As the two traveled through the narrow and cramped ventilation shaft Artorius couldn't help but feel a few pangs of deja vu. Though, this time he was at the front instead of getting the misfortune, or should I say fortune of staring at Artesia's lovely humps as they crawled through. Artorius had it just about up to here with places like the vents and wardrobe that they were in earlier. Though, the last one was a bit more distressing for other reasons. Vents are just annoying and tedious to climb through, not to mention uncomfortably cold. But, the wardrobe that the two had stuffed themselves in was uncomfortable for well... let's just say for other reasons, and that he was glad his armor down there was padded adequately enough. Nevertheless, Artorius quickly halted his progress through the narrow vent after turning a corner and navigating forward for several paces as they stumbled upon a conversation of sorts. "Let me in damn it!" A familiar young male voice spoke in protest as the young man was held back by what appeared to be a butler. "But you musn't young master!" The butler protested just before he broke free and bolted through a door. Curiously, Artorius moved forward and they would find that the upcoming bend in the shaft would naturally lead them into the room which the man who they would soon realize was Louis Malcal had stormed into. In his head right now Artorius was cursing the fact that he didn't actually know that this estate was the Malcal's. They must have recently purchased it from the last owners while Artorius was still in the Lancarri. That aside, the pair of sneaky thieves would be able to hear the tail end of the conversation as they listened in and watched from the grates. Fortunately, this time Rachel's familiar or something like that wouldn't give them away this time. "We told you not to come in here, boy!" An older gruff voice spoke angrily which was proceeded by a loud audible smack which was painfully obvious that Louis Malcal had just been struck across the face. "Are you still not able to control your son, Relius? See to it that he does not interrupt our affairs further." "Yes, father. Get up off your feet, Louis. You should show your grandfather more respect. After all, he is the man ruling this city from the shadows, the man this city will soon call King," Relius spoke with as he shoveled Louis away from the meeting room. "You've changed father. Ever since Grandfather returned you haven't been the same..." Louis cried out in grief as he slammed the door behind him shut. It seemed that even a smug brat like Louis had a tender and vulnerable side. Though, this posed a new interesting option. Based on everything that they had just witnessed, Artorius figured that Louis might actually be a useful informant. Right now, there was a lot of information that they didn't have on this Gray King, a man who actually seemed to be Louis' grandfather and Relius' father. Interesting. Nonetheless, Artorius crept further down the ventilation shaft until they came along to a rather interesting scene which made him suddenly pause. "Oh, I wonder if Lucas would like me in this!" A girlish voice spoke, one of which Artorius quickly recognized as Leila Malcal. Oh man. Oh man indeed, as upon closer inspection through the grate Artorius couldn't help but notice the girl was modeling out some rather interesting underwear and clothing. |

Barely able to bring herself to a complete stop in the vent before she ran right up behind the man in front of her Artesia would have said something regarding what the hell he'd done it for but given that they were sneaking around inside a vent which would echo any sound made she refrained. Well, that and because she could hear the conversation that had made him stop and knew the answer before she could have voiced the question. A familiar voice was arguing with one she didn't recognise, the voice belonged to Louis Malcal and as he battled it out in a fight of words against a butler Artesia couldn't help but wonder just what had gotten him so heated. From where they were located in relation to the scene unfolding the pair witnessed the young man break free from the butler and force his way through the large wooden doors which lead to a large chamber/hall of some kind but that was as far as they could see. Luckily though the sound of the voices inside the hall echoed out into the hallway and up into the ventilation shaft meaning they could hear it all much like they were there with the figures inside. What transpired inside the hall was interesting to say the least, so Louis Malcal and his grandfather didn't exactly get along? What was even more interesting though was the fact that they learned the true identity of the man who was after them; The Gray King was Louis Malcal's grandfather and Relius Malcal's father. Well, what a small world it turned out to be after all. Louis's parting words to his father were ones which instantly lead Artesia and likely Artorius to thinking, perhaps they could get the man to help them in bringing down his grandfather. Of