Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Still stranded in Oshibana, Diane had at least managed to scrounge up a little money to afford to make it to the bathhouse and eat. She was putting a little bit aside so that she could afford some new clothes, and a ticket to go somewhere else, and for somewhere to stay once she'd made it there.... So much to do, and so little ability to actually do it. She had Erja and Plamen to help her, but really, that was it. And there wasn't really a whole lot she could do about it. She was still recovering her energy to some level that would be vaguely appropriate for traveling. And hopefully at some point she'd be able to stand up without shaking. Hopefully that point would be sooner rather than later.

She gave the small amount of money she had left today to the woman at the counter and made her way into the bathhouse. She'd been choosing food the last couple of days, but she couldn't really stand the feeling of the dirt on her body anymore. Her stomach growled a bit, but she ignored it for the moment. She'd find an odd job that she could use to get some money either later or tomorrow. She'd gone more time without eating in the cult's clutches. She gave a fake smile to the woman behind the counter and walked into the side room, removing her dirty clothes and enjoying the feel of the clean towel on her as she walked out into the bath. No one else seemed to be there for the moment, so she'd get to enjoy some privacy for the moment.

She gave a contented sigh as she slid into the tub, setting the towel down on the side. She had no desire to go anywhere just yet, so she set the soap down as well until she was done relaxing. She looked forward to the point that she didn't have to choose between bathing daily or eating daily. Not three meals a day, just eating. At all. She sighed again and sunk into the water, blowing bubbles with it. She had spent the first day, once again, trying to scrub the tattoos off to no avail. All she'd ended up with was feeling very raw, and Erja mocking her afterward.

Oshibana.. little more than a hub of travel, best known for it's train station that could take you almost anywhere, even to places that many stations didn't go. Sierra had been here as a child, with the troupe, but couldn't recall having actually had business this way since she had left home to try and learn more about the world and how her magic worked. It had been a few years, and she was only starting to really figure it out. While inborn, innate magic, learned magic, and magic from objects were all common enough, it was virtually impossible to find information on conditions like her own. It didn't help that as far as anyone else could see, magically speaking at least, was just another two-penny fire mage.

Then again, she wasn't here today for magic, was she? No, she was here on merchantry work, one of her father's old clients had asked for her specifically for some kind of function, and so she had packed as much of her work with her as she could easily carry and caught a train in. While she was hardly overwhelmingly wealthy and many frivolous luxuries were impractical with her income - supplemented by her work as a magus of Blue Pegasus, as it was - the fact of the matter was, train stations had a tendency to be dirty places by midday, even with janitorial staff.

"Not like I have anything better to do until tonight, anyway~" she mused lethargically as she consulted a map of the town and surrounding region. Like most of her maps, it had various had-written notes scribbled on it, noting places of personal interest and useful facilities for travelling. First, she would have to rent a locker for the day... and then find somewhere to clean up, and maybe get something light to eat as well before her appointments that evening. Well, there no harm in starting early.

It didn't take long to find a temporary storage facility - there was one on Oshibana's main street, conveniently enough - but her other destinations were a touch off the beaten path. Had she still been the same way she had been as a child, this might have bothered her. While not explicitly dangerous, Oshibana wasn't exactly the most upstanding of towns, and wandering down side alleys and little lanes carried some degree of risk. Still, there weren't many street urchins or thugs that could keep up with her if she decided to simply avoid them, so it was usually safe enough. Besides, she had found that there was something about a steady, confident stride that discouraged cowards and bullies from giving you trouble. Maybe it was because it was a trait that lot of quite powerful people shared. Even if she wasn't one of them, it didn't hurt to keep up appearances.

Before she knew it, she had found her second destination: A local segregrated bathhouse, reasonably inexpensive but with enough pride in their services that it was well cared for. Of course, she WAS a merchant by trade, so it went without saying that there was a little playful haggling. With bemused reluctance from the clerk overlooking the facility, she finally managed to gain access with enough money saved for a small croissant, and took what she could get with a cheerful smile.

