The Doll

It was a regular summer night, one like many others. Anita was in the living room, watching some T.V., but there was nothing interesting on. It was all crappy shows or the latest news about a series of kidnappings. Nothing that wasn't usual on a Sunday night. Her parents were out and had instructed her to go to bed early. Something that she had of course, like any other teenager does, ignored and it was way past midnight already. However, she was finally getting tired and there wasn't even a decent movie on pay-per-view that could keep her from her from wanting to go to bed.

It was then that she heard something. At first its seemed like nothing, but she soon heard it again. It sounded like a door creaking open, but she was alone in the house, and there was no wind to speak of. At this point, more curious than afraid, Anita got up from the couch and made her way to the corridor. When she looked in the corridor, her heart skipped a beat, as she saw someone standing there, facing away from her. A girl, or so it seemed, younger than her, possibly not older than 10 years old, at least from her size, and she seemed to be crying.

"Who are you?", Anita asked in all her innocence. The little girl seemed to try to soak up the tear using her sleeve. "Are you ok?", added Anita.

This was when the girl slowly turned, and Anita was filled with terror as she realized the girl has no face. Nothing, no eyes, no nose, mouth or hears. It was completely blank. Even so there was evidence that tears had been rolling down her face from nonexistent eyes.

"Have you seen my doll?", the girl asked. Anita did not respond, frozen in fear as she was. The girl took a step towards Anita, and Anita's body responded by taking a step back.

"Have you seen my doll?", the girl repeated. Anita could not answer, both due to fear, confusing and plainly for not knowing the answer.

"Have you seen my doll?", repeated the girl one more time, but this time, there was a hint of fury in her voice, and Anita, either by reflex or pure willpower, raised her arm and pointed in the room on the opposite end of the corridor.

The girl turned slowly, and began making her way to her new destination. Anita on the other hand, continued taking steps back, steadily gaining speed, up until she found herself making a dash to the front door. Anita opened the door, and ran away as fast as she could.

Anita did not knew how far she had gotten, when she heard chilling wail. Anita began running faster, faster than she ever thought to be capable of.

"YOU LIED TO ME! WHY DID YOU LIE!? WHYYY????"

Anita turned to face the girl... and all went black.
"Hey Mia, should we go to bed? Mom said we should have gone to bed at 10 o'clock sharp.", asked the younger sister.

"Mom isn't here, and as long as you don't tell, she will never know. And what are you? A baby? We are teenagers now, we don't need to go to bed that soon. Besides, I want to watch T.V a little longer."

"But there isn't anything on. Just more news about those kidnappings."

"Yeah. The last one was close by too."

"They said the parents found a weird doll on top of their daughter's bed. How creepy is that?"

"Very freaky."

"Shhh... Did you hear that?"

"Hear what? Are you trying to scare me or something?"

"No. Shut up and listen."

The Dog

A traveling salesman came to Makahiya Village for a few days, selling his wares from door to door. He was a friendly man with a warm grin and a joke for everyone. He was accompanied by a large white dog that rode on the wagon beside him; companion, friend, and guardian of his wares.

The salesman and dog were making their way out of town when a murder was discovered in one of the places in which they had sported their wares. Suspicion blossomed at once against the stranger—certainly no one the townsfolk knew was capable of committing such a crime!—and a lynch mob chased the salesman out of town and strung him up on a tree beside the road.
The white dog howled and barked and roared as the mob carried his master away. More than one man was bitten as the salesman, still screaming out his innocence, was silenced forever. One fellow finally shot his gun at the white dog, wounding it enough to send it whimpering away. It soon became obvious to everyone in town that they’d hanged the wrong man. The corpse, dangling obscenely from the tree on Old Willow Road, was a grisly reminder of the community crime. They’d have cut down the salesman and given him a decent burial, but the white dog stood guard over his master’s corpse day after day, savagely threatening anyone who came near the hanging tree. So the salesman’s body withered and rotted underneath the tree beside the road, filling the air with a terrible stench as it desiccated in the summer heat. It was many weeks before body and dog disappeared from the Old Willow Road.

A few months later, a man who'd participated in the salesman's lynching happened to be walking down Old Willow Road at night. As he drew near the hanging tree, his nose wrinkled in disgust as a whiff of rotten flesh swept past his face and his stomach roiled. He staggered backward, his arm over his nose, wondering what was causing the terrible stench. Then he spotted the hanging tree, and saw upon it a glowing, desiccated corpse dangling obscenely by the neck from one of its branches. And beneath the ghostly figure stood a huge, white dog with glowing red eyes.

The dog growled menacingly when he saw the man on the road, and the man stumbled backward over the rut in the center of the road and then started to run. With an ear-shattering series of barks, the white dog pursued the fleeing man with supernatural speed. The man whipped this way and that, spinning around, leaping into the woods to dodge around trees, trying to avoid the huge dog snapping at his heels. If he fell, the dog would be at his throat immediately.
The man crashed headlong into a tree and flung himself upward. Below him, the ghost dog leapt, and sharp teeth closed on the man's hand. Pain ripped through him, and he climbed higher, trying to shake off the glowing beast. “Let go!” he screamed, kicking at it again. Suddenly, the white dog turned to mist before his eyes and swirled away. Realizing that the white dog might reappear at any moment, the man seized his chance. He slithered down the tree and ran all the way home. His wife sent a neighbor to fetch the doctor, who stitched up his hand as best he could. The white dog had nearly severed the palm, and the nerves were so badly damaged that he was crippled in that hand for the rest of his life. The man later learned that every person who had participated in the lynching of the salesman was attacked by the ghost of the white dog. Many—like himself—were crippled in some way. As for the fellow who’d shot and injured the white dog—well, his four-year-old son disappeared and was never seen again.

