Marcus sucked on the candy in his mouth, content with the taste. Due to his upbringing and lifestyle, the knight was rarely one to indulge in such luxuries as confectioner but this subtle change was a welcomed one, especially when it's so tasty... The extreme sweetness of the candy almost overwhelmed him at first, overtaking his pallet and numbing his senses somewhat. However, after a minute or so, he managed to bear through the taste and savor the flavor (dat rhythm). Marcus listened to the Sergeant's words. Though the Corporal was loathe to mention it, he wasn't exactly up-to-date with the information about the mission. Now Marcus wasn't one to make excuses, but he the day before the briefing, he ahd stayed up really late doing some paperwork. So when the two hour long briefing rolled along, Marcus found himself nodding off, missing much of the briefing in his half awake, half sleeping trance. Anyway. Marcus and Ecclair found themselves in front of a building, with the Sergeant letting him know exactly what to do. The Peacemaker nodded his head, unsheathing Iustitia and letting the spear unfold to it's full length. The candy's effects was starting to kick in, Marcus could practically feel the sugar rushing in his veins. "Understood, Sergeant." The knight said. Well since they were literally busting into their hideout, Marcus figured that perhaps he could do away with the subtle approach. The knight walked up to the door, and with a hard kick, Marcus knocked them open. He stood over the fallen door, spear in hand as he surveyed the scene. The place reminded him of his time at the Dandelion Sector with Sergeant Vakarian, the place was run down, rickety and reeked of criminal activity. The only difference was that the dandelion sector was filled with hardened criminals, in this place, all the knights found was a single man sitting at the table with the bartender wiping in front of him. At the sight of them, the bartender yelped and ducked under the counter, while the man was less than fearful. He grabbed a knife from his pocket and came running at Marcus, intending to slash him across the face. Unfortunately for him, Marcus had trained against direct knife assaults some many times, he could do them in his sleep. He stabbed his spear into the ground as he prepared to counterattack. He raised an armored hand to brace the knife arm, stopping the blade from reaching his face. Using his other hand, Marcus grabbed him by the neck and slammed his face into a nearby table. Marcus didn't use all of his strength, but enough to knock him out and stop him from causing further trouble. A loud shrill sound almost startled Marcus as he went to go into the tunnel. The knight cursed under his breath, he had forgotten about the bartender from before and now the entire base knew about their presence...well then again they weren't exactly being subtle from the get-go. "Well it can't be helped." Marcus muttered. "They know we're here now, so we'd best find this tunnel quickly..." Marcus pulled his spear out of the ground. He immediately regretted knocking out the man who attacked him, at least then he could've gotten some information out of him. Now he had to actually search for the tunnel. He walked over behind the counter where the bartender was hiding. He had last seen him ducking behind the counter, so that was the best place for him to look. Marcus crouched down to see under the counter, fumbling around with his fingers until he felt a button, that must've been the button to the alarm. "Sergeant, I think I found something." Marcus called. Edited by Marcat, Sep 3 2013, 05:12 AM.

Much to Ecclair’s surprise Marcus seemed to step up and take the initiative as they reached the front door to the building in question, so far the man had seemed like he would simply sit back and force his superior to make the choices. While she was pleased to see he did have the courage to make decisions for himself Ecclair had to hope that he also had the common sense and skills to back them up. Waiting behind Marcus as he stood in the doorway atop the poor door he kicked from it’s hinges the female knight watched the scene before her unfold with attentive eyes. There were two enemies in the room, or at least there were two that could be detected, one man was behind the bar which he promptly took cover behind and the other charging forth at the intruding knights themselves. Normally when someone is charging at a friend or a comrade with a knife you would feel some kind of nervous tension or perhaps even concern, Ecclair however barely batted an eyelid as it all unfolded. If she didn’t think Marcus could handle a run of the mill thug with a knife then there would have been no way that he’d have been taken into the Dauntless Vanguard, hell there would have been no way she’d have interacted with him again to be frank. Alarms began to ring as the bartender no doubt set off the signal for the boss to get to their hidden tunnel for safety purposes, with a hidden roll of her eyes Ecclair stepped out from behind Marcus as he remained largely in the way of her entry. It wasn’t like it mattered that an alarm had been sounded though for kicking in the door was far from subtle in the first place. It would have been nice if they had been able to question the man that now lay out cold on the floor as to the whereabouts of the tunnel though, judging by the look on Marcus’s face though he too knew that fact all too well and so Ecclair decided there was no need to verbalise it. Marcus chose to head over behind the bar and begin his search for clues as to the location of the hidden tunnel while Ecclair chose to take slow steps through the main room as her eyes wandered it’s details. With everything noted in her head and possibilities rules out through her judgement Ecclair decided to focus on a thought in particular The bar tender had taken cover behind the bar and yet somehow he was gone before Marcus started looking there, there was no sense in having the tunnel entrance behind the bar since the boss wouldn’t be able to get to it safely and so that meant one thing; the bar tender had snuck away and headed towards it. Following the layout of the bar Ecclair walked to the only place that the man could have fled from behind it and like a detective the woman walked down the corridor just past Marcus. If they wanted to find the tunnel they just had to follow the signs that those fleeing to it left them, hopefully Marcus would realise when Ecclair didn’t answer him that she was on a hunt of her own. The corridor was long however Ecclair knew what she looking for, the man that had fled from behind the bar had been in a state of panic -evident by his feminine scream- and so he wouldn’t have been thinking enough to avoid leaving clues that could be followed. What kinds of clues? Well one open door out of ten or so that were closed was a rather glaring sign if you ask me. The room was too far from the back of the building where the boss would be hiding and so the odds of the tunnel being within it were low, with that being said though it didn’t mean that the panicked bar tender hadn’t fled to it on instinct. Lurking just off to one side of the open door frame Ecclair stood where no angles of the room would give vision of her, she’d give Marcus a couple of moments to catch up to her however if he showed no signs of doing so she wouldn’t hesitate to enter it alone. It wasn’t out of fear or the need for back-up that the knight waited though, it was more for the fact that she didn’t want Marcus getting lost. This was still after all his first really time on an assignment in the group, it wouldn’t do well for him to wind up hurt for being alone. |

