Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Takeshi tapped the side of his frames, an easy smile spreading across his lips as he explained to the other archivist that the glasses he wore were an extension of his magic rather than a truly physical object. "They enhance my perception, allow me to break down the process one uses to activate and carry out their magic, so I can record it." He hesitated a moment over whether or not to explain the mechanics of his magic, his inner debate punctuated by a head tilt, but eventually decided that it could do no harm -- he might even get answers to a few frustrating questions. "Information, images, magic, it's all recorded in data format. Much as I'm fond of books they're a bit outdated in terms of organization and portability." He supposed it wouldn't have been much trouble to pull up his archive and demonstrate but it felt too.. personal, too much like exposing his inner self for Takeshi to be comfortable showing off to strangers. As it was they were already getting the 'idol treatment' - his put on persona of over amiable flattery and engagement - rather than genuine interaction. Takeshi himself wasn't much of a people person... he'd just learned to fake it, incredibly well.

His vision still suffered the after effects of her -she'd identified herself as Elene- magic but the surprise of it had worn off and he felt comfortable enough to sit upright, not far apart from the side of the other man. Takeshi transfered the book that had been grinding against his spine to his lap for the time being. The spine felt soft, worn, well-loved under his fingertips. It was obviously read often. "Sorry, I'm being rude, aren't I --?" the question was rhetorical, and Takeshi continued before anyone could possibly interject to reassure him otherwise. "I suppose a proper introduction is the least I can do, though standing up is still a little out of the question. Your flash packs a bit of a punch." He chuckled at his own joke, not at all put off at being the butt of it, as he pushed his glasses further up the bridge of his nose and shared a grin with Elene in particular. "I'm Yoh," it wasn't entirely a lie... after all, what fame he did command was owed to the name and it seemed more genuine in this situation than the truth. "Did I interrupt something? I can think of a few reasons why a pretty girl and her boy of choice would come to the park on a nice day and none of them involve being tripped over by a nosy stranger." His attempt at being light-hearted was transparent, almost painfully forced. He was off his game, unbalanced, still moody from the restless night before and the fitful dreams that had accompanied it.

Though propriety dictated that the conversation between he and the other archivist be cut short - so's not to exclude Elene - he was grateful for her presence. Takeshi had purposely left out any revisitation to the topic of seeing magic in colored strands, fibers, threads, because -let's face it- that was crazy talk and he'd already made enough of a fool of himself for one day. Ai would have delighted in his clumsy interjection into their company; she would have tittered all the way through his awkward attempts to socialize there after. He hoped she was enjoying the show, wherever she was. It made him just a little pleased to think that she was. That she would have liked Elene, and teased the other man for his similarities to Takeshi (at least as far as bookishness went).

Varriden rubbed his eyes slightly. The effect was mostly gone by now, so he risked standing back up, though he opted to remain where he was. Contrary to what the Fairy mage believed, the spell had not 'scared the crap out of him' - far from it, in fact. Varriden, as an Archive mage, and thus someone who had to wait to actually see a technique performed by a mage in order to study and learn about it, was actually quite used to standing across from a mage, wondering what spell they were about to cast would actually do. Sometimes the mage told him outright or hinted, taking some of the guesswork out of it, but usually they gave a heads up on what to be careful for. Even if she'd warned them in advance that it was a blinding technique, he would have had to keep his eyes open anyway to witness the technique being cast on the two of them.

The girl introduced herself as Elene Stormwake. Sounds like a last name that one of my classmates at the academy might have taken, he thought. They always had a flair for the slightly dramatic or somewhat powerful names, like Flamebreaker or Windwhisper. Meanwhile, the other Archive mage tapped the side of his glasses for attention, and to point them out - ah, I see, they're a part of his magic the same way the glow in my eyes are a part of mine, he thought. "Interesting. The effects of Archive mage analysis techs varies, but it's the first time I've seen a tech for studying other magic that actually creates a physical object. Interesting idea, actually..." Varriden said, thinking the idea over. "Might be worth trying out later. And I can appreciate your use of digital information as a form of medium, but I grew up in Empyrea International, the capital of magical learning and information - lots of books. I got used to reading so many that the idea just stuck, I suppose."