Darker shade of pink

It was another night at Quatro Cerberus’ Guild Hall. Luna was sitting next to a window, watching the rain fall down. Normally Luna loved watching the rain fall, but today was Halloween and it was meant to be a fun event. Instead she was the only one in the enter guild. How that happened she had absolutely no idea. People shuffled in, people shuffled out. But the fire mage didn’t move from her spot. If only there was someone here that she could talk with. If only there was some kind of event that happened this year.

Memories of last year’s event came back to her. She recalled her and Dran having to face that Red Devil and all the skeletons. It was rather fun actually. Well right up until the part when the red devil guy came back dressed as a girl and thought that Luna and Dran were going out and it- Luna shivered at the thought of what happened. Never again. She was never again going to be graced with that nightmare.

A noise came from upstairs. The blonde’s brows scrunched together. There wasn’t anyone here. She had gone through the guild once just to make sure about an hour ago. And for a whole hour she had been watching outside as the rain fell just to make sure if anyone came back that she could do something with them. “It must be my imagination. No one is here.” But just after saying that the light suddenly went out.

Alright what was going on here?

Luna frowned as she formed a fireball in her hand, giving her a bit of light. Alright something was going on here and she was going to get to the bottom of this.

The fire mage wondered around the entirety of the guild. Room after room she entered looking for something. She had even checked the basement and tried turning the lights back on. But that didn’t work. Finally she had returned to the main area of the guild and let out a sigh. As she thought, no one was here. It was just some kind of black out and everything was going to be right again. She was just making herself scared because it was in fact Halloween. “Luna you are just being silly.”

But as she was returning back to her little spot by the window she noticed someone in a dress standing with their back facing the fire mage. Oh did someone come in when she was walking around? Luna took a step closer. “Hey sorry about the lights, it seems as though they won’t come on. When did you get here and-”

Like every perfect horror story, the person in the dress turned to face the blonde as a bolt of lightning filled the entire room. And Luna? Luna was standing still, hardly breathing. Her brown eyes stared at the person with large eyes. And to make matter worse, she was sure that anyone next to her could hear her heart beating rapidly.

“Tell me I’m pretty…” the person in the dress said, taking a small step forward.

Another bolt of lightning filled the room, showing that the person in the room was a male. And again the person stepped forward. “Please…tell me I’m pretty.”

At this point Luna took a step back. However, Luna fell backwards and stared at the man coming closer to her. The lights turned back on to revile the true identity of the man. It was a horrifying thing. The man was in a pink sparkly dress that reaches to his knees. It was sparkly too. His legs were not shaved and the hair stuck out of the leggings. He wore three inch heels with and pink painted toe nails. On his face he wore make-up. Bright red lipstick beat out the glob of blush that was poured on his face. And eye shadow? Yeah that was also pink and very noticeable. To make matters worse he did not shave for a while and was sporting a rather messy bearded.

Luna stared at him, shaking where she sat. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t get away. She couldn’t run. This image was going to haunt her even longer than watching Dran kiss the Red Devil over and over again for a thousand years. Here stood Dran in a dress…..asking if he was pretty.

“LUNA PLEASE TELL ME I’M PRETTY!”

The lights went out again as a scream ripped through the guild hall. Dran was never seen again.

The Scare Track

This is the story of three young girls and the school's costume contest they were meant to judge. Every year, their middle school held a costume contest on Halloween. It wasn't just for the best or most well done costume. No, this was for the scariest one of them all. It was Halloween after all and everything was meant to be scary. The contest was also a little different. Instead of judging the costumes one by one, the girls would walk a dark path. On this path, each contestant would jump out and try to scare the girls. Whoever scared them the most would be declared the winner. This year, the judges went by the name of Olivia, Matilda, and Gertrude. They were all in the same class and all close friends. Olivia was the leader of the group. She was charismatic and pretty fearless. She felt as though nothing could scare so, which made her the perfect judge. Matilda was a little weaker willed. She wasn't a huge fan of all things scary, but as long as she was with her friends, she wasn't worried about it. And last, but not least, was Gertrude. She was the tomboy and much more rough and tumble. Not exactly the fearless leader type, but definitely an up and coming tsundere.

The event was to take place that evening after school. It would be right after school let out and right before everyone's normal trick or treating time. All through the day, the students and classes were talking about the costume contest. It was something that everyone looked forward to, even if they weren't a judge or contestant. The trio was getting all kinds of attention though. Being chosen to be the one frightened meant the contestants had to know what the girls were scared of. And being good judges meant the girls had to keep a lid on that kind of thing. All day they were begged and bothered and poked about their fears and interests, but they would not budge. The girls did, after all, know what everyone was really after. Their fears had to be under lock and key if they wanted to judge this thing correctly. Sure enough, the last bell rung and the kids were free from school. Many went home to as they normally would. Some would stay to watch the scare walk, while others would go to change into their costumes for the event. Olivia, Matilda, and Gertrude would make their way to their lockers, chatting about what was to come.

