under Cleia, with the hopes of launching her closer towards the tree, towards the waiting vines.

Pinkie seemed to be one with conflicting issues, and i looked like the words and actions of the Fairy Tail mages had found some place in her heart. That pleased Cleia, because even though she never shied away from combat, she preferred to spend her energies battling against the totally irredeemable bad guys. And Pinkie did not seem to be in that category. All that was left was for her to take Brian's hand, he would help her down from the monster tree, they would find a way to bring it down, and Brian and herself would convince the Guild Master to let Pinkie stay with them. Most definitely, their pleasant natures would rub off on her, and everyone would be happy...

... or not. Cleia was confused when Pinkie suddenly turned all hostile on them, but she wasn't too surprised. There was, after all, something her late friend, Gusto, always used to say: "Don't expect a bumper harvest just because you see your carrots germinating." Being too optimistic about a situation was more likely to cause disillusionments in the long run. Cleia, however, being the person she was, would still try...

"No, wait! On my honor, I would never..."

Her entreaty was only cut short by Pinkie's evil laughter and the taunt. Cleia's eyes would slowly narrow as she watched the pink-haired girl, her surprise giving way to slight anger of her own. Pinkie seemed to be very short-sighted if she believed that there were no more good people on earth. And if this was the path that Pinkie was going to toe, then it was their obligation as Fairy Tail mages to take her down. Cleia had to admit that she was disappointed, though. Brian, who had hitherto been exempted from the tree's troubles, now had vines to contend with. As for herself, the tree did not seem to concern itself with sending anything her way.

"So, it does have a boundary it cannot cross. Hmmm, maybe we could take advantage of that and..."

Without warning, a dark root burst through the concrete beneath Cleia, sending her into the air. She stared at the root, feeling a mixture of irritation and surprise... mostly irritation that the tree was out-thinking her. And then, she saw the vines waiting for her to fall plop! into them. Her eyes widened in alarm.

"Yikes! This tree is cooking up strategies like crazy. Okay, I'll never say that plants are dumb..."

Cleia twisted in the air and suddenly slowed down above the mass of vines and twigs that called itself a thinking tree. She stayed hovering in mid-air, then flew back to the same spot that the root had erupted from, but she did not touch the ground. Like this, she was safe from the tree, but her flying abilities would not last for too long. She sighed. She didn't like the idea of having to show all her abilities, when she didn't know what Pinkie was capable of.

However, she would have to start doing something, because that damned tree was giving Pinkie a lot of advantages in this battle. Cleia pointed both her palms outwards towards Pinkie, and a host of runes began spiralling into the space between her hands to form a singular ball. Then with a sudden ferocity, as Cleia yelled: "Katsu!" the ball burst into another spiral, this one resembling a galaxy formation, as a pale blue stream of energy blasted forth and headed in Pinkie's direction.

Brian wanted to contend with Desire's short sighted idea that there were no more good people in the world. It saddened him to think that people didn't see the good in one another. That was something that Aria had taught him through their years of growing up and marriage. He too had experienced the worst of what people could offer because of his handicap but that never mattered with her and that made everything right with the world.

He wanted to tell Desire that he would plead her case with Fairy Tail if she stopped what she was doing and surrendered peacefully. But that didn't happen as she was thrown up onto higher branches and she made her taunt and that was when a series of vines had rushed at Brian in a frenzy.

Going to his belt he pulled out the gun and took aim at the oncoming branches. The magic gathered at the end of the pistol and the target sight magic circle erupted from the end and he took his shot.

The vines didn't break apart like the way the branches did. Instead they just broke apart as if a very clumsy blade had cut through them. They fell to the ground and Brian looked up to see Desire standing over them like a queen looking down upon all her subjects.

He brought up his hand and waved at her to come down.

Desire was surprised to see that the brat began to fly unexpectedly, when the root that had emerged under her had thrown her closer to the tree. Hmmm... it appeared that runes were not all that the black-haired child was capable of using. Well, Desire was sure that the girl's ability to fly was not a permanent thing. Perhaps she would see when Cleia stopped flying, and assume that to be the duration of time in which the brat's levitation magic worked. In the meantime, there were other things to pay attention to.

