Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Astria found herself standing beside one of her loyal Saints, the Saint of Valor, Kuzo, and her recently made friend, Inara. The three of them had just barely been alluded by a thief who escaped into a secret, narrow, passageway below. Presently, they were inside a secret hiding place, only discovered due to the thief openly stealing something from Inara and trying to get away. Determined to recover Inara's item and also capture the thief on the simple grounds of thievery being wrong, Astria was momentarily stunned by the proposition in front of her. From the sounds of the thief diving in, the splashing below most likely indicated some sort of waterway at the bottom, which would indeed help him escape. The only problem was that they could not see what was actually below, looking through the opening only gave an image of a black abyss, so it was rather dangerous to simply jump down without any idea of what was going on. Finally Astria spoke up and decided that they had to go, even if they didn't know what was before them!

"Alrighty then, I think that since Kuzo's the only man here, he should go first!" Astria spoke confidently, patting her Saint on the back. Kuzo and his can-do attitude, especially after realizing that he was the only male here to protect the two women, sparked right up! Eagerly, he dove down after the thief, going through the opening feet first and a battle cry! Hearing the splash, Astria waited a moment and then heard the sound of her Saint's voice. "COLD! Hurry, the current is calm, but fa-" Astria could only hear that much, before his voice was too far away to properly make out. Pondering just a moment, Astria guessed that some cold body of water below was calm enough to allow people to just dive into it, but was quick in moving, so one didn't have a lot of time to orientate themselves before being dragged to a new place. "We have to hurry or we'll lose them!" Astria spoke just before going through the passageway herself, hoping that this would end for the best!

For a brief moment, Astria felt her body flying. The fall through the air was full of suspense for the summoner, unable to know when the water would come to end her fall, it was almost paralyzing to consider the idea of falling for eternity, into this black void. An incredibly strong sense of panic and fear coursed through the woman, and though the drop was only a mere few seconds, each one of those felt like a life time before crashing into the water. Now, Astria had gotten soaked several times before, but to date this had to have been the coldest water she'd felt. Instantly her skin got goosebumps, and if she had been feeling drowsy then this would have woken her right up. Thankfully not wearing anything too bothersome to get in the way of swimming, Astria pushed herself above the water, taking in a gasp of breath while frantically looking around for anything familiar. A faint light above, though well behind her, was the only thing she could use to guess a starting point. It was impressive that the current had already moved her so far downstream already, but at the same time that meant hitting the bedrock on the bottom was incredibly dangerous. If her foot, for instance, was to get stuck under the loose gravel that made the floor to this water, then based on the current and her locked in foot, it was likely to break her ankle if not just snap off. This thought in mind, the summoner frantically kicked up and moved her arms to keep her head above the water.

Swatting the hair out of her face, Astria kept a determined look ahead of her, attempting to both, somehow, make out any exits or any dangerous that stuck out of the river up ahead. It was almost impossible however as inside the cavern it was nearly pitch black and the water kept splashing up in her face. "KUZO!... INARA!" Astria shouted out to her two friends here in the river with her, hoping that one would be close enough and be well enough to respond back. Kuzo was silent, most likely too far up ahead to hear her voice. Starting to panic and realize the many flaws in this plan, Astria only hoped that the end to this river wasn't someplace deadly. It had to have some ending, or at least a moment's peace to get out of it, after all the thief dove in here first and he certainly wasn't going to do so in a suicide. Hopefully Kuzo was able to find something up ahead, but with the distance between them now, Astria was going to just have to ride the waves and find out.

Inara followed after Astria and her spirit, old habits dying hard, she went feet first, to gauge the depth. She was immediately immersed from head to toe in freezing water, the current dragging her faster than she had ever been moved before. She was glad she had taken a deep breath, as by the time her head emerged from the river she was struggling to keep from releasing it in the water. She coughed and sputtered, even as she heard Astria call her name and it echo down the strange tunnel like cavern the were being pulled through. She could vaguely see blue hair in front of her, though it was bobbing like a cork. "Asria! I'm right here!" She stopped floating and started paddling quickly. She didn't want to float here in the middle of nowhere alone.