"My own name is Varriden Stone. Nice to meet you, Elene, Yoh." Varriden had suspicions about Yoh's name, but kept them to himself - no need to cause drama or pry. Well, pry for techs, perhaps, but not their personal secrets. I'm sure he has his reasons, Varriden figured. The newcomer, however, did seem to misunderstand the reason the two were here. "Oh, nothing like that. I was just reading this book of runes when Elene walked up and started chatting with me. Honestly, we hadn't been talking for very long before you approached us. Tell me, though - do you possess any copied spells of your own? I'm curious, from one Archive to another."

Elene stood there smiling, her hands clasped behind her back as she listened to the two mages talk about their ability. It was very interesting, as she had never actually understood how Archive Magic worked. From what the two were saying it seemed like they hyper analyze the data behind the spells, then they can store those spells for later use. This meant they were not limited in the magic they could learn, but were limited by what they could store. Which from her viewpoint seemed like a lot. This meant that Archive was probably the most powerful magic around. She was envious of course but she liked her magic as well. The gold Archiver-Varriden he called himself-was obviously educated. The Gray Archiver-Yoh, as he introduced himself-had an air of the type who thought the world revolved around them. She liked Varriden well enough, and she believed Yoh was hiding his real name but she wasn't one to pry.

"Oh no, it's nothing like that Yoh. I just approached him because he was alone. Being alone on a day like this is not very fun, so I thought he could use the company."

Elene smiled politely at the two men as they exchanged information on their magic. She looked up at the blue sky, fluffy looking clouds floating aimlessly across the sky. How she wished to be one of those carefree clouds. She was stuck to this Earthland though, so she might as well make the best of it. She turned her attention back to the two men.

"You know, Yoh mentioned that he could see the magic, or more accurately the light. Could you expand on that please Yoh? I'm curious about what you saw."

Elene liked him well enough, and she was genuinely curious as to how deep an Archive mage could analyze magic. It seemed to her that he saw something Varriden either missed, or couldn't see.

Takeshi seemed relieved by Elene's assurance that he hadn't interrupted anything, though in earnest he didn't particularly care. He gave a nod and a dimpled smile in response to Verriden's introduction. It was friendly, if not as broad as the one he'd offered Elene. Gender didn't much matter to him but, in his experience, females tended to prefer a certain extra level of consideration and notice. Takeshi's lack of reverence for his own magic seemed likely to offend or at least confound the two of them, who each posed eager questions of their own in regards to it. Truth be told the little accident moments ago -in which his glasses manifested- had been the first time he'd even activated his abilities in... he couldn't even recall. Was magic so important? He got on fine without it. Still, it would be rude to brush them off. Takeshi drew himself upright as a means of delaying. Something popped in his leg, drawing a satisfied huff from him in result, and again in his back when he extended his arms above his head. It felt good to.. well, be able to freaking see straight again? Stand up without wobbling? Both, he concluded with a half-assed shrug to rotate his shoulders into comfortable working order again.

Such actions drew the hem of his shirt up unintentionally, not that Takeshi had anything to be embarrassed about. Whatever attentiveness his magic was deprived of was pumped two-fold into conditioning his body and he had the hard cut of strong abdominals to prove it - though his shirt hadn't quite ridden that high! The tapering of his upper body to his hips ended in a long, lean adonis belt that most girls seemed to appreciate. In anycase, Takeshi had the good manners to look apologetic and a little sheepish in meeting eyes with Elene after noticing his accidental exposure. His attentions switched to Verriden at that point, since it didn't seem like the archivist's interest in Takeshi's magic was going to wane anytime soon. " I do not. I find magic useful, certainly, but I've never been put in a situation where battle mechanics or the invocation of offensive - or even defensive - measures were necessary. I suppose it just.. doesn't factor into my life all that greatly or frequently, either." Again he tipped a shoulder, shrugging it off, though he offered no additional information on what did occupy his time and interest; that would be telling ~

Elene's question was more bothersome. This was why he didn't often associate with other people. Most had far too many curiosities and far too little grace to realize when their questions were prying. Still, he regarded her with a friendly face that gave no hint of his growing impatience. He was well used to putting on a good front as fans were a thousand fold worse than these two put together but he was beginning to doubt his own sanity for giving in to the sentimental want to believe he'd been led here. There was no reason he could decipher for their meeting.. Verriden, for all his abilities as an archivist, was not at alike to Takeshi's own abilities.

