Marcus sniffed the air, the tunnel was thick with the scent of mold, it filled his nostrils and stifled him. He almost sneezed, but he managed to catch himself just in time. He didn't want to alert anyone to his presence. He was almost in complete darkness, the only light anywhere around him came from the hole that he had fallen through. The light fell through the hole and illuminated some of the tunnel. The biggest blessing was that Marcus knew how to get back if he had to, seeing as the light indicated where he came. Otherwise, Marcus feared he would've been lost without it. The place also showed signs of disuse; the lack of lighting, the smell of mold, and general lack of structuring for the tunnel meant that this place would most likely turn out to be a dead end.

Marcus turned to the sound of his superior officer. "hm, and here I was thinking this would a dead end." Marcus mused. "Fair enough, let's find our quarry and clear out, this tunnel is beginning to get on my nerves."

The two didn't travel very far before they found definitive evidence for Ecclair's belief. They found the end of the tunnel boarded up and sealed. The state of the wood suggested that it was new, which meant that whoever boarded up the tunnel had done so recently. It wouldn't be so hard to destroy the boards, but they had the element of surprise, and Marcus knew it would be better to not waste it to simply remove a couple of wooden boards. He could pry them out by hand, by they were boarded to close together, Marcus wouldn't be able to find any handholds.

Luckily, Ecclair had her sword, and with some deft motions, she cut a hole for the two, just big enough for them to squeeze through. Just as the sliced out piece of wood was going to fall forward, Marcus speared it with Iustitia, stopping it from the hitting the ground.

He squeezed through the hole first and pulled the wooden piece off his spear. He waited until Ecclair had come through before he followed the sound of voices and scent of cigarettes. They come from an entrance to their left. So this was where they were hiding.

They had two choices, either storm in to attack them, or lure them out. Marcus wasn't to stoked to jump in with guns blazing, unlike last time where he confronted the bartender, he didn't know what these men where carrying or what they were capable of, the last thing he wanted to do was attack them with no idea of what they can do and fight a cornered mouse.

So the other choice was to lure them out.

Marcus signaled to Ecclair his intentions. He would try to lure them out with a little noise.

Marcus picked up a small rock that was next to his foot and tossed it lightly to the ground, making a small sound. Nothing too huge, just enough to alert someone. The voices stopped.

"There's something there." One of the voices said.

"It's probably a rat or something." Another one replied dismissively.

"I'm not sure... someone go check, just to be sure."

"Alright fine, Udolf, hop to."

The sound of heavy footsteps came closer to the entrance. The man was focused straight ahead as he walked ahead of the two, the darkness and shadows helping mask their presence. The moment Udolf was away from the sight of his comrades, Marcus grabbed him from behind.

Marcus placed a hand on his mouth to stifle his surprised yell as he caught him in a headlock, he struggled silently against Marcus but eventually, the lack of oxygen knocked him out cold. He placed him aside as he went back to listen to the entrance.

"What's taking that oaf so long?" One of the voices grumbled.

"I don't know," Said the other. "You want to check?"

"I-... Well someone needs to."

"Let's flip a coin."

Marcus gave Ecclair a knowing look. If they were debating over who would go check with a flip of a coin, than that meant one thing.

The plan at hand was to lure people out one by one so that they could be removed from play like pieces on a chess board. With a small stone conveniently nearby Marcus made the first move which by all measures was successful. One man had been elected to check out the source of the sound and when he did he was taken by surprise and dealt with swiftly, it became painfully obvious that the men in the room weren't trained to deal with these kinds of situations for if they had been they wouldn't have made such a mistake. Ecclair listened carefully to the voices from the room as she waited just around the edge of the entrance, so there was only two more in the room and they were going to be flipping a coin to see who had to check outside? There was their second mistake.

