"Well, that was dull..". Darion walked quietly out of the mansion, it was late in the evening now and he had been at a meeting with a local landlord for quite some time now. He had been sent here originally by his father, his mission was to solve a dispute between the landlord, and a young rascal teenager from Darion's own family, the Steinheil family. Apparently, the boy (if you can call an older teenager a boy) had gotten drunk along with some friends and in their state of intoxication, destroyed some of the landlord's property. Then, arrogant as they were, refused to pay by using the argument "We are highborn". Under normal circumstances neither Darion nor anyone from the family would have cared too much; a common landlord (who was also a non-mage, making this even harder for Darion to apologise to) had nothing to put up against the Steinheil family. But, in this situation, there was a problem. This particular landlord was a long-standing ally of the family, and he was one of their key connections in this part of Fiore. So, without any further waiting, Darion was sent to apologise and take back the young man back to the mansion for..Disciplination. However, the discussions had gone a bit overboard, when the landlord refused to see him, claiming that this sort of incident required the Head of the family's personal presence. After a time of waiting, Darion's patience had run out and he had, more or less, walked into the room, apologised very quickly and taken the boy with him. Landlord tried to stop, but a broken nose can remedy much arrogance. After sending the boy away with an escort of Darion's own security, he started to walk through the city, his fine shoes and the cane the only things that could be heard more or less, apart from the random cat sounds from the alleys every now and then. He walked down the road over to one of the finer hotels in the city, which he was staying in. Because why not? After a long sleep, Darion felt much more at ease this morning than what he had the day before. It was his favorite weather too; grey clouds and lightning. After a long hot shower, he got all dressed as usuall, walked down and out of the hotel, and just continued to stroll down the road to find a good restaurant and tavern that did not look to shabby. |

She hadn’t expected Tully Village to be this peaceful, but she found that she actually quite liked the comfortable hotel she’d found. It wasn’t the nicest in the city, but it offered a great deal of privacy, and the beds were heaven. She’d liked it so much that she’d decided to stay an extra day, which was… rare. Especially because this place had none of the Such was the case that morning. She’d gone for a walk that morning, enjoying the stormy weather. Her only concession to the windy cold was to wear her thigh high boots were her black miniskirt, her favorite purple tube top barely containing her bust as usual. It wasn’t really cold, just storming… despite her sunny disposition, she actually quite enjoyed the weather. She had planned to just find something yummy for breakfast and sit and watch the rain from her hotel room. To that end, she’d entered a little ma and pop shop. She’d ended up talking to the matriarch outside, just having a nice conversation with her when her stomach suddenly let out a loud rumble. Laughing, the old woman had told her son to get her something to eat, grateful just for the refreshing company. So it was that she now had a bag of flaky pastries that were literally melting in her mouth as she walked the streets, smiling brightly. Her hair was down and she strode confidently, stopping only to pick up a raspberry hot chocolate. She had been waving at the little grandpa who sold it to her when she rounded the corner unwittingly. There hadn’t been many people on the street up until then, so she hadn’t expected to ram straight into something, or rather, someone, solid. ”Oh!” was her first exclamation, the second was ”Hot!” She had stumbled back a step, and her hot chocolate had been squished, the hot liquid sloshing out of her cup and all over the side of her shirt. She winced a bit. It was hot! And this was her favorite shirt! She needed to get it cleaned right away or it would be forever ruined! ”I’m sorry, I wasn’t really watching where I was going…” She smiled automatically as she finally looked up from her still stinging shirt to the person she’d bumped into. He was as dark as she was light, and his red eyes were mesmerizing. He was totally her type. She blinked once to clear her mind, then did a double take of his clothing. ”I didn’t get you with my hot chocolate, did I?” Her voice was concerned. His clothes looked very nice, and she really hoped she hadn’t ruined anything with her carelessness! At the same time, she was itching to run away. She didn’t like handsome men to see her drenched in hot chocolate! She didn't like anyone to see her in this state, actually. It was just worse that he was handsome to boot. As he was walking, he