Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Part 1 of this Arc

Magnolia was in a lull, with the large city apparently at rest in the early hours of sunrise. A thick mist, having blown in from the Eastern Forest, pervaded the entire city, lending a sort of magical quality to its sights. In essence, the sight was surreal. One who laid his eyes on the city would never believe that some time in the not so distant past, Magnolia had been the subject of a brutal demonic invasion. And while the city had apparently healed, at least as far as structures and buildings were concerned, it was quite likely that all who survived the demon onslaught would have that event forever branded into their memories. People like Desire du Melange.

The pink-haired half-demon girl sat on a high banister atop a tower, as she appeared to gaze at the sights below her. In truth, however, her attention was turned inwards. Ever since the attack on Magnolia, Desire seemed to be getting more despondent. Her nightmares were more frequent, she was hardly ever in a good mood, and there was that unbearable loneliness. The urge to engage in wild escapism was becoming more and more attractive. Maybe this was the first step to attempting suicide.

Whichever the case, today seemed like it would be different. For the night before, Desire had been contacted by a strange man who had a crazy plan: he wanted to steal from Fairy Tail, Magnolia's guild. And he needed someone to help him handle the mages... at least distract them, while he did his stealing and then extracted her from any possible sticky situations. Why he had chosen to enlist Desire's support, she didn't know. And why she felt inclined to believe and assist him, she couldn't say either. All the same, the girl had agreed to help him, as long as she would get something out of the heist. And so the next morning, she sat atop the tower, with four strange, heavy seeds in the palm of her left hand. The instruction had been to put them in water, and allow whatever resulted to run its course. She had also been given a vial of an oddly smelling substance that would prevent the major distraction she would spring from attacking her.

Dropping the seeds from that height, Desire watched as they disappeared into the mist, aware that the lack of wind would ensure their fall into the fountain beneath. There was an ominous silence, then a loud cracking sound, as a huge monster tree sprung up, its branches and vines twisting as it grew and caused havoc in its growth. Dropping from the banister, Desire didn't have far to fall before she landed on a thick branch belonging to the tree. It swung its branches to and fro and shuddered, but made no effort to dislodge her. She nodded to herself and sat down on the branch.

Act one had begun: bait the fairies.

It was not every time that one took an early morning walk to clear the senses before the day's work. That, of course, was provided one was not so dead tired that they could not peel themselves off the bed. Cleia Everest, one of Fairy Tail's shortest, was in the category of the former. She was out at such an early hour, hands in the pockets of her hooded jacket, as she drifted pensively through Magnolia's empty streets. It was the best time she could take the stroll, as once the sun spread its glorious rays across the sky, the people of Magnolia would begin their ever busy day. She didn't have to fear being nabbed, assaulted or mugged, because, thankfully, Magnolia was a safe place to live in... relatively, of course.

It was a therapeutic exercise, this walk, especially since there had been so much crazy activity of recent. After the Demon Invasion that shook all of Fiore, it was nice to have such peace and quiet, with no strange, evil anomaly to ruin the stillness, allowing a form of mental healing that noise and bustle could only mimic, but never accomplish. Little did Cleia know, that in the next few moments, all the tranquility would go down to hell in two hand baskets.

Of course, she didn't hear the hushed plopping sounds, as the seeds that had been dropped by the mysterious troublemaker fell into the fountain, but she certainly felt the ground rumble beneath her feet, and heard the crack of concrete as gargantuan roots split the fountain asunder, and a tree of large proportions twisted upwards and spread its branches towards heaven. Cleia stared at it as it ascended in height, her eyes slowly getting wider as it grew. She wondered if this was another invasion, and then she eventually decided that it was not. However, she was certain that the tree was not benign, and would not offer fresh fruit to passers-by as an act of arboreal good will.

She considered her options; running was one of them. However, this tree posed a threat to the entire town, and in a little matter of time, the Magnolians would begin to come out of their houses. And they would be in the line of danger. She could call for help, but her doing so might still expose people to harm, while she was seeking aid. As a mage of Fairy Tail, Cleia knew that she had an obligation to protect the city. And while she was hardly a powerful mage, she could perhaps keep the tree from harming anyone, until some other Fairy Tail mage came to assist. or, she could destroy the tree... which was not likely.