With her keen senses Ecclair heard the sound of the coin being flicked up into the air and with reflexes and speed unrivalled by anyone in the area she stepped out and into the open of the entranceway. With her weapon in its firearm form she took aim as she moved and without hesitation a shot rang throughout the air, the bullet hit the tiny coin that had been flicked into the air and as it did everyone in the room frozen with fear and surprise. "Wh-what?!" the voice of the man that had been doing most of the talking was staggered but he wasn't the only one. "H-How the hell did you-" How the hell had she hit that coin like that and where the hell had she come from?!

By firing at the coin Ecclair effectively rendered her enemies unable to move, if she could hit a tiny coin that was in mid air like that then there was no way she'd miss should they have tried anything. With their jaws clenched and faces angered they could do little more than sit and glare at the intruders, "So you must be the ones that set off the alarm upstairs. Persistent aren't you, not many would keep going and find us down here." Dressed in strange clothes that were obviously made from various animals it was obvious that the man speaking to them was the one they were after, he was the Fashionista they were to take in. "I've been told that before."

Ecclair slowly took steps into the room and as she did she was sure to glance around at their surroundings to make sure there was nobody hiding, with the coast clear she reached her hand that hand held the tiny kitten out to Marcus gently. She had something to do and she wasn't going to be able to do it while holding the kitten, hopefully the man wasn't allergic to them or anything. After the kitten had been taken from her grasp the knight would approach the two men that were at the desk, the closer she got the more panic would show on their faces especially the one that had to be the lower rank.

Ecclair stood right before the grunt and after a moment of simply staring at him she lashed out with a punch to his abdomen that knocked him out faster than anyone could have blinked. At the display of speed and strength the Fashionista could only cackle and clap, "Wow wow, just who did they send after me. You sure are something."

In any other situation, Marcus would've protested at simply stepping out to confront the enemy, even with one grunt down, he didn't know what the grunts had in store. Marcus would've preferred a more surgical approach. As it was, the fact that it was the Valkyrie of Bellum who was charging silenced his concerns, Marcus was pretty sure there was nothing in that room that could endanger Ecclair.

He watched with amusement as she stepped out and shot the flipping coin, stunning the two men in disbelief. Marcus stepped out behind her, rifle aimed square at their faces, sure he wasn't as dramatic looking as Ecclair, but then again, he really couldn't compare to her.

An edge of Marcus' lip curled into a small smile at the mention of their persistence. He took it as a compliment; sometimes when it comes to hunting down criminals, your success is measured by how much of a pain in the ass you are to them. In this case, Marcus would call the two of them successful.

Ecclair looked around and then held out the small kitten to Marcus. The knight blinked twice before he realized that she wanted him to hold the kitten for her. Shifting Iustitia in his hands, Marcus reached out with his free hand and took the kitten Ecclair. The kitten mewed innocently at Marcus who could stop himself from cooing to it. It was so cute, it didn't matter how tough and strong he was, Marcus couldn't help himself when it came to these things. The poor kitten was just about as big as Mika, so he gently placed it on his shoulder where it settled right behind the shoulder pad, making a safe spot for it perch.

Marcus returned his attention to Ecclair as she punched the last grunt straight in gut. He winced inwardly at the blow, he couldn't help but imagine himself in the grunt's place. He made a silent promise to never anger Ecclair. The Fashionista on the other hand was a bit more enthusiastic about the display of power.

Marcus pointed his rifle at the criminal's face.

"That, would be The Valkyrie of Bellum." Marcus answered. "Now, come quietly."

The Fashionista gave the two a quick glance. "Not much of a choice here, huh?" he said. "Either I get punched in the gut or shot in the face."

Marcus shrugged slightly. "Pretty much."

The Fashionista flashed a cocky grin. "Alright, I surrender."

With that, the man walked forward, hands raised in front of the two knights, leading the way with Marcus' rifle pointed at his back.

"Oh and by the way, I really love the whole good cop bad cop thing you guys have going on here, you never see that these days."

Marcus sighed wearily; why'd they end up with the smartmouth as the master villain?