course that didn't mean helping them kill him, but if they could get rid of him and free his father from the dastardly influence of The Gray King. With that said though they were going to have to find the man again in order to speak to him, which was where they set off to as they once again moved through the ventilation shaft. It didn't take long though for Artorius to once again come to a complete and utter stop without warning, this time however it was for something far different and unrelated to their current task at hand. As yet another familiar voice was heard coming from the grate they were at Artesia's eyebrows furrowed and her head turned to glance in its direction slowly, ugh... that woman again. Leila was modelling out various kinds of provocative lingerie and as she did so she mentioned Artorius's alter persona Lucas, yeah... it was awkward and sad to say the least. The longer that Artorius stood there watching the woman the more and more frustrated Artesia became with it all, how dare he not be bothered by the scene back in the wardrobe and yet be so enthralled by the one before him! Finally fed up with it all and unable to say a word to spur him into moving Artesia settled for the second best option; she'd MAKE him get moving. Pinching him on the ass and being sure to actually do so in a way that he'd feel it through his pants Artesia held nothing back, oh it would sting that was for sure. |

Artorius couldn't help but stop to watch momentarily. Now, Artorius wasn't necessarily the biggest of perverts and it wasn't like he was necessarily a voyeur but it was kind of hard to avert his attention, especially when Leila's attention was on a persona of his. It was half-amusing, half-exciting, and half-hilarious, provided that it is at all possible to have three halves to anything. Nevertheless as Artesia pinched his behind in such a way that it would hurt even through his thick pants Artorius stifled a pained groan and wince and decidedly chose to distract himself by quietly creeping through the ventilation shaft further until they were well past Leila's bedroom. The man understood that Artesia pinched him because Artorius was sort of absentmindedly perving out. However, he didn't know the full extent of the fact that it was awkward because the women felt a little insecure and frustrated due to the fact that he had sort of dismissed her after the whole wardrobe thing. However, at the same time Artesia wasn't fully aware of the fact that the man had to vehemently control himself when it came to her in situations like those, and that it was much easier to just idly observe from a distance than it was to stop himself from throwing Artesia down wherever he wanted her and having his way with her. There was a time and place for that, and it certainly is not in the halls of your current greatest enemy, no matter how exciting it actually is. Moving forward throughout the vent, the two finally came to an exit which brought them to a trophy room with various glass displays and cabinets. This was a dream come true for either of the two thieves even though this wasn't necessarily their task here. Still, they couldn't exactly let this all slip by now could they? All the displays were locked but really, who do you think these two are? With a careful and effortless pick and rake of the locks Artorius managed to open a few of the displays and pulled a few fancy necklaces and rings which he neatly stored into his pocket before he made his way towards the door. However, by the time he was done Artesia was likely still occupied with filling her pockets and getting jewel signs out of her eyeballs. Gesturing Artesia towards him in a hurried fashion, Artorius unlocked the door from the inside and crept out, closing the door behind them. As they crept forward into cover they could hear the sound of angry thumping footsteps and then a slammed door -- it was Louis. With an exchange of glances Artorius non-verbally communicated that they should confront Louis as he seemed like he might prove useful in this here operation. Tip-toeing towards the door, Artorius peeked through the keyhole to check if he was there before he picked and raked the lock with his tool set before opening it with a smirk. Once inside, he gestured for Artesia the close the door behind her as he crept silently towards the young man who was looking out the window. But, before he could reach out to grab his shoulder Louis stopped them. "I know you're there," Louis spoke while wiping his face. "And I know who you are. Lucas Laurent, if that's really you're real name. You're a thief, professional. I don't know about the woman as much as you, but I did some research on you two. I don't think it was a coincidence that you two appeared at that Masquerade Ball on the night of the explosion at the construction site across the street, nor the mage battle not far from there. I know why you're here -- you're after my grandfather, Lucius Malcal, the Gray King he calls himself... I can help you." Edited by Mazohyst, Jan 12 2014, 04:13 AM.

