Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Astria wasn't sure whether or not to she should take that announcement seriously. This place was quite literally full of clowns, and so it was possible that this was all just an elaborate joke, albeit wasn't that funny of one as the mage had seriously not signed up for this. In today's age of businesses competing against one another, it was possible this was what it took to drum up talk of the place and by extension get free advertisement. Still from the reactions of everyone else here, they seemed to be taking this very seriously. They were gossiping in awe about what kind of creatures they would each turn into, and a few of them even mentioned what they had turned into the last time they were here. With everyone else in the restaurant taking the announcement so seriously, Astria was starting to feel a nervous knot in her gut. "I really hope she's not serious, but I have a very bad feeling about this." Astria replied back to Inara, trying to get her usual tone of confidence and optimism in there, but it just wasn't coming through as well as she would have liked.

Seeing the other patrons slowly start to transform into different species before her eyes made Astria more and more nervous about what she herself would turn into and even more so, what it would feel like. It was one thing to feel injuries from traveling or battles, but it was another to be turned into an animal? How could that even be described as? As Astria could start to feel the magic of the elixir start to work its magic inside her body, Astria started to worry about more sensible questions, like if she could use her magic as an animal. What if something bad was to happen while they were all animals, what then? How long would this whole transformation last? And actually the most important question to her was, why wasn't any of this listed on the menus? The young girl's head was bubbling to the brim with questions, and for once she didn't have the answers to them.

Sensations traveled all over Astria's body. Initially a tingling sensation on the surface of her skin, the mage could feel it start to sink deeper inside of her until her stomach had a slight pain in it. It felt strange, unnatural, and since the woman had no idea what she was actually going to turn into, it was especially terrifying. For a moment everything went black, and Astria considered the possibility that she had somehow had a defective elixir and was in the process of dying from it, however that was not the case as when she opened her eyes, nothing immediately seemed wrong to her.

Her mind was still in tact, that much was obvious from how she was thinking to herself. Her vision was the same, her sense of smell, taste, and hearing however all seemed to be magnified and it was indeed obnoxious. Blinking a few times, Astria tried to speak up to Inara, or at least the owl in her place, but all the came out was a bark. Surprised by the sound, Astria could feel her ears perk up, giving away her shock, and upon lowering them again, the mage started to stomp her feet around. Four paws responded and in a fit of surprise the mage jumped up, though she was now a dog rather than a true mage, and examined what she could of her new body. She seemed to be a short dog, not exactly long either, and though she was primarily a light blonde color of fur, tints of blue could be seen in the coat. Also a bit odd the bandana Astria had previously been wearing on her head, had somehow transitioned itself into a rather cute bandana tied around her neck. Of all the animals in the animal kingdom to turn into a dog certainly wasn't all that bad to her, but still this seemed a bit dangerous. Attempting to speak to Inara again, both to convey her emotions and to wonder about what to do, Astria's words, now in the language of dog barks, wouldn't be coherent to the other creature.

Inara was shifting from owl foot to owl foot. She couldn't understand the bar's coming from Astria and she was scared. She didn't want to look like this forever. She wanted to look like herself. And she wasn't sure if she would be able to get to her magic from this state anyway. She couldn't feel her usual power anywhere. And it was driving her nuts. She made a sound, and all that came out was a screech, and it sounded angry even to her. She kept her eyes on the group around her, seeing them better than she could before since her owl-eyes penetrate the many darkened places around the restaurant. She wondered what had merited their particular forms. She was certain she didn't fit the wise old owl status. Did that mean she was a predator? She thought that could be true since she had hunted more than once in her life. But otherwise, she had no idea. Levy was an adorable dog, with a cute little bandana tied around her neck and a cute little bark.

Inara herself flapped her wings carefully. They were lifting her gently into the air, making her hover above the table. She thought she might quite easily learn to fly, but she was scared to leave the table, or Astria's side for that matter. She huffed, which came out as an owlish hoot, and sat on the tables edge. Apparently preening ones feathers was an owl equivalent of biting ones lip, as that is what she ended up doing. She looked around again, seeing a few of the bigger animals turning in their direction. She looked at Astria again, and squawked a warning. She was fairly certain the creatures were headed in their direction, though she couldn't fathom why they would be. It wasn't as though they were helpless animals.