With ease Ecclair hoisted the now unconscious body of the lesser goon over her shoulder, why had she knocked him out you might ask? Well you see with him around the main fry was less likely to spill the information that she wanted to get from him on their walk upstairs. It was easier to knock the guy out and prevent him from knowing that his leader had ratted on them and their organisation. With that said there was still the whole issue regarding how to get the guy to tell them what they wanted, for now Ecclair was going to rely simply on the threat of harm to get the job done. If that didn't work? Well let's just say she wasn't afraid to follow through on her threats.

"If you are going to talk I suggest you make it worth our while to hear." As cold as always Ecclair said in retort to the man's chosen topic of conversation. Walking along in front of the man Ecclair made sure that she acted as a wall for him to have to try and pass by in the event of an attempted escape. She wasn't too sure just how accurate Marcus was with his own fire arm nor was she on this guys speed or other tactical abilities, it was best not to let him get the opportunity to make a break for it -not that she wasn't sure she'd manage to catch him again and make him sorry for having tried-.

"Well, seems you are as cold and cut throat as the rumours say lass." The Fashionista said seeming unaffected by Ecclair's tone and words, "But you know, those rumours don't really do you justice. You're far nicer up close then they give you credit for." With a smirk and a glint of mischief in his eye the man couldn't help but try for the flattery card, he doubted it was going to work on this particular woman but he had nothing to lose, or so he thought. In the blink of an eye Ecclair turned around and dealt a blow to his stomach that sent him dropping to the ground on his knees. It was weaker than the one she'd knocked the guy out with before but she knew it would still hurt enough to tell him just where he stood, "What part of that sounded worthwhile to you."

The Fashionista let out a pained chuckle as he knelt on the ground clutching at his abdomen, why was it that it almost seemed like he liked the pain? "Ouch, haha. Alright, alright, not one to take a compliment I see." Recomposing himself the best he could the man took a deep breath and looked up at the cold aqua eyes staring into his own, "I don't really feel like risking saying the wrong thing again so how about you just tell me what you want to know ey?" Yeah, he didn't like having to blab about his organisation but to hell with that for now. He didn't want to die down there in that hell hole and with the woman in front of him there he wasn't going to get away, he had to tell them what they wanted to know or face the consequences.

Ecclair knew it had been nothing but a matter of time before the man started to speak but even she was slightly surprised with just how quickly he'd decided to open up, it was likely he would try to trick the pair with false information but given that they knew enough to decide what was fake and what wasn't that would prove to be risky too. "Where is the Mad Hatter?" Ecclair put it to the man as simply as it could ever be done, the thing was whether he would answer it truthfully or not.

For a scum bag paocher and criminal mastermind, the Fashionista had balls, Marcus had to hand him that. He was directly talking back to two knights who were able to single handedly infiltrate his entire base, take down all his security and grab him in the hole he was hiding in. One of the knights just knocked out his grunt with a single punch and the second had a gun pointed straight at his back. Yet, despite all of that, he still found the nerve to be a smart mouth. Marcus had to admit it; he was impressed.

Still, that did him little good. After trying unsuccessfully to sweet talk Ecclair, he earned himself a solid punch in the gut. Marcus watched as he doubled over in pain. Having seen the consequence of lying, he decided to open up. Still, cautious as ever, Marcus was skeptical that the Fashionista would be so quick to rat out on his business associate, especially when they had such a huge operation going on here.

The Fashionista licked his lips at the mention of the Mad Hatter. "Oh, him..." He said. "He's in the next room."

"What next room?" Marcus asked quizzically.

The Fashionista gave him a half smile. "It's hidden," He replied simply. "Try using this."

He rummaged in his coat and pulled out a small card key. Marcus took the card and examined it closely.

"You see that little boulder there? The one by the wall, move it aside."

Trusting that Ecclair could keep an eye the Fashionista for him, Marcus went over to the boulder the men specified and pushed it aside; the rock was surprisingly light. Behind the rock a small terminal was embedded in the wall. The kitten that Ecclair had given him brushed against his cheek as he inspected the terminal

"Yes, now insert the key card, that should reveal the doorway."