remembered that there was a restaurant not too far from his current location that had good food, good wine, especially the desserts were marvellous (they were probably made with magic to be honest), and not to mention that the owner was a very distant relative of his. The owner of the restaurant, Paul, had once belonged to the family via some shady ties, but had renounced his "membership" around ten years ago, claiming that he had found his passion in life. Running a restaurant. Granted, Darion had only been there once when he was very little, but it cannot have changed that much in all this time. Darion looked on the various houses as he used them to get a sense of where in the city he was. He knew the restaurant was close, but not in what direction it lay. After spending a heck of a long time (bad local-sense duh), Darion more or less just shrugged lightly and decided to go into the alley on his right, and just hoping that he would have an easier time remembering if he ventured out on the next street. But, as it always happens, the universe is a tard and does not like to give people what they search for without interfering one way or another. Just as he walked out of the alley and made a turn, he felt something bumping into him, and then something very hot on his chest. A large stain that looked like it was either coffee or chocolate was visible on his chest, hopefully removable Darion made a few cursing words on the family language and then proceeded to take a look at the nutcase who could not watch himself/herself when they walked. Darion put on a stone face as he saw the rather beautiful girl that had bumped into him. Cute face and well formed, it was sure that she was popular. She apologised for not watching when she was walking, and asked if the chocolate had hit him, Darion looked at her with her red eyes, and then - curiously enough - smiled vaguely and said in his gentleman fashion "It is but a stain young lady, nothing that will not go away with some cleaning. And I hope you did not hurt yourself?" Darion reached his hand out to her, as a sign to help her up. |

Youko couldn’t help but smile as he cursed. It was obvious that was what he was doing even though it was in a different language. Even more interesting was how his face turned to stone as he took a good look at her. She accepted his hand up, the touch feeling like fire on her fingers. She released his hand daintily and shook her head ruefully. Honestly, she replied, ”I’m no lady, that is no small stain, and as much as my side is stinging, I’m assuming your chest is probably smarting as well.” She was being frank, something a bit unusual for her, but his smile and the stare of his red eyes just made her feel all tingly, even though it was a vague smile and he had an appearance that most would describe as sinister. Ironically, she felt no fear, just interest in this boy who was probably a nobleman. ”I know sorry doesn’t really cut it however. I’d love to repay you to get your shirt cleaned, but in the meantime… I have these amazing pastries. Can I offer them to you as penance? Thankfully the pastries hadn’t been crushed in her fall, and she could always go back and get more later. Glancing down at the dark brown stain spreading across the light purple of her shirt, she shrugged sheepishly and continued, ”Though perhaps we should both change first. Hot chocolate is not a very comfortable accessory.” Yep, she still kinda wanted to run away. She hated appearing foolish, and the more she was rambling, the more foolish she felt. She’d had to stop herself from complimenting him on his eyes several times. While people often compared her eyes to emeralds, his were bright rubies shining from his pale face. She thought they were beautiful. She couldn’t help but think this was the meeting of the nobleman and the tramp, however. She didn’t know how to read his stony face, and doubted very much that he was interested in spending more time with her, though he was very polite for now. Really, he’d taken being doused with hot chocolate remarkably well, considering. She really wished she could tell what he was thinking about the blonde klutz who’d just put a bad spin on the beginning of his day. Good or bad, she just wanted to know what was going through his brain at the moment. And escape. She really wanted that too. She could feel a pretty blush rising to her cheeks, though she tried to suppress it. She hadn’t embarrassed herself this much in ages! |

