Suijin continued to watch, almost growing board till he felt someone tug behind him. It was soon Snow as she came in close. She whispered what she wanted to say and it was important but before he could say more the Duke interrupted them. He was tempted to grab Snow's rear to make it more convincing but chose not to. That really would likely kill him. He just exchanged a glance at at her, then after she spoke to Vector, the crocodile grinned at her and nodded. "Ah, but one vital clue still remains!!" Vector announced to the other party guests, who were now more amused by the little crocodile than solving the mystery themselves. As Vector began his search for the said envelop, Suijin and Snow followed the same secret passage again, this time heading further down it as it led upward to the third floor. The part of the house that had been locked off and sealed for the night. Inside there was the master bedrooms. Plenty of ritzy of tasteless works of art. But more appealing were the jewels that were stashed in a nearby corner. Suijin grinned to Snow. "I'd say that is worth taking," he said, moving over to it and swifltly putting some in his pocket. |

Snow followed Suijin back up the passageway, happy to find that there were plenty of treasures on display. There seemed to he no end to the amount of things that could be found in a rich person's house, and this guy had treasures aplenty. As Suijin stuffed things into his pockets, she made a quick scan of the rest of the room. There in a case by the window was a dagger, obviously crusted with mostly fake jewels, and gold painted. It was the label that drew Snow's attention. 'In honor of your first kill outside if the battlefield. ~Duke Colorone I' She eyed it, looking for anything that might sound an alarm. It appeared it was much handled, as there was little dust on the case and quite a few fingerprints. She wondered for a moment if the words meant what she thought they did. But that wasn't really her problem in the long run. She lifted the glass from the case and lifted the dagger out, putting it beside the other one strapped to her thigh. It was simple enough to do, since her other dagger was strapped in place by a simple piece of string. She wasn't interested in the better prizes Suijin had found. This would do for her. A blow that would actually strike at the villain. She moved over his way and gave a soft smile. It was then she heard voices approaching from a different direction, coming their way and quickly. She replaced her prize, though she doubted that the person would notice the mission jewels, this particular prize might be something they looked for. She was just thankful she hadn't had to bust the glass to retrieve it. She moved silently, and replaced the treasure, trying to look for a convenient hiding place for both of them. Like or not, this time she had more than her own ass to cover, if she wanted things done properly. They seemed to be in a small study, and she cursed her luck. The only real hiding place was a small closet just beside a book shelf. She touched Suijin's arm and made a gesture indicating he should go in, and she went with him. Unfortunately, they were squeezed in there quite close. She tried not to roll her eyes at him and instead whispered, "Hands to yourself as much as possible please, unless you don't want to keep them." Though really, they had little choice but to stand close together. The lights in the room came on soon enough, and she became silent and still, waiting for their imprisonment to be over. |

Downstairs, Vector soon explained to the audience his theory. "Now as we all know, the evidence here suggests an obvious person. However, I suspect there is one vital clue missing. Something that will cement the entire case! " He then went to a bookshelf looking for something. ANd then he found it. An evelope sticking out of the binding of a nearby book! "Aha!" he exclaimed and head back to the three suspects. Vector then opened the envelope and looked at the contents. "And here it is folks. Damning evidence saying... it wasn't the three suspects before you but one who had been following us the whole time! One who planted the evidence as we went and used the events of the evening to mask his tracks! THEEEEE... BULTER!!" he declared pointing at the man. The people in the room went into a questioned frenzy of discussion as soon Vector showed them the envelop, containing instructions directly to the butler. It was indeed caught red handed. The butler definately looked flustered, but also annoyed. Meanwhile while Snow and Suijin were raiding, the company of another could be heard as they soon entered the cramped hiding space. Suijin just smirked at her comment. "Well it wouldn't be a convincing fake out-make out otherwise." he quipped. He heard sounds approaching the door, closer and closer, and wondered what Snow wanted to do to make it look good. |

Snow pressed closer as the voices outside began speaking. It became obvious almost at once that they were actually part of the staff in the mansion, cleaning up the room. Snow rolled her eyes at Suijin's comment, though it wouldn't be a bad plan if one of the cleaning people opened the door. She would just save that as a last resort though. She did, however, press herself closer to him, knowing the shade of her dress alone might be enough to attract attention if it could be seen below the crack of the door. It was stuffy in the closet, and the place seemed to be full of... wait a moment. What was this? Coats. It was full of coats and jackets. And she moved her hands carefully behind Suijin, pulling out the contents of one of the pockets. The fool of a duke had jewels hidden in his pockets. She held them up for appraisal by Suijin, and then put them in his hands, carefully and quietly. She had no idea that downstairs the croc had already nearly solved the mystery, she just knew that she wanted that dagger, and then to get out of this awful mansion. She wasn't a big fan of the rich and famous. And this wasnt helping her opinion of them. Of course just as she was about to put her hands into a different pocket on a different coat, the knob on the closet door started to turn. She gave a soft sigh and looked at her business partner for the day. "If the door opens, kiss me. Otherwise, just keep still." She said it softly enough that she was certain she wouldn't be over heard. Not over the meaning equipment that seemed to be running anyway. And she couldn't help breathing a sigh of relief when the door handle stopped turning, and the sounds died away. The footsteps receded, and she opened the closet door gratefully. That had been entirely too close. She grabbed the dagger from the case, and slipped it into place with her own. "Lets get out of here if you don't mind. I don't really want to be stuck in a closet with you again. And we need to see what your pet has gotten up to in our absence." |