Marcus held up the key card but was hesitant to simply follow the Fashionista's orders. The knight knew that the man couldn't be trusted, even under the threat of bodily harm. Marcus looked closer at the key card terminal, looking for clues as to what it really was. The terminal had a small opening, just small enough for the card to go in smoothly. There was a blinking green light above the opening. It certainly didn't look like any key card terminals he had seen before.

Then something occurred to Marcus. Why was the terminal one-way? From the looks of it, the card would be inserted once then that's it. There was no ejection button, no way to retrieve the card after it was used. Keys are usually used more than once, allowing the person to open and close the door at their whim. Key card terminals typically use a sliding mechanism, so why would this terminal allow the use of the terminal only once? This, along with his previous doubts, fueled Marcus' suspicion that the Fashionista was being dishonest.

Marcus face hardened as he stood up from his kneeling position, he turned around, strode over to the Fashionista and grabbed him by the coat. He slammed the Fashionista against the wall angrily.

"Are you trying to lead us into a trap?"

The Fashionista put on a hurt face. "Why would you say that?"

Marcus hit against the wall. "The key card is a trap, it only goes into the terminal once. I'm willing to bet that it's some sort of fail safe in case of situations like this."

The Fashionista didn't answer, he slowly smiled back at Marcus. That was all the answer that Marcus needed.

"Tell us the truth!"

The Fashionista remained silent this time, he had nothing smart to say, no quick comebacks, no fancy remarks, just silence. But there was one tell that Marcus got from the intimidation, just for a second, blink and you'll miss it, the Fashionista's eyes darted back into the tunnel of which the two knights came from.

An idea dawned to Marcus.

He dropped the Fashionista on the ground unceremoniously and went over to Ecclair. He lowered his voice to a whisper to stop anyone but her from hearing.

"I think I have an idea of where the Mad Hatter is." He said. "You said this is an abandoned part of the tunnel, what if the used part, the part where the rest of the ring are hiding, is somewhere behind us?"

"Before I fell through the hole, I was looking for a trap... but maybe, maybe what I was looking for wasn't a trap but a rather a concealed entrance... What do you think?"

The Fashionista was dancing on the line between brave and stupid as he tried in vain to get the knights to fall into a trap of sorts and it had Ecclair doing little more than sighing meekly and rolling her eyes. She really didn't have the energy for this and yet for now she remained silent and still listening to Marcus who was speaking to her quietly. The Corporals idea wasn't a bad one, there was a chance that the Mad Hatter was lurking around in another secret area to the place but it wasn't one that her intuition was following. There were too many things that really didn't make sense when you thought about them, "I doubt the Mad Hatter would be here as well. I had no illusions of finding them both in the same rat hole, I had been hoping he'd save himself some time and discomfort by simply sharing where we could find his friend though." The last line was a lie but it had been said loud enough that the man she was referring to would hear, she just wanted to set some fear into him before Juto got a hold of him and by the looks of things it was working. As he knelt there still clutching at his abdomen in pain the man's eyes widened ever so slightly, if this woman was concerned about him then what the hell were the other guys going to do to him?

Just then as a silence took over the group a familiar voice called out from down the corridor, "Yo! I see you two have found our rat, good work." In the distance a group of knights could be seen approaching and with them were lanterns that illuminated their figures. Only the details of one could be made out for the lantern he held was at the front of him but even if it hadn't been revealing him Ecclair would have known from the voice alone. Juto had arrived with a unit of knights and with everything upstairs dealt with he had decided to come on down to the underground and see what was going on, it wasn't like he only did it because Ecclair was one of those there or anything.