Darion continued smiling as the woman accepted his hand, and once she stood up, she released it. She proclaimed that she was no lady, and came with the comment that considering the pain she felt, Darion also must feel some pain from the hot chocolate stain that was still clearly visible on his clothes. Darion chuckled lightly and replied while staring her in the eyes: "I see, however your beauty is with all certainty that of a lady, I can tell. And no, I am used to far worse pains than that, so no cause for worries[". Darion chuckled once more as she apologised once more, and then offered some form of candy as a small excuse for her carelessness. Darion bowed lightly, took one and started eating it, giving off a liking "Mhmmm. You do not need to apologise my lady, it was not an intended action." Darion looked at her, and she could see that she was indeed a beauty. A woman befitting the most charming of princes. However, he had not yet forgiven her completely, after all she did destroy a set of his wardrobe, and he wanted compensation. With that, money. The Darion started to walk around her slowly with his cane in his left hand, and as he had finished an entire circle, he stopped in his original spot, smiled more than before, and as the woman proposed that they should switch clothes due to the hot chocolate, Darion nodded slightly and said, while extending out his right arm (as the old gentleman tradition dictates): "I concur. I have a room nearby, and further down this road is a restaurant, I know the owner so you can change and do laundry there. Do you have a specific place otherwise?" |

She simply raised a brow. Did all nobility flatter this much? In her experience, most of them just looked down their nose at her until she cleaned up and wore expensive dresses, and then they wanted her to accompany them to their parties. She could look and act like a lady if she wanted to… she just didn’t care most of the time. Plus, she normally made them buy those dresses for her, then sold them afterwards, like most gifts men gave her. She only kept what she considered useful, and rarely paid for things herself, though she easily could. As he ate one of her pastries, she too began to nibble on one to calm her stomach, which was annoyed that she hadn’t put either pastry or hot chocolate in it at this point. She was about to reply when he started circling her like a hawk. She raised a brow as he finished his circle and then offered his arm. Shaking her head, she smiled at him beautifully and then said simply,”Thank you, but no. I’ve changed my mind. I’m staying at Dragon’s Keep. Send the bill for cleaning there, addressed to Youko and I assure you it will be taken care of. Have a good day, sir.” She smiled brightly at him, turned on her heel and began to walk away, back towards her hotel. She didn’t care how much she liked his looks. She wasn’t about to be treated like a common whore, nor like a possession. Not by anyone. She was her own person, and she wouldn’t have anyone circle her like a prized horse. The thunder rolled across the sky, lightning flashing. It matched her mood perfectly. She didn’t care how handsome his smile was. The snake on his cane was an apt representation. No matter how gentlemanly he had appeared, it was hiding a snake and she wanted none of it. |

Darion's continuous smile that he had put on for such a long time now, suddenly vanished. He took a firmer grip of the cane handle as he raised on his back to appear taller, his pride was now hurt. The woman had bluntly rejected his proposal, and one does not simply decline a nobleman, let alone one from the Steinheil family. As the woman started to walk away, telling him the place where she stayed and that he could send a bill there, he merely chuckled lowly and said "Oh really?" He started to walk towards her, and quickly appeared before her and said, once again with the smile even though it being more malevolent than before,: I do not take a no for an answer my lady, and you would do wise to remember that." Darion looked up and saw that people had started to look at them now, some chatting with another as if they asked "what is going on?". Darion harkled himself and cracked his neck, looked at the woman once again and said in a calmer tone, however still with the same dark feeling as before: "You are invited to dinner now this evening, shall we say 8 a'clock? I will send someone to make sure you do not..get lost. This town can be dangerous in the evening. Have a good day, my lady" and with the last sentence, Darion bowed lightly and started walking towards the restaurant which was his original target. After a while, he arrived and as soon as he entered the door, a waiter approached him, greeted him to the restaurant and asked how many guests it was. Darion gave a quick reply and soon he was sitting at a table, looking at the wine list as the manager and family member came out of what looked like the office, and noticed Darion. After a few greetings where it looked like the relative was more pleased to see Darion than vice versa, the latter told his old relative about what had happened out in the square, and if he knew anything about this girl. "Sorry my boy, I've heard nothing about this gal. I know all about the residents here, but not the visitors, sorry to be of no help., the manager said with an honest face, but just as he was going to walk back to his work, Darion grabbed his arm and said, in the Steinheil family language, not wanting anyone else