The black-haired brat had begun to do some strange rune-thingy things, forming a ball between her hands. "Oooh, pretty--" Desire began, but was cut off from continuing in her speech, as a light blue wave of energy erupted from the ball and roared towards Desire. She fell backwards, the blast narrowly missing her as she flipped off her previous perch to land on another branch. "Okay, the weird brat can create weapons from her runes, as well as fire blasts, apparently unidirectional blasts. Let's hope those are the only things she does..." Desire thought, as she began attempting to make up a plan to bring the attack to Cleia, as she was unwilling to use her own magic just yet. Anytime she used it, she was reminded of her dark heritage, and even though she knew at the moment that she wasn't in her best behavior, a part of Desire had always struggled to be respected for being like her father. Unfortunately, that part was very weak.

Desire looked down to notice Brian waving at her to come down. She responded by waving back at him, the type of enthusiastic wave you give when you're on the bus and a good friend walking on the road calls out your name. Then she turned to look at Cleia, as she said, "Brian is nice. I'll be sure to try to be my best when dealing with him; as a matter of fact, if he doesn't interfere, I won't lay a finger on him. But you, little brat, now you are an entirely different matter." The branch on which Desire now perched began growing outwards towards Cleia, as Desire began to run in the direction of its growth. Pulling out her whip, she flicked it at the flying girl, aiming to hit her somewhere on the torso, as soon as Cleia was within the range of her whip's length.

Pity Desire didn't know that Cleia was actually older than she was.

Cleia simply watched as Pinkie evaded her 'Thunderclap' blast by performing an acrobatic maneuver. She did not visibly react, beyond the slightest raising of an eyebrow. While for all intents and purposes, she seemed to be interested in giving Pinkie a staring down contest, she was analyzing her opponent as keenly as she could.

"Okay, i have two assumptions. Firstly, this girl probably uses some form of tree magic, but at least the tree seems to be immobile, else this would have been more troublesome. I'll have to watch out for the roots, though. Secondly, I'll bet my sixty thousand jewels that Pinkie has had a form of physical training, judging by the way she dodged the Jinrai. Can't say anything about her strength and speed, though..."

As she observed Pinkie, she couldn't help but feel a little irritated at the way Pinkie's mood had swiftly shifted from emotional to flighty, once more. Maybe all the tears had just been melodrama, or perhaps the girl just didn't like to dwell on sour emotions for long. Be that as it may, Cleia didn't have much time to spend pondering Pinkie's behavioral patterns, as the girl joined the battle, obviously aiming to do Cleia some hurt. Cleia gave a light scoff at her comment, and replied in an even tone, her calm expression concealing her peeved emotions perfectly:

"Pfft! Like I could trust you to behave nice. I'm not even going to try playing 'nice', because you've stubbornly fixed yourself on this evil path, and it's my obligation to stop you, before innocent people get hurt. And..."

At this pause, Cleia gestured, holding out her hands, as a slender scythe formed in her open palms. "...'little brat?' Seriously? You seem to be the kind of girl who jumps so easily to conclusions. That's a little too naive for a villain persona, wouldn't you think?"

She floated a bit backwards, and a little lower, as she was aware that any moment now, the Iridescent Ring's magic would give way, and she would drop to the ground. Also, she preferred to battle Pinkie as far away from the tree as possible, so that it would not offer any serious support. As Pinkie cracked the whip, Cleia twirled the pole weapon and presented it in front of her chest. The whip would come in contact with the staff of the scythe, and then, Cleia would yank at it with all her might. While whips offered a good range advantage, they were usually difficult to disentangle immediately, once they got wrapped around something. If Cleia was stronger than Pinkie, Pinkie would likely lose that whip, or risk being dragged off the tree. If Pinkie, on the other hand, was stronger, all Cleia had to do was dismantle the scythe's pole at the point where the whip had wrapped around it, and thus release the whip.

She dropped to the ground at this point; it would be harder for Pinkie to drag her while her feet were on Mother Earth, as opposed to being in the air. In a slightly taunting voice, she added, "I'm probably older than you, Pinkie."
