Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Marcus left the Fashionist to his own devices. After all, the knight had no intention of socializing with the criminal. Even if he had stopped the privates from beating him to a pulp, it wasn't like he felt sympathy for him or anything, as far as Marcus was concerned, he was a lowlife of society; something it could do without. But that being said, he was still a human, and at the very least, deserving to be treated as one. Was it an idealist, dewy-eyed view of the world? Yes, yes it was. But it was Marcus' view nonetheless.

He opened the room and entered the room where Ecclair was, finding her standing with a large unit of knights, all of them ready to move out. Marcus stood to the side as he listened to the briefing. It would be a standard, covert operation, the type of work that Marcus was quite used to. They would quickly enter the building, utilizing the cover of darkness and the element of surprise and seal down the building, taking everyone inside under arrest. There were a few variables, like how the size of their force and how they weren't sure how useful these reinforcements were in the first place, but granted that nothing went horribly long, the operation should proceed smoothly.

They moved quickly in the night, reaching the building that would be the stage for their raid. It was an old abandoned warehouse. Marcus stood next to the Sergeant, rifle armed and aimed into the windows of the building ready to pick off anyone who would raise an alarm. They had to keep this as silent as possible for as long as possible.

Marcus snickered as Ecclair ordered the attack, no doubt the work of Juto again. He was beginning to really like the guy. He managed to hide his smile from Ecclair, he didn't want her to make good on her silent threat.

He moved forward and stood in front of a unit they brought with them. The signal came in, a window in the building blew up in a shower of sparks and fire. Immediately, the warehouse went up in chaos, voices began to yelling and people could be heard running about in the building.

"Move out!" Marcus ordered.

The knights moved forward immediately, they approached the door but Marcus kept them aside. He knew that it was locked tight so he figured it best for him to remove it entirely. He raised his hand and using the Talos Suit, he blast it with his concussive blast. The beam destroyed the door, blowing it off it's hinges and to the ground. Marcus stepped over the door into the room.

No one was there to meet them. The knights filed in after Marcus, so he continued into the next room. He found two men standing over a table with papers scattered all over it. Marcus shoot them both in the chest before they could react to his arrival. He aimed them to knock them out rather than kill, so the men would stay out of commission as they proceeded.

With the threat cleared, Marcus checked the paperwork that was laid out on the table. It was a record of all their operations and the members they had. No doubt after they realized that their work was compromised, they gathered the information to hide or destroy. It was lucky that Marcus had arrived when he did, this information would be invaluable in finding out how deeply entrenched this poaching ring was and any affiliates they might've had.

"Secure these documents," Marcus said to the knights that appeared behind them. "They're important."

Regardless of how stupid the code words had been they did their job and within seconds of the phrase being uttered by Ecclair the warehouse burst with commotion. Voices called out and the sounds of panic filled the air as the warehouse suffered from an explosion large enough to rock its foundations and send a few windows hurtling from their frames in shards. During the chaos of the whole thing the knights infiltrated the building keeping their lines and formation in tact so as not to allow any gaps for people to escape. Marcus went one way and found himself in a room where it seemed all paperwork and other documents were being collected, likely for disposal or transport to somewhere safer. Ecclair on the other hand had noticed some suspicious movement from several men and trusting her gut she'd darted off after them in the chaos.

It was thanks to the men that had fled to ensure the safety of their boss that the Valkyrie of Bellum stood with her eyes set squarely on her primary target; The Mad Hatter. He was looking less like the Mad Hatter from that famous tale for children and more like the white rabbit stuck in headlights as he froze and looked at her armour clad form though. "Ah, Shit! Who the hell led her here?!....Tch, no matter, just get rid of her!" Either the man didn't know just who he had ordered his men take care of or he had sorely underestimated her, either way Ecclair felt irritation as she remembered what had been said to her at the beginning of this entire operation. 'They need them all alive' It was really all she could remind herself as the group of men came charging towards her but it was enough, if it was for duty then she could overlook them trying to kill her..... or at least enough not to kill them for it.

The first wave of men came at staggered intervals, the first came at her from the left hand side while the second which would arrive but seconds after was from her front. Armed with a dagger each the men did seem as though they were trained or at least enough to have been a dangerous enemy for most they'd come across, unfortunately odds were that even if she stood dead still and let them hit her that their blades would break against her armour. While it would have been interesting to actually see if that was the case Ecclair opted not to do so and simply show them the folly of their actions. To those that were watching things went from cold to hot in the flash of an instant as Ecclair seemed to explode into a series of rapid movements that many wouldn't even be able to keep up with accurately.