Her gaze took on a determined frown, and Cleia pulled her hands out of her pockets, and ran towards the street that would lead her to the fountain.

The day started off as uneventful. Brian was hoping that he would just head on over to the Guild Hall, peruse the mission board and see about landing another job for himself. By his own count he had managed to complete two D-class missions and he needed a couple more before he could move on up to C-class. Along with that, he knew that he needed to try to upgrade his own abilities and try to develop new spells. His Simple Shot was gaining more power, accuracy and distance but if there came a time when something big were to happen it probably wouldn't be enough.

Thoughts of this occurred to him while he was showering. A habit that would annoy Aria at times because of how he was "wasting hot water" and "steaming up the bathroom too much" but he did it anyway. He continued to mull over the thoughts of his magic while he was getting dressed and eating breakfast. He came to the thought that it would be nice if he could learn the "re-quip" ability of "The Gunner". He read about it in a few magic books where one could summon weapons at will. But that was a goal that had to wait until he could gain more control over his own abilities.

After getting dressed in his normal clothes, including his Gunmage Robe he headed out noticing all the other vacant apartments along the way down the stairs and to the street.

On his way to the Guild Hall he heard a rumbling in the ground that was like an earthquake and a series of screams. He turned his head towards the screams and found several plant like vines jutting up over the roofs of the houses and buildings. Given the reputation that Fairy Tail had for causing destruction, Brian was confused as to whether someone was letting their magic get the best of them or if there was a legitimate emergency.

Not wanting to take any chances, Brian headed towards it.

He saw it, the monster that looked like some perverse fusion of magic and trees with its branches and vines flaying about like tentacles of an octopus.

He then looked around to see if any other members of Fairy Tail had arrived. And there in front of him, he found another member of Fairy Tail. He had seen this girl before with her jet black hair pulled into a pony tail with cornrows braided at the sides of her head. Then there were her electric blue eyes, the way she wore an A-shirt and denim pants. but most of all it was the electric blue Fairy Tail symbol that was located at the top of her back. Part of it was obscured by her black hair but Brian knew the symbol anywhere.

He went up behind her tapping her on the shoulder hoping that she would turn around. He held up his hand showing his Fairy Tail symbol to signify that he was a wizard ready to fight.

Desire sat dangling her feet as she remained perched on the branch of the monster tree which trashed the square into whose fountain she had dropped its seeds. People were running to get out of the reach of the plant, and to an extent, Desire was glad they had the common sense to run. The idea of this whole exercise was to simply call out Fairy Tail mages, and keep them distracted with the tree, while she and her 'associate' managed to steal the mysterious artefact which he had told her was residing in the Fairy Tail guildhall. Although Desire had her own morality flaws, she did not appreciate innocent bystanders getting harmed while she carried out her work.

Then she noticed a 'child' running towards the tree. The half-demon girl sighed and shook her heads. Brats of nowadays; what business did they have thinking they were too important to be harmed. She rose to her feet and placed a hand on the trunk of the tree on whose branch she stood. From her height, she was too far away to make any serious discernments about the kid's features, but the height of the raven-haired girl was enough to suggest a child in Desire's mind. Before she could call out, another figure joined the child. Brown hair and skinny. Probably a concerned bystander come to herd the brat to safety... only that this 'concerned bystander' was not attempting to move the brat away.

"Oi, down there," the pink-haired girl called out, looking down at the two faraway figures, "I wouldn't just stand there if I were you...."

The tree, for its part, seemed to have an unknown sensory organ that made it begin extending a number of tendrils towards the gathered Fairy Tail mages.

Cleia turned around sharply when someone touched her shoulder. Seeing the monster tree had made her edgy, but not jumpy enough to attack blindly. And a good thing she didn't, since the person who touched her was not an enemy. The first thing she saw though, was a long pea coat. Okay, sorry... the person wearing the pea coat was quite tall, and her own height only served to make him look taller. She was sure that she had seen him before. He was holding out his hand, and as she looked at it, she noticed the Fairy Tail insignia in his palm. That was good news. He was a guild member alright, and if she remembered correctly, he was a very quiet person, more quiet than herself even, because she had never heard him speak. Well, that was another matter for another day.

"Splendid! We can take this thing down much faster..."