"This is gonna be so fun! None of them are gonna scare me." Olivia said, flaunting her inability to be scared. She was quite proud of her brave attitude. Gertrude would snicker at her and shake her head. "Well, someone's gotta win. Everyone will get mad if you don't pick someone. I mean, I don't care, but it would be annoying to get bad looks for a month." She told Olivia as the girl chuckled. "Whatever. I just want them to try hard." Matilda would be silently grabbing her books to put into her bag, not wanting to mention how easily scared she was. Olivia would take note of this and pat the girl on the head. "Calm down girl. We'll all be there and they are all just costumes. Nothing to worry about okay." She said, consoling the girl and hoping to get her pumped for the whole thing. As other student walked passed, they would look at the group as if they were weird before running ahead. It was something that Matilda was used to and both Olivia and Gertrude ignored. If people had real problems with their friendship, Gertrude would handle them.

Soon enough, the time would come for the judging. The girls would be waiting at the start of the "scare track" with their homeroom teacher. "I know you know the rules, but I'll repeat them for you." She said, looking at Matilda. "You just have to walk the scare track while the participants try to scare you with their costumes. I'll be following, but I short distance back, so don't worry about. At the end, you can just tell me which one was the scariest." She told the girls while they waited. "Understand all that?" She questioned as the girls nodded their heads in unison. With that, the event was off and it was time for the trio to make their way down the track. The path would be dimly lit and have a whole scary atmosphere. It wasn't just the scarers and the scarees in the game, but those students who worked on making the whole thing as scary as possible. It was what made the event so fun. It wouldn't take too long for the trio to meet the first couple of costumed students. All of them popped out to scare Matilda, since she was the easiest of the three to frighten, but the first group wasn't all that scary, even for her.

About half way down the path, one student would do something a little different. He wanted to be a ghost, but to be a convincing one; he had to do more than just a costume. The boy had borrowed his dad's old projector. He was going to do a fun little projector trick to make his ghost see-through and intangible. So when the trio got in range, he flipped the switch and got into position. He stood in front of the projector's camera in his best looking raggedy clothing and held his arms out above him in ghost fashion. "BoooOooooOo!" He wailed, trying to get a reaction out of the girls. Matilda would jump, frightened by the sudden appearance of what looked to be a real ghost. Olivia couldn't help but laugh. It scared her for a moment, but that only made it seem funny. "Oh wow, that's pretty good!" She exclaimed as Gertrude stepped ahead of the rest and tried to feel the ghost. She could move her hand right through him, which only scared Matilda more. "Are projectors cheating?" Gertrude questioned as the teacher caught up. "Well...he's still on costume." She said to the girls. They would shrug and move on along the path.

The next batch of students would be nothing eventful. That was until they got a really good one. Her appearance would arrive with smoke seeping into the path. The girl would clamor out from the bushes and in front of the girls. Her hair was a mess and bans covered one of her eyes. Her clothes were ripped and bloodied and she looked like she had not eaten in weeks. In her hands, he held a disfigured teddy bear that had blood stains all over it. Matilda would scream when she saw it, running back to the teacher. Even Olivia and Gertrude were scared. The creepy girl would not even look at them or say anything at first. She would just slowly move across the path and stop for a moment halfway. She looked to the group, her eye almost glowing in the darkness. "No...Not you." She muttered before continuing across the path and behind a tree to simple disappeared out of sight. It would be a costume that would be incredibly hard to top from the looks of things, that was for sure.

After the teacher calmed the girls down, they would make their way through the rest of the path. However, none of the other costumes even came close to how scary the girl with the teddy bear was. It was pretty clear who the winner was and the trio of girls knew that. The next day, once the class was assembled, Olivia, Gertrude, and Matilda were called up to the front during homeroom. "Well, everyone did really well last night, but there can be only one winner. Girls...?" The teacher announced as the girls stood proudly at the front. "There was only one costume that scared me the most. It was that creepy girl with the teddy bear doll." Olivia said, Gertrude nodding in agreement. Matilda would look to the two of her friends and nod as well. "Yeah....people were scary, but she was the scariest. She didn't even have to try!" Matilda cried out. There was moan and groan all around the classroom as other student realized that they did not win.

The teacher sent the girls back to their desk and smiled. "Well, that would be our winner is..." She started, going through the cards to see which student had that costume. The students had to tell the teacher beforehand what they would be so students would not try to claim each other's prize. "This winner....is....huh?" She questioned. It would seem that while all the students and their costumes were accounted for, there was no one that was doing that for their costume. Just who was that girl then? "Looks like...that person was no one girls. You sure it wasn't anyone from another class?" The teacher questioned. However, checks would should that no one had seen or heard of anyone trying to do anything remotely similar to the girl with the bloodied bear. No one in the school had even seen it but the girls and the teacher and a new Halloween mystery was born.