Takeshi had tipped his head to the side and seemed to be mulling over his answer before speaking, since the girl had overlooked his discomfort with the topic and was pressing on for her own selfish interests. "I suppose it's rather like... there is a certain color associated with all magic energy, at least as my eyes perceive it. Generally that energy is dormant - as you're not invoking your abilities - and is unobtrusive to my vision. However when magic is cast that energy...gathers, though not every strand of it is of the same color. In fact, most are varying hues and shades of one dominant color but there are outliers as well. I'm afraid I cannot give you any deeper insight into the meaning of it than that." He saw no reason to explain the full extent of his abilities; why should strangers need to know that he could observe their magic workings in the dark, or through the obstruction of various other low-visibility conditions?

Takeshi would have excused himself there and then -he'd had his fill of socializing- if not for the passing by of a gaggle of teenage girls. They clutched a magazine between them on which his face was prominently displayed. Inside he groaned, though his outward reaction extended no further than the quick glance he'd given them before returning his attentions to Verriden and Elene. He had no fear of being recognized by those three when he was casually dressed. Past experiences had proven that simple dress and some measure of eyewear - be they glasses or shades - was enough to smother whatever fame his idol group had amassed. Out of the corner of his eye (and behind the back of Elene) Takeshi witnessed a ruddy faced little boy spring a rubber snake on the teenagers from above. The clever little scamp had the thing rigged on a line so it appeared to chase them. They, of course, shrieked before turning tail to run, abandoning the magazine in their hurry.

Takeshi kept quiet about the boys presence even as the little trickster reeled in his toy and inchwormed his way across a tree branch to ready the same trick on Elene. Takeshi let him lower the thing before beginning a nonsensical line of conversation. " Are you two hungry? I'm hungry. I can't think of a single thing that I like better than flayed and slow roasted snake," he teased, covertly watching for the boys reaction. Takeshi was not disappointed. The little scamp faltered, his face scrunching up beneath fuzzy ginger brows, clearly worried. Though Elene was likely oblivious to the meaning behind his nonsense Verriden should have a clean line of sight on the little guy. " Well, besides maybe a roasted side of naughty little boy. They're quite delicious if you cook them long enough." That did it. The boys mouth gaped open in a startled 'o' of a silent gasp, and his grip on the stick his rubber snake was suspended from slackened. He would have dropped it all together if not for the way he scrambled to catch it. Boy and snake both high tailed it, running back the way they'd came, likely to grab at the skirts of his mother. Kids were so impressionable, and predictable.

Takeshi couldn't help it. There was no stopping the torrent of laughter that burst past his lips. It was the sort of mirth that doubled one over, and Takeshi gave into it.. closing his eyes and holding his guts. " D-ahha Did'you s-see, hahha, his f-face? pffftt haha!?" he squinted at Verriden, literal tears gathering in his eyes even as he posed the question.

Varriden nodded. "And I don't mind the company in the least - after all, companionship-aside, the more people I get to know, the more my collection of techniques grows." Elene turned to Yoh to asked about 'seeing' the light, even though they were both Archive mages. Wonder if she thinks he alone saw it, Varriden mused, not used to be passed over like that. But he did broach the subject, I suppose. Only natural that she'd consult him on it first. Once he explains it, she'll get that we both perceive it. Though I wonder if his own observation of magic is different from my own on that base level, he thought. Yoh explained it, their ability to 'see' magic like no other could, by mentioning first that he indeed had no copied abilities to showcase at this time, but seemed to think that combat was required for magical abilities to be seen. Certainly where they were witnessed most often, but he was probably not thinking it all the way through. Or at least from Varriden's point of view. "Oh, no surprise, but you seem to think that combat is required for learning new techniques," Varriden said, shrugging one shoulder, feeling back to normal now that the effects of that light spell of Elene's had worn off, "But it's really not. I've got about a half dozen or so spells on my own list, and I only had to fight once to acquire some, and that was only because one of the mages had a magic that required him to get angry in order to use any magic whatsoever. Thankfully we was already half-drunk when I encountered him, so getting him to spar wasn't terribly difficult, though it did take some effort."