She paddled hard, though it wasn't really necessary. The current could have gotten her there just as quickly, but she wanted to be quick. She got close to Astria and made herself slow down. "Its a bit deeper than I had thought, and much quicker. We need to find a place to get out. As soon as we can." She gave a smile, trying to reassure the woman. They were both freezing, and she could see Astrias teeth start to chatter. She was going to suggest getting closer to sides of the tunnel when a sucking sound drew her attention. Up ahead, a whirlpool had formed, and it took up most of the tunnel. She cursed under her breath, and grabbed Astira. She couldn't think of anything else to do.

The freezing water carrying Astria further and further downstream, at a very rapid pace, Astria was glad to see that Inara wasn't too far behind and actually swam closer to Astria to catch up. The two of them were just barely bobbing above the current and both were extremely cold. Typically, water wasn't hot anyway, but when it was also underground and hidden away from sunlight, it tended to get particularly icy and bone-chilling. Astria felt her teeth chatter and her skin bump up from the temperature. Doing her best to ignore it, though the chattering teeth was sadly an impossible to notice bother, Astria could be relieved by the fact that Inara and her had managed to stick together, though now Astria was worried about Kuzo. Given the length of time between each of them diving in, it was very likely that Kuzo was well ahead of them in the river. Of course, that thought became more and more discouraging as Astria realized that there was a whirlpool up ahead.

...

A whirlpool! At least now Astria knew why the current was racing away so fast. They were being sucked into a whirlpool of death, and with no idea of where the bottom could take them, assuming they somehow avoided the drowning typically involved with whirlpools, they now just had a much more pressing reason to get out of the water. Frantically looking around from side to side, Astria was only met with the dark and cold stone walls that held absolutely no kind of handhold or anything to grab onto. Hoping for something, anything to reach out and grab onto, the mage considered if any of her other summons could help out in the situation. More than a bit unsure, it didn't seem to matter anyway as Astria couldn't pull out one of her coins without exposing them all to being swept away by the rushing water ahead of them.

The crashing sounds of the whirlpool got louder and louder and with nothing else to grab onto, Astria found herself holding Inara. Honestly Astria was more sure that things would work out for them, not expecting it to be incredibly easy or anything, but usually taking risks worked out. Maybe this time her luck had just run short, but either way Astria was only thinking about how much more she wanted to do before finally meeting her fate- not that she liked this being her demise, but only the morbid would pick the way in which to die. As if by the grace of some deity, Astria felt a strong hand grab onto the collar of her shirt and with a yank, she and Inara were above the water and on dry land again! Coughing up water and shaking a bit, Astria looked up to see Kuzo standing over her! "Kuzo!" Astria stood up and hugged the man. "I was so worried you were dragged down the river!" Astria looked at him, genuinely revealed to see him in good health. "Yeah I managed to grab onto this ledge and get out at the last second. It seemed like its intentional though." Kuzo explained his situation to Astria while turning and pointing to the passageway behind them. Evidently the thief also used this as his escape way, though he obviously knew of its presence. "Well at this point we have no choice but to go forward." Astria stated and started to make her way towards the passage. Even if they just decided to give up, Astria certainly wasn't able to swim up that kind of current and then somehow jump back up to the opening and get out.

Inara was contemplating how awful it would be to drown when she and Astria were lifted bodily from the water by the strong spirit from before. She gave him a smile of thanks, and nodded at Astria. She was coughing up water soon after that though, the current having forced more water into her face than could possibly be healthy. Her teeth were chatter too and she was tired from, most likely from her muscles locking onto Astria when she thought she was nearing death. When she had coughed all she could out, she stood, listening thoughtfully to what Kuzo had to say. There seemed to be yet another tunnel behind them, which was the only logical what for the thief to have gone. She looked over her shoulder at the cold water and the sucking whirlpool.

"How did he get past that without drowning I wonder? And I suppose at this point we really must follow. It's not as if we can just go back." She sighed. All this over a cheap gift. But it was, after all, the principle which had made her come in the first place. She held onto that thought and it seemed to help her shaking limbs to calm. She smiled apologetically at both Astria and Kuzo. "Sorry I got you into this mess, and thanks so much for sticking with me. And fishing me out."