Ecclair lashed out with shield striking the first man at her side square in the jaw, sadly she had to hold back her strength for the fear of killing the man but the blow was still enough to send him hurtling backwards several metres and to knock him out cold before he hit the ground. The second man saw his friends fate but it was too late, he had already begun to swing his weapon horizontally, surely she couldn't defend from them all so rapidly! Just as a smirk graced his face the man went ghost white, his weapon had been stopped with ease as he felt the fist that was holding it being crushed. His glance revealed that Ecclair had actually caught his fist within her own and within an instant sickening crunches sounded out through the air only to be drowned out by the pained screams and gasps of the man suffering them.

Terrified out of his mind at the display of speed and strength the last of the first wave of men stopped his advance and dropped to the ground before crawling his way backwards and trembling, it was a shameful display and one that made Ecclair feel a rare sense of disgust but luckily for him he backed into another knight that would save him from being 'dealt with'. Being arrested had to be better than whatever she'd do to him right? It was with that notion in mind that he practically begged to be arrested and taken away and all the others that saw the fight started to follow suit by throwing themselves at the nearest knight. The Mad Hatter was terrified just the same and standing frozen with wide eyes he looked straight into Ecclair's aqua eyes.

"Keep them tied up firmly and watch them." Marcus ordered. "We don't want anyone escaping and causing trouble."

Marcus paced the row of tied up men in front of him. All of them had their hands bound by rope and were forced to sit against a wall. They looked up at Marcus with fearful eyes as he glared at each and every one of them. He was looking for the Mad Hatter, the most important catch in this trawl. But he seemed to be missing, or at least Marcus guessed he was. Then again, now that he thought about it, Ecclair was missing as well.

"Anyone seen Sergeant Bellum?" Marcus asked.

"She went on ahead with a few other men."

"Alright then, I'll go check it out. Keep an eye on the prisoners."

The private saluted as Marcus left the room and went in further, his spear held to his side as he went from one room to the next, looking for Ecclair. He was pretty sure that she could handle herself, but he needed to make sure that nobody managed to sneak away while she was preoccupied. The sound of fighting and raised voice led Marcus to a room with a few injured men on the ground, the others had thrown themselves at a nearby knight, begging to be taken into custody. One man looked like he had some semblance of authority, even if it was diluted by his pitiful display of cowardice.

"I see you've handled things here, Sergeant." Marcus said.

Marcus walked over to the shivering form of the Mad Hatter. "You're the Mad Hatter, am I right?"

The man hesitated, then nodded quickly.

"Well then," Marcus grabbed him by the shoulder and hefted him to his feet. He grabbed his hands and put them behind his back, bounding them with handcuffs. "Your charge list is so impressive, I won't even bother mentioning it." Marcus said as he tied him up. "So let's just say you're under arrest. We have your friend, you can keep him company."

With the Mad Hatter taken into custody, Marcus looked at Ecclair.

"We managed to arrest the rest of the grunts out front." He said to her. "They should be ready to be taken out."

The Mad Hatter was too terrified to form words as he stared into Ecclair's cold aqua eyes and yet even without opening his mouth he was telling her exactly what he was thinking. No, he was telling her even more than just what he was thinking, he was telling her what he was feeling as well. His terror was so evident that no one would have missed it and yet as she looked to his face that was contorted in one of fear and disgust the knight could tell what he thought of her, she was a monster let alone of a woman. The display she'd just put on was one so chilling that those that set eyes on it were begging to be arrested and protected from her, you might have thought that it would leave a satisfied or even perhaps a proud feeling behind for her but in all honesty she was numb to it all. She did what she had to do and as always chose to overlook whatever others thought or felt towards her because of it, such emotions were unnecessary and only lead to weaknesses. It was as she stared into the Mad Hatters expression that a distinct memory from her childhood started to surface and with everything now melding together as background noise the woman stood ignorant to it all. It was the memory of a time that her skill in battle earned her shocked and disgusted remarks from those that had witnessed it, 'what kind of princess fought like that?!', 'what kind of woman fought like that?!', 'disgusting! and disgraceful!'.