Fairy Tail members usually had a good sense of team work, since they considered each member as family. So, she couldn't have asked for a better ally. Just as she was about to voice her strategy idea, she heard a voice above. Looking up into the tree, she noticed a pink haired girl who couldn't be older than herself. In fact, if not for the fact that she looked like a little teenager, she was probably chronologically older than this girl. She noted the odd tattoos that glowed on the girl's shoulders in the waking light, and wondered why the girl would warn them about the tree, since she was apparently the one who was responsible for it. Most other villains would shout some silly, corny, grandiose comment and wait for the tree to smash its victims to smithereens. Cleia would have asked her why she cared, but maybe there was something more to this situation.

The time to stand and think, or even reply was very short, because the tree seemed to notice their presence, and began sending vines in their direction. Cleia nodded to Brian and said, "Let's do a little deforestation, shall we?" So saying, she charged towards the tree, her hand closing around a spiraling bunch of runes which had quickly gathered to form a short staff. From the top of the staff, a burst of runes erupted to form a solid, black curved blade, much like a sickle. This she used to begin hacking her way towards the tree's base. If it concentrated much on her, her nakama should be able to use that distraction to his advantage.

Brian heard the voice coming from above and he looked to see a pink haired girl calling down to them. She had said that he and his Fairy Tail comrade shouldn't stand there. It was at times like that that Brian wished that he had his voice so that he could shout up to the pink-haired girl. He wanted to know why she was doing this. Was she a part of Fairy Tail and this was all some kind of sick prank? Or was she an enemy from a rival guild that was looking to start trouble.

By that point, the girl at his side said that they could take the thing down much faster. Brian wasn't sure about it given that the strength of his simple shot spell was still a little on the weak side but he was going to try as much as he could.

He went to his gun belt and pulled out his pistol and stood at the ready. He then looked to his comrade to see if she was ready as well and then he saw her magic in action. He watched the runes glow and spiral around her hand and gathered to form a short staff. The top of the staff had more runs that were collecting together like flies gathering on a rotting carcass and from them a solid black curbed blade erupted.

After she charged towards the tree to begin her "deforestation".

Knowing that his range wasn't that great, Brian made his charge towards the tree, closing the distance and increasing the effect of his spell.

When one of the vines came at him, he took aim, the magic began to gather at the end. Once it was charged a magic circle erupted from the barrel that looked like a glowing and elaborate target sight.

He pulled the trigger and a great blast shot out and broke the tree branch off.

"Good," he thought, "but I'll need to get in closer".

Desire stood and looked down at the pair as they made their way towards the tree trunk of the massive plant monster, a lopsided grin on her face. "Oh my, everyone seems busy today. And to think you guys didn't even try to make introductions with my large green friend here.... He's got a right to be angry with you guys," she called out, for the meantime feeling content to just stand and watch the Fairy Tail mages attacking the tree. And with her just watching, she could observe the magics of the tall brown-haired fellow, and the black-haired child. And speaking of the brown-haired fellow, was that a gun he had just pulled out?

"Brian?!" Desire asked mentally, suddenly remembering the name of the gunslinger who had made an unlikely alliance with herself and Riken when they were subjected to the madness of a strange horse-like creature with powers that were VERY unfair. Now that she looked closely, there was no mistaking it, it was silent ol' Brian. Which wasn't too surprising; he had informed her that he was a Fairy Tail member, and had even asked her to join the guild. But she wasn't keen on being held by the shackles of groups that would restrain her... or so she believed.

"Well, why don't we just say hello? It would be rude not to do so, right?" the half-demon girl mused, as she dropped from the branch she was on, and began making her way down the tree with acrobatic finesse. Then Desire dropped in a crouching position onto a branch directly in front of Brian, her pretty face in a grin.

"Boo!"

In the meantime, the tree was attempting to weave its thinner vines together to make thicker tendrils, ones that would not be as easy to cut as individual tendrils and branches.

It was a little infuriating the way the trouble maker just stood there and said silly things. Seriously? People were here, trying to get rid of this... thing that endangered both lives and property, and that girl was there, trying to be funny. Making introductions?! As Cleia pondered on this, her opinion of the girl became more confused. If she could judge character well, this girl was not a seasoned evildoer... perhaps just a prankster, or someone who was a neophyte that was trying to prove something to somebody. She ducked a branch and slashed through three tendrils in one chop. If Pinkie was the latter of her mental suggestions, then there was likely a stronger dark mage in the shadows, watching the outcome of this. Thankfully, if the situation got way in over their heads, Fairy Tail boasted of its own powerful mages, who hopefully were around... hopefully.