She went towards the passage, and noted that it too was made of the stone which had been the walls since they entered this underground passageway. It was less damp now though, which she took as a good sign. She had no intention of going swimming again anytime soon if she could help it. There was no bobbing light this time, just a soft steady glow and a short dirt pathway which seemed to lead them on a slight slope further underground. She followed it cautiously, hoping there weren't any really horrid surprises at the end.

"Oh yeah, no problem at all. Don't even think that we could just let someone steal from a friend, though I have to say that I certainly didn't expect it to get this far." Astria remained modest to Inara's thanks, sure that any other upstanding person would have done the same. The tunnel ahead of them slowly changed from a dark and wet rocky one into more of a dirt path. Astria also noticed that the hill slowly started to slope upwards, suggesting that they would get back out of the underground chasm. Going up the path, Astria was careful to not let herself just brush against the walls, while also dismissing Kuzo- not wanting to have any more drain on herself magically speaking. If the trick switch from before was any kind of sign, then the summoner didn't want to find herself accidentally triggering a trapdoor on them. As they headed down the right path and Astria intended only to stick on the right side, there weren't any other pathway choices until another opening a bit deeper in. Similar to the last one a white marble path showed them the path to the exit on the other side, but in this case the area was a bit strange. Nothing by vines, and their leaves, laid close to the ground and climbed up the side of the walls where tiny buds of white flowers glowed with some light blue bio-luminescence. "Even though it seems harmless, I'm just sure that we'll regret having to go across this path." Astria sighed openly, an obvious not-obvious something was lurking in here, she just didn't know what. It was such a shame a nice sunny day like it was now, even more fresh to them since they were underground, was ruined by this sudden strange fauna.

With all the vines in the area, Astria was just terrified of one snaking its way over to her and wrapping itself around her ankle, and either hanging her up in the air or dragging her down into the dark depths below the vines. The other concern present were the glowing bulbs. Rarely did anything glow in nature simply because it was pretty and fetch to do so, it was normally a warning to those around them to just keep moving and not bother them. Well that or it could be used as a bait to lure in simple minded bugs and insects before trapping them. At least the bulbs were on the walls and were separated from them by the lengthy vines just off the marble path. From that distance, Astria or Ranth couldn't be entranced to get close to it, so they were probably safe from whatever was lurking behind the glow.

Suddenly, as if right on cue, movement caught Ranth's eye and he turned his head to see one of the buds begin to flower and as it did so, a plume of golden pollen shot into the air before fading into the air. But after the first bud had opened, so too were others and with each puff of golden pollen, an alluring aroma began to fill the air. Reacting, though it may have been too late, Astria took the tie out of her hair and wrapped around her nose and mouth, tying it once more in the back. "Inara, try not to breathe in the pollen. We should hurry away from here." It was near impossible to tell what kind of reaction the pollen would have on them, unsure if just protecting their nose and mouth was enough or not. The pollen could be corrosive on their skin for all they knew, or maybe it would just spontaneously combust right around them, something akin to a dust fire. The pollen seemed to harmlessly fill the room, creating a thin layer of golden pollen everywhere. Astria didn't really notice the pollen having any effect on them and not wanting to stay and find out, she pressed onwards.

As Astria tried to proceed throughout the rest of the pathway in the area, she noticed some movement out of the corner of her eye. Turning on her heels to see what was squirming about, the mage was horrified to see from the vine patch below a swampy looking hand emerge. Vines, woven together and appearing to be incredibly decayed had formed a large hand that was reaching as high as the barrier would allow. Astria noticed the pollen hanging in the air was becoming attached and sucked in by the hand's stick outer coating. Quickly putting a few things together, the mage came up with a possible conclusion that the glowing plants pollen fed some creature below the vine patch and this was feeding time! The hand was reaching around all over to find more of the pollen to absorb and on its search, the hand was heading right towards Astria and Inara!