The familiar voice that spoke up to the Mad Hatter drew his gaze from Ecclair's own and with the eyes that were causing her to remember such things no longer looking into her own the knight found herself snapping back to attention. The eyes that had looked at her that day were the same as the ones that she'd just been shown, ugh whatever she didn't care anymore. She was who she was and that was that, she cared not for thoughts of those against her.

Ecclair kept her gaze at the wall where the Mad Hatter had been cowering as she spoke, "Very well." If Marcus was keen to things he may have been able to pick up on the fact that something was slightly amiss with the Lieutenant, what it was though would of course remain a mystery that only she knew the answer to. Ecclair turned on her heels to walk towards the exit of the building without another word, everything was under control and there was no longer the need for her to be there. Unfortunately if she had been hoping for a silent slip away she was sadly disappointed as Juto's face appeared in the middle of the front door with kitten in hand. "Looks like this wraps everything up, time to go back to the tavern and celebrate wouldn't you say so Clair-bear?" Juto smiled as he looked to the woman before him, he could tell instantly that something was bothering her and while he knew she'd be uninterested in drinking or the like he never felt it was useless to at least try. He was in charge of the operation anyway and if he said they had to go back to the tavern in order to debrief or something then he knew he could force Ecclair to go, hopefully though she would just accept what he'd offered and not make him resort to that.

"I will meet you and Corporal Faldin there then." Those were the last words she spoke before disappearing into the night, would she actually turn up though? There was doubt lingering in Juto's mind however he trusted her well enough to know that if she said she would meet them there then she would do just that. It was likely she wasn't doing too well with the noise and crowd around her and sought out a silent place, what would have been bothering her though? It was time for some snooping Yamagami style.

While the knights continued to search the building and all those that were captured were taken to their cells elsewhere Juto, Ecclair and Marcus would find themselves back at the tavern with a few other knights of similar rank. It was a casual celebratory drink and no one was going to let themselves get drunk of course but it didn't mean that you couldn't get tipsy and enjoy yourself, a lot of work had gone into the operation behind the scenes and so it was deserved all round. Ecclair was yet to arrive as the first hour passed by but the clock neared ten pm her figure emerged in the doorway, "Ah! There she is, almost thought you weren't going to show up there." Juto greeted her with a wave from the large table he sat at with the other knights, "You're just in time for the arm wrestling contest."

Marcus hadn't known Ecclair for very long, so he wasn't like he knew her inside out, however he could still sense that something was amiss, even if he caught only the vaguest hint of it. Something was troubling the Sergeant, but if it was of any significance, she made no hint of it, nor any mention. As such, Marcus deemed it something that he shouldn't concern himself with. He wasn't the kind to butt into other people's business, nor was Ecclair the type to confide in others. Marcus just shut his mouth and continued his business.

As he escorted the Mad Hatter away, Ecclair left, leaving him to secure the area. Marcus made sure that all the prisoners were counted and accounted for, then he had them taken to prison. The Mad Hatter was taken under special custody for him to be questioned. As for the documents, they were personally collected and safely stored for future resource.

With the work finished, Marcus returned to the tavern where the higher ranking knights were celebrating a job well done. This had been a relatively large operation and the work they finished here was substantial to say the least. It was well worth the celebration, and besides, Marcus needed the chance to unwind.

Marcus sat on a table with some other knights, quietly drinking some juice. After all that happened concerning him and booze, Marcus swore off it for a long while. He sat, sipping his drink as he watched everyone chat and congratulate themselves. Ecclair was absent from the festivities, having disappeared right after the raid, he remembered how she was acting and wondered what had to happened to put her in that state.

Not long after, Ecclair showed up. Juto greeted her enthusiastically, while Marcus simply nodded at her politely. Meanwhile, an arm wrestling contest was starting. A few of the others offered Marcus to join in, but he refused, perfectly content with sitting quietly and watching the goings on.

An arm wrestling contest? Hmm, perhaps that would let her work out some of her frustrations.

Ecclair was silent as she entered the building despite the greetings she received from her fellow knights, she acknowledged them however she was far from in the mood to respond. News of the arm wrestling contest she was in time for though had her interest piqued. Normally the woman would have simply steered away from such a pointless act, with pent up frustration and the desire to see just how much of a monster she really was building up within her however she couldn't help but wonder if perhaps it would be worth participating , at least this one time anyway. Unbeknownst to Ecclair Juto knew full well that she'd take him up on the offer he played out before her, he had his ways and it was through them that he knew exactly what was bothering her. If he could show her that she wasn't as big of a monster as she thought she was then he would be able to rest easy, the thing was... could he actually manage it? There was the fact that Ecclair had proven herself to be able to beat him as of late to consider and the consequences of him losing would only prove to bother the woman more. No, he wouldn't lose. Not when there was something so precious to him on the line.

