"Well, I suppose I should start from the beginning. My name is Zero by the way." Feeling the temperature drop a bit, Zero put on all of his armor, except the helmet and gauntlets. "I never really knew my mother. She died giving birth. My father always seemed to hate me. Only thing I got from him was boxing lessons. And then, there was the fire. I was still a kid when it happened. After it was over, I came to the sudden realization that I was all alone." Zero left the space of a full minute here, in case Ericka wanted to interject, before continuing. "After I pulled myself together, I lived in the wilderness for a bit before returning to the ruins of my old home. Using what was left of my father's old tools, I rebuilt the place. And that's where I live now. A house that I built half way up the mountain. It's not much, but it's mine. My parents rest about a quarter of the way up. I visit their grave every year on my birthday, just to talk to them." Sickened with how much information he had just revealed about himself, Zero paid for two more drinks. "Well, enough about me, what about you?" |

Nodding as the guy introduced himself, Ericka smiled. "Nice to meet ya Stone." She replied. Yes, Zero heard correctly. She called the guy Stone. She heard Zero and she heard him say Zero, but Ericka was quirky like that. She got his name wrong and called him something completely different. The relation between Zero and Stone was completely unknown, but somehow that's what Ericka ended up calling him after hearing his name. And no matter how many times he corrected her or tried to fix it, the name would stick. It was just something everyone learned to deal with when they spoke to the girl. However, after that, the guy did something weird, he put on his armor. What was that all about? This was a bar. Why was he putting it on and why was he putting it on. Having worn armor herself back in her days as a knight, Ericka knew a thing or two about the stuff and how it didn't play will with skin. The joints pinched and the metal chafed. How this guy could stand to wear it straight up and have no marks on his body was beyond her. Maybe the armor had a lining inside it or something. Or maybe this guy was still drunk. Finishing up her first drink, Ericka set it back on the bar and waited for her second one to be poured. Hearing his story, it was pretty traumatic. Ericka couldn't deny that. She couldn't imagine a world without her mother and would be devastated if she died. She couldn't relate to such a loss, but she could give her thoughts. "All the people in Fiore, you can’t ever really be alone. You just have to find someone to spend your time with." She said to him. Sure his family was gone now, but he could start one of his own. It wasn't a bridge that was closed for all eternity. As long as he tried, he'd be able to find people that could love him like his parents did. "But I have to say, building your own house is pretty impressive. Not sure about the wilderness thing though." She said with a small chuckle, trying to lighten up the mood. "As for me, nothing that significant. Guess you could say I'm your regular girl next door." |

"Um...it's Zero. Sure, I know people have it worse off than me. I know that there is someone out there, but I don't know where or when to start looking. I guess I'm just stalling for time." As the clock struck midnight, Zero remembered something, a promise that he had made to himself. "Merry Christmas ... Sarah, was it?" Of course he remembered that her name was Ericka. He just wanted to have a spot of fun with her. "So, got any immediate plans? Oh, that reminds me, you said I should join a guild. Any that you would reccomend?" |

Ericka looked at the guy as he repeated his name. Why would he go and do that? As far as Ericka was concerned, he got the guy's name right and for him to say it again was pretty weird. But this was the same guy that was drinking in his underwear and then put armor on for no reason. Maybe he was just a weirdo. The girl mentally shrugged as she took another sip of her second drink. "Well, I get that. Not everyone is just ready to jump out there and move on. Just don't get stuck for too long." She warned as she set her glass back down one the table. Then he wished her a merry Christmas, but totally called her the wrong name. How the hell did he do that when she just told him what it was? Maybe he really was drunk and just didn't seem like it outside of the few oddities she had seen so far. "Sarah?" She questioned, looking to the bartender who shrugged. "No no, I'm Ericka. That doesn't even sound like Sarah. You sure you haven't had too much to drink Stone?" She asked. She glanced to the bartender, who again, just shrugged and decided to stay out of it. Shaking her head, Ericka turned back to the bar and cupped her drink. "I'm heading back home to Belladonna tomorrow. Just relaxing for now. As a guild, the only one I know well enough to recommend is mine, Lamia Scale. Though, I don't think running around in your boxers is a good idea. We have kids there." |