As for the part about seeing Magic, Varriden felt the need to add, "It seems that Yoh can 'see' magic as energy of varying colors and shapes within the magic itself with his analyze ability, if I'm understanding this correctly. Quite interesting. It would explain the glasses, as I don't recall seeing those on his face before your magic went off, if memory serves." He paused as noticed the boy overhead with a fake snake on a string - couldn't be real, the way it was moving. Thankfully, with some carefully phrased wording, Yoh spooked the boy away, sparing Elene a scare. However, as he returned his gaze to the earth, Varriden spotted something else - an actual snake in the grass, heading towards them from Varriden's left, so behind Elene and a bit to the side. It wasn't close enough yet to tell if it had the markings to tell if it was poisonous or not, but Varriden wasn't going to let it get that far. He couldn't harm the snake - it hadn't really done anything yet - but he could scare it off with a bit of confusing magic. Slowly, Varriden activated his Immolation Aura tech, his body temperature rising swiftly - not enough to ignite the grass or even burn to the touch, but enough that the snake, who could detect things a number of ways, including by the body heat of their targets, swiftly turned and slithered away, scared at this confusing prey who could alter his body heat at will.

After a moment, Varriden let the tech fade, his body temperature returning to normal as the magic came to an end. Thankfully, Yoh's actions and the stunt with the fake snake had diverted their attention from the actual snake, Varriden letting out a slight chuckle at Yoh's mirth. "Yes, you had him properly spooked. Bet he won't be trying that again any time soon. Hopefully he treat that as a learning experience."

Elene stood there, listening to the two magicians talk about seeing magic. She was quite interested by their explanations and she had also noticed the glasses appearing out of no where and it made sense it was a part of his magic. She was also oblivious to the boy with the snake at first but then she started to get some hints from Yoh that there was something she couldn't see. She decided it was best to play dumb as it was probably just a kid with some prank that Yoh had caught before he could. When he started laughing she smiled. It sounded like he scared the kid off before he could do his prank but he didn't sound like that was why he did it. He sounded like he just enjoyed scaring the kid. She didn't necessarily agree with his reasons behind it, but she figured he meant no actual harm. As to the real snake, she didn't see it at all. Varriden dealt with it quick and silently and Elene was too busy trying not to laugh with Yoh, as laughing is contagious and Elene doesn't like her laugh all that much.

"You know, a little harmless prank is something all kids do. It's part of childhood and I'm sure the two of you pranked people when you were kids."

Elene said this after Varridens comment on the kid learning his lesson. In Elene's mind the kid was harmless, and if he did scare her or prank her, as it seemed she was the only one oblivious to him, the worst that would happen would be an accidental Fairy Flash and that very well could have taught the kid a lesson. Elene was getting rather bored standing around so she went over and leaned against the tree and sighed. She thought to herself, You know, what I would give for a nicely steamed potato. I wonder if Varriden and Yoh like potatoes? She also remembered suddenly what holiday it was. Saint Pat Rick's month. She wasn't wearing green and some people were very adament about the fact that those who don't wear green on this day should be punched. Wonderful, if one of those nuts shows up she will defend herself and lecture the crap out of that guy, or girl. She could change of course, but she was too interested in Varriden and Yoh, as both were nice people and she might make two new friends today. Yoh was cute as well, but he came off as slightly fake, yet she couldn't place why. Varriden on the other hand was handsome but he was too focused on books probably to notice if a girl liked him. Which Elene didn't, not yet at least. She touched the sapphire around her neck absently, a habit she fell into when she thinks. She decided to ask the two men (Or boys, whichever they turned out to be), if they wanted to go out to lunch together or some other such friendly hangout subject.

"You know, all this Magic talk made me hungry. Would you two like to accompany me to lunch somewhere?"

Elene smiled politely at the two, hoping they would accept. She rather missed dining with other people as she has been travelling all around recently. Magnolia was a wonderful city and there were food stands and picnic blankets all around, so they could buy one and some steamed potatoes from the nearby stand, then eat under this tree. That would be very fun, and Elene smiled at the two men, waiting for their responses.

