Blitz splashed each section of the fountain accordingly, being careful not to overspill more than necessary - no telling if the water staying in the fountain was a part of this or not - and matched the color combinations shown. After a moment, the other colors faded out, and orange overtook the entire fountain display. Blitz let his extra fists faded, and glanced down at the colored board he'd gotten from the cranky shopkeeper - the orange section on it, more precisely. If he recalled right, the edges of the orange had faded first, then moved inward toward the center, sort of like how a power-outage in reverse might appear - the areas farthest from the center losing power first instead of those closest. "You do realize that you've been playing with water while we're on a schedule, right?" said Shoop from atop his head. "I mean, I'm all for defeating an opponent's logic with your own, but isn't this thing time-based? What if this isn't a real clue and he's just stalling for time by pretending to help?" "True, this could be just a play for time," Blitz said, still looking at the board, "But there's a chance it could be a real hint. And even if it's not, he has to stop to set up each of these little distractions - the board here, the fountain, etc - so it's like the lightshow up above, in a way - if there's a pattern to be found here, then it might also be a nice breadcrumb trail to wherever he's hiding." "One you might not reach before he moves again if you stop to play each one," muttered Shoop almost too low to hear. "A fair point, but I'll jump through his hoops for now on the assumption this has a pay-off of some kind." Blitz said. Okay, so if it's anything like the red one, the last one to fade should be the next location, he mused, looking at the board's orange segment. Blitz took to the air, soaring over the rooftops and streets below, until he reached the area where the orange part had been - and more importantly, over a long stretch of road that ran down the middle of that part of the city. Blitz descended, landing neatly in the street's middle, and glanced around - no cars or shops open. There were signs with orange and white stripes a ways down - construction, then, Blitz thought. That helps. Less distractions. Blitz didn't see any immediate clues, and there was no one around to ask this time, so Blitz closed his eyes for a moment. "Hey, Morgan." "Yes, sir?" said a rather formal-sounding voice, as a small orb of light the size of a baseball hovered up over Blitz shoulder. "I need the Thermal Vision filter." "Right away, sir." Morgan said with a slight bob of his light-self, before a band of red light stretched itself across Blitz's eyes like a visor. In his new spectrum of vision, he could see nearby heat sources as light. Glancing around, there was no sign of any humans, the challenger or otherwise. What did catch his eye, just as he was about to move to look elsewhere, was a small thermal blip - a bird perched on an awning. Blitz disabled the filter - the bird was the same orange color as the lights. This mystery man is surprisingly varied in his themed for this, Blitz thought. Must be a color mage. First the fountain, then the birds. It would certainly explain the mid-air light show when this thing kicked off. Blitz flew up to the height of the street's awnings, the bird flapping away at his sudden presence in the air nearby. Blitz was considering following when he noted a glint of light from inside the nest. Peering over the edge, he saw a small letter, which he carefully plucked from the twigs and straw. A small, golden e. And that bird didn't look like a magpie, Blitz reasoned. No reason to pick this up. He tossed it lightly into the air, just a few inches high, and caught it again. And a bird that size shouldn't be able to lift something with this much weight easily, even if the nest itself can hold it. It would need a big reason to try that, and the bird has none. Guess we found the second hint, Blitz thought. Blitz made a sweep of the awnings and rooftops along the street, thinking that maybe if the man had recruited one bird's nest, he'd recruited more. And his guess paid off - there were multiple letters tucked away in a series of nests along that street. Apparently a small flock of the birds had moved in recently, drawn by the quiet due to the construction. Eventually, after one more lap around to make sure he hadn't missed one, in the process discovering an additional two he'd nearly missed before, not thinking to look that far down the first time around, he had them, and laid them on the ground in order he'd found them - e, l, o, w, l, y, n, r, e, g, p, and b. "I'm assuming we have to scramble these a bit, as I'm not getting anything from 'Elowlynregpb'." said Shoop with sarcasm. "Indeed," said Blitz, "But you do have a slight point." Blitz moved the letters forming the word 'lowly' out. "In case that's a word, we can keep that, but leaves us with the rest." After a moment, though, Blitz added the letters back in, only able to make 'Be Pure' from the remainder, which made no sense here. "We can make the next color, though," noted Blitz, moving the letters to spell 'Yellow'. "Which leaves us with 5 left. So....Pub....and then maybe the er.....Yellower Pub?" Blitz said aloud, a bit skeptical. Blitz grabbed the letters and took to the air, a bit uneasy about the clue, but the last clue in the red had led to the orange section, so maybe this orange clue led to the yellow one. Blitz stayed on that street, but squinted, trying to make out if there were any signs for pubs over the area where the yellow lights had been lit. |