Stay the course.

It was a simple job. Get in, then get out. He didn't plan on complicating things at all, but it's not like he didn't come unprepared either.

"A graveyard on a foggy moonlit night. They really couldn't have picked a better setting. It's nights like these that really make me appreciate my job a little more," he wisecracked to a nonexistent audience while he moved towards the stone wall that surrounded the exterior of the graveyard. The wall was a few meters high but it was nothing he wasn't capable of climbing. Nothing gets between him and his paycheck, especially not a stupid wall. Climbing up, he hoisted himself and momentarily stood atop the high wall. "Nyaaaaaa~," a black cat loudly cried as it too sat upon the walls. Curiously, it held a rat by the tail in its mouth and had offered it to the man. "I'll have to pass on that one," he spoke before hopping down the stone brick wall.

The fog brought visibility down to an extreme low. The man couldn't see his hand in front of his own face. At the very least, it made him harder to see. He moved, stepping lightly and silently as he walked over the grass, stepping over the men and women which sat six feet beneath him. They weren't missing much.

A hop over a tombstone and a step forward brought him to his destination -- a large marble mausoleum wrapped with vines and rotting trees. The thief never understood the need for fancy overpriced coffins like these. Pushing that thought aside, he stood in the shadows as he examined the mausoleum door. Sealed, of course, but there's always a way to open these things. Beside the doors stood two statue, angels standing an eternal watch. "They're not doing a particularly good job though..." he mused to himself as he ran his hands over one of the statues, trying to find some sort of defect or noticeable flaw. "Secret buttons. My favorite," he whispered as he pushed it, an eye in the angel which was depressed as he pushed his finger against it. With a low rumble the stone door crept open just enough for him to slide through.

Dark. It was incredibly dark inside, the very definition of pitch black. Drawing a lighter from his pockets, the thief mustered up the courage to keep moving. No use in letting a little darkness scare him away from his paycheck. "These things are always way larger than them seem on the outside," he spoke as he ran his hands along the walls of the mausoleum, scanning around for his target. "Here we are!"

The man stood in front of a large rectangular box made of stone and attached to the mausoleum floor. "Nothing like a little tomb raiding to liven things up," he spoke as he pushed off the heavy stone lid which noisily slid, falling to the ground with a thump. "There it is." His target had been a golden locket with a massive diamond embedded into it. Something like this would be a small fortune when sold to a fence that wouldn't rip you off too much. He would have taken it for himself if he hadn't already been hired for it. "It's not stealing if they're dead," he murmured while his hands grasped the locket, sticky fingers beginning to remove it from the 'owner.'

"Yes. It is stealing." An unknown voice spoke as a cold hand placed itself on the man's shoulder.

The Fear

"Yea man, I'm telling you, I was scared shitless!" "Damn bro! Thank God you're still alive!" The young men were at the back of the large ship with the rest of the crew, as they were cruise sailing through the sea, miles and miles from the west coast of Fiore. One old man, a man who looked like someone who had seen things, a man who experienced some real shit and had seen death many times, looked at the two younger men. His eyes seem to tell something and he started to speak.

"You say you were 'scared'? You had no fear inside of you. What you experienced was merely a rush of adrenaline, a sensation of excitement. Me? I have truly felt fear, the unfiltered, uncomprehensible feeling that literally destroys a part of your soul and makes you unable to even to focus. I had an idea of it on one adventure in the Sanzibar Desert, but I truly experienced it thirty-four years ago, in the Lavender Forest."

I was around the same age as you young men, around thirty years old. Also just like you, I was a traveler. I loved to go around the world, see new cultures, seek new friends, bask in the wonders of nature. Once in a while, I go and see some old friends of mine, old or young. One such friend lived in the Lavender Forest. It had beend several years since I had seen him; he thought me everything I knew about using guns.

I went to visit him with two other people, two men who were going to spend the night as well at his house. They were Jonathan and Joseph. Jonathan had been working for the man for now three years, so he knew what had happened in his life. Two years ago, the old man had killed a poacher who had tried to poach his rare breed of dog. Ever since then, his sons, both married, had decided to live with him.

Everything was starting to get dark, and something... chilly started to settle in the air. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I think God was preparing me for what was going to happen.

Joseph knocked on the door. From the ill transparent window, we could see the barrel of a rifle aimed at us. "Who is this?!?!" The old man had always been cautious, but something in his voice was different this time. "It's me, old man!" For a few seconds, nothing happened. Then, the door opened for us.

Inside, the atmosphere was heavy. Looking around, I noticed that the old man's two sons were each holding a well-sharpened weapon: one a machete, the other a small axe. Their wives were in the corner furthest to me to my left, their face buried in their hands, trembling. The rare dog was now old and it was apparent it could barely see. I didn't understand what was going on, so I looked at the old man. "I killed a poacher two years ago," he said, his rifle still aimed at the window, but his voice filled with excitement with a small hint of regret, "And now he's coming back to haunt me."

I decided to do something about the atmosphere. For a good thirty minutes, I pulled out the best stories I knew to entertain the minds of these people, but none of them, not even Joseph and Jonathan, seemed to be calm. Once in a while, one of them would look towards the window. And then it happened.