"How about you and I kick this thing off to a start?" Juto said with his arm in position upon the table in front of him, "Let's show these guys how it's done." If he was offering so earnestly and desired to be her opponent then Ecclair had no qualms with it, in fact, he might have been the only one there that would pose her any challenge anyway. "Very well." Ecclair sat down at the table across from Juto and after placing her hand in his own and looking him dead in the eyes the woman readied her grip. Little did she know that for Juto just the touch of her elegant and supple hand to his own was enough to make him lose focus momentarily, don't worry though he regained it when he remembered what was at stake.

The arm wrestling match was counted down by a rather gruff looking man standing at the side of the table and upon the countdown finishing the amount of strength and sheer power both exerted could almost be felt throughout the room. Neither participant seemed to budge the other in the slightest however the strain between the two hands/arms was evident while their faces showed no signs of the struggle they were in. For most in the room it was surprising and amazing that a woman of Ecclair appearance was even keeping Juto at bay let alone matching him and murmurs soon erupted. They might have doubted if the man was putting in his all but both of the participants knew the truth, perhaps so too did some that were watching.

For Ecclair the arm wrestle was showing her something other than that Juto and herself were evenly matched in power. It was showing her that if she deemed herself a monster than she had to deem him one as well and for some reason as much as she looked into his emerald eyes she simply couldn't bring herself to do it. The battle of seemingly never budging strength went on for several minutes before the crowd started to simply declare it a draw while exclaiming that the lack of a winner was disappointing, little did they know the truth of what had gone on.

As their hands separated Juto stretched his muscles and rolled his wrist instinctively, "Geesh, you almost had me there. Guess I better stop messing around and get back to training, wouldn't want you to beat me now would I Clair-Bear." He chuckled as the other knights started to set up for their own individual matches.

Marcus sipped his drink as he watched the proceedings. Ecclair and Juto had a harmless (or at least it seemed that way...) rivalry going on, one that manifested itself in the form of an arm wrestling match.

The knight was particularly interested in this. Ecclair was well known for her strength, Marcus has even witnessed it firsthand. Juto, however, was less obvious, he didn't know how strong he was, but seeing as he had reached the rank of Lieutenant, his strength would be quite considerable.

He watched the two pit their strength against one another, both seeming to put their all in the match, but neither one of them budged. Marcus' narrowed as he watched the two, they were definitely using all their strength, but something else seemed to be on their minds, like their intentions were something more than a simple contest of strength. How odd.

Still, the results were impressive to say the least, most notably Juto. The carefree Lieutenant was clearly more than met the eye. His attitude belied great strength, strong enough to stand on even footing with Ecclair, maybe even possibly exceed her. It was apparent that in terms of The Dauntless Vanguard, Marcus had a long way to go before he could stand on equal footing. The thought of that both enticed and depressed him.

"Hey Peacemaker, arm wrestle me." One knight said across the table. "Show me the strength that got you into the Vanguard."

Marcus put down his drink and shook his head. "Mere strength never got me anywhere." He replied. "So I'll have to politely refuse your offer."

The knight frowned, "Come now, Marcus. Just a small match, for fun."

Marcus paused for a moment, than figuring that there was no way out of it, Marcus shrugged and propped his hand up. The other knight grinned, and propped his hand up as well, locking it together with Marcus'.

"One, two, three."

The two began to apply pressure against the other. It was close, both of them seemed evenly matched, but slowly and surely, Marcus began to overcome his opponent. He grit his teeth and put more strength into his efforts, grunting quietly as he pushed. The other knight bared his teeth, veins bulging on his arm as he struggled against Marcus. His efforts were for naught, after another few seconds of struggle, Marcus managed to press his hand against the table. The two knights unclasped each others hands. The other knight rubbed his wrist as he eyed Marcus.

"Your reputation is well-deserved."

Marcus nodded graciously. "You're not exactly a push-over either."