You might be wondering how and where Artesia managed to store all of the things she was grabbing from the locked cases in the Vermillion Estate and that is an understandable line of thought given her tight clothing which left little room for such things, what you should be aware of however is that she had more than a few secret pockets and cleavage to boot. Necklaces, earrings and other things that could easily be slipped into small places were that which Artesia focused on as she looted the cabinets she unlocked and just as she was reaching for a particularly large and crimson gem Artorius beckoned her to hurry up and join him. Snatching it out of the cabinet and closing it behind them she shuffled quietly to catch up to the man while silently cursing how they weren't able to take even more, why couldn't they have been there to steal things and nothing else #sad face. The sound of a door slamming closed and loud thudding footsteps was all the two thieves needed to find their way towards where Louis would be and as they did Artesia kept a lookout while Artorius picked the lock on said door. Together the pair crept into the room silently and with the aim of reaching Louis before he knew they were there, unfortunately though it seemed he had a trick up his sleeve and some prior knowledge that they hadn't been expecting. He'd been expecting them? Well that much wasn't too surprising given the circumstances leading up to the day in question, the fact he seemed to know who and what they had been after from the day of the ball though was something, something not quite concerning but surprising. It made sense that Louis knew little about Artesia compared to Artorius given that she hadn't been in Fiore anywhere near as long as the man but one the other hand if he dove into Sin's information networks he'd likely have learned of her too, she wasn't exactly unknown around there even after all. As Louis went on though and as he turned to face the pair he said that he could help them, "Oh and how pry tell do you intend to do that?" Artesia asked with a raised eyebrow. "You need a way to beat him, trust me when I say you can't without my help." There was no way to read Louis's face to have anything other than an expression of honesty and all seriousness and so Artesia found herself biting, "Go on~" "Use this." He said as he tossed a bottle of poison towards Artorius for him to catch. "As to how you get him to ingest it, that's not my problem." Oh great, so it was the kind of poison that had to be ingested. Well, that made things slightly more difficult. "When you're done with it take the body to the cellar I will handle the rest. Await contact. " Edited by Lightning, Jan 12 2014, 04:47 AM.

Based on the scent and appearance of the poison it wasn't something that was actually fatal but it appeared strong enough to knock him out. Still, it would be useful to their endeavors but a means to make them ingest it seemed like something that they still had yet to acquire. Nevertheless, Artorius did spend a moment to curiously wonder how and why exactly Louis would help them. However, it was something that he soon quickly summarized as Louis wanting to return his family life to how it used to be before his grandfather Lucius Malcal returned. Besides that, it was understandable that he didn't necessarily want to play a role in his grandfather's death, but instead intended on relocating him elsewhere or something along those lines. Nevertheless, Artorius was eager to accept the help so long as Louis played his role just as the two thieves played theirs. "If you make this work you'll have my gratitude and I'll be in your debt," Louis added to sweeten the deal, and it definitely served as a fair motivation. To have the heir to the Malcal dynasty, a rich and powerful dynasty of businessmen and various trade organizations owe them a debt was pretty significant in terms of financial and monetary value. Artorius replied with only a quick nod before he took the chemical agent and slipped it into one of his many pockets before the two left the way they came. Now, they would need to find a way to force Lucius Malcal, the Gray King, to ingest this solution. The best way was probably to slip it into the food. Though, if they put it in all of the food everyone would get a bit of it and it might prove diluted. Still, that method posed the least risk, as even if everyone ingested the stuff it wasn't fatal, merely knocking everyone who ingested out, especially at a lower concentration due to the diffusion of it in the food. Leading the way towards the lower quarters down a flight of stairs, Artorius navigated by criss-crossing through the shadows and pillars and statues of the manor, staying to the darkness to avoid being detected. It actually been quite a bit of time since he had infiltrated and snuck through a place like this, but even so Artorius was showing his skills and moves off quite splendidly. Now in the kitchen, Artorius noticed the chef hard at work putting in the final adjustments to the soup that he was cooking. Unfortunately he wasn't going to leave any time soon, so Artorius crept up to the man and delivered a blow to the back of his head using the pommel of his dagger, knocking him out cold before dragging him towards the pantry closet, but not before passing Artesia the vial to spill and mix its contents into the food. From there the two had to play the waiting game, which Artorius initiated by ringing a bell to alert a butler that the food was now prepared, where the butler would then prepare and bring onto a tray to take towards the Malcals. Now they just had to follow him and approach at the right time. |