The dog suddenly got up from its slumber and starting howling a very heart-wrenching cry, one that literally froze my blood. It started to bark at the fire and howl, which made the old man get up and aim his gun at the window as his sons got ready to fight a knife fight. "He can sense him! He was there when it happened!" The dog continued his shenanigans, strutting all around the small wooden house for an hour. This hour was the longest one in my life. My heart jumped every time the dog howled, my eyes kept going towards the window, my heart beat became irregular and I started to sweat like a waterfall. All for something I wasn't even sure existed.

After that hour passed, the dog was still howling. Jonathan snapped. "That's enough!" He took the dog, opened the door and swung him outside. For about two minutes, we were calm. But that didn't stay too long.

We all heard that noise; someone was outside, and that person was passing its hand on the outer wall, scratchin with its nails and lightly stomping his/her feet. The ladies went back to their corners, the sons were ready to jump and the old man's rifle was aimed, but just like me, they were scared shitless. And that scary phase turned into one of complete and utter dread once we heard the noise move towards the entrance. A shadow was behind the door, and its eyes were glowing.

BAM! A shot went off, seemingly scaring off the figure. The sons had hesitated to do anything, but the old man had been quicker to take back his wits. So, we all continued stayed inside, waiting, waiting to see what was out there and whether or not it would come. Our fear and suffering would end once a single ray of sunlight passed the window. The old man decided to take a peek outside to see what was going on. As he opened the door, we all gasped.

The dog was laying dead, a single bullet wound to the head.

Ask away; I have all the answers.

Eve
The chill of the howling wind echoed with a moan... A sigh... A shadow swaying left and right. Under the moon's watchful eye a cloud obstructed it's view, protecting it's innocent sight as a scene unfolded down below. In the alley where the shadow resided, there was was a loud screech and scream followed by the clattering of metal and a furious figure clawing the wall... It was almost like it was trying to pulling itself out of its own demise, only failing to do so oh so miserably leaving a trail of dripping red dye.

It didn't take long for the neighbors all around to see; people fainted, people screamed, people called it the Spirit of Eve. The howling of the wind--the sound of a portal opening, connecting the realm of Hades to the living, the sigh of the devils pointlessly chasing after the pitiful souls, and the screaming of Lady Eve who was never far from obtaining what she had lost so long ago. Hands of those who abide by the devil's word drag her down, clutching her waist, grabbing her legs, tearing at her already worn clothes and hair. She cries for help but so few attempt as many know, those who reach out their hand will only get sucked into the place of the damned.

A lone girl, no greater than 5, strolled down the empty streets of Belladonna City. A gust of wind blew her pretty-pink skirt and there she was, standing on underworld dirt. Many people saw the scene unfold but were all too scared to take part of the show. There it was, the circle of those who've come to the end but were thrown into the place of fiery dread. Lady Eve was there and all, held down by those fallen and null. With a desperate plea, she stretched out a hand at the little girl's knee for that was all she could manage with the burden upon her sole. The little girl gasp but alas she didn't know that those who helped would forever be a lost soul. She took her hand and there it was, the love Eve ever desired for. But the moment they touched, they were pulled and...

Those who witnessed said a little prayer, not to girl but to the Lady Eve for as when the girl grabbed her hand there was a smile on her face... Not a sweet, innocent smile but a twisted guile. Her eyes were not mellow but hollow and empty, peering into the already lifeless soul of those bound to obsidi. Lady Eve screamed in fear and tried to tear apart their grip but the little girl had grit and held on to the pitiful ghost. Not long after, the hands of those who belonged to the devil began to pull them down. Her head twisted and turned as the flames of hell burned. When the portal closed, the grin spread from ear to ear... all hell broke loose and feared.

Trick or Treat, Aye! Jirachi's First Halloween. (Cannon and Non cannon characters)
Trick or Treat, Aye! cover image

The cheers of the little star critter was echoing, telepathically speaking, through the room as Jirachi learned of one of the most simplest and energetic joys that a child-like creature could learn to come at the end of October 31st. The ancient tradition of where on Halloween where ghouls and goblins would roam the street, asking people from their homes for tokens. It was simple.

Trick or TREAT!!

The little star fairy had learned about Trick or Treat, where he could collect all the sweets from doorsteps he could want. The little star critter with such a big sweet tooth was spinning in the air in sheer excitement. It was cute but at the same time exhausting to him so excited, knowing it was going to be a busy night keeping the little guy in line.
Zachary just rubbed his head. It was so adorable he had to sigh from contempt as well as grief. It was going to be a long night.

The streets of Magnolia were already decorated for Halloween. Jack-o-lanterns and streamers lined every street post and cast an orange glow into the night. Even from the window, Zachary could see the decorations now in bloom. Whether in light of the Magnolia Harvest Festival or Halloween itself, the decorations made the entire town one big spook-fest. Already as the sun had begun to set, little kids with their parents began to take their kids dressed up in masks and bed sheets with holes for eyes out to start trick-or-treating.

Candy candy!! Jirachi said excitedly, nearly bouncing off the walls.