Inara followed Astria through a few openings, and when they found the room with the vines and beautiful flowers, she felt the presence of something else in the room. She wanted to touch the flowers, to take one or two with her, but she was just as sure as Astria that there was something not right about them. Their pollen floated languid through the air here, and Inara used her cloak to cover both mouth and nose, knowing the nearly every other inch of her skin was well protected. Some of the pollen lit in Astria's hair, making it glow softly, though it didn't seem to be doing anything terrible to her. It was actually sort of pretty Inara thought. Still there was that lingering feeling of something not quite right in the room, something...lurking. She caught the movement at the same time Astira did, the giant lifelike hand reaching toward them, grasping at them. Inara wasn't sure what to do as the hand rushed their way. She stepped in front of Astria instinctively, her arms thrown wide to protect her friend. At the same time she summoned her other form, turning into her dryad self. She rooted herself firmly to the ground, even as the hand grasped her where her thighs had been a moment before. She gave a small cry as she felt it prick her gently, like her own thorns might do to someone else.

It tugged for a moment, and when she didn't move any closer, it seemed to give up on her. Inara turned toward Astria, hoping her sudden change hadn't frightened her friend. "Hurry to the other side, I will be along as swiftly as I can. Or if you'd rather, you can stay behind me as I work my way over. I don't want it catching you by accident." It made another move toward her, the vine thing, and she again kept herself between Astria and the things grip. Another thorn pricked her, a bit higher up this time, and she bit her lip. It was indeed making small puncture wounds on her, but as it moved she could see that this was something more like a feeding tube than an actual thorn. It was probably what the thing ate the golden pollen from, and while it hurt when it pricked her, it wasn't very large.

She sent one of her vines in its direction, intent on holding it still until they could move off in the other direction. She couldn't imagine what kind of defense this was, but she was certain she didn't like it. She wondered vaguely if there were any way the thing could be poisonous, but she didn't feel any differently, despite having been poked twice. Soon the bulbs on the walls were fluttering closed again, and as they began to close, the hand began to recede. She became her normal self again. That was when she noticed the small spots of blood concealing on her thigh and her waist. "Lets get out of here, then I can dim the pain of these. I don't want to be around when that thing comes back." For a moment she wished with all her heart she'd just let the Damn thief go. This was too much danger for a simple ring. She sighed again and continued down the marble path.

On the other side they found yet another large room, this time with only two tunnels branching off of it. She could hear more running water through one, and she could smell somewhat less damp air coming out of the other. Sticking to the right seemed to be the best plan, and she went that way, apologizing yet again to Astria for all the trouble. She laid a hand over the wound on her waist, using Natures Balm, she felt the flower bloom and fall away. It was too deep for the spell to heal her, but it did stop the flow of blood. "I really hate that I got you into this. I know he needs finding, but this place is becoming more dangerous by the second, and I hate that you're here on my account." She still wasn't used to people looking out for her, or trying to help for no reason at all. This left her feeling guilty for dragging Astria into something so dangerous she could have kicked herself. As it stood, they had no recourse but to keep moving.

She noted that the path they were on was now moving upwards, and she sighed. Maybe they weren't so far from the surface after all. But instead of coming out onto more branching pathways, or even to something resembling a door, they stood on a precipice, with another patheway leading down towards a crater in the earth filled with make shift tents and a bustle of activity in the midst of them. On the outskirts of the shanty town stood towering ruins, crumbling slowly, but held together remarkably well, most like since they were underground. She could see a single clear path and it led straight into the den of thieves. On the other side, a cafe mouth yawned wide, and a guard stood at the ready. Her best guess was that was the way out. Inara sighed an sat down on the ground. "Well this is a fine mess I've gotten us into. Looks like we've come upon a den of thieves.and the only path out, seems to be through them, or through those creepy ruins." She made a sound of disgust and looked up at Astria, wondering just where they would go from here.

Working out the situation in her head, Astria was surprised by the sudden change Inara did. In the blink of an eye, the woman became covered in what looked to be tree bark. Taken back a bit, Astria pieced together that clearly it was related to Inara's magic, something along the lines of Takeover is what Astria would assume. Somewhat familiar with Takeover magic, Astria could remember her friend Red use it on several occasions. Basically the magic kept your humanoid appearence, but altered a lot of the body greatly. It was to give you the abilities and properties of other creatures or perhaps even concepts in the world. Thankful for Inara's swift reaction to protect her, Astria was certainly touched by her show of selflessness. It did pain her, however, that the woman took the thorns of the vine attacks.