As they approached she made a point of settling herself closer to her friend. She was absolutely surprised when they reached them, and did nothing. Each animal just took turns looking at them, and smelling them, and then nothing. It was like they were introducing themselves. When they began to turn back, Inara hooted a sigh of relief. Apparently they would be themselves again soon. But until then, Inara wanted to fly, just once, so she did, all the way around the room. She landed on the table again, and felt the same pain from before. She was herself again. And she was happy about it.

She heard the PA system crackle to life and "All right ladies and gents, that was found one. Who is up for a second course of my wonderful cooking?" Inara looked, round eyed, as the crowd cheered and returned to their tables. If she had her way, as soon as levy returned, they were getting out of this crazy clown house.

Confused, but slowly trying to get used to the idea of being a dog, Astria was pretty surprised how different the world around her looked. While the colors were immediately drained from the area and everything looked a bit more mono color, the minute odors and various pitches in sound that she couldn't have heard in her human form now became extra clear to her. The sudden drastic change in sensory ability was stunning and very disorientating for a few moments, but quickly adjusting to the capabilities of her new form, Astria started to understand her surroundings once more. Overall, she had to say that she would have preferred the vivid colors humans had as opposed to the various odors, as they were often times unpleasant, and the pitches, that were mostly aggravating rather than anything else.

Though only slight, Astria felt a bit of accomplishment and joy in the fact that she was able to so easily come to terms with her new form, or at least the new view point everything was in, and as a result she felt something move behind her. Turning her head slightly, Astria could see the wagging of a tail, but not just any tail, her own tail! Incredibly odd to see your own tail wagging behind you, especially since moments ago Astria had no tail to speak of, the new dog Astria couldn't help but feel conflicting feelings of interest and the small desire to catch it. It was just there, waving itself back and forth, practically begging for her to catch it and then perhaps chew on it a bit. It took a very long minute, but eventually Astria realized what she was thinking, and had to slowly turn her head back forward in that silent shame where she could only hope that no one saw her stare at her own tail in such a way.

At the sudden sound of wings flapping, Astria felt her own ears perk up, excited and interested in this new noise and what it could mean. Turning her attention next to her, she saw an owl, though she knew it to be her friend Inara, start to take flight. Proud of her for so suddenly picking up the ability to fly, Astria felt her tail wag faster and a smile come on her face, unfortunately causing her tongue to hang out a bit. A bit embarrassed, but too proud to care, Astria started to pant in the heat as she realized the heaviness of her own coating of fur and the warm day it was. Their fellow patrons, now also in animal form, seemed to be eager to run around and sniff the new air. Thankfully things were kept peaceful, though Astria wasn't entirely sure why, since many of the animals present would in fact eat each other in the wild. Regardless, she was happy to see no blood spill over this "harmless" antic in the restaurant.

Not a lot of time passed it felt like, but before they knew it Astia felt a similar sensation as before and in an instant reverted back to her same human-self as before. She had to admit, though unexpected and temporarily frightening, Astria enjoyed the little experience and clearly the rest of the customers did as well. As fun as it was however, Astria wasn't sure if she could trust the loony owner to not do something crazy and with that in mind, she turned towards Inara. "That was fun and all, but maybe we should leave before the next course starts?" Astria suggested to her eating buddy and after leaving some money to pay for her meal- a bit pricy though that was probably due to the show they went through- and went back out to the main street.

Inara agreed heartily that it was time to go. There was only so much surprise she was willing to take when it came to feed. Ketchup salad was one thing, magical form changing ketchup salad was a whole other ball park, which she had no intentions of attending. Ever again. At least the facade of the building was memorable, and she would know to avoid it in future. "I take it you were unaware of the antics?" She said to Astria as the again felt the streets beneath their feet and were assaulted with the sights and smells afforded them in this night market. She was still hungry, but more wary now, though the various wares being hawked were making her hungrier by the minute. After Quinn's, she thought that most of the places were a bit too shady, and she didn't quite trust their food. A few blocks away from the restaurant, there was a simple booth set up, with a simple sign and seemingly simple fare. Burgers and fries, chocolate deserts, various drinks on offer on the menu. She pointed it out to Astria, walking slowly in that direction. She was quite tired at this point, the transformations seeming to have taken most of her strength.