Much like a pair of agile ninja's the pair of thieves made their way through the estate in search of the kitchen and as they did so it became obvious as to just how empty the place was in terms of people. Artesia would have thought that there would have been more staff than you could poke a stick at in a place such as this estate and yet as they made they made way around the place using cover to remain hidden they had only the need to actually hide a handful of times. Where exactly was everyone? Was the help here on holidays or something, or did they just not feel like being out and about at the given time of night? Either way, it had Artesia feeling slightly on edge, as if she was waiting for them all to leap out and call 'surprise!'. Eventually both Artorius and Artesia made it to the kitchen that they sought and without being seen or noticed by even a single individual at that, "Ugh, Smells so good." Artesia whispered so quietly that there was no chance anyone but the man she was ever so close to would have been able to hear her. Inside the kitchen a chef stood at the stove top like the vigilant man he was, continuously stirring the stew/soup that was nearing completion he hummed a tune along to himself. While the tune was a terrible one with absolutely no tempo at least the sound served to make sneaking up on the man that much easier, which of course was exactly what the thieves did. Artorius knocked the chef out with the pummel of his dagger and while he dragged the man's unconscious body towards the pantry for safe storage -get it, get it?- Artesia was tossed the small bottle of sedative. As she opened the bottle and held it over the soup the woman paused momentarily, it was such a shame to add anything to something that smelt as good as the meaty soup in front of her did, it was such a damned shame that she couldn't eat it too. Fighting her impulses though and her stomach's pleas though Artesia poured the sedative into the soup and in order to ensure that it wasn't noticed she stirred it through, luckily though it was a clear liquid so there was little chance of it being seen anyway, the taste though? Well she just had to hope that Louis was smart enough to have taken that into consideration. Hiding themselves out of sight Artesia and Artorius rang the bell which was the signal for the butler to come and retrieve he finished meal and as they watched on they had to hope he didn't taste it himself before finishing his duties, it wouldn't have been good if he fell unconscious before delivering it to the men they actually wanted it to affect. Luckily the butler didn't taste it, what he did do though was look around the place somewhat surprised that the chef wasn't there to boast on how he'd done an amazing job yet again, an arrogant and egotistical prick that guy was. After a shrug he'd picked the pot of soup up from the stovetop and as he carried it out of the kitchen Artesia and Artorius had a plan set into motion, now they just had to wait for it reach the stage they needed. From where she was crouching Artesia noticed a bottle of wine within her reach, and not just any wine, this was some pretty damned expensive wine to boot. "Oooh." She whispered with a childlike sense of excitement and her hand stretching out to grab it, "Whatd'ya say? Preemptive toast to our success?" A little bit of wine wouldn't intoxicate either of the thieves and so there was no worry if they chose to have some while they waited, if Artorius didn't want to though Artesia wasn't going to pass it up. She'd wanted to try the particular vintage of wine she held in her hands for some time now and it was free, free! How could she possibly pass that up? Exactly, she couldn't. Artorius wasn't too big on wine, preferring harder drinks to quench his thirst, but he would have to make an exception for a fine vintage wine especially as a preemptive toast to their success. Though, perhaps the notion of doing so was bad luck and they were jinxing themselves. Regardless of the future consequences, two wine glasses were poured to the brim for the two which they drank down like it was pretty much water. Though, admittedly the taste was quite sublime and the scent which filled their mouths as they drank it was remarkably pleasant. It was nowhere near enough to get either of the two drink of course knowing their iron livers, but it was pleasant nonetheless. Besides, the two needed something to do while they waited for the butlers to get the food ready. Nevertheless, one of the butlers soon arrived and scooped two bowls as well as prepared the rest of the Malcal meal for delivery. Now it would be up to the two daring and ever-dashing thieves to follow the food delivery to the end, which they had done by maintaining a fixed distance in terms of positioning away from the butler as he walked up the various flights of stairs towards the office room where Relius and Lucius Malcal were conversing amongst themselves. Though, at some point the two would be forced to veer off into the ventilation shaft where they would sit and wait, well more accurately lay down and wait for them to consume their food. Unfortunately it would take some time as the two men of the Malcal household were still conversing amongst themselves. Though, soon they broke into more interesting conversation as it directly concerned the two sneaky thieves. "So, I trust you have dealt with the two thieves?" "I'm afraid the bodies haven't been found. Unfortunately, Kagura and Rachel haven't been seen either, but