Takeshi's laughter subsided and his brows furrowed a little in arching - had Elene somehow gotten the wrong impression of him? She wasn't a fan and he wasn't working so he supposed it didn't matter. The likelihood that they would even see each other again after this day, this one moment of happenstance, was highly improbable. It wasn't like him to wander off after rainbows or consort with strangers and the meager answers he'd managed to glean from Varriden weren't enough to change his mind about either habit. Even so he had no intention of being rude. They hadn't asked for his intrusion and had been rather forgiving of his clumsy entrance as well as the less than flattering events since. " I could eat," he offered nonchalantly. If Varriden seemed likewise in the mood for food Takeshi would tag along. There were still a few things he had a mind to inquire about in relation to archive magic and he was willing to bet that Elene was the sort to lose track of conversation once food was put in front of her. It would be an ideal situation to ask, though he showed no interest or inclination in responding to Varriden's earlier comments. It wasn't that Takeshi believed archive magic was limited to combat but rather that... he had little care for magic in general. He suspected that would be an admission Varriden would find even less relatable sense in than Takeshi's earlier reveal of being without any archived techniques! something the other man had seemed to find unthinkable.

Takeshi took advantage of his restored senses to stretch while Varriden mulled over the decision, and Takeshi turned his eyes back to Elene after doing so. " I take it you smelled the baked potato stands? They're clustered around the fountain at this time of year. I'm not much for starch but there's a grumpy sort of old guy that runs a similar food cart around that area as well." Takeshi's eyes softened with genuine affection for the cantankerous coot. Whenever Takeshi did venture out to the park he made a habit of stopping by for a snack. Though it was routine by now the two of them had never so much as exchanged names. The old guy didn't pry, and Takeshi appreciated that. Respected that. " We have an understanding, he and I. I always order the lamb skewers -simple, no dawdling- and he doesn't lecture me about 'young people these days'. As long as you two promise not to embarrass our generation I suppose I can let you in on the secret -- the food is worth any hassling he gives you, and he means well underneath the fuss." His stomach was set on stopping by so it seemed inevitable that the two of them would get a dose of the old guys' grump. Few people seemed to invest the time and notice necessary to recognize that what a person put out on the surface was rarely their true self, which is why Takeshi felt inclined to preemptively defend the vendor.

Takeshi ran a hand through his hair, mussing and brushing strands of it out of and away from his eyes. " He seems pretty into this whole.. St. Pat Rick's Day thing so I'm sure you can grab a potato there if you're set on eating nutritionless sugars," he teased, pretending to chastise and judge their assumed dietary habits. Though Takeshi himself was very health conscious it didn't put him out to watch someone else indulge in what he considered to be 'junk food'. "His cart is an old tinkers wagon - with peeling paint and all covered in ivy - you'll know it when you see it, it's this way. Just over the little walking bridge," he explained even as he started out that way. The path that would take them over the covered stream and into the main circle of the park happened to be the same the teenage girls had fled down and Takeshi stooped to pick up the magazine they'd discarded. Yoh-Shino's smiling visage dominated the cover along with a cheesy salute. He took a moment to mull it over.. the differences between himself and the man he pretended to be.. but shoved those thoughts into the trash along with the magazine before Elene and Varriden could get close. Whatever conclusion he'd come to wasn't worth sharing.

Varriden chuckled along with Yoh, and he noticed that Elene wasn't laughing, but rather trying to keep it in. She pointed out that it was just a kid pulling a prank, and that she was sure the two of them had done similar stunts as children. Varriden shook his heads. "Not me, actually. Too busy keeping my nose in the books at the academy. Most of the pranks involved magic, anyway. Alot of them involving setting fire to something, so I opted to skip out on that particular phase of academy life. Though I'm not surprised to see a child pulling pranks, or trying to - I feel like everyone, while growing up, has the right to do something stupid at least once for the sake of experience and perspective later in life."