"Oh, right, Sarah was yesterday. So, Ericka, do you mind if I tail along? I mean, I've heard such good things about Lamia Scale. Maybe you could show me the way there?" This was it, Zero's chance to prove he wasn't so useless after all. All he had to do was make a good impression. "By the way, the beer any good there? Work hard play hard, right?" Drinking, while it was his favorite pass time was not all that Zero did. "Also, kinda hoping there might be a few sturdy punching bags." Zero made a show of the boxing gloves that he kept on his belt when not using them. |

Ericka looked to Zero and raised a brow. The trip to Belladonna was actually an easy one from Trillium. With this being a major city, the train that ran south was pretty much a straight shot. But considering he wasn't all that into guilds and barely knew about them, it was possible he didn't know much about trains either. It wasn't exactly something he'd need if he was living up in the mountains; that was for sure. And being the helpful person that Ericka was, she totally didn't mind helping someone else out. "Sure thing dude. It's a pretty easy trip if you can handle the train ride." She explained. "As for the drink, not too sure. I don't drink that often, but they have a lot of nice shops." She said with a smile. "There's this one confectionery shop that has some awesome sweets. It's close to my house, so it's always a battle to fight the urge to pig out there. Luckily, I've got a roommate that keeps things from going out of control." Ericka mentioned. Her roommate and teammate Nadia had a good handle on things. She was the more mature of the two of them and was far less likely of going out of control like hyper mode Ericka was. Then the guy mentioned boxing and training, which every guild had. Sure, a few people were surprised to see such things at a guild known for magic research and development, but that was just part of the stereotype. Lamia Scale mages weren't all eggheads and Ericka was the perfect example. As a user of Krav Maga, she often trained and practiced her self-defense art. She wasn't the only one in the guild that did this and was glad for it. It just showed that the guild stereotypes weren't all truth. "We have things like that. Lamia Scale has a nice following of martial artist. Me being one of them." |

At the mention of a roommate, zero raised an eyebrow himself. "And is she as lovely as yourself?" While not the most tactful of wording, Zero had had a bit to drink. This being the case, hopefully his tactless line would be forgiven. Then he heard about the martial arts training. "Oh, good. It's been a while since I used a proper bag." And then she mentioned her own art. "Care to give me a short solo demonstration?" While he didn't exactly want to keep her too long, Zero did enjoy seeing different fighting styles. If anything, he liked to try and incorporate parts of them into his boxing. |

Ericka couldn't help but laugh as the guy brought out a pick up line with less than subtle intentions. Usually, Ericka was all for playing along. The flirting game was fun as long as it didn't go too far. But this guy had already ruined his chances by drinking at a bar in his underwear. She was glad that she finally got him to open up, but that was all she was really going for, conversation. Luckily, the awkward moment wouldn't last too long as the Zero moved the conversation back to the guild and training. It was a much more neutral topic. "I'm sure you'll find something to fit you there." She started, allowing him to ask for a demonstration. Honestly, it was just kind of the wrong place and time for such a thing. Ericka was at the bar to relax and talk. While she was definitely a girl of action, she couldn't go on action mode twenty-four/seven, despite what everyone else would like to think. "Eh, not now, maybe some other time. I'm really just looking to have a drink or two and head back to my hotel." She replied, taking a sip form her drink. "Alone." She added, just in case he was going to ask to come with her. "For someone that's been living on a mountain, you have some odd habits, but I can't say you are the oddest I've seen." Ericka said continuing the conversation to something else. "Though, your magic is strangely fitting. Maybe I should invest is learning something ice related." She mentioned; more to herself than Zero. Ericka wasn't new to elemental forms and she knew that she had one she could use; she just needed to practice it. Noble Frost would definitely be an interesting addition to her arsenal. |
