It had been a while since Maya had received one of those easy going missions, and although she never really enjoyed doing grunt work, doing something like this after the war was rather refreshing. Her rank was not going to give her anything better any time soon, and this was the only way to go up the next one. Besides, it's not like catching some birds would be that hard.

Maya arrived to the village early in the morning, she was wearing her summer attire. Black tank top, black trousers, belt and her trusty red cloak, plus, Crimson Reaper. Maya did not think she would need a weapon for this, but she never went anywhere without her father designed weapon, and besides, one can never be too careful, not to mention Crimson Reaper had some uses outside combat.

The streets were packed. Merchants, farmers, everyone was walking around. It was surprising to see so many people on the street, going about their business, considering the great majority were elders. Thinking as she had arrived very early in the day, Maya though she would still be able to take a look around town, before going to the talk to the one that requested the job, but seeing as the entire village was already up and running at full steam, that thought quickly vanished from her mind. The village itself was rather impressive, as the wood buildings gave a surprisingly comfortable feel even despite their city like size.

Even so, Maya decided to go to a nearby tavern or Inn, to get some quick breakfast before getting to work. Who knows, she might even find some clues about where she could find the missing birds.

Walking through the town, Shuyin wondered in his excitement about his first mission. It was nothing amazing, just recapturing previously captured birds called Chocobos. He had read about a Chocobo before, they were yellow and ran really fast. Shuyin wore his armor today, an act of training rather than a fashion statement really, his sword at his side his shield on his back.

Throughout the town, the people seemed glad. Though Shuyin wondered how many of them had actually seen a chocobo. Their yellow coats, clawed feet, cute beaks. Just the thought made Shuyin smile. A slight grumble in his stomach alerted Shuyin of his slowly growing hunger.

Heading into the nearby inn, Shuyin stepped in and looked around to find a seat. A girl, a bit small and young looking sat alone. She looked as if she was waiting for someone but currently sat alone. Walking over, Shuyin paused as he realized how awkward this would be.

"Excuse me ms? Are you waiting for someone? If not, may I sit here?"

Maybe she knew something about the missing Chocobo's in the area?

Dodger clambered out of the little forest that was rounding up Tully Village. How long has he been there, no one really knows. He was always just for the journey and he had long stopped bothering about civilisation's innovation on vehicles to bother moving about with people. For him, it was better to hunt in the unknown regions and span distances and find wonders on his own. But this newly found village seemed quite different from what he was expecting. Or perhaps his idea of civilisation in Fiore had been too corrupted by the major cities that the town now seemed like a far-fetched sketch of the country?

He walked out of the bush and nodded and bowed whenever he met an old man or woman. He wasn't really much of the substandard hunter to forget his manners. At least there was a sort of semblance between cultures of Fiore and his Bant, that you still showed respect to your elders whether they be human or not, male or female. And perhaps that was his only saving grace whenever he ventured to the unknown in Fiore, always getting on the good side of the old. That and when he saw a particular old dog by the inn's front porch did he suddenly cling onto it and petted it and stayed that way for a good long time.

Just then, some people began entering the inn and he looked about. One of them, as he caught, was wearing some flashy armours, and before her a girl. It wasn't that hard to spot them in that village seeing how most of the inhabitants were… old people. And just then, he spotted a middle-aged fellow moving about the street mumbling to himself. He read his lips: something about missing chocobos.

"Chocobos," he repeated before looking at the large dog in question but the dog wouldn't answer. "Something edible?" the dog refused still. "Treasure?" the dog yawned.

And it would appear as though nothing would be done right unless he looked for other sources. But as soon as he looked back, the man was gone and his only trace to this weird chocobo had vanished as well. He gave the dog one last pat, saying it was lazy, before he entered the inn to find some clues. Quite straightforward to be in fact for as soon as he stepped foot inside, making his presence known to everyone he said, with a loud voice, "What's a chocobo?"

Maya looked for anywhere she could eat, and it did not take her long to find a Inn. It looked much like any other small town Inn she had been before, although this one looked almost inconspicuous, as most of the buildings in the town looked exactly the same. Thank god for the sign hanged over the door, otherwise, Maya could have completely missed it.

Entering the Inn, Maya quickly made her way past the reception and into the 'restaurant' area. It was a small thing, much like she expected to see on any other Inn. Simple, nearly empty and cozy, just like Maya liked. Sitting on an empty table, Maya made an order. A simple bread, some scrambled eggs, and a glass of milk. A good breakfast just the way she enjoyed it.