Elene suggested lunch and Varriden nodded. "Certainly. Wouldn't mind a bite, myself." Varriden stowed the book away for safe keeping and brushed the stray bits of grass off his person. Yoh offered to take them to a place to get baked potatoes - didn't sound too bad about now - on the condition that they didn't 'embarrass our generation', which Varriden rolled his eyes at. "Such a narrow way of thinking. But if it will get us some lunch with the hassle as a side-dish, then I'll keep to myself." Yoh lightly teased them about sugars as they walked, then mentioned that the old man kept his stuff in an old cart. "He keeps his food in a place with paint flakes peeling off the walls? That....explains a great deal." Varriden said dryly. "Makes me a bit skeptical on the potato, though." They passed a trio of girls on the way there, but Takeshi stopped - for a moment, Varriden thought he was going to say something to the girls they had just passed, but instead he tossed something into the bin nearby, and Varriden caught the fluttering of pages - a magazine? - into the can, though because of the angle and the throw, he didn't see what was on the cover, and wasn't going to dig through the trash to find out. Besides, he was about to go eat - no need to dirty his hands right before a meal.

As they crossed into the park and into the throngs of stands around the main fountain, they approached the potato stand. Varriden let Yoh handle the diplomatic side of things as he got his potato and began eating - somewhat bland, but at least it didn't have paint flakes on it, and it was filling. It would do.

Elene listened to the two men talk. She sensed they were getting along, but Yoh was holding back. She assumed he didn't like getting close to people, where as Varriden seemed rather open. They seemed like opposites almost if you look close enough. Varriden in his gold, Yoh in his gray. This could just be her imagining things of course, though she did tend to exagerate scenarios. As they walked she noticed the girls and it made her frown. Giggling girls who only cared for hot guys and celebrities irked her. She preferred to be closer to nature than to those her own age. She saw the object go from Yoh's hand into the trash and she glanced at it as she passed and saw his face on the cover but the glance was too quick to make out any words. So he must be famous, which explained why he seemed to be avoiding the girls. She decided not to ask about it, mainly because he looked a little different from the magazine, so he must be trying to fit in with normal people today. Varriden was very curious she thought, as he seemed to have grown up in the Academy and that was his past. While it wasn't a bad thing she was slightly worried he had missed out on a lot of his childhood that way. Though he seemed happy so she wouldn't inquire about it. The old man's cart sounded nice, granted Varriden seemed to think it caused Yoh's attitude, due to the flaking paint. She walked lightly alongside them, her feet soundless on the ground. She decided to ask the two of them something about magic, since all she knew was a little about her own.

"So, you can both see magic in different ways, then store it and use it later right? Well, I know Varriden has probably studied this, but I'm curious as to your opinions on what magic is, as you must have seen many more spells than I have."

She had little experience with magic outside her own, and yet they could analyze hers and tell her things about her magic she didn't even know. Archive seemed to be wonderfully useful, so she decided to ask them as many questions as she could in case she never met an Archive Mage ever again. She liked these two, and although Yoh seemed like he lived here in Magnolia, Varriden sounded like a traveler. Maybe the two of them could travel together for a time, and have a few adventures. Or maybe not, as it was mostly up to him. She couldn't wait for the potato but she remained calm and waited until they reached the stand.

Takeshi paused to consider Elene's words, folding his arms on the rail of the bridge that separated them from the main square in doing so. "Magic.. simply is," Takeshi explain, "We as humans are too insignificant in the universe to comprehend life or even time and have instead created principles and theories through which to claim mastery in understanding. Simply because we say it is so, that 'it is known', however, does not make it true or wise to claim such. Magic is the same and, I suspect, is likely tied to both." Perhaps it was unkind of him to answer her questions with philosophy in place of answers but for all the ways his convoluted response could be taken for patronizing, teasing, Takeshi was simply impassioned. Exchanging ideas and wondering over the how and why was a favored pastime of his. "For all the intellect of a man men are not gods but creatures alike to any other. We are created things. What right do we have to declare one thing more wondrous than any other?" Takeshi's boot dragged across the worn and weary planks of the bridge and nudged a pebble on it into the water. The little rock skid across the surface of the stream but died down, sunk, before it could reach the mouth of it where it opens into the lake. The ripples made spurred him. "You've a natural right to be curious and as a mage it is no wonder that you would glorify this aspect of you - magic - but is it really so special? Is it more remarkable that we, with all our vast adaptations lent toward reasoning and science, should be able to produce light with a word or fire at a touch than it is a wonder when a plant not half so complex as our own making should seed, and bud, and grow to produce not only the food we eat but the air we breathe?"