The man behind the booth was a balding fat man with a dirty apron on, and smiling eyes. Inara smiled at him. "May I ask what you would recommend? And if your food has any odd side effects?" Experience was the best teacher of caution. The man looked at her a bit funnily, as if she'd said something strange. Then a light shown in his blue eyes and he laughed, a not unpleasant sound. "You must've been to Quinn's tonight. Horrid food, awful side effects, in my opinion. Makes for more wary consumers." He promised her there was nothing unusual about his food, and recommended both the bacon cheeseburger, and the chocolate brownie cakes with cream cheese icing from the menu. She ordered both and took a seat at one of the tables arranged around the side of the booth. She wasn't certain if Astria was hungry or not, but the man waited to take her order as well, just the same. She eyed the crowd as she waited. She could smell the meat cooking and in light of her recent experiences, the lack of cursing seemed like a good sign.

"So, Astria. I believe I was asking you what you were doing here before we were so rudely interrupted." She laughed a little, not one to be kept down for long. It was high past time for most normal people to be indoors, or at the very least getting ready to be. Still the streets of Oshibana bristled with people, looking, buying, selling and yelling. She was ecstatic when her food finally arrived, the seller being kind enough to give her a milkshake with her order since she had neglected to order a drink. He gave her another smile as he set them down, and she dug in without much thought to how unladylike her eating appeared. She'd been starving all day, and this seemed a godsend at the moment.

She scarfed the burger in under five minutes, and ate the rest more slowly, savoring the tastes that mixed and mingled in the desserts. As she was finishing her brownie, a new development occurred. A petty theif, eyeing the back of her chair and the small bag slung there containing Kitania's present, walked up gingerly and made a grab at it. The old vendor cried out even as the man touched it, alerting Inara to the theifs presence. She jumped up quickly, but the man was lithe as a shadow, and he danced away quickly into the crowd. Without much thought, she pursued, yelling Stop! Thief! She chased him into a darkened alleyway, far off the main street on which she and Astria had been eating. She sighed. Where could one hide in a dead end alley? She heard a small click, as of a latch catching, and knew it was far less than a dead end. She ran her hands around the stones that made the walls, and found a small niche, no bigger than two fingers, which did not seem to quite fit with the rest of the well made and relatively new stones. She poked around a bit and found a small button, which she pushed.

The effect was instant, the wall rolling back silently into itself to reveal a hidden passageway. It was dark and dingy, and she could still hear the thief's footsteps echoing up to her from down the apparently long stairway that stretched into the darkness before her. To go or not to go? That was the question.

Back on the streets of Oshibana with Inara, Astria had to readily nod in agreement to the woman's question. If Astria had known about the crazy shenanigans that go on inside that restaurant then no way would she have gone there. It honestly looked like a good old fashioned family restaurant with a clown theme, albeit a rather creepy clown theme, but it hardly hinted at the crazy polymorphing that would transpire. On the one hand, Astria could see how the gimmick was incredibly catchy for some, after all there were an ample amount of people knowing and ready to eat Quinn's crazy food, but since both the girls were unaware the whole experience was rather scary instead of crazy-fun. Having another food place pointed out to her, this time a more informal stand, Astria hoped that it was a bit more conventional and the food here wouldn't have them both be bats or something crazy again.

As if already in the know about their circumstances, the large balding man in the apron managed to guess what had happened from the look on their faces. Thinking about it a bit further, Astria had to admit that there was some strategically sound reasons for positioning his food stand just outside of Quinn's restaurant as people would leave there, most likely exhausted or terrified, he could comfort them with good ol' fashion food. Not to mention that it was likely that they didn't eat much from the other place given the weird effects in the ingredients and that they would be transformed before they could take anything more than a few bites. Taking Inara's order first, Astria kept it a bit simpler asking only for his bacon cheeseburger as something to settle her stomach. The burger she ordered from Quinn's did look delicious indeed, but it was unfortunate that she wasn't given much of a chance to enjoy it. With that in mind, and the promise that this man's food didn't contain any crazy side effects, Astria decided to fill up on it.