Cleia was feeling somewhat sarcastic this morning, so she replied, "Yes, he does. We, on the other hand, who are having our city vandalized, do not have any right to be angry with you guys. Oh no, we don't!"

She suddenly noticed that the girl had moved; she seemed to be making her way towards where Brian was. The tree, on the other hand, seemed to have a mind that was capable of thinking above primal instincts, as it began to react to Cleia's slashing by pulling tendrils together to form thicker limbs. Cleia smiled to herself, for while that would make cutting these tendrils more difficult, the tree would be unable to move those tendrils as fast as the thinner ones. So, they would be easier to dodge.

Cleia was sure Brian could take care of himself, but she was ready to rush to his aid, if the need arose. For now, she would make her way towards the base of the tree before her spell wore out. As she fought through the tree's limbs, runes began spinning out from the base of the short sickle weapon to lengthen its pole. At the same time, the blade on the staff would change shape slightly, to become more wieldy for a two-handed weapon. This would increase her cutting power, so as to overcome the monster tree's defenses.

Brian was already starting to regret his quick decision of using the simple shot so quickly. After the branch he shot at had broken off, several other branches were coming up upon him like the arms of an Octopus. He attempted to dodge them and he did managed to succeed given how they were just a few hairs slower than him. Unfortunately, some of them had managed to scrape against the cloth of his gunslinger robe. Not necessarily ripping it but he could still feel the texture of the branches and vines scuffing against it.

After dodging the onslaught he then saw another thick branch coming up in front of him rising like a hand out of water. It didn't look like it was going to attack it was merely holding it's position. Then he found out why when a pair of feet made contact with the thick branch.

Brian looked up and saw a pair of dark green eyes and loud pink hair. And the voice that he remembered saying, "Boo!"

It was her. Desire Du Melange. The pink haired mage that Brian had encountered during that Zodiac event and how they had dealt with that horse. Never before had Brian acquired such a distaste for horses since that event. But why was Desire doing there? The dots had already connected in his mind that she was the one who dropped the seeds and was causing this but why?

He looked at her, eyes narrowed and asking her in his quiet demeanor why she was doing this. He brought his gun up and took aim. Even though he knew that he wasn't ready to fire the simple shot spell just yet, he knew that people like this would often go into some oddly prepared speech about why they were doing what they were doing. It was high risk gamble and Brian was one to gamble.

That's why he would take some of his earnings from Fairy Tail and go over to the gambling halls and spend a little on throwing the dice.

"Why are you doing this, Desire?" He thought wishing that he had a voice to ask this and not waste time on writing a note.

He kept his sights upon her, all the while he kept glancing from one side to another to see if any other branch or vine was going to attack him.

Desire was interested to note that the tree seemed to be linked somewhat with herself, because it did not attempt to attack Brian, as soon as she made her way to talk to him. The brat, however, was a different matter, and Desire wasn't very much interested in saying anything to her... yet. So until that time, Desire would note how she used her strange magic, and when the time came to falling to blows, the half-demon girl hoped to gain the advantage. As for Brian....

She remained in her crouching position, her cheery grin meeting his stern, questioning squint, for a number of seconds, as she pretended to ignore his weapon trained on her. Then she groaned audibly and covered her face with both hands. "Stop it! Stop looking at me like that!" the girl said in mock terror. Then her mood became more sober. "I'll expect you want an explanation as to why I'm here, along with this big plant guy...." She looked over at the other Fairy Tail mage busy slashing away at the vines, then turned back to face Brian. "There's something I need, and it's somewhere in your guildhall. I'm not interested in making trouble with you Fairy Tail pixies, but I have the feeling I won't get what I want if I asked nicely. Soooooo... I'll have to take it."

The branch on which she squatted twisted, so that a good portion of it now was positioned between Desire and the gunslinger. "Since we both had to deal with that horse-thing together, let me give you some advice: please don't get in my way. I'm not sure we both might like the consequences."