Takeshi couldn't spare either of his temporary companions a glance. His words were as much for himself as them. In hearing such thoughts spoken aloud Takeshi was pulled back into the circular mechanics of musing. It was frustrating! Unsatisfying in that questions only bred more questions but enjoyable, too, in taking the time to investigate each little wonder of the world. "I've dabbled in a bit of this and that in literature and learning but I do not presume to truly understand.. anything." Takeshi rarely felt the need to exagerate his own importance or knowledge but that last word was punctuated with such unabashed honesty that there simply was no room left for ego. He was naive. Period. It was a fact of life that showed more maturity and wisdom through self-awareness than the words themselves implied. "I've read books beyond counting but all a book can teach is a second hand experience, someone elses' questions. My own experiences -25 years worth- amount to such an insignificant portion of the world discovered that I don't think I'll ever be able to answer you're question the way you would want me to."

A fancy finned carp crested the water then, arcing midair where the light caught and shimmered over its myriad scales. "Magic, just... is," he reiterated with an honest smile. He was different in that moment. Warm, like sunlight. Takeshi could have contentedly stayed like that for hours. The sun would set eventually and it was a sight worth seeing out across the water. He liked that, watching the sun's last vulnerable glimmers sinking into the lake, but Takeshi straightened up. The two of them had unknowingly and inexplicably brightened his mood no small amount and for that he owed them lunch at the very least. Whether they would part company after was uncertain and Takeshi discovered he didn't really mind the thought of sticking around a while. They were better company than most. Once they'd crossed the bridge the trees gave way readily enough to a clearing dominated by a naturally occurring pond in which a fountain had been fixed. It was through the impressively sized stone statue of a carp that water jetted in an arc from the fishes mouth. Children were clustered around the edges of the water there wearing green things of all kinds, each with little gold-painted medallions of tin. It took Takeshi several moments to realize just what they were doing...

Someone had set out a miniature pewter pot at the base of the carp as part of the St Pat Rick's day festivities. The thing was near to bursting with a handsome sum of the same gold coins the children white knuckled before skipping and Takeshi made out that they were all hoping to add theirs to the collection. Was it some sort of good luck ritual?
There was music playing though it had little to do with the festivities of the day. Takeshi recognized the whimsical notes of an erhu and his eyes were quick to identify its source. A street performer he hadn't seen before was nestled beneath the shade of a tree he'd passed without notice and it was from her hands that the music came. It had a foreign twang to it that drew others toward the woman. To them, her instrument was likely alien and all the more interesting for the mystery of it. Though Takeshi did not share in their naivety none of the magic of her performance was lost for it. She played so sweetly.. it was both relaxing and invigorating. Pleasant beyond the description of words. A little boy with the same dark hair and almond eyes that she possessed pranced beside her, adding the sound of his percussion instrument to her music.

Takeshi would have liked to join the crowd that gathered round her but the food cart he'd spoken of was on the far side of the pond and with no small amount of reluctance he led the way. The familiar pealing paint remained though the ivy that grew o'er the whole thing seemed to be one day nearer to swallowing the cart whole. Takeshi smiled as they approached but the words -playful teasing- he'd meant to fire off at the old man he'd spoken of died on his lips, replaced by furrowed brows and confusion as the warm countenance of a busty young woman in a green wenches blouse and apron greeted them from the service window. Takeshi was ready to believe in the universally unrealistic possibility that there were too exactly identically disheveled food carts existing in the same reality, or that the old man had died, but his befuddlement was quickly dispelled upon catching sight of the lecherous bastard tucked a ways behind the pretty woman. He was all eyes on his young employees backside and after catching Takeshi's perfectly mastered look of disgust, disappointment, and reluctant acknowledgment that his opinion of the old guy couldn't possibly sink any lower, the blue haired bishounen was comped a free baked potato... though it came with a barely hushed insistence that he 'keep his damn fool nose out'a business that aint got nothin to do with him'.

"For you, princess --!," he delivered complete with an exaggerated bow upon presenting it to Elene. "A veritable jewel of starchy goodness that will undoubtedly go straight to your thighs." He hoped she could handle a bit of ribbing! but tossed her a wink to ensure it was obvious he was kidding just in case.