Clearly she was not amused as they were stuck together like this, her pressed in close to his chest. He couldn't help but have a smug grin, even with her threats. "Hey, you cant blame me for being drawn to someone as beautiful as you," he said in humor once the coast was clear. He also was thrilled to see that the pockets of the clothes in the closet had jewels in them too. The Duke was clearly not someone to stash his valuables wisely. With the coast clear, they left the room and began to make their way through the passage back to the Library, where Vector was solving the case. As they returned, they saw Vector happily blowing on his bubble pipe. Other guests were around him, congratulating him, while others were arguing with the butler, as he denied being involved with the game as a whole. At this time, however the Duke appeared and did not look happy. Apparently he wanted to solve the mystery himself and the whole butler fake out was a means to guarantee that no one but him would figure it out! "No sweat," Vector said as he was praised, accepting the congratulations as he was reluctantly named the victor for solving the mystery. Apparently people were just happy that the Duke didn't win this year. "I just realized the obvious answer is never what it seemed. So I thought to check this room once more for the final clue. And there it was. Plain as the nose on my face." Suijin just smirked. Seemed his crocodile friend actually pulled his weight this time around. Thanks to him, and his clever wit, Vector secured the game for them while Snow and Suijin helped out on their end. "Gotta hand it to him. Vector really was useful this time around," he said. At this time, one of the younger women of the party approached Vector and leaned down towards him. "You're probably the most clever and cutest crocodile I ever met," she said. The words of course were very clear in her intent, however, she honored him by leaning closer and gave Vector a quick kiss on the cheek. Vector immediately stiffened as the kiss registered in his mind and hearts flashed in his eyes for a moment as the woman soon returned to her previous company. For Vector, the little crocodile was floating on air. |

Snow couldn't help rolling her eyes just slightly as Suijin told her he couldn't help being attracted to her. All she cared about was her lovely prize, and getting back to check on the crocodile. She was surprised, and admittedly a little impressed, when she noted that he had actually managed to solve the mystery in their absence. She clapped along quietly with the rest of the party, even managing an actual smile when the croc got a sweet kiss from one of the female participants. The Duke himself, however, looked about as happy as a thunder cloud. He was making his way toward the croc already, and Snow met him there, smiling benignly again as he approached. She put one gloved hand on Vector's head, ensuring that the Duke remembered that they were guests. He stopped short of screaming at the poor creature, but only just she thought. Instead, he moved back behind them, shushing the atrocious actors and stepping up onto the hearth to use it as a pedestal. "Attention Guests! There is good news. As it turns out, the mystery has indeed been solved. Stop posturing Higgins, you did it, just admit it." the Duke snarled at the man obligated to play the villain. The butler finally took a reluctant bow, and the Duke waited while there was the mandatory round of applause. "As sad as I am that I have managed to loose at my own game, for the first time in 10 years no less, I am proud to have these fine people be the ones I loose to. And crocodile. A fine crocodile as well I suppose." Snow was sure she wasn't the only one that heard the veiled anger in his tone. She pasted her smile in place, and gave a small sigh from the side of her mouth. "Now for this years prize!" He motioned the three of them toward him, and Snow went quietly, making sure to keep Vector within her sights. She wouldn't be surprised if there were some last minute trickery involved. When they reached the little podium, the Duke produced something that looked like a small badge. "Your prize." There was general booing from the crowd. Apparently, they didn't think it was much of a prize either. Snow let Vector take it, knowing he had done most of the work. She gave a pretty curtsey. "Thank you my Lord." The badge at least seemed to be made of gold. Vector promptly bit it, eliciting more laughter from the crowd. "Yep! It's real!" Snow couldn't help laughing along. |

IT was a lame prize, that was for sue But Suijin said nothing. As often as he loved to give his companion a hard time, he didn't want to ruin his moment. Suijin himself enjoyed the spotlight so the little crocodile deserved his time in it for a while. However, while the prize was crappy, he sure turned it around as the crowd were still pleased. Who needed a crappy piece of metal. All in all, Vector was proudly desplaying his skills and reward with no shame, and that just ticked off the Duke more. As the games end, the party began to wind down and return to the mediocre dinner party. Vector once again munching on the mini desserts now being served and even some more praises to the crocodile by the guests. Suijin was so tempted to steal the spotlight but Vector more than earned it. For now, he waited with Snow side by side. They had completed their mission, as well collecting quite a few goodies from the Duke under his nose. While they relaxed for a bit, they could see a familiar face. The client and other well dressed man who hired them to participate. He easily approached them, not drawing any attention as he met them, as if they were casual friends. "I must say, that crocodile was far more clever than I thought. Nice work, to all of you." He said to Snow and Suijin. Suijin leaned back, flexing his muscles unintentionally as he put them behind his head in a lounging manner. "Yep. The lizard has his moments..." he admitted. The man smiled and glanced over to the Duke on the other side of the room, clearly not in a good mood himself. "You did a good job lighting a fire under him. Any goods did you manage to ... you know?" he asked, hinting what they did. |