Weathering through the supposid feeding time of the vines in the area, both the mages could see the blooms retract back, seeming to begin their process over anew. Seeing her friend pained, Astria only wished she had some sort of help to offer. Her equipment wasn't going to do anything more that the magic casted by Inara hadn't already done to heal her, not to mention Astria only had one healing spell and it was really only to be used as a last case scenario. Continuing down with Inara on the marbled path, Astria became more cautious about what was to come up next, especially since the seemingly harmless plants were actually trying to attack them.

Finally etching their way up towards the surface, Astria had to say that she wasn't exactly glad to see where they were. Evidently on the outskirts of some shanty town, a crater down a ways served as the border of a bunch of makeshift tents and other shoddy housing. Still down a ways, but not as close to the shanty town lied some sort of towering ruins, slowly crumbling, but were still held together. "I think that I would rather avoid the thieves if we could. Lets just head through the ruins over there." Astria spoke her answer and reasoning to Inara. They were indeed looking for a theif and obviously going to the den of thieves would make it more likely to find him, but the idea of being surronded by literally a town full of crooks and thieves just made Astria more and more unsetteled. With that said, the two of them would head over to the ruins- Astria in particular- rather excited about the possability of what was there to find.

Traps. Evidently traps were what was to find.

The two mages would fall and should they look up at the small opening in the floor, they would see both figures circling around the hole, pondering whether or not they could chase down. After falling for what seemed liked a century they made a rather rough landing on an old, worn out mattress. Making sure to to stay close to Red, Astria looked around to see where they had fallen to. The only piece of anything seemed to be the small pile of mattresses just under the space that served to break their fall, but otherwise they were in a barren place. Also they seemed to be in a lower space than the mansion's floor, and possibly even lower than a basement. The cold stone floor below them and the old fashioned stone walls lined with torches every couple of feet gave the area a very catacombs feel to it. The cold draft certainly didn't help anything and instantly sent a chill down Astria's spine. The air of damp and had an odd stench that she couldn't quite place. It was gross or repulsive, but it had a very distinct smell that she remembered on some level, but could exactly recall. The two mages would soon find themselves in a narrow corridor with a blockade directly ahead of them. A massive cobweb, quite thick and dense. Astria wasn't too sold on the idea of pushing through it but frankly they didn't have much of a choice at all given that this was their only way forward. Chopping away at it, the woman desperately tried to rub off the dust and webs that were on his arms now. He got most of the webs off but really that did beg the question, 'Where are the spiders if there is so much webs?' Perhaps some questions really shouldn't be asked.

A round, bulbous shadow appeared directly over head. Limbs were outstretched, eight in total, thin and spindly. Black and red in color, their newest tormentor rapelled downward from a strand of web.

Inara was certain that the ruins would lead them to something. She had no idea it was this. She had fallen down the hole in the floor a split second after Astria, her heart racing as she felt the air rushing past her. She hadn't had time to scream, or to take a breath even, before they hit a mattress, sending dust notes flying this way and that. Above them, two faces were remotely visible. They seemed to be staring, and their words echoed easily down to the two women. "Looks like you caught a nice pair o' doves Carson. Been needin some new meat down in the hobb. Boys'll be ecstatic they will." There was a snicker, and then something small fell down the hole, pinging on one side and then the other. "There ya go miss. I believe that's what you looking for. Too bad you found it this way." There was as mutated laughter as one gave a mock bow, and the small ring landed on the mattress and promptly bounced the stone floor. She could see sparking vaguely there, and she picked it up easily enough. She removed her cloak, and readied her bow. Luckily for her, no one had though to look for weapons on her person. They might be a bit damp, but they could still work.

Standing out of the light shed from above she knocked an arrow and sent it flying at a mocking face. They dodged in time, but the cursing coming from both men was satisfactory in itself. They didn't bother mocking anymore, just shut the large grating above them and moved away, apparently now worried about flying objects. As the hinges squeaked and the sound of the latch catching echoed down to them, Inara placed the ring on her finger, and put her bow and cloak back in their respective places. She looked at Astria. "Well this is certainly a fine pickle we've found ourselves in. Honestly. Of all the nerve..." She shook a small inadequate fist at the grating above them. Soft light still filtered in in bars, illuminating the barest minimum on the place in which they were trapped. She made a quick circle hand running along damp stone walls. She was so tired of damp she could scream. She wanted sunshine and fresh air. Not stone walls and locked doors.

