The two emerged from the hideout with Artesia passing on a bit of information about a doctor for Artorius to see. Truthfully, Artorius didn't necessarily have a good contact for someone with capable healing techniques. If anything, much of Artorius' network of contacts had died off along with his old friend Jean Barasavi. Jean was a good friend, a backstabbing liar, but a friend no less, and one who had introduced him to quite the wealth of people who were able to assist in various ways. However, since Artorius returned to Dandelion Sector after a long stint away from the accursed and corrupted city and Jean's unexpected death, he had lost contact and touch with a lot of people who were able to assist him. Fortunately, he was lucky enough to have met Artesia who had managed to introduce him to a blacksmith, a tailor (who he probably didn't plan on meeting too often), and now a doctor. At the same time, it all showed the stark contrast between the two. Where Artesia was warm and sociable, Artorius often proved a bit cold and distant to others. The amount of people he kept around himself echoed that notion. Nevertheless, Artorius was thankful for the people who could prove useful to him. Artorius kept his distance at the Milanzo Boutique, standing off against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. Artesia managed to disarm Kriston with a simple apologetic expression, one of which Artorius couldn't help but wonder if he would give up so easily to himself. Nevertheless, after the two finished their business there the two had decided to split up until a scheduled meeting day where they would have everything ready before the final confrontation. If anything, now was a time to tie up those loose ends. At any rate, Artorius decided now would be a good time to get his wounds looked at properly and headed towards the Calypso bar. The man got a few shifty glances but after mentioning Artesia's alternate moniker he gained access easily enough and was led towards the bar's basement where he met the old doctor. Artorius got a few wise words of wisdom from the man as he cleaned up Artorius' wounds with various elixirs before applying a powerful healing technique throughout his body. The man felt a bit sore and numb after the experience but came out of the bar generally feeling much better than before, but only addled with a slight dreamlike sensation, as if everything felt surreal, perhaps a side-effect of the magical elixir that the man had taken. By the time Artorius got to his hideout he was feeling a bit loopy. Laying down, Artorius drifted off to sleep, waking up well past midnight. Once he awoke, his wounds seemed all but completely healed. By the time of their appointed meeting date Artorius would be back to top shape, perhaps even a bit better. The man spent the bulk of his time alone in his hideout working out, doing some pull ups on a bar on his doorway, push ups, and the mandatory amount of weekly sit ups required to keep those abs that make women have jelly legs. As the man spent the better half of a week in solitude he couldn't help but recollect the events of the past few days. But, some things stood out more than others. For instance, Artorius couldn't help but notice how alone he had actually been in his life. It was a stark contrast to the past few days he spent with Artesia. It was strange frankly, and he couldn't really describe it any further with words beyond that. Soon, the appointed meeting day came, the day in which they would stake out and infiltrate the so-called Vermillion Estate. As Artesia entered she would find the man in half of his armor, the top half strewn across his desk as he made a few finishing preparations to it. His gauntlets, hood, blades, and other various pieces of equipment were being prepped and primed for the final excursion. Artorius wanted to be as ready as he possibly could for this. He intended on coming back home after another long day. |

After picking up what gear they'd left at Kriston's boutique the day prior Artesia and Artorius were left to part ways for the next few days and after arranging to meet back at his hideout on the day that the piece of paper designated to them they did just that. During the short time that they were there Kriston had shared with them both a piece of information that served to make things clearer for them; the man that they wanted was not at the Vermillion estate and wouldn't be back until the date on the paper. How did this clear things up for them? Well you see, they know understood why the day on the paper was when it was and not immediately and they knew that they shouldn't bother to rush in before that date given how it would be pointless for them. Time and effort saved was a good thing indeed and when it also meant safety then it was all the better. While Artorius went to see the doctor that Artesia had told him about the woman herself went to see a different contact, one which she wanted to see in order to put in a request for more throwing knives to be made. She still had quite the stash around town and many on her but when you had the time it was always best to put in an order before you actually needed them. As per the usual she wound up staying there and having a good old fashioned catch up with the man and after a night of heavy drinking she found herself noticing something; she really did like that mattress of Artorius's, it was so damned comfortable. Perhaps she'd have to ask the man where he got it, or perhaps she'd just have to crash at his place more often be it when he was there or not. Now that she knew the way into the hideout -which she was sure she'd figure