Waiting alongside Inara, the summoner was poised the same question as before- evidently the sudden transformations got in the way of a coherent answer. "Oh, Hmm, really just more traveling. I suppose I am looking for certain relics, but that applies to every place I go really. I knew the shops here were bustling and busy, similar to my own Onibas, but I would have to say that Lotus Street has this place beat by a long shot." Astria explained her situation to Inara, repeating the same answer as before. Astria watched the bustling streets of Oshibana as she spoke, smiling at the reminiscent feeling she was having over this place being so similar to her home town. It was quite rare to find a place as satisfying to enjoy as her own home, but Oshibana was pretty close in that regard, though Astria would have to make sure to remember the perks of being a native to Onibas and just like that Oshibana became very much second-rate in comparison.

When their orders were up and ready, Astria was surprisingly delighted to the man offering a milkshake along with it. Simultaneously, Astria chuckled to herself forgetting to order a drink, but also turned down the milkshake, instead wanting just a glass of water. Astria didn't have a particularly strong sweet tooth and so something like a milkshake as hearty as what the man was offering was simply just too much for the mage, besides that the water would help ease her a bit more as well. Biting into it right away, Astria was pleasantly delighted to find that it was indeed a natural burger and didn't taste like someone had mixed in elixirs, which prior to her trip into Quinn's Astria couldn't "boast" about knowing what that tasted like. Finishing off her order quickly enough, she placed a hand on her belly which signaled that she was full and satisfied. Not extraordinarily special the burger was excellently made and seasoned so it felt really heartwarming and nostalgic feeling in her stomach.

Perhaps it was because of just having eaten a good meal, or maybe it was the lazy nostalgic emotions she was feeling, but either way Astria was caught entirely off guard by the sudden theft that went by her very eyes. In just a moment some daylight thief swiped Inara's small bag and though everyone shouted at him as an alert, the deed was done. However for Astria, she wasn't going to just let some common crook get away with something like that right in front of her. Chasing after with Inara, Astria considered summoning out one of her Saints, but decided against it ultimately because she thought that the two of them could handle it well enough. The thief didn't seem like he was much of a magic user, so it was likely that they would just need to chase him into a corner and could apprehend him. At least that was what Astria was hoping as she started to take the lead on the chase.

Though the two women ended up chasing the thief into a dead-end alleyway, there was no signs of him being there. True there was a slight noise heard that resembled the sounds of a door opening or closing, but with the walls seemingly being composed of solid stone there wasn't a clear path before them. Inara's instincts were evidently more keen than Astria's own in that situation, the summoner watched the blonde run her fingers along the stones before finding a small button which triggered a secret entrance in the walls. A dark passageway appeared before them and as the echos of the theif's footsteps could be heard going down the staircase they didn't have much time left before he completely alluded them. "C'mon we need to catch him!" Astria said as she charged after the man. Trying to to be careful, but also speedy, it was difficult to see what was a head in the darkness. Astria was still pretty sure that she could hear the footsteps and given how narrow the passageway was, there could only be one path so it was also likely that they wouldn't lose him. What did have Astria troubled was how the thief would know about this passageway. Just from this resource alone this guy had to be something a bit more than your everyday common crook, and that alone got Astria quite nervous about what was to come.

As the steps eventually ended, the ground below them changed from the dark wood of the steps to a stone similar to the walls around them, but the passage was just as narrow. An incredibly feint light was coming from the other end, but aside from that there was nothing in the way of light. Astria would have loved to just summon Kuzo and just let her own speedster chase the thief down, but there were too many unknowns currently and would rather use him in a more open space. If something were to happen in a place as narrow as this one then it would surely just get them all hurt in the end. At the end of the path, the light became brighter before opening up to a rather spacious chamber. The chamber has three open doorways that seemed to lead to similarly darker tunnels, and just as Astria ran through she could see someone almost to the opening on the other side of the space. Not wanting to lose him, now that she was given this opportunity, Astria wielding one of her coins needed in her magic. "I pay homage to the Saint of Valor, Kuzo." An incantation she had recited many times before, and just like before a magical seal came around the coin and out from it a man dressed in a type of tribal gear appeared. Having that special bond between summoner and summon, the Saint appeared and was already sprinting towards the thief, his own speed buff active. Blazing far faster than anyone else in the room, Kuzo caught up to the man and in a display of agility and strength, he aimed to slide ahead of the thief and trip him up.

