As Dodger was making his way back into the forest, he found it quite amazing how non of the chocobos were in the same location. Normally, especially when unbound, the birds prefer to flock together. He had earlier thought that would make this mission a lot simpler since they would just have to find the group. But no, it would seem as though the birds had plans of their own. If they weren't flocking together, then they surely must have been overwhelmed in being let out of the fence to the point of going each of their own ways. He shrugged at the thought that there were more birds to look from then on. Going past where the bird from earlier was, Dodger moved towards the hedges. Deprived of hearing has it owns pain and for him at the moment, it was beginning to get to his nerves. He grumbled under his breath as he unconsciously started playing with his magic as he walk, a red liquid appearing next to his arm and forming into splotch like blobs that floated in the air and followed him. He made sure to keep all possible senses open for anything and he was beginning to feel quite frustrated as he went past about a kilometre into the forest. By then, he had form a large blood boomerang by the hand and using it like a poker to push some of the bushes aside. Just then, he spotted a chocobo from afar and almost in instinct, he thew the boomerang towards the bird before he noticed what he did. He cursed as the boomerang left a trail of broken barks and hedges as it soared and he ran after it. He reached out a hand willed the blood boomerang to dissolve right before it could hit the chocobo that was nailed on the spot, eyes wide and seemingly frightened. The red liquid dissolved and went past the bird from both sides, streaming ad hitting the trees and before he knew it, the chocobo started to run away. Dodger, at that point, almost regretted doing it. He might as well have had the chicken killed. And it might have been easier to apologise to the owner or something. He shrugged out loud as he raced to the side, thankful his vesper was still in effect before he jumped over a thick bush and trampled the bird to the ground. It clacked and squawked and struggled but Dodger didn't budge. In the end, the bird got exhausted and Dodger finally got it stand without trying to escape. Like before, the hunter showed a strange love for the animal despite his earlier intention of killing it. It was a large bird after all, and any large animal had a soft place in his heart as it reminded him of his beloved Bant. "Come on, your brothers are probably waiting." he said as he led the chocobo past the forest, but he stopped halfway as he spotted another one. He looked at the bird he a rope as leash and back to the one he spotted in the distance. "It'll save us time this way," he said as he started towards the other, "Come on, just tell your little brother not to run away." And the chocobo squawked, but the other one started running away. "Hey, are you conspiring against me?" he glared at the bird before he led the bird as he decided to follow the other one. In fact, he had the bold idea of mounting the chocobo and he used his knowledge of being wolf rider from his home to rein in the bird and steer it. |

Kite started to travel in the direction that the third Chocobo ran off in with the other two Chocobo secured by the rope that was supplied. He held on to them with one hand and with an extremey tight grip. Kite wasn't sure just how far away the bird ran or if it had even kept running straight for all he knew it had turned and ran into the woods which would make finding this Chocobo that much more difficult. Kite stopped walking and stood in the middle of the dirt like path that he had been lead to by following the Chocobo and looked down at the ground. He looked to the right and the left and a vein popped ontop of his head and his fists clenched tight and he remained quiet for a second any way. Kite stomped his foot on the ground and looked up in the air " you damn Chocobo why did you have to run away for! why couldn't you have just stood still like a deer looking at a pair of head lights or something!!" he yelled but stopped when his stomach started to grumble and roared to show that he was now hungry. He crouched down holding his stomach "damn it, I got so pissed off that I made myself hungry...haha I guess I'd better stop messing around and get to work finding these Chocobos." Kite stood straight up and stretched his back and looked at the two that he had been able to get a hold of and started to wonder if it was a good idea to bring them along with him. "maybe it would be better for you guy if i tied you by the stream so I can get the rest of your friends and you'd be able to get water and such." Kite liked this idea but just as he decided to walk towards where he estimated a stream would be located he heard the call of a wolf in the distance and quickly changed his mind. He wasn't going to risk failing this mission, especially if it meant one or two of the birds getting eaten by wolves. " lets get moving we are losing sunight and I'd hate to leave your friends out here at night, they wouldn't have much of a chance." Kite said as he pulled them along continuing down the dirt path. Kite walked for about a hundred yards but then stopped at the sight of some fresh foot prints in the middle of the dirt path. Kite crouched down to get a better look at the tracks and gained a grin on his face. In a whispered voice "perfect, whether or not it's the one I was originally tracking makes no difference. One is close enough for me to get." Kite punched the ground in excitment and started going off in the direction that the tracks were leading. Just as Kite started to get some distance he was suddenly yanked back when the two Chocobos that he had secured froze in their tracks and both began to chirp. Kite looked around on his guard expecting a wolf or some other sort of predator that lives in the area but much to his surprise a Chocobo calmly approached him and stood still looking Kite over. It then walked over to it's family members and stood next to them. Kite walked over with a third made lasso and very cautiously placed it around it's neck. Kite stroked it's neck and smiled " I suppose the sound of the wolves made you rethink your idea of running away...Don't worry I'll protect you" Kite said in an unusally soft voice and started to lead them further down the path with three out of his five in hand. |