out again- she could use it whenever she wanted, well alright so perhaps it wasn't the most moral of things to do but hey it wasn't like the man would care -or at least she didn't think he would as long as he wasn't using it to entertain the ladies-. Wait, why did that thought make her feel somewhat bothered? Eh, whatever, must have been because she didn't like the idea of people using her favourite mattress, yes... that was it. After having her injuries looked to by the same doctor that she'd told Artorius about the day after he had Artesia too returned to her usual routine and did her best to rest up while remaining sharp enough to avoid being caught by what remained of any death squad. The day they arranged to meet rapidly approached though and frankly it was something she was glad about for -while she couldn't put her finger on why- she had been feeling somewhat off the whole time. She'd gotten used to having someone to throw her wit and other various lines at and heck Artorius was as she'd told him; 'an interesting guy'. Was that the whole thing though? Well, she wasn't even close to thinking on it more than that so yes, yes it was -at least for now-. Now healed up and with her attire and weapons on her Artesia walked through the tunnel which she hoped would take her to Artorius's hideout much the same way that the route she'd been shown previously would have. How had she even found the secret tunnel to the man's hideout if she hadn't been shown it? Tsk, a good thief never gives away those kinds of details, how silly of you to ask. As she climbed the ladder at the end of the tunnel Artesia couldn't help but wonder where in the hideout she'd pop up and visualising the layout in her head she tried her best to figure it out. She hadn't seen anything that made her think there was a trap door when she'd been in the place but then again if it was hidden under a rug or something -which made sense- then it wouldn't have been obvious. Sure enough as Artesia rose up through the hidden hatch in Artorius's place she found herself looking around to see that she had popped up under a rug, "Ah, so this is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow." She joked while exiting the ladder and tunnel and lowering the hatch back down, she knew full well where it would have taken her. No doubt Artorius would be surprised to see her enter the way she had but surely it wouldn't be too hard for him to understand. Seeing Artorius in all his glory as he adjusted the straps and whatnot on his upper body attire Artesia couldn't help but think to herself just how much she'd missed the sight, "Tsk, and they say women take ages to get ready." Of course there was no real rush for them to both be ready and there was no exact time set for their meeting, still, she was never one to miss a good chance for a witty line. Artorius couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and shake his head as Artesia popped out of the hatch in his apartment room as if she were a curious gopher or prairie dog checking for danger. The man couldn't help but wonder how exactly she managed to find another one of the hideout's entrances. Though, ultimately he figured it wasn't much of a problem as, if he actually cared about her compromising this place's isolation, then he would have complained about it days ago. But, so far Artesia was the only one to be able to figure out how to get here in the first place. Artorius chalked that one up to her experience as a thief, or quite simply it could just be her feminine guiles. Nevertheless, it was ultimately unimportant, he was just glad that she was here on time. Plus, it meant that she could help him get ready as it was always such a pain to get in his armor properly due to the multitude of strings and clasps that he had to attach onto himself. "You know what they say: Better safe than sorry. Besides, would you have me march in there butt naked, Artesia? Nevermind that though, make yourself useful and help me with this," Artorius said to her as he slipped on his armor piece by piece, starting with the black leather body suit over his chest before pulling on padded and hardened leather over his head and shoulders. The part in which he needed help with was a shoulder plate which would be clasped over his shoulder with a strap before he would tie it all together with various taut strings and clasps. Once Artesia assisted him in that endeavor, Artorius drew on his gauntlets with his unseen blade hidden beneath one of his arms, all of which he secured onto himself. The final details were his weaponry and miscellaneous equipment, which the man secured onto his belt and the various pockets and/or pouches along his body. After pulling the cowl over his head, Artorius finished the ensemble and turned towards Artesia. After they finished here, Artorius chose to leave the way Artesia came in, stepping down the rungs of the ladder before navigating through a tunnel. Once they exitted and walked for roughly five minutes the two would be just besides an alleyway which featured a convenient fire escape for them to climb. Climbing up, the man lead the way towards the rooftops above. "The Vermillion Estate is on the north western side of town. We travel by rooftop to there." |