"Now now, calm down," a female voice spoke. Zachary rolled his eyes as he saw a black cat with a witches hat jump down from a nearby shelf. It was Kite's little stray cat that had a few unusual talents as well as another roommate to the apartment. Blair the cat, who could turn into a young and beautiful female witch. As she landed upon the ground, she became a puff of purple smoke to which she stood again, in a black and moderately revealing witch's outfit, complete with black hat. "Cute thing like you can't go trick or treating without a costume"

Zachary rubbed the back of his head. "What can we put on him. Got nothing his size." Zachary commented, giving Blair a look.

She just gave Zachary a face and then turned to Jirachi. The star critter looked confused at her as she hovered a bit close to him, her face before him. "Aw don't you worry little guy. Consider me your Halloween fairy god-mother." Jirachi grew a happy look as Blair hovered with her fingers hovering above him.

"Pum-Pumpkin-Pumpkin!" She said in a cheery tone, wagging a finger above Jirachi. She then tapped him on the head, and soon caused smoke to engulf the little guy. As the smoke cleared, Jirachi appeared in a new color. It was a soft cosmetic spell that changed his ribbon color to orange, his eyes a light shade of orange, making him look like a piece of candy corn. Also he now wore an interesting little costume. He wore a cute little pointy witch hat that was black and orange that matched his little ribbons and now was holding a want with a glowing star at the top which gave off sparkles as it was swished through the air.

Ooohhh! Jirachi said in awe as he looked at the wand in hand. He grew a big smile and twirled in the air. Yay! Twick or Tweat!
Night time had come and Jirachi was all set. Zachary now walked beside his cute companion. He was dressed in more classic attire. A blue wizard robe with pointy hat. He too couldn't help but want to enjoy the Halloween festivities. His outfit had stars on it, almost similar to his regular blue attire in color. Jirachi hovered a few paces ahead of him. He had his wand in one hand, and in the other, he held a tiny bag no bigger than a tiny zip lock bag. However, that bag was a special item given by Blair. A bottomless bag for Jirachi to collect all the candy he wants. No matter how much, the bag would be endless and be as light as a feather.

Jirachi would approach a door along line of houses that was along Magnolia's east side. Zachary waited at the end of the path, watching Jirachi patiently. The little star critter pushed the button of a doorbell and waited, hovering cutely with his little bag.
The door opened and Jirachi grew a big smile. Twick or Tweat! he said cutely, clearly using a childish tone for saying 'Trick or Treat'.

The woman who opened the door went 'aww' at the sight of the little star. "Oh my goodness. You are just the cutest little thing I ever seen!" she went on, holding a bucket of candy in her other hand. Jirachi giggled at the compliment, smiling adorably. The lady then got out a few mini candy bars. Small for a regular kid but compared to Jirachi, they looked as big as his little head. She dropped them into the bag, where they vanished inside. "There you go."

Aye! he giggled jubilantly, fluttering in circles.

What do you say to the nice lady, Jirachi Jirachi heard Zachary's thoughts, telling him to say the right words Zachary had taught Jirachi.

Thank youw, Jirachi replied to the lady, and then fluttered back to where Zachary was waiting. As he fluttered to his friend, Zachary took his robbed hand and rubbed Jirachi's head as they made their way to the next house.

Other children were running around with costumes. Some dressed as frankenstein, wolf-man masks, ghosts. Some had more elaborate magic costumes, looking like blobs of ooze with an illusion save for their bodies contained inside the illusion, or actual skeletons in which magic made their bodies transparent save for that part. Someone who made magic items took their job with Halloween costumes way too seriously.

The next house they went to was a lone house with a few dead trees in the yard. Not severely lighted. Zachary had a weird feeling about this house so he chose to go with Jirachi towards the door. Zachary knocked on the door.

The door opened and then Jirachi all too enthusiastically went 'Twick or Tweat'.

WoooooOO! The howl came out loud and clear as standing before Jirachi and Zachary was a large, blackened furred wolf man with a frightful face. Claws and all, clad in a pair of pants. The guy looked like he stepped right out of a horror film.
"Treat... good idea! How about I snack on you both! AHAHA!" he growled.

"WHAAAAAH!!"
both Zachary and Jirachi shrieked and proceeded to run.
The werewolf then got a worried look on his face.

"Wait wait! Hold on a minute. Zach it's me!!" the werewolf shouted, reaching and grabbed Zachary by the shoulder.

After a brief moment of panic, Zachary stopped and soon recognized the voice. He turned to the face of the werewolf, and soon noticed the strange tattoo that encompassed around his left eye. "What... Free? Is that you?" Zachary asked, causing Jirachi to also look at the wolf man.

The werewolf laughed, scratching the back of his head. "Ahaha! Sorry about that. I thought I'd give some visitors a little scare but didn't mean to startle you." Free said, laughing a bit.

Free was a new member to Fairy Tail, after Zachary had met him on a job. Free was running a little gang involving turning people into werewolves through his power. While he was pretty much causing problems and hurting people, his intentions were not malicious in the belief he was giving people freedom from their lives by turning them into werewolves. Since then and learning the errors of his ways, he had redeemed himself of his crimes and became a member of Fairy Tail, inspired by Zachary's courage and skill.