As he reached the group Juto gave Ecclair a smile before looking down at the Fashionista, "Hmm, this is the guy? I'm almost disappointed." Juto mocked in typical Yamagami fashion. "Then again what did I expect from someone called 'The Fashionista'." The knights weren't ignored and it was obvious that despite the silence he was maintaining the Fashionista was angered by what was being said. Having succeeded so early on in getting under the man's skin was a bonus for Juto given that he'd be the one handling the interrogation later, if things were already going his way then he wouldn't have much trouble when the time came for the real event. "Alright then, you two ready to go?" Juto said while giving a motion of his hand to the knights behind him and immediately several of the men rushed forwards taking the Fashionista into their custody while several more continue down the corridor to the room ahead. From there the knights would gather all the information they could from the documents and the like that were stored there, hopefully they could learn something extra from what they found there.

What kind of question was that? Of course they were ready to leave, they'd done their job after all. Due to the nature of the stupid question Ecclair merely furrowed her brows slightly and started moving along by him, there was no point in answering such a stupid question and he ought to have known better than to ask it. With a smile and a silent chuckle of sorts Juto turned to glance at Marcus, as his eyes looked his way they immediately locked onto the tiny kitten on his shoulder. Widened and glistening they shone with excitement and something the read as being completely taken in by what he was seeing, "Oh! What's this?!" Now standing closer to Marcus he pointed at the kitten gently while looking straight at Ecclair's back as she walked off. Ecclair paused as she heard the question and remembering the kitten she'd actually saved to give to the man she turned around to face them again.

"What does it look like?" Despite the fact that she had saved the kitten with the intention to give it to Juto and that in doing so she'd been doing something thoughtful and kind the woman kept her normal behaviour going. Did he think that asking what it was wasn't a stupid question? It was a kitten and that was obvious to anyone. Un-phased by the response Juto's expression didn't change, "Why do you have it?" Juto asked quizzically, it wasn't like he'd expected to find them with a kitten that was for sure. At the question put to her Ecclair froze for a moment with her mind pondering on how to answer without giving away what she'd actually done, when nothing came to mind and the time was up for her to reply she could do little but speak roughly and turn away. "You know I wouldn't leave an animal there to die." It was true that Juto knew just how much of a softie Ecclair was to animals but he got the feeling there was something a little more to it than just that, probing onwards with a mischievous glint to his eyes the man couldn't help but feel excited. "Oh? Is that so..." He said with a hint of disappointment in his tone and Ecclair couldn't help but wonder if he was so because he wanted the kitten. "You like them right, cats. I figured you'd look after it."

A moment of realisation hit Juto like a tonne of bricks from the top floor of a skyscraper and in shock he stood up straight and wide eyed at Ecclair's back as she walked away. Had she saved the kitten with him in mind, was she intending to give it to him as a present of sorts? Now obviously overjoyed Juto turned to Marcus with a giant smile and with tender hands he would pick the tiny kitten up from the Corporals shoulder, "Come to Papa." Marcus would be the only one that head what the man muttered to the kitten, well besides the kitten itself that was. With a spring in his step Juto called out to Ecclair and rushed to catch up with her.

After exiting the building and returning to their makeshift base of operations the knights would have some time to relax and unwind while the data gathered from the operation was looked through.

Marcus shrugged at Ecclair's words. Her reasoning made sense, and after all, she was the one with more experience than himself. Now that Marcus thought about it, the chances of finding two high priority targets in one place was a bit of a stretch.

"Fair enough," Marcus concluded. "Still would've been nice to hit two dirtbags with one stone..."

Marcus turned at the familiar voice of Juto Yamagami. He strolled in with a unit of knights. Apparently they had come in after them and secured the area upstairs. Marcus saluted Juto and lowered his weapon as everyone came in took the Fashionista into custody. With everything under control, Marcus sheathed Iustitia, the rifle compacted into a small rod that he clipped to his side.

Marcus stood aside as he watched the proceedings, he was glad that everything was taken care of; now he could get out of this musty hole and get back into the sunlight. Just as he was about to leave, Juto spotted the small kitten that rested on Marcus' shoulder. For some reason, Juto's eyes lit up at the sight of the small creature.