Artorius hadn't even finished speaking before realising that what he was saying was bound to get a certain kind of response from his female companion and hurriedly cutting her off before she could he managed to avoid it, well the words at least, he still got the glance and the smirk. Artesia didn't mind helping Artorius with his clothes but she'd have preferred to be helping him out of them over helping him into them, oh well it wasn't like you didn't have to roll with the punches in life. "Good to see you're looking human again." She said while working away at the clasps and what not on the back of the man's gear. Having gone to the same doctor that he had Artesia knew that he'd taken her advice and help but she wasn't about it bring it up for no reason, she was however glad to see that he was looking better and that she wasn't afraid to say, well in so many words anyway. Artesia stepped back as Artorius geared himself up with his multitude of weapons and other items and as she watched on she noticed something rather interesting, "And here I was thinking my hidden blades were special." She said while clearly joking. The pair had many things in common when it came to their chosen equipment that was rather noticeable, both shared several of the same items such as the smoke bombs, caltrops and most noticeably their hidden blades which were tucked up into their wrist guards. Sometimes the woman found it interesting to see someone who she shared so many stark similarities with while also managing to share enough differences to remain obvious individuals and sometimes she found it rather confusing and conflicting. The pair made their way down the ladder and through the tunnel that lead to the outside world and as they did Artesia found herself taking notes on the various path that branched off from the one she'd already travelled through. Judging from the number of them alone and the various directions they branched out in there was at least ten or so different places Artorius could travel home, and that wasn't including the ones that were above ground either. Impressive, yep impressive was really the only word use in the situation. Together and like minions of the night the pair of thieves dashed along the rooftops of the sector on their way towards the Vermillion estate in its north western district and as they arrived at its perimeter Artesia decided to speak up. "Welp, how are you with dogs?"She asked because as they sat on the rooftop they were perched on at least five or so large houndswere clearly visible. "Or should I say computers?" As the light from the moon which came out from behind a large and dark cloud shone down on the dogs it was obvious that they were of a robotic nature. |

Together the two dashed along the rooftops of the city that never sleeps towards the so-called Vermillion Estate located towards the outer rim of Dandelion Sector. Estates like these were usually quite far from the city and Vermillion was no exception. Though, Artorius had always figured that if he had enough money to build a wealthy estate like that he would have built it much farther away, totally outside of Dandelion. However, usually estates like these aren't built on legitimate, hard-earned money, but on the blood and sweat of someone or another. Who ever said crime never pays is a damned fool and Dandelion Sector as a whole is a single conclusive argument to shut that stupid phrase down. Crime pays, it just so happens that you take a knife to the gut after it pays, but sometimes you don't, and those that don't tend to make it big. Nevertheless, as the two sat at a distance away from the estate perched upon a rooftop, Artorius closely examined the surroundings to see if he could figure out any potential point of entries. Typically, it was Artorius' preferred method to scout the place out beforehand but it seemed unlikely as this place was evidently always closely guarded. The level of security was no surprise, but it was a pain nonetheless, loaded with mechanical hounds which patrolled the perimeter. Turning towards Artesia, the man shook his head and his lips crept into a smirk, though she wouldn't see it courtesy of the mask that he wore which concealed his face except for his eyes. "Can't say I'm bad with them. Though, I've always been more of a cat person myself," Artorius joked before he switched back to the matter at hand. "Though, we'll be able to take them out easily. I've dealt with these sort before. A thrown knife or a swift blow to the red portion at the side of their head beneath their ears will take them out easily. Fortunately, since they're mechanical automatons we won't have to worry about feeling bad about it, because frankly I would feel a little bad about it. Even a natural cat person can't exactly find much joy about murdering a dog. What can I say, even I can appreciate those widdle pawsies, soft ears, and wet noses," Artorius added in with a hint of sarcasm, but he was a bit serious in context anyway. "Follow me," Artorius spoke in a hushed whisper as he crept low before darting down the rooftop, making his way over a gate, before dashing towards the safety behind a tree. After this, the man held his hand in a fist beside his head, the universal sign to pause. Just as he did so, a mechanical hound towards the tree, but it soon left to return to its usual patrol. This was the downside to mechanical hounds over live ones -- they are just so damned predictable in their patrol paths. Quickly, Artorius gave her the gesture to move forward, darting ahead towards the next bit of cover. |