Perhaps it was the hour, but the bathhouse was nearly empty - practically abandoned - and she was meet with only the sound of running water to break the silence as she changed and made her way inside. Distantly, she could hear the sounds of two men - older, by the tenor of their voices - speaking past the divisory boundary, but otherwise she was alone. Ah, no, there was one other person here: She'd almost missed them because of how unobtrusively they were enjoying the water, nearly submerged in it as they were.

"Pardon the intrusion," she supplied with a cheeky little grin as she slipped into the water herself, giving the other woman - no, barely more than a girl, by the looks of it... and unhealthily skinny, at that - a fair range of space for privacy. Not that she was bothered by such things herself, but... some people were picky about that.

Diane still wasn't sure what she wanted to do with herself. She still didn't think she was safe in this city, but it wasn't like it was easy for her to get anywhere else. She didn't have enough money for a train ticket, at least not without giving up eating and bathing for a day or two. If the cult had realized that she wasn't in the area, they'd probably end up going to the closest cities and beginning to hunt for her there. This was the first city she'd come across on her escape... granted, it might not've been the closest city. Knowing her luck there was a city right next to their base, and she'd just gone the wrong way. Still, better to be somewhere further away so that it was harder for them to find her, right? She shivered a bit as she thought about them again.

And would going to another city really make things any better for her? She would just be in a different city, with the same smelly, dirty rags she'd been wearing for the last month (they'd at least been nice enough to give her a change of clothes every now and again. Even if it was just more of the same thing). She thought about something that... other person... had said. A guild would probably be the best place for her to go. Did she really have too many other options? She didn't have any experience doing anything that wasn't in a theater, and all of those things brought her too much pain to even think about right now. And it wasn't like there were all that many employers clamoring to hire a homeless teenager in running clothes.

If everyone was going to try and use her for her powers, she could at least try an use them for herself, right? Despite having spent every bath trying to scrub away the marks, and failing. She didn't really have any other choice at this point. Maybe some day she'd have one... but not now. The thought of getting another tattoo sent a chill down her spine, but she would have to endure it. Just like she'd endured those seemingly endless sessions before. What was she going to do if they didn't take her, though? It wasn't like Plamen or Erja were very powerful, and who was to say any of the other tattoos were any better? And even if they were stronger, she couldn't control the two of them, never mind anything more powerful....

Having been so absorbed in her own thoughts, Diane had failed to notice the new person enter the bath. When she spoke, she was snapped out and she jumped in surprise, her heart beating out of her chest. Every person who talked to her, every noise in the night, every shadow around the corner had been completely absorbed into her paranoia. And someone surprising her? Yeah, that was right up there with the rest of them, too. She reached up to stroke her hair, a nervous habit she'd had since she was a child, and flinched again when she realized it wasn't there anymore. She'd done that a lot since they had chopped it off, but she still couldn't get used to it. Her green eyes followed the girl as she walked over to a different part of the bath, as she bit her tongue. "It's... it's okay," she said, trying to make herself sound calmer than she did.

She swallowed a bit and let out a few deep breaths to try and get a hold of herself. She needed to get better around people. She knew that not everyone was with the cult, despite what her mind kept trying to tell her, but she wasn't quite there yet. In her mind, everyone was concealing a weapon or a net or something, and was going to drag her back to that place with them. But that was impossible for this girl... maybe... maybe she could try to hold a conversation. Try to feel a little more normal, and at least get a bit better about her lies. She gave her a faint smile from across the bath. "Um... how are you?" she asked, trying to mask the fact that her heart was still trying to smash its way out of her rib cage.

It was a rare and precious thing, moments of quiet from the hustle and bustle of the world. Sierra soaked it in, savouring it the same way she did the calm warmth of the water. It had been over a month since she'd been able to simply enjoy it; travelling itself took too much energy to enjoy the fleeting details for long, and her trade had kept her busy. Sometimes, if only for a moment, she almost forgot that she was a mage. She could never truly forget, though. The furnace-like warmth inside would never let her.

"Is that so? Glad to hear it, then," Sierra replied, offering a cheeky grin and a wink as she started to wash her hair, reminded - as if by a cue - of the reason she was there as the other girl reached for her own shortened locks. Once, when she'd been younger, she had adored the chance to simply have a long bath and enjoy it. Ever since the day at the ruins, however, it had made her slightly uncomfortable. Though it was harmless, and she knew it, she couldn't help but feel somehow like the water itself was trying to snuff her out. Company helped, as far as distracting herself from the sensation, but it was still there, faint and uncertain.