"A little scare?!" Zachary said, baffled, "You're a full size, REAL were-wolf! A little scare doesn't even begin to describe the heart attack I got from it."

Free tried to re-frame from laughing but failed. "Sorry about that," he stated.
Now calm, Jirachi fluttered to Free in his wolf-form and smiled himself.

Aye! Wolf man have candy? Jirachi asked, Pwease?

Free chuckled a bit as he looked at Jirachi. "Aw how can I say no to a guy that cute." Free took a bag from behind his door and took a big hand full of candy in his large clawed hand. He dumped it slowly into Jirachi's tiny bag, disappearing inside. "There you go, little guy. Don't eat it all in one place. You'd be a balloon if you eat it all."

Jirachi gave a cute eye, and floated to Zachary, who caught him in his arms. "Thanks, Free. May I have some too?"

Free gave Zachary a wolfish grin, in his wolf form. "I could... if you let me take a bite out of you. HAHA! Come on! You know you wanna be a werewolf like me" he said.

Zachary grumbled a bit, glaring at Free, remembering how the guy tried to turn him before. "I told you before, and I tell you again, I am comfortable in my own skin, thank you." he said in more dry humor.

With some laughs and some candy to Zachary, the two left Free's house for their next destination.

After a few other successful houses, they visited another odd house that seemed to be up in stitches. Literally, looking like a patch work of was a lot more conspicuous than the others. It was far worse and strange-- almost plain in comparison to the others as they knocked on the door.

The door soon opened to reveal a man in a lab coat, glasses and the quality that sent up red lights in Zachary's mind-- a giant screw sticking out of his head. It was the crazy Dr. Stein Zachary had once worked for and who tried to experiment on him. The guy's glasses obscured his eyes, only showing his crazy smirk.

"Trick or... treat?" Zachary spoke, not realizing the words that came out of his mouth in fright.

Stein turned the screw in his head. "Trick or treat...?" he asked, turning it with a sickening creaking sound. "What is supposed to happen now? Oh yeah I remember!" He then and grabbed a bucket of a jack-o-lantern. "Is this the treat you were expecting?" He asked almost care free.

The two blinked, then Zachary and his little star-critter friend peeked into the bucket. Inside, it appeared to look like palely colored gumballs. They looked at them for a moment...

Suddenly, the objects moved and turned, revealing that the gumball shaped objects LOOKED UP at them! Irises opening up at them. They were eye-balls, all looking up at the two. Revulsion and fear took their faces as they looked at the crazy bucket of 'candy' he tried to offer them.

"WAAAAAAH!!!" they both screamed co medically.

"METEOR!" Zachary casted his flight spell and like a shooting star, took off from the house and flew at high speed out of the place.

Left alone, the strange doctor looked at his bucket of eye balls. "Huh... perhaps these candy magic gumballs are a bit too much for kids... Oh well! Ahahaha!" he laughed, and closed the door to his house.
***
After hits and misses with the trick or treating, the cute duo of Jirachi and Zachary returned home. Upon returning to their apartment, Jirachi fluttered to the table and quickly poured his little bag open. Candy came out onto the surface, making the star go giddy with glee, throwing himself into a now potent pile of candy as big as him where he rolled around it in. Zachary just laughed, knowing now that Jirachi just loved Halloween.

The Shadow in the Library

The autumn breeze couldn’t feel any better. It was a wonderful evening. With the sun setting, it gave a calm reddish orange color to the sky, perfect atmosphere for a quick read. Ezekiel had donned his wool trench coat over his usual attire along with a blue scarf. He walked down the nearly empty street towards his favorite spot, Magnolia’s finest bookstore. Of course the library has been his favorite since he was a child, but no library had a café like the bookstore had.

Coming to the front of the bookstore, Zeke came to find it closed down for Hallow’s Eve. Odd, but he didn’t question it. He had already exited his home with the intent of finding a good book to read, so he headed to the library. Upon entering the quiet and empty place, the summoner was surprised to see that it was more emptier than he had last visited. With a city of mages, one would think the library would be more filled.

Into ‘Fiction C to D’, Ezekiel walked, the sound of his steps emanating throughout the library. He traced his finger against the binds of each book, adjusting his glasses, trying to read the titles, but it was a tad difficult given that the lighting within the library was dim, more so than usual; possibly a lack of focus when it came to replacing the light lacrimas; the staff is surely lazy.

Ezekiel pulled out Lykus’ Murder Mysteries from the top shelf mainly because it was out of it’s aisle. Surely this was to be in the Horror section. The summoner began flipping through the book to confirm his thoughts.

Kreed ran down the dark corridor, the smell of sulfur was strong and the mossy stone walls were so narrow, it was difficult to move through, but he had to deal with such troubles, for the abomination was nearing, closing in. He couldn’t tell how close it was, for he dare not look back and chance slowing himself down for even a millisecond. But he could hear it, it’s pants and beast-like growls along with the loud thumping of it running… no, it wasn’t running a half minute ago, the thumping now became far quicker, now the thing ran, it was picking up speed and getting closer; Kreed could hear it, he could smell it. He needed to keep running or else-

-Thump-

Ezekiel quickly looked up, staring down the aisle in the direction the sound came from. There was nothing, no one. It had taken Zeke a moment to realize his heart was beating quickly, he was more alert and frozen in his place, trying to keep silent rather than ask if anyone was there. Was it the book that was getting him so on edge? This is a public library, why should he be the only one there?