Why was it that Artesia had absolutely no trouble picturing Artorius as a cat person? Maybe it was the way he held himself and the way he seemed to hold himself in an off stand-ish and solitary manner, or maybe it was just the way he leapt around the alleys, tunnels and rooftops of Dandelion Sector. Either way, she couldn't help but smile a little at the thought of it, even more so as he spoke about dogs and their little paws, soft ears and wet noses. God. Freaking. Damn. It. For a man already as attractive at the best of times to speak about animals in such a coo worthy way should have been illegal in much the same way making a woman choose between sleep and meat should have been. Honestly Artesia would have had to knock the dogs out if they were real because the idea of killing them made her sick to her stomach, it just didn't sit right with her to do that. They were only doing what they had to do after all. It was a good thing that Artorius was much the same because if he hadn't been there was no telling what would have happened to their friendship. Biting on her bottom lip slightly as she fought the desire to glance across at Artorius with a look that didn't belong on an assignment she had to turn her gaze away and to the distance where she could see the figure of a human guard disappearing. Now was their time to move. As the first robotic hound showed the glaring fault with using them over living, breathing ones Artesia caught sight of something moving off in the distance, before she could make out exactly what it was though Artorius had sprung into motion and she had to follow him. Whatever it was though it couldn't have been anything to worry about, she'd only seen a flicker of movement and it hadn't been a robotic dog or anywhere near large enough to be a person. Maybe it was a cat or something? Just as she came to that conclusion it seemed that Artesia had summoned the creature from the shadows for leaping down from the high fence of the perimeter it landed with a loud and seemingly taunting call, one which was immediately followed by the robotic growls and barks of the guard bots. "Well, looks like they like you too." Artesia said watching the black cat lead the robotic dogs well and truly away from their location. Who would have guessed that people would program the things to have the same weakness to cats as their living counterparts? It didn't make much sense if you asked her. Wouldn't you have wanted to eliminate a weakness if you had the chance? Eh, whatever, maybe they opted for the cheap ones or something. Without the robotic dogs to catch them Artesia and Artorius were presented with a temporary chance to reach the building itself and if they were lucky they could even climb it at the same time. As they reached the edge of the building Artesia drew two throwing knives and as she held them in her hand she coated it with a cover of her magic, "Upsie daisie." As she threw the blades up into the air much like one would a grappling hook they left behind what could only be described as a trail of the darkness which coated it and as it pierced/hooked itself up into the rooftop the darkness magic/trail solidified itself turning into two solid ropes. |

Artorius couldn't help but notice the sudden change of expression cast upon Artesia's facial features. The man watched as she bit her lip slightly with a rather desirable expression. Though, how exactly the woman reverted her expression to one like that in relation to Artorius talking about the rather cute and adorable features was beyond the man's comprehension. Was it really that abnormal? A bit dense in this particular case, Artorius couldn't help but figure that she had that look on her face because she was trying to restrain laughter. Though, surely it couldn't have been too unusual based on his choice of aprons, namely the little chocobo chick that he wore on the front of his cooking apron. "Don't make that face," Artorius spoke with a confused expression. "At least save it for after we're through with this place. We'll get drunk and you can laugh about me talking about kitties and puppies later," Artorius spoke, a bit unaware of the true reason why she held that expression while simultaneously making an unintentional innuendo. Though, had he known he might have said the same thing, only with less laughing and more yeah. Moments later the two were fortunately granted a clever distraction in the form of a black cat. Admittedly, the man's eyes glazed over at the thought of an adorable black neko-kun~ with its little paws walking around like it owned the damned place. But, he didn't have time to let himself get distracted and had to make use of the distraction that the cat had provided for them. Making their way forward, the two made their way towards the side of the building. At that point, the woman drew two throwing knives with a strand of magic in the form of string. Using the knives like grappling hook, the two ascended up the ropes hurriedly but quietly until they managed to make their way up to the roof top of the building. The layout of the state had it so that there were multiple buildings though most of which were interconnected. Right now, the two thieves found themselves on the west wing. The east wing appeared to be a guard station of sorts as it had a tall tower with which Artorius could faintly see the presence of armed guards. It would do wise to stay as far away from that place as possible. Quietly tip-toeing on top of the roof, Artorius pointed towards a balcony and window through which they could gain entry. Peeking over the edge of the roof whilst upside down, Artorius checked to make sure the coast was clear before quietly lowering himself and offering a hand to Artesia. Once on the balcony, the man took the edge of one of his many knives to unclasp the locking mechanism on the inside of the window. Fortunately, the window was ajar just enough that the blade of his knife could slip through and unhook it. Sheathing his knife with one hand and catching the window with the other, Artorius crept inside. Edited by Mazohyst, Jan 11 2014, 10:19 AM.