to understand: "Du sollst sie entführen. Ich hege... interesse an ihr. Und keine widerrede. Das ist ein Befehl."" The manager understood every word, and when looked at his relative who was now taking a sip from the red wine presented to him, the manager simply said in a low voice: "Du gehörst zur Familie, deshalb helfe ich dir. Aber komme nie wieder hieher, verstanden? Darion chuckled lightly and smiled, very much wanting to let his *dear* relative get to know his place in this world. But, Darion saw no real use in it, after all he was family, so he just simply left some money on the table, rose up, and said: "Natürlich. Um 20 Uhr, heute Abend, genau hier. Auf Wiedersehen." as he left the restaurant and started walking towards his hotel, wanting to prepare for this evening. German Translation[/spoiler

Youko raised a brow as Darion stopped her, telling her it wasn’t wise for her to tell him no. She was about to tell him where he could put her ‘no’ when she also noticed the people staring around them. He seemed to think better about making a public spectacle and instead invited her to dinner before bowing and walking away. She laughed softly, muttering darkly to herself, ”Invited? Hardly. That was an order if I ever got one… we shall see…” She walked back to her hotel, which was NOT the Dragon’s Keep. It was however, next to it. Slipping up to her room in the inn called the Rose Garden, she glanced across the way at the Dragon’s Keep. She really did consider not showing up, or just leaving town. But she had a feeling the poor owners of Dragon’s Keep would pay the price for her impudence, and she actually quite liked them. She’d already reserved her room here when she’d talked to them and asked them to act as intermediary. She always did that, simply for backup. She didn’t like to have creepers actually know where she was staying. With a sigh, she decided to stay. She spent the day inside, reading a book and staring through her window at the rain that had started falling around noon. By six it had stopped again, leaving the world smelling refreshed, and she started to get ready. Pulling out her ‘special occasion’ dress, she smiled. Ah well, if she had to meet him again, at least she would do so in style. Slipping into the black silk sheath covered by lace that hit the floor, she smiled. She loved the feel of silk on her body. Her boots went back on beneath it. If push came to shove, she would be able to react normally, which was also helped by the slit up to her knees at the back of the dress so she could move a bit more freely. It was an elegant affair, and she attached her silver sun jewelry for accents. Her bangs were swept to one side of her face, half covering one of her emerald eyes, while the rest was curled lightly to spiral down to mid-back in golden waves. All she carried was a small purse that had money sufficient to cover the cleaning cost, her key, and a small dagger. She couldn’t very well carry her quiver to something like this, much as she longed to, so the dagger would have to do. At 8:00 sharp, she watched out the window and saw two of his goons get out of a nice car and walk into the Dragon’s Keep. At 8:05 she left her room, walked downstairs and across the street. Coming inside, she smirked at the two men. ”I believe you’re looking for me. Let’s go.” They seemed… dumbfounded. The dress set off her curves perfectly, and she was absolutely stunning. ”You were supposed to be inside…” the man questioned, a bit confused that she had come from outside. She laughed. ”Oh, you actually think I’d tell him where I was really staying? You’ve got to be kidding! Either that or utterly stupid.” Her eyes glittered dangerously, and they gulped. ”Now then, let’s go. Or should I just leave?” She questioned them nonchalantly, and they seemed to remember they were supposed to be kidnapping her. They walked forward, one reaching for her arm. In a flash, she had grabbed his hand and twisted his thumb up into a very painful lock. Camly, she said, ”You will not touch me, understood? I will follow you, but if you try to put one finger on me you will regret it, I can assure you.” He grunted his assent. These were not fighters. She smiled, let go and brushed her hands off. ”All right then. Now that that’s clear, shall we?” She waited for them to open the door for her, then proceeded out as if she was a noble queen. The ride to the restaurant was silent, and they opened the car door for her when she arrived. Darion was inside a rather empty restaurant. Either he had dictated it be so, or his presence scared the other patrons. She was led towards a more private room in the back, and speak of the devil, there he was. She turned to the minions and said simply, ”You have conveyed me here. Your duty is done. Now leave.” Her tone was commanding and brooked no argument, and they scattered behind her without waiting for Darion’s command. Turning back to him, she smiled a bit ruefully and said simply, “Hello again.” the dress |