it's highly unlikely that the two survived based on the wounds they received from the fight." "Highly unlikely?! Relius, did I stutter when I told you to make sure you dispose of them? Damn it, Relius, those two are after my life and are a direct threat to you and your family and you let them slip away on the pre-tense of 'highly unlikely! See to it that they have been properly slain or I will have your head removed and display it proudly above the fireplace for your snot-nosed, ill-raised children that I have the misfortune of calling my blood relatives to enjoy!" Clearly someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Though, after Lucius' long and drawn out rant the man slammed his fist hard on his desk before turning towards the tray of food that he had nearly knocked over and spilled, an action which had almost caused Artorius' heart to sink. But, Lucius turned to the bowl of soup and began consuming it but after a few large spoonfuls he gasped before hurling the bowl hard across the room against the wall. "Relius?! Is this your doing?!" "No, father, as much as I would have enjoyed it. This time, those who have you have sought have come to us this time," Relius spoke before he suddenly turned towards the two thieves who had been seemingly hidden in the ventilation shaft. Moments later, the man summoned a purple-colored mechanical automaton, one which seemingly used the same technology as the guard hounds patrolling the estate's outer perimeter. With the screech of metal on metal, the machine charged towards the two and plunged a clawed hand into the shaft which would have killed either of the two thieves had they not split themselves up and moved away from the impact. But, quickly the darted out of the cover of the shaft and appeared into the large meeting room for the final confrontation. "This... This is your blunder Relius. Kill them. Now." "Well, this is one way to make an entrance. Seems awfully familiar, doesn't it?" Artorius smirked wryly. Edited by Mazohyst, Jan 12 2014, 05:53 AM.

The wine had been as good as she'd heard and imagined and once they were done Artesia found herself content, she was far even intoxicated really considering the kind of alcohol she'd normally drink and the quantity of said alcohol and ready to go she followed Artorius after the food. The pair had to make sure that they didn't lose track of the delivery to the Malcal's if they wanted to find where they were and so quickly they snuck along after the butler using pedestals and doorframes to hide themselves in the process. Upon doing so they came to a pair of incredibly intricate and sturdy looking wooden doors of a size far larger than would ever have possibly been required even for completely impractical purposes and watching as the butler went inside they knew where they had to go. The only question was; how were they going to get in there? Walking through the doors would have meant inviting a fight straight off and they had no idea how long it would take for the drug to kick in let alone IF their targets had eaten it yet. No, they would have to take another route in and that left really only one option. Back in the ventilation shafts of the estate the pair of thieves crawled along both quickly and quietly as they made their way over what boundaries would have prevented them earlier, such as walls and doorways. Together they paused in wait in the ventilation shaft listening to the conversation between Lord Relius and his father the Gray King and together they reached much the same conclusion; the old man was a dick. The way he could speak to his family and even of his family made Artesia shake her head slightly but it wasn't as if she hadn't met his kind before. While she had been raised in a close knit group of people who she considered as family despite the lack of blood relation it didn't mean that everyone else out there felt the same way regarding 'family' that she did. Sometimes people didn't have that kind of attachment to family nor did they ever have the chance to build one, much like the man who was next to her -not that she knew that of course-. Things started to turn sour for the thieves as their target realised his soup had been tampered with and rapidly things began to spiral into a scenario that both felt a sense of Deja Vu for, attacked in the vent the pair had to avoid being killed and rolling onto the scene they struck another pose. "I'm beginning to think ventilation shafts aren't really our thing." Artseia said with a chuckle and while drawing Hidari and Migi from her back. "But, as least it keeps us on our toes." Obeying his father much like a good little boy Relius launched forwards and taking his target he sent his summon after Artorius. "I'm afraid you made a grave mistake in coming here." He shouted while thrusting his arm out at Artesia from several distances away which as it travelled morphed into a large metal blade. Side stepping the attack Artesia raced alongside the blade towards Relius with the intent of reaching him and attacking, unfortunately though the man had other ideas and as she did so he swung his arm out towards her. The edge of the blade that would have struck her was the blunt side but it still would have posed a risk given that the force along would have knocked her off balance, not to mention the fact he'd already shown that he could morph said arm. Knowing all this and reacting quickly Artesia dropped to the ground with one leg sliding along the ground at her side in order to allow her rapid descent and as the blade passed over her she smirked, "Missed me." |