She paused for a moment as the other girl made a query that most would have responded to with nigh-dismissive indifference... or else a frenetic energy to take up the opportunity to express themselves. Something about it seemed... off, different somehow, and she couldn't help but wonder why she felt that way. "Don't suppose you're asking because you want to know, are you? Well, even if it was just to fill the silence, I guess it's rude to refuse an answer. I'm swell. Water's nice, weather's decent, some people with more money than sense want to buy my needlework and others ask me questions when they have no choice but to listen to me. Things are looking up."

Somehow, she managed to keep a straight face for a moment more before it slipped, and she couldn't help but giggle a little, a gesture that was not at all like how she was supposed to behave. Well, rubbish on that, it wasn't like this was some kind of business meeting or the like. "My name's Sierra. Sierra Levaste. I work with cloth for a living sometimes, and at other times I do odd jobs that don't really justify asking for our help. Though that riddling mirror was intriguing, who would've thought it was haunted? Ah, right, rambling again. What would your name be, miss?"

The girl seemed very... energetic. One of the things she used to be told that she needed to do better was to read people. She had gotten a little bit of practice when she had spent time handing out fliers for the the playhouse. You had to figure out who would actually look at them, and who would just toss it in the nearest trash can (if they bothered to hang onto it that long). She had never really gotten that good at it, but it was something that she had been practicing more recently. She had spent too much time jumping at every sound and being terrified of every person that had tried to make small talk with her. Not that she'd exactly had a lot of people try, but it also made it a little difficult to get work so that she could actually leave Oshibana.

She'd have to make things happen if anything was going to happen. No one was just going to drop out of the sky and rescue her. Some guild wasn't just going to grab her up and show her everything. She'd given up hope of being rescued by someone else after four months of being left alone to cry in that cell. She might've continued to pretend, to herself, that she had hope... but once she'd stopped hearing the sounds of people in the other cells.... She shook her head a bit and went back to fingering the air, letting out a few deep breaths to try and take her back into reality.

Diane wasn't really sure what exactly sure what she had been expecting when she had asked the girl the question. Perhaps she hadn't been expecting an answer at all, or maybe a simple 'fine' or 'good'. The sudden flood of words caught her a bit offguard, but she tried not to let it show. She might not have been entirely successful, but she managed to recover herself... marginally. "Um... well, I wouldn't have asked if I hadn't want to know." She really had no idea what half of what she was saying meant, exactly. Maybe a bit more than half. She'd understood 'needlework', so she supposed that she was a sewing... person, of some kind? She was starting to wish she'd paid more attention to the people who made costumes, she'd really only been allowed to help with patching and stuff like that. After stabbing her hand repeatedly.

With the giggle and statements, she managed to give a smile and try to relax a little bit. There was still that nervous part in the back of her mind, but she was trying very hard not to let it come out. "Um... Nice to meet you Sierra." She managed to understand what she was saying, though. Except maybe the Odd Jobs comment. Riddling Mirror? She was suddenly feeling like she'd accidentally wandered onto the set of a weird play, or someone practicing for a role. "... What?" she managed to sputter, before the question about her own name. "I'm Diane." She flinched a little bit after she said it, it'd just kind of... slipped out. She'd been meaning to use a fake name, but she'd forgotten about it. She'd been using a couple of different names in jobs in the city, although it'd probably be better if they weren't all names of people in plays. A good thing they were all small things she'd done for a couple of hours.

Sierra grinned a little as she caught the other woman sizing her up from the corner of her eye. It wasn't something that ordinary people tended to bother to do unless they had something to hide, but she didn't really mind. If anything, the other girl's attempts at figuring out her intentions said more about the blonde that it did about Sierra herself. Sierra herself couldn't help but be a little curious at what it was that made her momentary companion so jumpy, but in the end it really wasn't any of her business to pry, anyway.