Even though these reasons are logical, the summoner quickly walked to the end of the aisle. Once he peeked around the corner, he found no one. What stood out however was a lone book on the floor just five aisles down. The library has always been organized because of the simple magical sorting system. However seeing that the book remain on the floor rather than magically float back to it’s section was odd.

Figuring that staying any longer without any witnesses would be idiotic, Zeke took the Mystery book and headed to the front to have the librarian sort it before he left. But when he reached the front desk, no one was present and what worried him further was the fact that there were no paperwork on the table, not even a pencil. Everything on the desk and even the book carts were put away as if the library was closed. If it was closed, then why was the front door open?

Zeke decided to leave right then and there. He dropped the book on the desk and quickly walked to the front doors. He gave a tug to find that the doors were locked. But how? Did they close up while he was looking through aisles thinking everyone had left? No, that’s not logical, the magical security system should have traced me Zeke was getting really worried, there were too many odd things happening. And there was the possibility that someone or something that had dropped the book.

Looking about to see … something off, Zeke only saw the dim lit library until he saw something move near Fiction C to D, where he was. The summoner stood there for a moment, shocked. Something was in the library with him, and he knew for a fact it wasn’t the librarian, otherwise she would have kicked him out long ago.

When Zeke gained a hold of his body again, he decided to summon Aries and have him use his brute strength to open the doors. “Open the doorway to war” Zeke whispered as he pulled out the black key of Mars.

… Nothing happened.

The only possible explanation would be that the security ward within the library was keeping all magic dormant so theft wouldn’t be possible. He couldn’t stay here. Zeke quickly and as quietly as he could, moved towards the windows. The library’s security system was strong enough to keep Aries locked up, the doors were sealed, why did Zeke think the windows were a way out? Maybe it was fear that was throwing logic out the metaphorical window. As expected, the windows were shut. The summoner turned about and looked around, hoping the thing, whatever it was, didn’t get anywhere near him.

There was nothing. Zeke’s eyes then drew towards Fiction C to D once more, his heart beating quickly, expecting a figure to come out. But why be so scared when the spot he was staring at was so far away, on the other side of the large library? Then something came to mind, the lights. Exactly an hour after the library closes, the lights turn off. The good news about that is that when the lights go off, Zeke would be able to figure out when exactly the library closed, the bad news would be that he would be in the dark, a fear every child has and every adult has had when they were a child.

As if someone was reading his mind, the lights had gone off. Zeke was too afraid to moved, he continued to face Fiction C to D. When his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he could spot the outline of the aisle. Then something happened; a part of the aisle had shifted as if something was there for the moment and then suddenly dove back into the aisle. A shiver ran down Zeke’s spine. Something was there, he wasn’t imagining things. Fear was causing him to sweat, his heart beat quickening.

Another ‘thump’ came from Fiction C to D. That was the last straw, he needed to the thing to come out so his fear would cease, “Come out, you bastard!!” He yelled at the top of his lungs. The echoed ran throughout the library, but there was no reply which scared Zeke more, he couldn’t just stand there. The thing knew his position now but it didn’t want to give out it’s.

Ezekiel wanted to run into the aisle and throw books at it until finally revealed itself so he could deal with it with less fear, but the moment the sound of something heavy collapsing along with several books hitting the floor was heard, Ezekiel gave in and ran towards the front doors while pulling out his three keys, “Open the doorway to War!” Nothing happened, “Open the doorway to the traveler!!” Still nothing. Zeke looked back and noticed a tall black human-like figure at least eleven feet tall with it’s head titled oddly standing in the center of the library, Zeke lost it, he didn’t care if Jupiter killed him for summoning him, he just wanted it to end, “OPEN THE DOORWAY TO THE STORM!!!” nothing happened.

Ezekiel bang his fist and Jupiter’s key against the door yelling, “OPEN!! OPEN, JUPITER, YOU BASTARD!!” His ears ringing from his own voice and banging, his mind going berserk with fear. Then there was something warm hitting his neck, it took Zeke a second to realize that it was breath, his moment of quiet was over when he yelled at the topic of his lungs with a shout he never knew he could do, “OPEN!!!!” Then a large explosion happened, a flash of blue light filled the library, a crash and thoom!

Ezekiel opened his eyes to see the front doors gone and only a large hole stood, revealing the night of outside. He didn’t hesitate as he bolted out of the library and into the cold night. His hand still gripping the black key that wouldn’t stop giving off static.

The following morning, Ezekiel visited the bookstore, had a cup of tea and read the headlines on the newspaper. It seems there was an explosion that occurred at the library, lightning had struck and set the place ablaze, destroying thousands of books in the process, luckily there were no bodies found. Zeke was scared of the fact that only but burnt books were found. What was that thing that was at the library? Was it just hysteria? Or was it truly real and his life was truly in danger? He then pulled out Jupiter’s key and pressed his lips against it, thanking the God of Lightning.