Maya was thinking about the chocobo catching mission. She did not expect it to be hard, but if she was alone in it, there is no doubt it would take a long time to catch them all. As she was thinking this, some guy came out of nowhere, and asked to sit on her table, amongst other things. It was not the first time Maya had seen herself in this situation, and it was never pleasant. However, she was a different person from the other times... well a little different, otherwise she would have just found a way to make the man change ideas about the sitting part. Also, there was something different on this man. So Maya decided to satisfy her curiosity.

"Sure thing. Just be sure to order for yourself. I don't give my food away."

Well, there was still some of her old self in her. Regardless, as the man sat, and before he was able to say anything else, some other guy storms into the Inn and asks about chocobos. If his entry did not get Maya's attention, the word chocobo surely did, since that meant he could be possibly doing the same mission as her.

Shuyin paused as a man entered the inn exclaiming at the top of his lungs asking what a chocobo was. It was immediately quiet afterwards though Shuyin thought fast. Was it strange that just as Shuyin was looking for information on that exact animal, another person appeared with the same goal? Perhaps another person who took the mission?

"Sir! Share a table with me for a minute if you have the time. I would like to speak to you."

Hearing the girl already seated answer his question, Shuyin sat expressing his apologies quietly as he assumed the other male was making his way over to the table. A server, female in gender, quickly appeared with a notebook.

"Sir? Would you like to order?"

"Just some water for now please."

The lady smiled and nodded, writing it down and leaving as soon as she appeared.

Shuyin speak to the girl while waiting for the boy to come over and join the small growing group.

"This may be strange, but I am on a mission to find a few missing chocobo's.. have you heard anything about some of them running around?"

Was it strange that 3 of the mission takers all showed up at the same point at the same time? Or was this some sort of divine show aiding the lost and helpless on their mission to aid another? Either way, their meeting was evident as the mission would require teamwork above all else.

Dodger waited for a moment to reconsider his options. He simply have entered the room without knowing and spoken out of the blue. Aside from it, there was nothing much surreal about the moment. Maybe aside from working against instincts and just going with the flow. He shouldn't have eavesdropped from earlier and jumped into conclusion, even if it meant it was some strange spices he could have as an experimental delicacy later. Wait, who even said they were cooked? As far as he was concerned, this so-called chocobos were probably pets of the sort of the townspeople were trying so hard to get them back. Like good old masters loving their good old pets.

Just then, he picked up the words of the guy in armour by the table and he was tempted to raise a brow when he was referred to as "sir". He smirked and then walked towards them, nodding and taking a seat. It was strange indeed to be with complete strangers so fast as if it were a planned reunion or something. He then read the man's words just to make sure he was in the correct place. But little did he know that he would not get the answers he sought for… at least, directly. So perhaps joining this so-called mission would help him in this answer.

"Mission?" he repeated before looking around and slumping against his chair, "I did learn that they are missing from their rightful places and could perhaps have gone to the branching forests where I came from." He said in a matter-of-fact tone before straightening up as soon as a waitress appeared and served their orders. He wasn't sure what to make of the server girl since just as rumours said, the whole town was quite old, in the literal sense, and so the even the server girl seemed past her primes. He really felt he ought to help her, but he decided against it. He knew better than to conform with the strange Fiorean behaviour of some sort of age and gender discrimination. After all, back in Bant, he wouldn't have thought so otherwise.

Then, he asked, "Well, if you're intent of finding them, shouldn't we go?"

Maya was just trying to get something to eat quietly, and now she was sharing a table with two other people she did not know for no reason whatsoever. At least one of them seemed to be taking part of the same mission as her. However, she was surprised to find that it was not the man that had just arrived, but the one that had sat first who was going to be her partner. She did not allow her surprise to show, as always, and just focused on her food as it arrived, almost at the same time as the new arrival took a seat.

"It's not strange at all.", said Maya indifferently as she took a sip of milk, "Since I am also here for that same reason."

The newcomer then tried to enquire about the mission. To which Maya replied.

"Yes, that is correct. Some Chocobo have escaped and their owner as asked for help on their recapture. They seem to be rather fast, and normal people would be be able to keep up with them. Hence why I am here."

Maya took some bites at the bread and scrambled eggs, she did not have any hurry about her mission, and that's exactly what she told the new guy when he asked to go.

"Calm down. I have no intention of skipping a meal just to go catch some birds. Besides, I do not believe they will get more lost than what they already are, just because of a few minutes."

And so Maya resumed her meal showing no signs of even wanting to eat it fast.