The whole exchange left Marcus a little confused, but then again, the two's relationship in general left him confused. Marcus was willing to be that Juto had a thing for Ecclair, but the Sergeant was just too stone cold to show any feelings in return. From the exchange, Marcus guessed that she saved the cat to give it to Juto, who seemed to love cats, but she couldn't even admit it. It was like the two were stuck in some gray area between friends and more than friends.

Marcus shook his head, way too complicated for him. At least he and Laura were up close and personal with their feelings. He touched the engagement ring on his finger, as if reminding himself it was there.

"Uh..." Marcus stuttered as Juto picked up the kitten from his shoulders. "Okay then."

He turned around and found himself the last one in the room. He sighed in resignation and left the tunnel, following the rest of knights out of the god forsaken building.

Back in the tavern, Marcus relaxed on a chair, leaning back on the last two legs. Marcus tapped his finger on the table in front of him deep in thought. So they had caught the Fashionista, the first piece of the puzzle. Now they would have to debrief him and get as much information out of him as possible. Still the idea that they still hadn't completed the task before them weighed on him

"So now what." Marcus asked. "The Mad Hatter is still out there. They could still regroup with one leader."

The knights had returned to the tavern that was serving as their make shift base of operations without incident and as they used the downtime to relax and think over what they'd learned so far. Marcus seemed to be the kind to fiddle with things and the like as his mind ticked over but Ecclair sat silently eating away at a large strawberry sundae. Maybe it had been Juto's way of thanking Ecclair for the calico kitten he had been given or maybe he had just wanted to give her the treat for all her hard work, either way the giant dessert hadn't been refused and she found herself currently enjoying it with little thought on the matter. Juto had disappeared with the tiny and fragile kitten upon returning to the tavern while the other knights had seemingly gone off to interrogate the Fashionista and work through the information gathered from the scene. This left Ecclair and Marcus alone for all intensive purposes however conversation hadn't been sparked up between them, or at least it hadn't until Marcus seemed to have had enough of the silence.

For the first time since she'd sat down to the dessert in front of her Ecclair paused in her mouthfuls of it and looked away in her comrades direction, was he worried about the criminals having time to act while they sat around waiting for the results of their raid? "No doubt." Ecclair said with no concern, if they hadn't wanted them to band together and start working on a plan then rest assured that they wouldn't have been giving them time to do so. Marcus obviously hadn't thought on things that way though and so before she stepped in and told him the answer herself she was giving him a chance to clue on and figure it out himself, maybe then his pride wouldn't be as affected. Hmmm even if she was giving him a chance to figure it out she should probably answer his question as well. In typical Ecclair fashion the knight answered the question posed to her, "Like moths to a flame."

Before Marcus would have time to reply or really before he'd even have time to think on what had just been said too much Juto's voice would cut through the air. The man stepped through the doors behind the bar with the tiny kitten in his arms, "What she means to say is that that is exactly what we want. There is no doubt they will regroup and begin planning after that raid, why chase after rats one by one when you can find their nest and take them all at once." Juto said with a wink before looking back down to the small kitten in his arms who was leaning back suckling from a bottle. Ecclair obviously didn't appreciate how he butted in only to say exactly what she'd just said and snapping at him she made it clear before returning to her sundae, "I just said that." Juto gave a slight light hearted chuckle at the response before turning to Marcus and just shaking his head slightly and he had a feeling the young man would know just what he was thinking as he did so; Yeah, of course she did how silly of me.

Juto sat down next to Marcus and opposite Ecclair while keeping his eyes on the tiny kitten he was bottle feeding, "We've found out where the Mad Hatter is along with the names at least four of the major members of their poaching ring. It wasn't easy to get that guy to talk but once he got started he didn't seem to wanna stop." Juto said while keeping his eyes fixated on the kitten, "So once night comes you two will be dropping by to say hello." As if he was holding a baby the knight picked the tiny kitten who had just finished it's bottle up and held it out in front of him, "So, until then Mummy Clair is going to have to look after the baby so Papa Juto can do some preparations." The knight grinned wide and mischievously as he spoke for he knew full well what reaction he'd get from Ecclair.