Her hand lit on one stone which seemed loose, and she pushed it, making it retract into the wall. Just as in the alleyway, a door presented itself and slid first back and then to the side. It was much smaller though, and they were forced to crawl through on hands and knees, further aggravating the recent puncture wounds Inara had received. "Cursed place. I swear if I ever see daylight again I won't chase a single theif into an old forgotten anything. And I am still remarkably sorry for dragging you into this Astria." On the other side of the wall the light was better, and the stone slightly less damp. Inara started to give thanks for that fact but was interrupted by baudy voices raised in celebration ahead of her. There were chains on the walls, and cuffs laid on the floor. Flickering firelight danced, throwing shadows of men with cups in their hands again the wall to their left.

"John said for us to be expecting company. Said he'd found two young girls at Quinn's in need of a bit of adventure. Harley was non too happy with their tip apparently. There was a general chuckle over this. Inara chewed the inside of her lip, trying to understand exactly what the play was here. "What was their tip? Try cooking something?" Another chuckle. There seemed to be three distinct voices, though one had fallen silent. Perhaps he was too busy drinking. It was just as she had this thought that a man's hand landed on the back of her neck, making her yelp in fright before she could stop herself. He must have been uncannily quiet, as she had been straining to hear footfalls and had missed his completely. "Why there ya are lasses. We been expectin' you two lovelies. Dun worry. We ain't gonna hurt ya. Just be nice ta ha'e some comp'ny. Gets lonely down here in the dungeons. Even for those that know a way out." He was an over large man to move so quietly, even his voice was soft. He towered above Inara, a good six feet tall at least. He lifted her gently up to her feet, and pointed both her and Astria in the direction of the drinking table. His grey eyes were not those of someone who would harm her, but her natural caution gave her reason to mistrust.

"What are you doing here? And why are you being so nice?" One of the other men answered, an old man with a long gray beard and a plethora of laugh lines around blue eyes that looked nearly blinded. "We are the graveyard crew. We dig holes for the thieves up yonder, hoping to find some ridiculous kind of treasure. A coin or an amulet, I'm old and forget. He waved a hand as if to clear away cluttered thoughts. "You, my dears, are here to help search. One of you has some sort of power they value though I'm not sure which one. Something about summoning men who can run quick? Or was it turning into a tree and keeping the water flows clean?" He gave an all too knowing grin, and the near blind eyes moved from one to the other in quiet interest.

"Luckily for you ladies, we don't hold with the lads upstairs. And we are going to be your happy guides out of here. Once we find that little piece of treasure that is." Inara gave another huff. How many tasks were they going to be asked to accomplish in one day? She wasn't sure, but she knew she was tired.

This was certainly... something? This was definitely something. Astria couldn't quite put her mind around the chain of events that just happened. A sudden trap had caught the two women in a pit, though thankfully an old mattress broke their fall with a soft cushion. Before she could gather her surroundings clearly enough, the woman noticed the voice of someone from above. They tossed something down to them, which Inara promptly picked up and fired an arrow up at the hole. Realizing that they were searched, Astria quickly patted herself down and inspected her own bag to see if her coins were still present. All there and accounted for, the woman guessed that the men hadn't a clue about her being a summoner and able to harness the coins as a medium to bring in magical Saints. For the best really.

The hinges above squeaked and the latch echoed down to them, signaling that they had been sealed inside whatever sort of underground ruins they were in now. Barely able to see around herself, Astria slowly stood up and tried to figure out a way out. It would be simple enough to destroy the bars keeping them in here, but getting up and out of the hole well above them was something else. "Don't worry about it, really. I certainly didn't think my day would end up here, but this is far from dire circumstances, so it'll work out- though I'm not sure exactly how, I'm confident in our ability to work this out." Astria spoke, truly not blaming Inara for their predicament, and instead trying to remain optimistic about their situation even if it was admittedly difficult to do in this situation, that being captive for some obscure reason.