The challenger was on the right track ... at first. His guess of the word yellow was about as far as he had gotten though. Whatever he had come up with passed that point would only stall him. The letters were in fact as useful as a wild guess, then again a wild guess might've gotten him there faster if he was lucky. The clues were actually placed in a way that would stall the challenger, but they were all within the same theme, which were colors of the light spectrum. The first clue was the last hologram that had lit out in the red area. Starting with red made sense, since it was the first color in the light spectrum. The second clue led him to the orange area, but that was only because he had beat the game of Simon-says which was also used as a way to lead the challenger to the next area. However, if the challenger had missed on of the patterns by accident, or out of error, the fountain would have lit up with that color anyway, which would have led him to that area. The case was the same with the clues in the orange area. The letters were meant to taunt the challenger. That is if had had understood what the clue really meant. The letters if placed in the correct order using the right letters each time and not reserving any letter for any one word, and placing the right letters upside down, would write out every other color except red and orange. With the challenger on the longest track, the man was sure that the record of being found all three times in one day was definitely out of reach. At the rate the challenger was going, he would need all three day days at least to find him. "And he calls himself a challenger," the maned sighed, sitting in a comfortable seat with a drink in hand, looking out to the city. From where he was he could see every move the challenger made. "This isn't a challenge at all." Meanwhile, the challenger was looking toward the yellow area. The light had faded row by row from bottom to top in that area, and as the challenger would observe the area from afar he would see that the area was built in a stair like fashion, where the building were stacked up to look like a stair way or how seats would be arranged in a theater. The area was entirely residential, and houses were painted with either a blue or a purple hue. The color of the houses wasn't the most notable thing about the area though, but rather the exquisite foliage. It seemed like the residents had a particular affection for well groomed greenery. Oddly enough, from the angle the challenger was looking the plants created a very distinct pattern of triangles. The whole area was a big triangle, and within it was another, and within that another, and so on. Within each big triangle was a smaller one, until the smallest triangle, which surrounded a house that was unlike the others. It was the only green colored house sitting among houses of blue and violet. |

He had guessed the color correctly, he felt - they'd gone in the order of the rainbow so far - but there wasn't a pub sign to be seen anywhere in the yellow section that had been lit up when this whole thing started. "I'm guessing we need to come up with some other idea." noted Shoop after a moment. Blitz sighed. "Perhaps you're right. 'Yellower Pub' was a bit of a stretch, anyway." Blitz flew back down, landing next to where he had left the golden letters laying in the street. "I wonder, do we even need these?" Blitz said, gesturing at the golden letters. "Probably not, at least not anymore," said Shoop. "Or do you mean as a hint in general?" Blitz nodded. "The colors have been going in order, right? Red,then orange, now yellow. Much as I think 'yellower pub' wasn't the right way to go with that hint, the fact that I could only spell that one color out of all the ones we saw is a clue in itself." "So what, just ignore the hints in each area of the colors and speed right through the colors in order?" Shoop said. "Technically, we could just speed right across the way and go comb the violet area for the guy," Blitz said, looking over towards the area the violet lights had been over. "But then we'd have to comb the area by hand, which could still take awhile, and he might go to ground if we just happen to fly overhead." "Uh, why would he go to ground? Isn't he already hiding, with you trying to find him as the whole point of this mission?" Shoop asked awkwardly. Blitz sighed. "You know what I mean. He'd change hiding spots before we found him. We need to find him at least once to call this mission a success. For now, we'll stick to the color pattern, but if we get crunched for time, we'll just ignore the pattern and head straight to Violet to find the guy." Shoop nodded. "Fair enough." Blitz took to the air again, flying over the rooftops to cross over into the Yellow sector, noting the arrangement of the houses. "Hey, doesn't that look like-" "Yeah," Blitz said, cutting him off, "The colors left and the triangles like the sky." Blitz looked over the houses, then kept going. "What, not even going to look at the one house that's a different color from the rest?" Shoop asked, as if making sure. Blitz nodded. "All the riddles thus far just led us to the next color. The red fountain led us to orange, the orange letters to yellow. Now it's the yellow-area house telling us to go to green. We've seen what we needed to in order to ensure we're at least following the trail of hints correctly." Blitz sped past the houses, heading straight for the Green area. |