As she jumped down from the edge of the roof to where Artorius stood waiting to help soften her landing via semi catching her and therefore slowing her descent Artesia kind of knew how it would all go down, there was little chance of them not getting close when it happened after all. Caught just inches off of the ground by Artorius's hands clasping onto the side of her a little under her arms she wasn't completely stopped in motion, instead she was merely slowed slightly so as to avoid making any sounds when she landed. It wasn't really necessary given that she could have done so quietly without the aid but it wasn't like she'd turn it down given who was offering it and all. As she was lowered down to the ground Artorius copped quite the view of the melons that Kagura had been so eager to see just that closely but like any other time he managed to keep a straight face. It was impressive how he could manage it where any lesser man would have crumbled so many times. Artesia followed Artorius inside the building through the window that he opened and as she did so she closed it behind them just enough that it wouldn't be noticed as opened by anyone that walked on by it, there wouldn't have been any fun in being discovered because of such a silly and rookie-ish mistake. The room that the pair found themselves entering the building through was what seemed to be a guest room and as her eyes scanned it Artesia noted how it seemed like it hadn't been used in a while, then again given the estate that they were in and the fact there would be no shortage of hired help that probably didn't mean much. The second thing that she noticed about the room though was the bed, and the large, luxurious and enticing mattress that rested upon it. As they walked further into the room Artesia was quick to approach the bed and pressing her fingertips down on top of it she gave an impressed nod of her head, "Hmm not bad, not great but not bad." When or if Artorius glanced over to the bed he'd notice Artesia was sitting upon it bouncing up and down on the springy and soft mattress as if she was an appraising customer at an inn or other kind of lodging provider. Now I know what you are thinking and worry not, there was no concern needed over the fact that the bed would be messed up because in the corner of the room sat a litter box and it's unmistakeable odour was obvious from the moment they had entered the room. If anyone came in they'd just think that the cat messed the bed's top over up so there was no worry needed about her actions. "Not as good as yours though." She winked. As footsteps came to interrupt the pair and their moments of time to themselves they would have to think fast if they wanted to avoid being caught, "Mr Tinkles, where are you Mr Tinkles." Footsteps rapidly came to interrupt the pair of thieves, giving them warning but a very brief amount of time to react. Pointing over towards a nearby tall wardrobe, Artorius opened it and pulled Artesia in. Unfortunately, the amount of space in the wardrobe wasn't exactly very high. So, the two had to practically wrap their arms and hug each other as they stood inside of it, having to slow their breathing as they stood tightly against each other. Though, Artorius' breathing notably accelerated when he realized the woman's chest was pressed tightly against him, and the man had to press his mouth against her shoulder to muffle the sound of his breathe as the oddly accented maid took her time looking for the so-called Mr. Tinkles. Through a faint crack in the wardrobe the two were able to barely see the stout and overweight maid search the room for Mr. Tinkles. The woman searched high and low, making Artorius a bit worried that she might check the inside of the wardrobe for some reason. Fortunately, the maid found the cat hiding beneath the guest room bed and grabbed it by the tail and ankles. As she dragged the cat out, a bit forcibly I might add, the cat clawed onto the carpet, digging it up as it was hoisted away. "It's time for your bath time!" the maid spoke in her uncomfortably strange accent as she dragged the cat away. Once Artorius heard the sound of running water and the door close tightly shut, the man pushed the door open. Artorius' face was flushed red and his breathing was a bit ragged. I know what you're thinking but there's a reason for both and it's not what you're thinking. Instead, Artorius was just having a hard time breathing in that