Shuyin blushed at the way the girl had replied. It had a bit of attitude met with grace and covered in a bit of knowledge that gave the receiver the assumption that she knew more than she was telling. Sitting down with a smile as an awkward attempt to hide his blush, Shuyin almost forgot the man who entered and the fact that he himself had offered him to come over.

His drink came soon enough considering that the server looked well past her 50's. Taking a sip as the girl in front of him slightly explained the situation, Shuyin shook his head at the boy's apparent rush.

"i can't say I agree with rushing off either. Like she said, the birds themselves are very fast. We have no hope of catching them if we ourselves are not in our best shape. Best to sit down and go when we are well and ready, though a problem I am caught between is, do we wait until dark to catch them while they sleep and spend the day gathering information? Or do we search during the day when the sun is high and bright?"

Taking a long drink from his glass, Shuyin would stare past the girl's head, thinking though to her it would seem as if he was looking at her. Not that it would not be a pretty decent sight or anything.

"Have a seat sir. And enjoy in a drink. Perhaps share your name? Mine is Shuyin."

Dodger gave the two a long stare before he took his place on a chair and sat by them. He read their words trying to find information and it would seem as though it would not be an easy job after all. They made a point, performance depending on physical preparedness and intelligence, but he was a hunter, born to brave the extremes of human conditions and fend off wild creatures far larger than him with tusks and horns and fangs. He wasn't exactly that much threatened by a couple of birds, even if they were big. Yet, he found no way of arguing with them. Best not to get on their bad side when he needed the information to settle the job.

Still he was quiet as he could be. He merely sat and watched them converse. He watch the servers arrive with the rounds of drinks. He didn't order just yet and he wasn't exactly planning to. He had a bit of a problem after all. But there wasn't time for that. If needed nourishment, he could always hunt. If he needed water, a spring. And alcohol… he wasn't much of a drinker anyway. So he really found no need of either at the moment. And he shrugged. He keeps forgetting he wasn't in Bant anymore and perhaps people around here had other priorities. Best keep to the customs.

"Dodger," he said briefly when the other introduced himself before he looked at the girl at the other end of the table, "This would be the second time I find myself meeting a girl. The first time I see one eating like that." he was talking about her graceful movements, "But behind the fragile facade, there's bound to be something."

He leaned back to the chair and seemed to have relaxed for a bit, though to be honest, he was never one to put down his guard. Instead, it seemed more convenient for him if he soever decided to look around between people and catch their lips. Was pretty easier than having to lurch or lean or moving his head from side to side. As always, information was always what he needed first.

"Southern. Small. Old. Peaceful. Close-cut ties," he may seem to be randomly spouting words before, "Perpetrator might have been an outsider. No local would open a penthouse just for fun or pranks. Else there's a young blood here who likes to see a bit of chaos in this ordinary town." He shrugged again before looking back at the table. He could never get used to such a luxury in time.

OOC: So there is not going to be any extra mage joinning in, since Dodger will possibly be in a guild before the end of the thread.
Maya tried to focus on her meal, but she kept listening to whatever was said on the table. The first man seemed to agree with her, about the absence of the necessity to rush after the chocobos, then he invited the other to sit once again, and introduced himself. Shuyin was his name, and he at least sounded like a dependable guy, although that hardly meant much to Maya, since even tho she now tries to trust others more, it is still hard for her to expect much from others she has yet to know.

The other one quickly identified himself as Dodger. Maya felt there was something off with Dodger, like he was focusing on something else other that what other people were saying to him, as he did not seem to make eye contact, unless he is talking himself. But since he was actually answering to what people asked of him, and even introduced himself right after Shuyin, Maya shrugged that feeling aside, after all, Maya was not the most accurate person when reading other people, and she knew that.

"I'm Maya.", feeling no need to lie about it and ignoring Dodger's remarks about her, "The thing about the chocobos, is that there is a mage that was supposed to take the job sometime ago. I was sent here because the chocobos are still loose and their caretaker is getting impatient.", Maya paused to take a sip at her glass of milk, then she added, "After all, it a knight's duty to help the citizens. If you want to help as well, there is bound to be a reward at the end."

Maya worked on finishing her meal while the others talked, or not, so that she could get on her way. She noticed, most of the other people in the Inn were taking notice of the strange group, but she did not think much about the matter, as it was likely that that curiosity was caused by Dodger's entrance. And even if it wasn't, Maya was adamant about ignoring this kind of reactions unless there was a threat involved.