Sitting in his high chair, the man began to think that might have underestimated his challenger. At first it seemed like he might continue to be stalled by the meaningless hints and clues, but the challenger had caught light of the essential pattern to it all. The man was fair and honorable, and thus he would never try to leave his hiding spot before the seeker found him, or gave up. "Humph, I guess I'm going to have to turn it up a notch in the second round." Meanwhile, the challenger was heading towards the green area. The previous hint was obvious, that is where it was leading the challenger to. The game master had predicted that if the challenger had made it that far that he would need a little jog in memory. Though, if had recalled the lights in the green area turned off outside in. The hint from the yellow area was pretty much telling him the same thing; head for the center of the green area. By then it was only a matter of how fast the challenger could react. The hints were getting easier, oddly enough. Once the challenger would reach the center of the green area, he would land on top of a reflection of himself. The skies were clear, so most of the mirror was reflecting the blue sky. There was a trick however, as the challenger would head to the blue area. Even if he did remember the pattern which the lights turn off in, it wouldn't matter, because there were no more clues. The blue area was meant to keep anyone who hadn't figured out the bigger picture wander around and lose track of time as they would try and find any sign of a hint or the man. But it was impossible. The man was in the purple area. And to anyone who got the idea, it was obvious from the start that everything before that was a cruel joke. The only problem was that, as it was, there were no more clues. Even if the challenger could remember how the lights turned off in the purple area, he would know that it was random. There was no particular pattern to it. So then, how was he supposed to find him? Time was running out after all. At that point it was up to the challenger to try and find the game master. All it was now, was a simple game of hide and seek. The challenger knew how the man looked like from the holograms he had seen, so he just needed to use his resources and search the purple area. Whether he would be able to find the man or not was up to his abilities. And there was no doubt that the man himself was a master of hide and seek. Here's where the challenger would prove himself. |