With Relius focusing his attention on defeating Artesia that left the male thief to deal with the man's mechanical familiar. Artorius didn't mind having to fight this one but why did Artorius get the creeping suspicion that Relius chose to fight Artesia cause of her appearance. Regardless of what it was, at least Artorius wouldn't have any qualms getting his hands bloody as he was fighting a machine and not a living breathing person. The man didn't like to outright kill people, at least not when he could avoid it, which is part of the reason why he chose to go with Louis' plan instead of just shiving the Malcal's in the back. This way was simply easier for everyone to deal with. Nevertheless there wasn't a huge amount of time to think about it as Ignis, Relius' familiar, rapidly approached and shredded the air as it swept one of its clawed appendages towards the male thief. Narrowly dodging it, Artorius delivered a sweeping blow with his drawn straight sword but it was just narrowly avoided by the machine. While it was just barely dodged Artorius couldn't help but feel that the machine was faster than it seemed and it was merely dodging his attacks in such a fashion to be as efficient as possible. Whatever it was, it just meant that Artorius had to strike harder and faster, but he didn't intend on charging in recklessly either. Instead, the man chose to bide his time and wait for an opportunity to strike as any good rogue would do. Weaving his upper body side to side, Artorius dodged a flurry of thrusting blows before he found himself with his back to the wall. Just as a crushing thrust made its way towards his head, Artorius ducked down just fast enough to avoid getting his head lopped off. In the same motion, Artorius rolled around towards the back side of the machine, shoving his blade hard towards its exposed backside while Ignis struggled to free its claws out of the wall it had struck. But, Ignis managed to repel Artorius away and prevent his attack from striking home but utilizing the appendages on its head, whirling them like spinning blades that spun with enough speed and force to slice his limbs off effortlessly. Gaining some distance, Artorius leapt backwards before collecting magical energy into his free hand and propelling it outward, hitting the thing with his trademark Kemuryū no Mori (Smoke Dragon's Harpoon), aiming the harpoon's prongs tightly together so that they met at a single point in order to maximize his damage over a smaller area. However, while he managed to do that and struck it onto its abdomen it was only barely dented and seemed utterly unphazed by the attack. This thing was durable as hell. |

Artesia launched herself forwards from her crouched position and in doing so she showed just how nimble and flexible her body was, being able to drop down as fast and as low as she had in the blink of an eye was one thing but being able to raise yourself up again just as quickly and effortlessly was something different altogether. Relius had chosen to take Artesia as his opponent because quite frankly he deemed her to be lesser of the two threats that had to be dealt with, and he wasn't truly wrong given that Artorius had much more powerful magic and the whole gender stereotype thing was active, he still wasn't one hundred percent right either though. She wasn't exactly the easier of the two to deal with depending on the situation and he was rapidly learning that. As Artesia made it within striking distance of Relius the man's face told of his panic, he had no way of moving his arm to defend himself in time and he knew it. Unfortunately though that didn't mean he was completely without anything to do and as several robotic arms shot forth from his body they forced Artesia to switch to the defensive as she blocked the strikes that came at her. With a leap backwards she put distance between them and unimpressed by it all her brows furrowed, "Tch, I've heard of being handy but that's going a little too far." Why was she trying to engage the man in pointless and lame small talk while in the middle of a fight? Well you see, she needed time to formulate a plan of attack and judging on what she had seen of the man he liked the sound of his own voice, that and the fact that he couldn't let an insult to his pride slip by without defending himself, it was the perfect strategy really. "I've never had a woman complain before." He smirked with a sickening wink to which Artesia found her stomach literally threatening to bring up the wine from earlier. Oh god... had he really... oh god.. that was just.... so.. wrong. "Congratulations, You've successfully managed to scar me for life and I'm not an easy woman to traumatise." She really wasn't kidding, there was no way that line of dialogue wasn't going to be coming back to haunt her at the most inconvenient of times. Growing tired of the talk between his son and the woman he was supposed to be killing the Gray King slammed his hand down on the table in front of him and stood from his seat. "Useless!" As the man stood from his seat he waved swung his hand in the air in front of him and as if struck by some kind of invisible force Relius was sent flying through the air into and through the wall of the chamber to which Artesia stood wide eyed and confused as hell. As he lay on the other side of the wall unconscious Relius lose control of his summon and falling to the ground Ignus would prove to be no longer a threat to Artorius. "Why is everyone around me useless?! Looks like I will just have to deal with you myself." Edited by Lightning, Jan 12 2014, 07:28 AM.