Ecclair almost choked on the mouthful of sundae she was eating when Juto called her Mummy and himself Papa but she couldn't speak for the food in her mouth, the surprise and horror was evident all over her face and through her actions though as she spun around to look at him wide eyed. Before she could act she had the tiny kitten thrust into her hands and in what felt like the blink of an eye the man responsible was gone. What the heck had just happened?! Ecclair would stare at the tiny and content kitten in her grasp dumbfounded before realising that Marcus was still there and had heard and seen everything. With a sharp glance in his direction she made it clear that she wanted to hear nothing from him and somehow also that if he told anyone what he'd just witnessed he wouldn't live very long.

Marcus raised an eyebrow at Ecclair's response, confused by what she meant. Was she implying that they wanted the criminals to regroup? The reasoning for their action (or lack thereof) evaded Marcus somehow, mainly due to the vague answer that Ecclair gave him and partly because he was worried that the poaching ring would get enough time to devise a counterattack, or worse, escape Oshibana Town entirely.

If the crime ring left before they could capture the last leader, they'd be scattered about Fiore, leaving little chance for the knights to chase them and down and take them down entirely without expending a lot resources in the process. It was imperative that they kept this as contained as possible.

Marcus was just about to say he didn't understand when Juto appeared from behind the bar, cradling the little kitten in his arms. He explained that this was exactly what they wanted, if they gave just enough time for the criminals to regroup without being able to actually implement their plans, they could raid them and take them all out in one fell swoop.

Understanding crossed Marcus' face as Juto spoke. It was brilliant plan, if anything, it appealed to Marcus' sense of efficiency. He traded a face of recognition with the Lieutenant at Ecclair's words, smiling ever so slightly.

"I have to say," Marcus mused. "It's a good plan."

Juto sat down next to Marcus and briefed them on the upcoming task. Once everything is ready, the two of them would stage the raid on the entire group. The mention of them finally being able to end this all right then and there got Marcus excited. He'd be happy to be rid Fiore of these low lives once and for all. Then Juto got up and thrust the kitten into Ecclair's hands, saying something about how Papa Juto would have to finish preparations and Mummy Ecclair would have to look after the baby.

Marcus could barely contain himself from bursting out laughing at the exchange. He held held up a hand to his mouth to hide his snicker and he worked to stop himself. It wasn't working.

Of course, that all stopped the moment Ecclair gave him an angry glance. The smile melted away in an instant as he got the message. One word from him and they'd be sending the condolences to Laura, deal. Marcus sat blank faced after receiving his silent threat.

"I'll... uh... go polish my spear." He muttered and got up from his seat. "You should give the kitten a name, he deserves one." Marcus said as he left the room.

He left the tavern and went over to where the knight were interrogating the Fashionista. He was curious to see what they were doing with him now that they got the information they needed.

He entered the backrooms of the tavern and into the cellar, where all the alcohol was kept. As Marcus approached the door, he could hear the sounds of men grunting and the cries of pain, but worst of all was the all too familiar sound of fists hitting a body.

Alarmed, Marcus threw the door open. He found himself staring at two privates, both of them standing over the hunched form of the Fashionista. He was on the ground, battered and bruised, the privates on the other hand, had bloody knuckles and were sweating. Marcus immediately put two and two together.

"What the hell are you two doing?" He demanded.

The privates immediately composed themselves, saluting Marcus. "We're sorry, Corporal!" One said. "We were disciplining the prisoner, sir!"

"Disciplining the prisoner," Marcus echoed. "On what grounds?"

"He was being disrespectful, sir." The other one replied. "He insulted our honor and our families, sir!"

"So you retaliate by acting like common thugs and ganging up on him?" Marcus retorted.