Inara hurried after Astria, her skirts catching her up just once on the narrow stairway. She tucked them up and into her sword belt, enough out of the way to keep her from falling, but still covered by her many layers of petticoats. This night had quickly turned exhausting. First the polymorph, now chasing some low life bandit into the middle of nowhere, underground on a darkened stairway. She was more than a little aggravated by the nights turn of events.

There was a glimmer of light at the end of the way, bobbing weakly this way and that. Inara kept on hand firmly on the wall beside her, feeling the rough stone which was growing steadily damp as they descended. She used it to keep herself upright, and she was grateful for the help. Astria had outpaced her by quite a bit when she came to the open room at the bottom. She heard Astria yell something, and suddenly a man in strange dress was there, zooming after the thief. Inara stood stock still in wonder as she tried to figure out what had just happened. It was apparent Astria was a mage, but she had never met a Summoner of any kind. Still, the strange man's speed put him ahead of time he thief quite easily. He put out a foot to trip him, but the thief had a surprise of his own.

He seemed to trip easily enough over the extended foot, but his fall was too graceful to be unintentional. He slid easily last the man who had 'made' him fall and into and under a small opening, hardly visible to the naked eye until attention was drawn to it. Inara heard a slight splash, and then the clanging of metal, as of a grating or door closing.

She looked at Astria, frowning slightly. "Well, that was certainly a twist. Do you think we would fit down there?" Inara eyed the small opening. She was sure she could slide through, but she wasn't sure she would like what was on the other side. The ring might not have cost much, but it was the principle that was bothering her. It wasn't in her to just let him get away, not if she could help it.

Thinking they had the thief outmaneuvered, Astria hadn't put much thought into the possibility of their being any secret traps or openings in the area. True it was a bit of overconfidence in the situation as this was an unknown hideout and Astria had no idea what the location could offer the thief, but even still she thought that it wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately for her, she was wrong. Kuzo, with his vast superiority in speed, hadn't even considered for a moment that the thief was tricking them. He actually thought that his sweep easily knocked him over. However, like Astria, Kuzo's overconfidence was literally his undoing. With his lackadaisical trip, the theif easily managed to tumble over and escape through a narrow passageway hidden in the chamber. Surprised, mainly caught off guard, Kuzo didn't have the reaction time to think about grabbing him or otherwise stopping him from getting away, but alas he was unable.

Slightly embarrassed over the circumstances, Astria tried to play it off with a care-free chuckle and wide grin, while really she was feeling more or less responsible for messing up and was dumbstrucken on the inside. Kuzo, prideful yet embarrassed, seemed to be trying to play the whole thing off as being nothing more than the thief simply being quicker than him- somehow- and just tumbled away easily. His facial expression had that kind of look that said "well met excellent opponent" and yet it was clear to everyone here that Kuzo was the quicker one and just got tricked by the thief. That said, Astria certainly wouldn't point that out to him, she knew how sensitive the ex-tribal leader's pride could be.

Walking over the small opening with her own summon and Inara, Astria took a pondering look to it. "I think we could squeeze through it, though clearly not all at the same time. The only problem is that we do not know what is going on below. From the sounds of everything, I believe that their is some kind of waterway under here, but I just can't be very sure about that," Astria spoke while slowly walking around the opening, trying to see if she could figure it out. With no really concise way to determine what was going on below, Astria came to the unfortunate decision. "We have to go below one way or the other. We can't just let him get away!" With that statement made, Astria still wasn't sure of what the best way to go about the path below. It could be a rampaging river of rapids, or perhaps a more mellow course of river. Either way, they would be sent on an almost otherworldly adventure.