wardrobe, especially with those melons pressed tightly against his chest. Secondly, his face was warm and red because there was a cat, and like previously mentioned Artorius had a rather soft spot for cats, even if this one was rather fat and pudgy with a cute smooshed up face. It was cute, damn it, and even men think things are cute sometimes. It doesn't subtract from their man points, and I'm totally not projecting here or anything! Right? Right. I think. Nevertheless, when Artorius managed to calm down and get his breathing back to its normal calmed pace Artorius led the way, opening the door with a quiet creak before he crept towards a hallway. Several shadows and footsteps could be seen and heard as they walked which prompted the man to hide behind a pedestal and some pottery in the darkness but they disappeared without approaching. Glad that the coast was now clear, Artorius pointed towards a ventilation shaft and grate, which Artorius quickly unscrewed before crawling in, making sure he went first this time so Artesia wouldn't make any quips about him staring at her ass. Well, it's not like he wasn't though admittedly. |

Being forced to hide in a wardrobe wasn't really all that bad given that it was better than the alternative of being caught, with that said though things became slightly more complicated when you added in that the wardrobe was cramped and there were two bodies being forced to share it. Factor in that the two bodies had a hard enough time not finding one another attractive and therefore preventing the things that went that with that attraction and you find yourself with a rather intense and heated scenario that's for sure. Pulled into the wardrobe so that her chest was pressed flush up against Artorius's own Artesia had no choice but to wrap her arms around him and hold him close as if in a romantic embrace being shared by lovers who hadn't seen each other in a long time. Now make no mistake here, she wasn't against the close nature of their current situation, what she didn't really enjoy was having to suppress the desires that would come from it. Not only did she have to stand there as close as could be with the man in the wardrobe with her but she had to hear and feel his heartbeat, smell the scent that was his own and feel his hot breath against her neck, it was all rather cruel to say the least. Closing her eyes and biting her lip Artesia fought against many primal urges that arose in the given situation and cursing her weaknesses that were unknowingly and innocently being exploited by Artorius she had to do all she could to remain still and silent. The door that had been opened had been done so by a rather large and portly looking female maid -not that Artesia could tell what she looked like given her back was facing the room- and as she searched the room looking for Mr Tinkles it became obvious what she had been searching for. While it was lucky that the cat was found by the maid under the bed in a timely fashion it was unlucky that the cat had been seen by Artorius for the reaction that he had to it only served to make things worse. God. Freaking. Damn. It. This was the opposite of Batman. Eventually the cat and the maid left the room and Artorius opened the wardrobe door and wiggled by Artesia to exit it, Artesia though stood there in the wardrobe for several minutes as she composed herself. Frustrated by how the man was seemingly completely fine with what had just transpired and unaware that he too had been 'suffering' during it she couldn't help but find herself somewhat miffed. With a deep breath she turned and walked from the wardrobe and moving quickly so as to hide her heated cheeks and rapid heart rate she was all too eager to move forwards. The pair made their way through yet another ventilation shaft but this time it was Artesia who had the view of her companions rear end, normally this would have been an all to welcomed thing but given how she was currently already flustered she kind of wished it wasn't happening. How was she supposed to control herself when this was all happening? What was that? You wouldn't have thought that a woman would be feeling so strongly in all of this? What are you, some kind of sexist pig, women have desires too you know! The pair were moving at a good pace through the ventilation shaft, or at least they had been until Artorius suddenly came to an all too sudden halt to which Artesia barely had time to mimic.