Marcus returned to his drink, though now he felt a little impatient, he wasn't one to party much, his form of celebration was simply returning home. As a matter of fact, he was wondering how long must he be stuck in this event. He was kind of hoping that matters could be wrapped up quickly so he could be on his way.

As the conversation amongst those in the tavern started to dry up and the alcohol ingestion increased a messenger arrived bringing them the news that everyone had been waiting for. From the streets outside where it had apparently started to rain without anyone noticing the young Private burst into the doors of the building before keeping everyone waiting in suspense for several moments due to being out of breath. "We found out where another base is from the documentation recovered during the last raid and since all objectives have been fulfilled we are being given the mission complete!" It was evident that the Private standing before everyone couldn't have been happier with the news he'd been asked to deliver them and while they might have had a guess as to why it was unlikely that anyone knew exactly. For this young man the mission he'd been assigned to had been his very first one. Sure, he hadn't done much but given how new he was to the knights but he had been a part of it all and it had been a success! That was something good for his portfolio man!

Juto was the first to stand from his seat and as he did so he lifted his drink in the air and addressed his fellow knights for he had been in charge of it all and he felt it only right he did so. "Alright that's what we want to hear! Good work knights, celebrate your job well done and remember that you have tomorrow off! I don't want to see this party over until the sun comes up you hear me!" He said with a motion of a toast to the air. Of course he knew that the party would end before the sun came up, heck some of the guys were almost at the point of passing out as it was. A little bit of cheer never went wrong in a situation like they were in and so regardless of whether they could actually do it everyone gave a mighty roar of celebration.

Lo and behold, just as Marcus was thinking about his willingness to leave, a Private bursts into the room, out of breath, proclaiming that the mission has been officially declared a success. Marcus breathed a small sigh of relief into his mug, masking his happiness that everything was finished. This had been a long mission, one that meant a lot for him, it was his first mission as an official member of the Vanguard and as a Corporal. Needless to say, a lot had been riding on him to complete this job and do it well.

As Juto got up to congratulate everyone on a job well done, Marcus raised his cup and cheered along with everyone else, even if only for the sake of morale. Sure Marcus never did 'party hard' but that doesn't mean he's a buzzkill. He didn't even have to kill the mood anyway, most of the knights were pretty much burnt out at this point, whether as a result of alcohol or mere tiredness.

Marcus continued to drink from his mug silently and engaging casual conversation with some other knights as he waited for the right moment to make his departure. After a while, the party really started to wind down, people were getting very drunk and those who weren't slurring drinking songs at the top of their lungs were beginning to doze off.

It was at this point that Marcus put his pint on the table and got up.

"It's been a pleasure, Lieutenant Yamagami and Sergeant Farron." He said as hefted his gear. "But I think I'll be going on my way."

He saluted the two knights. "I hope we see each other sooner rather than later." He added.

With that, he turned and made his way to the door of the tavern, closing it behind him as he made for the train station and starting his trip back to Chrysanthemum.

One by one after Marcus left the tavern his fellow knights started to bow out for their own various reasons and as the clock struck three in the morning there were only three figures still within its walls and one was by far smaller than the other two. Unaware that she'd been roped into staying at the bar with Juto far past the time she was planned Ecclair sat at one of its tables with the kitten sleeping soundly on the table in front of her. The sounds of Juto behind the bar fixing her another strawberry sundae and the sound of the light purrs of the kitten were the only sounds, some could have said it was awkward but to be frank it was kind of relaxing for the knights involved. While Ecclair was content to sit and watch the kitten slumber Juto found his mind busy with thoughts on how best to spend the one on one time he'd finally gotten with her. Should he simply let it go by and enjoy it as it was or should he try something brazen and see what came of it? Alright, perhaps the alcohol in his system was a factor in this way of thinking but it wasn't like he hadn't thought of it before.

With the strawberry sundae in hand made just as how Ecclair liked them Juto walked to the table she sat at, "Here you go Princess." He said with a wink as he placed it down just within her reach. He was hoping that the unsual use of her title in Bellum might throw her off guard and get her to lower her defences ever so slightly, then again did she really ever have them raised too highly against him anyway and did she ever need them high to fend him off in the end? Ecclair found the use of her title to be awkward and because of it she kept her gaze on the kitten in front of her as she reached out to grasp the glass of sundae in front of her. Ceasing the opportunity the knight across the table from her reached out his hand and grasped a hold of hers forcefully and with all his strength he pulled her forwards while leaning in himself......