Blitz soared past the green house among the violet and blue ones, heading straight for the area that had been illuminated with green lights when this whole thing began. Recalling how the lights had gone out - starting from the outside and working their way to the inner dots - Blitz flew towards the center of that section of the city, roughly where the last green light should have winked out overhead. In the center of that part of the city was a large-sized mirror, pointing directly up, with no other obvious signs of something being manipulated nearby. Blitz hovered overhead briefly, sparing a glance at his own reflection, before looking over the rest of what the mirror showed. "Blue. Blue sky. Okay, next one." Blitz said after a moment, gaining some altitude before soaring off towards the next and final area, the one that had been lit up with purple lights. Blitz came to a halt in the air over the center part of that area, looking around for anything that immediately stood out - nothing did. "Hey, guys - the pattern of lights over the purple area when this whole thing started - there wasn't an order to the pattern they winked out in, was there?" Blitz said, fairly sure there wasn't, but wanted to double check with his companions in case they had caught something he hadn't. "I don't recall seeing any real pattern," Shoop said. "Nor did I, Master Blitz." added Morgan. Blitz sighed slightly, then turned to the city below. "Well, at least the light display run-around is over with. Time to finish up this search the old-fashioned way. In a manner of speaking, that is." Blitz glanced at his floating companion. "Morgan, give me the filter again." A thin layer of red light coated Blitz's irises, coloring the world in shades of grey, oranges and reds to indicate heat sources - like other human bodies, for example. "Alright, I'll use Thermal Vision and Radar Sense to search for this guy's body heat and magical signature. Morgan, Shoop, you two keep an eye out for him the old-fashioned way, since we know what he looks like." Blitz said, moving downward to be closer to the level where other people were. "That could work," Shoop said as Blitz flew low over one of the streets, glancing every which way he could, "But what about you? Don't all the figures look kinda alike in color with that Thermal Filter engaged?" "Somewhat," Blitz said, his gaze flickering from person to person, "But since we know what he looks like, it gives me just enough of an edge to use Thermal, or rather, to merit using Thermal. It showed most of his body, so I have a fair idea of what his proportions are like - I just need to keep an eye out for anyone close to that body type, and ignore the rest, unless my Radar Sense detects something odd from one of them." "Fair enough." Shoop concluded, and assisted Morgan in scanning the streets for the one they were looking for, this mystery man and host of the city-wide hide and seek game. |

The challenger's attempts were commendable. However, his method wasn't the most efficient nor the best for this particular circumstance. The game master had anticipated the use of form seeking technology and magic. This wasn't his first time playing hide and seek. To counter such contraptions, the game master chose to hide in the upper class district. There, only the most beautiful of people lived and most of them had similar figures. With an average build, and no unique features, the challenger would have to go through half of the population and still might not find him. He needed a different approach. This was a game of hide and seek after all. So instead of trying to look for someone that resembles the hologram, the challenger would need to search in every nook and cranny of the purple district. The game master was an expert hider, so it wasn't going to be easy. Following the classic rules of hide and seek, his best bet was to search in the most unlikely places any human being would probably be. There were many possibilities. Heck, if the challenger didn't have a practical method of comparing and deducing, none of his devices would be of any help. What he needed to do was investigate. Up until now, the game had a consistent theme. The game master wouldn't want to deviate from that theme, not after he had committed himself to it for so long. The challenger would need to think back to every one of the previous clues which he had been presented with. There was a clear picture drawn. Colors of the light spectrum ... a rainbow ... the end of a rainbow ... a pot of gold ... |

Blitz flew over the city, looking back and forth, keeping an eye out for anyone who even roughly resembled the person they were looking for, their stature. Problem being that everyone in this district was roughly the same in terms of body shape, so using the Thermal filter to scan for people wasn't as effective as he had first thought. He was getting alot of unintentional copy-cats on the screen. Well, so much for that idea, Blitz thought. "We're changing up the strategy a bit," Blitz said to Morgan and Shoop. "Keep your eyes peeled for the guy, we're going to be checking some other areas." Blitz took a sharp right down a nearby alley, scanning back and forth for some sign of life - if he wasn't hiding in plain sight, perhaps he was just hiding the old-fashioned way. Then something occurred to him at the thought of the phrase 'old-fashioned'. They were forgetting something, as they still had one last clue to go off - the violet lights. Blitz flew up and out of the alley, shooting up until he was a respectable distance over the city. "What are you looking for?" asked Shoop. "The clues up until now were all color-based, right?" Blitz said. "Yeah, what about it? Those were just red herring to lead us on a merry jaunt through the city to buy time while the real guy hid, right? You yourself said as much." Blitz nodded. "True, that's what I thought at the time, and I'm still convinced the individual clues were mostly time-wasters, but the overall theme might not have been." "How do you figure?" Shoop asked, somewhat perplexed. Blitz pointed at the area below. "This was the violet area of the city, right? And all the lights faded out in patterns, except for this one. The lights didn't seem to fade in any particular order that I saw." "Again, how does this help us?" asked Shoop, eager to get to the point of this. Blitz sighed. "It's the colors of the rainbow. We've noted that before, but not the message behind it. What's at the end of a rainbow?" Comprehension dawned on Shoop's face. "Ahhh, I see!" Blitz nodded with a smile. "Exactly. If we head to the area right under where the very last violet light faded, not unlike how we did with the red light, the guy should be someplace nearby!" Blitz shot down, aiming for the spot where the last light had winked out in the night sky and the buildings below. "Keep your eyes peeled, he should be close!" |