So the first two birds were a piece of cake to capture, so Maya was not expecting to have much trouble taking the others in. However, for giant yellow chicken, the remaining three seemed to have a knack at hiding in this mountain area. That or Maya was looking in the wrong place. The sun was high, there was no shade, and Maya was more annoyed than ever. There was no way she was going to run after the next one for too long, she needed to catch him by surprise. Once Maya began searching deeper into the mountain range, it did not take long to find the next prey. But what and how was this bird doing this deep into the mountains? There was nothing to eat here, and definitely nothing to drink either. Still, there it was, and Maya needed to grab him, the problem was that, the freaking bird was right in the middle of a rocky corridor that lead even deeper into the mountains. Not only that, it was impossible to scale the walls to get into a better position, so Maya's could only follow the path directly to the chocobo. It was obvious that the stupid bird would run away once it spotted her, but Maya did not have any other alternative, so she went for it. Walking slowly, Maya approached the bird in plane sight, hoping that it wouldn't be scared and ran. That, of course, did not happen, and as soon as the bag of yellow feathers saw her, it began to run. Tired, thirsty, and very much annoyed, Maya took our Crimson Reaper, and began firing ahead of the bird. The chocobo changed direction every time the rock in from of him was hit by a round from Maya's weapon, until eventually, it stopped running completely and stared at Maya. "Come here. I won't hurt you.", said Maya with a emotionless face, which then turned into a dead chilling glare, "If you don't, I might cap your knee." Maybe it understood what Maya said, or maybe it was instinct of self preservation, but regardless of what it was, the chocobo gave up trying to run, and sat down where it was, waiting for Maya to come to pick him up. "Three down, two to go.", said Maya as she got her hand on the chocobo, "Never though this job to be like this." |

As he rode on the chocobo, they moved past the thick hedges and found the clearing leading to a larger field with what looked like a stream parting the land. Much to Dodger's luck, the chocobo wasn't following one of its brothers after all. Instead, it seemed to have lead him to that stream in order for it to take a few laps of cool water. He was frustrated. But he didn't fault the bird and unmounted the ride. He patted it and brushed the feathers in place before letting out a heavy sigh. His vesper influence was over and there was no longer that red aura of killing intent emitting from his body so it made sense that the chocobo stood still. He approached the stream and leaned over to take a few drinks of his own. He then watched his reflection on the water and wondered what the hell he was doing there. All around him was the forest and yet it felt so foreign to him as foreign as this country. And yet, it also felt strange. He loved the forest, much because it was his realm back in Bant. He was the regular shadow that moved across the dense forest of tall lichen filled trees. And yet the lichen itself was more white from the snow than green of the plants. It always had life and it was always home. But fire's forest even though green and basically what a forest really is, felt nothing short of a strange desert of large unknown trees. He sighed and flicked at his reflection. He then looked to the chocobo who looked back at him after having sated his thirst. "Well, let's move on now?" he asked though he didn't wait for a reply. Surprisingly, the chocobo was quite cooperative and didn't make much of a fuss as he was about to hop on. Just then, there was a squawk and he peered over the yellow bird to find another chocobo on the other end of the stream. Almost immediately he chased after it, the caught chocobo following behind him thanks to the leash. As they ran past the edge of the stream, it fled back into the forest. This time, however, Dodger was ready as he flicked his hand and out came blood lances from the ground, erupting like spiked fences to stop the bird. Fortunately, it stopped before it got skewered and with no other options, Dodger caught his fourth. Though sharing the leash was about to be a problem. He managed by tying both birds at either ends and mounted the one before (the more obedient one) as he led them back to the entrance to where the other two were waiting. Now, where were the others? |

Kite made his way down the path with three of his five targets in hand. Kite knew he was making really good time with everything considering, being late for the mission, having to split up to find five chocobos on our own and to top it off is the fact that one ran away from him and it was going to bother him until he found it. Which meant that he wouldn't know until he had all five "just two..." Kite corrected himself along his train of thoughts "no thats not right There is still the golden on that we have to grab after we round up theses other guys." Kite's belly interrupted with a growling sound causing Kite to stop walking. Kite looked back at his captured Chocobos and wondered what i would take to get these guts to help him out. That's when he remembered he forgot to ask a crucial question..what is the best possible way to lure out the birds in question. While he was pondering this the sound of the brush shuffling about escaped him and a long necked bird poked it's head out and let out a squawk when it noticed Kite and it's friends. Despite Kite missing out on the chocobo's entance Kite surely didn't miss that loud squawk. Kite's eyes widened upon hearing it and slowly lifted his head up looking at the chocobo who greeted him. Kite knew better than to make any sudden movements. " well now hey there where did you come from?" he said to the Chocobo in a soft voice trying not to startle the run away bird. Kite went to take a step towards it but he remembered just how fast these critters were and if it turned and went to run it would most likely get away from Kite, so Kite tried a different tactic and walked towards the Chocobos he had secured. He started to pet the Chocobo closest to him and it started to show how much it enjoyed having it's feathers stroked. man I hope this works Kite thought to himself but he felt something poke the shoulder behind him. Kite looked back and saw that the new Chocobo wanted in on the action so Kite took his finger and stroked under it's beak which made it squawk in enjoyment and knocked it's head on Kite's. Kite took out a lasso and placed it around the compliant Chocobo's beak and he hopped on it's back and secured himself. " alright guys we gotta find one more and then we can go home" Kite said but caught a glance of the last Chocobo and it was booking away from them...it was clear it didn't want to be caught. " oh so it is you.... gonna get you this time!.. lets go" Kite said and directed the Chocobos to run so they did and Kite was now chasing down the run away bird that was between him and completing this mission. |