Snow gave a small smile to one of the men, the client she supposed. "I don't think this is an appropriate place to discuss that." The man smiled at her slightly, inclining his head. "Of course not. You are quite right. Well, now that you've won the game, how about we adjourn to the drawing room, just over here. I think a bit of coffee and a few deserts are in order." He gestured in the direction of the stairs they had come up, and Snow followed the two men into the hallway. There they took a sharp right and found themselves inside yet another plush room. Plush couches, plush carpeting, even the drapes seemed to her that they would make some very nice squishy blankets. And she was overly fond of squishy blankets as it was, so she ignored them, focusing her attention on the matter at hand. "Well, now that we are alone, is there anything you would like to show me?" Snow gave a quick nod of her head, drawing the stolen dagger from where she had hidden it. The client gave a kind of a grin, taking it from her hands. "This is actually...perfect. I know the object. This is something our dear Duke will miss greatly. A low blow indeed my dear. Well done." She simply nodded again. She was about done with conversations for the evening. She wanted out of this house, before the missing man she had tied up and this silly little knife got them into actual trouble. The client certainly seemed satisfied however, and he gave them both a grin. "If you will just give me a moment, I will collect your reward. Please come meet me outside." He left, and Snow looked at Suijin. "I hope this reward is worth the trouble. Shall we?" |

Suijin let Snow do the talking, as they discussed the matter in a private room. He also revealed the jewels he had taken himself and gave them to the client, who was very pleased with both of their efforts! "A pleasure doing buisness with you." the client said, "I will give your payment outside when we are out of the duke's manor. Okay?" SUijin nodded and turned to Snow when she said they should leave. "Of course. Honestly I can't wait to get out of here. I'll go get Vector," he said as he left to head back to the party to find his green friend. He climbed down the stairs back to the now thinning out party to find Vector, talking once again to the woman who was kind enough to give him a peck on the cheek. She definately found him adorable, but clearly Vector was thinking far more than that. Suijin just rolled his eyes as he approached his green friend. "Alright, Ellery Queen. Time to go," Suijin warned Vector. "Hey! I'll be with you in a few minutes. I am enjoying a lovely chat with my new friend here," Vector argued, blowing some bubbles at Suijin as he turned back to the lady, who only could laugh at the arguing pair. Irritated and having enough, Suijin grabbed Vector by the tail. "Forgive me, miss. You will have to excuse us," he replied, causing her to blush at Suijin as he began to pull Vector away with him. Kicking and shouting, Vector was pulled along by Suijin as the two left the party. "Hey! Ow! Call me!" Vector called back to the woman, who waved goodbye as they left out the front door. Their mission was complete, and all that was left was for them to collect their reward! |

Snow watched as the man with the Dragon tattoo forcibly pulled the croc outside. She stayed close to him as they met up with their client again, this time standing next to some strange mode of conveyance that was parked in one of the more shadowy places in the yard. She was rather tired, and hoped very much that this would be the end of their mission. She had done all that had been asked of her, and that was surely more than enough. She had to admit that she might actually sort of miss working with the two people who were with her when she finally smelled fresh air again. It hadn't been so bad. Other than the playing up of the relationship, it had been relatively easy. Almost too easy. She hoped that this guy wasn't going to do something crazy when they got out to him. Though she was prepared for that, if it came to a fight. She had no doubts whatever that she could manage well enough against either opponent. Plus, she hopefully still had backup. Before they actually made it all the way to where the client and his apparent bodyguard were waiting she gave Suijin a smile, a real one this time. The kind that made her eyes light up, and made her pretty, instead of cold looking. "I actually liked working with you after all. I think the croc did a passable job too. Or at least pulled his weight." They had reached their client, so she didn't comment further. "Here you go. Your reward, as promised." Snow tensed slightly as he reached beneath his coat, but he produced two smallish bags and handed one to each person. "That should be sufficient for the night's work. Thank you for your services. I will be sure to keep you in mind should I require...assistance...in the future." Snow gave a slight bow and the man and his bodyguard went back toward the house. "Like I said, nice working with you. If we happen to meet again, I won't be against it. Til then," She moved forward and gave first Vector and then Suijin a light kiss on the cheek. "Take care. See you around." She waved and walked away, happy to be getting away from the house of the Duke, and more than ready for a spot of reset. |