"But si-"

"Do not talk back to me Private or I swear by all that I hold dear, I'll have you demoted so low, you won't be allowed to scrub the floors of HQ." Marcus shot back. "You have no right to assault this man like this, no matter what he said to you. If I hear that any one of you act in this misconduct ever again, I'll beat you to a pulp myself. Do I make myself clear?!"

The two privates nodded furiously, a terrified expression on their faces.

"Now get out of my sight."

The two privates left the room in a hurry, leaving Marcus alone with the Fashionista. The man was curled up in a ball on the floor, clearly in pain. Marcus walked over and grabbed the man by his coat, now all torn up and ruined, and placed him in a chair. He wasn't too gentle with his movements, but he made sure to not harm the criminal any further.

Despite the short amount of time that had elapsed between his capture and now, the man had changed. The smug look on his face had all but evaporated, and the mischievous look in his eyes was now replaced by a hollow look. He wasn't all smart ass now, just silent.

"Thank you." He croaked.

"Don't thank me," Marcus replied. "I only stopped them because it was the right thing to do."

A small span of silence settled between the two. "...Why did you stop them?" The Fashionista said finally.

Marcus didn't look at the man, focusing his gaze outside the window. "Knights are supposed to be better than other people. Our duty is to do what normal people can't, even if it means being merciful to someone who doesn't deserve it."

Marcus turned and went for the door, he opened the door and was about to step outside.

"The world needs more people like you."

"And the world needs less people like you." Marcus said as he left the room.

N-name it? Ecclair sat with somewhat wide eyes as she looked at the kitten in her hands while it seemed content to be held out in front of her she knew it would have preferred to be snuggling somewhere for a nap after its feed. It wasn't really her place to name it though was it, she'd given the thing to Juto and so if anyone should name it then it should be him. Since Marcus had left the room Ecclair found herself more at ease and placing the kitten down on her lap the woman leant back in her chair and watched it slumbering. Had she done the right thing in giving it to Juto? At times the man was immature and anyone else out there would have thought it completely moronic to trust him to raise an animal such as the one on her lap, normally he seemed like the type to forget his responsibilities completely but Ecclair knew better. There was another side to the playful joker and womaniser that was Juto Yamagami, he could be surprisingly loyal, dutiful and responsible at times. Now that she thought on it more she knew the kitten would be fine, if anything it would get spoilt rotten by the man especially if what she'd seen so far was anything to go by. Besides, he'd always done well in looking after Kishu when she had to leave him in his care... except for that one incident.

The time had finally come for the final raid against the poaching ring and with the sun now completely hidden from the sky Ecclair waited for Marcus to arrive. Once the Corporal had arrived she'd waste no time in getting straight to the point, "According to intel the rest of the poachers have gathered in one place as they plan what to do next, with that said they aren't anywhere near acting yet so we don't have to worry about a counter attack." She'd say with her usual no nonsense and direct tone before directing her gaze to the large unit of knights gathering at their side, "Right, we move out now. Stay together and keep yourselves as low profile as possible." The knights had the cover of darkness to make their way through the quiet streets of the town but if they were careless then it wouldn't keep them from being discovered, honestly she had no idea how competent the men and women in the unit were but she didn't have a choice in taking them. The building they would be raiding was too large for just the two of them to secure this time and with the objective to capture everybody within it and not just one key target they would need the help.

Things really weren't too dangerous for the knights despite the fact they were to raid against criminals, the people inside were poachers but they weren't really the best fighters or the most prepared. They hadn't the slightest idea that there were those amongst them working against them and so it wouldn't be long before they found themselves caught out completely.

When the knights reached the building they would spread out to cover all exits before Ecclair herself would give a command through a tiny microphone/earpiece she was wearing, "Start the party." The look on the knight's face as she spoke the key phrase was one of frustration and somewhat annoyance. It would be obvious to Marcus that it had been Juto who had set it in place and if he didn't want to be glared at again he wouldn't make it obvious if he found it amusing. Once they received the phrase the double agents inside the building would begin to cause chaos and it was this chaos that was the sign for the rest outside to visit.