Pausing for a moment to actually listen as the blonde across from her assured her that the interest was genuine, Sierra's grin widened, and a mischievous glint shimmered in her eyes. "Is that so? You're different than almost everyone else I've ever met then, most people treat that sort of question as a formality, little more than small talk. Sorry if I insulted you there, I can assure you that it was unintentional."

With introductions made, it was time to get down to business... to defeat the huns. Or at least, to get serious about cleaning herself up. It was a task that wouldn't have been too hard under normal circumstances, but she had a little more on her mind than she usually did while bathing. The extended moments of silence between Diane's halting statements were more than a little awkward, and so she felt obligated to pay at least some attention to her company.

The problem, of course, would be not paying too much. She could tell from her speech alone that Diane was jumpy, and the last thing she wanted was to scare someone off from relaxing by saying something stupid. Well, more stupid than usual. Derek-level stupid. The poor lad meant well, but... she wa reasonably sure that man's marriage must have been arranged. Then again, her own proficiency in that regard was utterly lacking. Most likely because she had problems in the opposite direction than he did. Errant thoughts flowed as carelessly as water as she went about business as usual.

"Diane, huh? I had an aunt with that name. She was a candlemaker, as I recall..." Sierra's eyes closed for a moment, and the image of a different kind of candle came to mind unbidden, bringing with it an uncharitable warmth. She dismissed the thought with a soft sigh, reminding herself of where she was. "Probably not the sort of thing you'd be interested in, though, huh? Are you a performer of some sort?"

Hiding herself wasn't something that Diane had gotten very good at yet. She was getting slightly better at not jumping at the slightest sound, but hiding what had happened entirely was something she was still working toward. She didn't want to think about the cult anymore, but every time she closed her eyes she was back in that cell. Every slight cut from falling, or grabbing something, was the needle digging into her skin once more. She just wanted it all to go away. She took a deep breath and grabbed the soap, starting to rub her arm with it, almost to soothe herself. Bathing had had a very relaxing effect on her... possibly because it was the first thing she'd done after she'd escaped. Stopped in a river and scrubbed her body for hours, trying to get them to go away. They hadn't, of course, but it managed to calm her nonetheless.

"Um... well, just because it's small talk, doesn't mean I don't want to know," she replied, swallowing a bit. She hadn't really done a lot of public bathing before all this, so talking with a complete stranger while they were both mostly or completely disrobed was a bit... different, for her. But, she supposed she wasn't really ever completely naked, anymore. If you counted the fact that just about 80% of her body was covered in ink, and it wasn't like that was something she was going to forget anytime soon. She really needed to get into the hang of talking again. She hadn't really spoken much in the last couple of months.

When the other girl started to wash herself, Diane looked in another direction entirely, feeling a little more awkward about that. It was strange that she had departed from how she had been, at least in some ways, in the short time she'd been away. Before, she'd been described as 'flirty' when she chatted with just about anyone. She couldn't quite bring herself around back to that at this point. She was dirty, her hair looked awful, and there were a lot of other things that she'd started criticizing herself about in the mirror. If she couldn't look good to herself, why would anyone else think so. "You're... in a guild?" she found herself asking. She'd thought she'd seen something resembling a guild tattoo, but maybe she'd just been projecting.

That other many had said he'd been in a guild too, and she hadn't really had a lot of time to chat in him, seeing as she'd more or less fallen into a coma. She'd woken up somewhere strange, gotten scared, and fled the building. She almost wished she'd stayed now, but she wasn't sure she could find the place again, even if she wanted to. Not that he would still be there. He'd probably dumped her off, gotten on a train, and forgotten all about her again. She was surprised that she'd been called out on being a performer. How had she known that? She... she supposed some people were good at reading people. She swallowed the other thoughts that crept up with that. Not everyone was going to be a member of the cult... but what if she was?

She shivered a bit in the warm water, trying to suppress the urge. "The play's the thing Wherein I'll catch the conscience of the king." The quote left a strange taste in her mouth, really, but she managed to give a small smile as she quoted it. She'd learned a number of the speeches from different plays, having watched most of the plays the house had ever put on, as well as most of the rehearsals, and she'd run lines with some of the actors from time to time. "But not for a while. I've had... other interests, lately."