OOC: srry for the delay. but you guys should now start to decide were the golden chocobo is... i mean, give suggestions and then we will decide afterwards. Maya was leading the new catch back to where she had left the other two, when she noticed something weird in the distance. There was a third chocobo with the other two. It probably hear those two crying out or something and came to met them, or possibly save its friends, Maya wasn't sure of the intelligence of this birds. How much luck did Maya had this day she could not say, but nonetheless this was a chance she wasn't going to pass out. Making sure the chocobo, she was currently escorting, was safely tied and out of sight, Maya made her way to the group. Hopefully her luck would last long enough for her to cast this bird off guard. Using the rocks as cover, Maya walked silently and even crawling at times, in order to get close enough to ambush that oversize chicken and catch it before it was able to even know what hit it. However, something that Maya never expected happened. As she was approaching the group, a fourth chocobo appeared right in front of her. Some call it unfortunate coincidences, Maya simply refers to it as luck in excess. As the bird saw her, it's cry sounded the alarm for the other, which immediately ran away. The one that found Maya wasn't as lucky, however, as she lunged at it so fast, it was unable to even take a step to try and evade her. But right now Maya couldn't savor the victory, as the last chocobo she was supposed to catch was making a run for it. Maya quickly pulled her new catch to where the first two where, and used some rope, she had left there for her next catches, to tie the chocobo the the same rock the other two were strapped to. And as soon as she was over, she initiated pursuit. There was only one left, and she had her sights on it. There was no way she was going to let it escape. |

As Dodger was on his way to the entrance, mounting the third chocobo, while dragging along the fourth one by connection of the rope-turned-leash, he spotted something strange in the distance. He stopped on his way and turned to look at the side. Lo and behold, it was another of the feathery yellow creatures. He took no hesitation to move out, prompting his mount to start to a run and the other following quite obediently. Perhaps the chocobos weren't as troublesome as they first posed as. And as his sprung from within the shadows of the forest, he found the chocobo he spotted earlier. The bird gave an edgy squawk and then started running. It became a mouse chase as his mount seemed to have an idea of what was happening and was lucky to be competitive enough not to lose from a race. It ran like a bird on the loose and the fourth one was doing great having to run beside them. Now it seemed that capturing his fifth bird didn't seem problematic. As they jumped from the hedges and into the clearing beyond, Dodger launched from the mount he was on and with enough aerodynamics and agility, he managed to grab hold of the chocobo. He landed, crashed with the bird and came to a stop from the roll. He assessed the frightened bird and was relieved it wasn't injured at all, let alone broken its neck through that risky move. And it seemed to be dizzy at the moment. The other two birds from earlier quickly neared him, stopping from their run and stretched their necks as if to show their superiority in this race they've won. He grabbed an extra rope and tied his fifth one with the two before patting the two chocobos who helped him this time. And just then, another chocobo appeared, jumping from the hedges, and behind it, a hunter…. the kid from before. Kite, was it? |

Kite couldn't help but sigh in annoyance when he noticed the Chocobo took off running, trying to avoid being caught and it was at that moment that Kite realized that this was the Chocobo that had eluded him earlier in the day. Kite was more determined then he had been all day and he wasn't about to let himself lose to some flightless birds. " There is no way I'm gonna let some bird stand in the way of me and my mission!" Kite said as he raced towards the fleeing chocobo. Kite followed the chocobo as it followed the dirt road and started to catch up to it until it decided that it wanted to go off roading and veer off course and travel through the woods. The chocobo weaved in and out between trees trying to make Kite lose sight of it, he was impressed with how smart this chocobo was being but too bad that this chocobo had already pissed Kite off earlier and now he was focused on catching it. Every time the chocobo would zig he would zag trying to thing two moves ahead and it was working and was getting closer and closer which meant it was only a matter of time. The free chocobo started to pick up speed and Kite was beginning to lose it. " crap not good, but that is what happens when we are dragging three other chocobos with us... we are gonna! Kite stopped when he saw the chocobo stop dead in it's tracks for some reason which gave Kite a great opportunity. While still running Kite stood up on the Chocobo's back and right as they got closer Kite jumped off and landed on his final Chocobo's back and wraps the rope around it's beak. " got it!" he says and then looks up to see that he wasn't alone and that the man from earlier was there. " hello!" he said waving his hand. |