Inara had revealed a secret path, not unlike the stone in the wall before, and now they had another source of light, this time coming from flickering firelight. Astria could over hear some conversation going on down the tunnel, it sounded like a group of men chuckling over something. A sudden yelp from Inara, got Astria to almost jump ten feet into the air, surprised and startled from a man that almost soundlessly got up behind them. Quite a large man, Astria had to look up at him to be able to look him in the eyes, but nonetheless he seemed to be rather nice. Motioned to go over towards the drinking table, Astria didn't feel like there was much choice involved and so went over to the table with Inara. Astria wasn't sure how to feel about their predicament right then, as the man seemed to be nice enough to explain their situation to them- something about finding buried treasure for the thieves on the surface, but at the same time this man seemed far too "in the know" on the women- being able to accurately guess at their abilities without so much as an inkling given to him.

Regardless, they now seemed to be forced into a position of having to find some buried treasure, whether it be an amulet or some old coin, and then the man would happily escort them out of this dungeon. Astria wasn't too sure how much she could keep up with this day- having been run ragged from the start, the woman was frankly exhausted. Clearly sensing this, or perhaps it could be easily read on their faces, the man started to chuckle at the question that was obviously forming in Astria's mind. "Don't worry your pretty little heads about it just yet. It's late, we're drunk, so lets just sleep the night away and wake up first thing to go treasure hunting." The man spoke, answering Astria's question, but also raising another one- that being where would they sleep? In the corner of the room, the man pointed to a small cot that almost seemed to small to hold one person let alone two, and yet he insisted that Astria and Inara to sleep there and the men would be perfectly fine in their chairs. Too tired from the day to think things through and further then that, Astria took the lead and while attempting to take up as little room as possible, laid in the cot. "Well at least we get to rest. Lets just try to make the best of it." Astria spoke in a whisper to Inara, continually trying to remain optimistic about their situation.

Honesty without tact is cruelty.

Inara was exhausted, so any sort of rest seemed fine to her. Until the man pointed out the cot. It was rather small even by her standards, and she was a rather small person in the first place. She sighed. There was a stone floor beneath it, and she was used to sleeping outdoors anyway. "If you have a spare blanket, I can take the floor. If not, I suppose my cloak will suffice." She was sure Astria would protest, because she was so kind. But Inara got in first. "After the day you have had on my account, it's the least I can do in return." The large quiet man brought her a rough camping blanket and she it out on the floor, deciding her cloak would be best for covering. She sat on the blanket a moment, and took off the cloak and the bow and quiver strapped underneath. She didn't bother removing her sword belt. Instead she held up the little ring she had been intending to give to Kitania and sighed. It was still pretty, if a bit dirty from hitting the floor. She stuck it in a pocket on her cloak and laid back. She was exhausted. Her last real thought before sleep claimed her was that the ring wasn't worth this much trouble. At all.

She woke to the sound of voices before the sun was up. She tried to pay attention, but her brain told her she needed more sleep, so she turned over and got back to it. When she woke again there was someone shaking her. No light was readily visible, and she couldn't say she was surprised. It could have been anytime. This far underground it was hard to tell. "Come on lass. Time to wake up. We've work to do. Quickly now. You've a bit of warm bread and a bit of porridge waiting. Come on. Up." She groaned, the day and probably night before flooding back. With a sigh she stood and made it to the table, eating the bit of plain fare laid out for her. They gave her a cup of clear water to wash it all down, and she rolled the blanket she'd slept on back up. The quiet man came to collect it. She stretched, arms cracking. "How did you sleep?" She gave a small smile as she slid her bow back in place and put on her cloak. "It wasn't too bad for stone. Dirt is better though. Grass is best." That gave the man cause to laugh.

"So where precisely are we meant to go hunting for this treasure?" They pointed at a dark tunnel leading off from the opposite side of the dungeon. It's path went downward the dirt easily visible. She gave another sigh. She wanted dirt and grass. She was sick to death of underground. She missed trees and sunshine. "What, specifically are we digging around in there for?" She gave a small wince as one of her stretches reminded her of her previous injuries. The men didn't notice, or just didn't care. "There's a lost treasure buried in the ruins here, or so they say. We've searched for it a long time, and have come fairly close to getting it more than once. The problem is, we don't have magic. And there is a guard set on the treasure. A guard that we can't fight. She gave a small groan. "What sort of guard?"
