Could it be possible to use the magic system to emulate things like a "mafia" for example, or a position in nobility? For example, you could take the standard summoner magic and make it your mafia troupe, without it actually counting as proper "magic" in-character, but we use the OOC limitations of standard summoner to balance it out and make it happen. Like instead of using a celestial key to summon a dude, you whistle really hard and Cousin Crushem comes up to help you from seemingly out of nowhere in a comical way. But it isn't because of magic, ICily, its because you're a mafia lord of some kind lol. ICily, that mafia guy would have no magic at all. How does it sound? Edited by Hyphen, Jun 19 2014, 02:57 PM.

Sarcasm. Because beating the shit out of people is illegal.

Sounds like summoning but with a different skin. You would have to still have your 'goons' scale of your magic rank like normal (maybe the higher your magic stat the more influence you have within your gang). Other than that, why the heck not? |

Because this is a site for magic, not mafia games. If he wants to have his own goons, he can purchase pets. |

Yet we have knights. In terms of being possible vs completely out of the question, Hyphens idea isn't at all impossible to pull off. |

While the concept is funny, the reason Villis blatantly said no was because of the bold and underlined statements. Like he said in the next post this is a site for magic, not mafia games. It has to be "proper magic", otherwise they're considered "pets" and you have to buy them. In which case you can just be a "knight" without magic, call yourself a mafia boss, and have a bunch of goons follow you around. It'll be expensive though, since you don't get discounts for pets. |

Cccaawww!

But since they don't have magic, wont them being NPC's simply suffice? I'd assume that since they aren't magic, they can't really be counted as summons and/or pets and shouldn't be regarded as anything more than like filler NPC's, unless they grow in strength as their Mafia boss grows in strength. To me, it's the same as if a character starts off as royalty a.k.a, they follow the Royalty/Noble guidelines set in the Character Creation rules |

In which case it wouldn't be magic; IC or OoC. So that isn't what this thread was asking about. But yeah, that would work too. At least at first, but you can't really have an army of NPCs behind you under normal circumstances. |

Gin and Vilis are correct: using this concept the idea is not feasible. |