(Shooting at the dark here to get things started) Following the city lights of the violets led to a nearby alleyway. A neon pot of gold was there on the building, located near the edge of the allyway. Blitz would find a series of dumpsters--- And movement was behind one of them! A kid in a hoodie, looking to be about 16 years old. As Blitz would soon find him, the kid would jump in surprise. "Shit!" he jumped, looking at him and recognizing the strange attire, metal arm, and shoop on his head. "And they call me the weird one." He backed up a bit till he was up to the wall. "ALright... alright, you caught me once. Let's see how you track me down this time." Suddenly, there was a flicker of lights, like static, and he was gone. Teleportation magic. He would be difficult to catch. However, where he vanished now was left with a card. As Blitz would find it, he could soon see a message on it. "What glitters blinds, What reflects deceives, Where this is in abundance, That's where you will find me" |

Blitz soared over the buildings below, his eyes moving from spot to spot, looking for anyone that resembled the original picture they'd been shown when all of this began. "Down there," Shoop said, pointing. Blitz turned, about to ask him what made him so sure, when he saw what had convinced Shoop - a neon sign of a pot of gold. Something usually only found at the end of a rainbow. Blitz swooped into a dive, making a sharp turn into the alley between the buildings. He didn't have to look for very long, as right after he passed a pair of dumpsters, a kid jumped out from behind one, as if startled. "You match the description from the poster," Blitz said, pulling the mission request paper out of his pocket and tapping it with a finger. "Guess I found you, but if memory serves, there's a bonus for doing a repeat performance?" The kid agreed to another game of hide and seek - if with commentary on Blitz being 'weird', of all things - then the lights flickered and the kid was gone. "He hires people to find him while he parks his backside behind a dumpster for half the day, and I'm the weird one?" Blitz said skeptically. "Residual teleportation magic detected." noted Morgan, his orb form flashing slightly. "It seems the one who assigned the mission has the ability to warp, making this hide and seek mission slightly more difficult." "Technically, I don't have to catch him," argued Blitz, "Just find him, so as long as I actually get close enough to see him, and have him see that I found him, it counts, even if he warps away. So I don't think it helps him hide much, just helps him move to a new spot once we've found him." "Couldn't he use that to jump from spot to spot while you're still searching?" asked Shoop. "I suppose so, but he stuck around here even after leaving clues showing that he'd be here. Thus far, he's been honest about his hints to his location. Hopefully that doesn't change." Blitz flew straight up, out of the alley between the rooftops, glancing around - maybe he had set up more clues for his second hiding spot - at the very least, he might be lucky enough to spot the flash of light as he reappeared somewhere. |

Balmung took flight in hopes to see the city from a birds- eye view of the city. From where he was flying with Shoop, he could get a view of many sights, and sections of the city. All bright and all lit with magic. Belladonna was a big city with many floors and tiers, so it would be hard to spot one key location. However, there were three locations that did stick out. One, a giant mall on the first tier floor, which was very bright and very attractive to the naked eye. Second, was an amusement park built into the highest tower of the city. It was also alluring to the eye, and drew people in. Finally, there was one place that did look different but mundain. An ICE factory, with a giant neon sign. Blitz had a choice of where to go and it could very well lead to where he should find his target. But he had to pick one and see if he was there. Truth was, any of those three could relate to the clue they were meant to follow. It was up to him to pick which one. (Either go to the mall, the amusement park, or the ice factory) |