Marcus continued to check his immediate surroundings as he waited for Ecclair's response. Though he had found where the alarm was, he had yet to find any particular sound for a tunnel in that spot. Still, it was as good as a lead he could find and he figured that with the Sergeant being more experienced than him, she'd catch onto something that he had missed. When Ecclair didn't reply, Marcus looked up, wondering why she had completely ignored him. He raised his head a bit too quickly and banged it against the counter. He grunted in pain and clutched his head, cursing under his breath. Marcus rubbed his head as he scanned the room and found Ecclair standing by the corridor nearby. Silently, Marcus got up and went to stand by her, wondering what she had found. Following her gaze, Marcus saw an open door out of the majority of closed ones. He caught on to what Ecclair had seen. The bartender didn’t enter into the tunnel after all, but rather, in his own panic, had fled into a room. This was the perfect chance for them to get some information out him, what with his comrade being knocked out and whatnot. The knight switched Iustitia into rifle mood and held it to his side, across from Ecclair by the doorframe, so the person inside couldn’t see him as well. Quietly, Marcus signaled to the sergeant that he would scout in before her; this would give Ecclair a chance to back him up if things went wrong while still giving Marcus a chance to take the initiative. He pulled a flashbang round from his belt and loaded it into the gun. He aimed for a far corner of the room and shot the round. With a loud bang and a surprised cry, the room was illuminated briefly. Using the distraction, Marcus entered the room quickly, grabbing the blinded man and pulling him to the ground. He stood over the cowering man, rifle aimed to his chest. “Hands on your head, don’t move!” The man whimpered but did as he was told. “There’s no point in resisting, show us the entrance to the tunnel.” Marcus ordered. Though the man was obviously scared out of his wits, he made no motion to say where the tunnel, staying perfectly quiet. Marcus couldn’t help but admire his bravery, that or the Fashionista would kill him if he snitched, which was more likely to be the case. Marcus poked his gun in the man’s back. “I’ll just remind you that I have a gun pointed at your back.” It wasn’t like Marcus was going to shoot the bartender or anything; he wasn’t the type of man to kill unless he had really had to, but when you work in Law Enforcement long enough, bluffing becomes something of second nature. The man whimpered some more. “…Fine.” “Get up.” The man got up. He looked around the room with shifty eyes , focusing on Ecclair. Marcus could tell that he was trying to come up with a way to get run away, but having seen Ecclair and Marcus still having his rifle against his back, it seemed he decided otherwise. He left the room and entered the corridor, heading down the building and closer to the middle. He reached a closed door and knocked three times on the door frame. A small peephole appeared, and he leaned forward, letting a beam of light scan his eye. There was the sound of gears whirling and suddenly the door opened, revealing a dark passageway with stairs leading down. The man turned to Marcus. “Will you release me now?” “Nope.” Marcus grabbed some chain from another room and tied him to a pipe sticking out of the wall. “Some of our friends will come around to pick you up later.” Marcus said to him. |

Was this how Marcus approached every tactical assignment or was this simply one of those ‘I’m new and better do things right’ situations? As Ecclair pondered over the thought she watched the man enter the room and couldn’t help but smirk slightly, whatever it was only time would tell. Marcus initiated the assault on the room well, the use of a flash round was not only clever but it was safe and tactical as well and to be frank it wasn’t far from how Ecclair herself would have gone in should she have felt that there was an inherent danger to herself. Casually walking into the room behind Marcus and his grand entry Ecclair held her weapon at her side calmly and looked around the room itself. Even if he had panicked and sought shelter the man really had chosen a dumb place to try and hide and as Marcus restrained him it showed that he hadn’t even gone for a weapon in the time he’d had, it was almost disappointing to think that someone as cowardly as this guy could be part of a criminal organisation. Were they really so short on members that this was what they had amongst them? With a gun to his back the man that was now apprehended wasn’t left with very many options, either he did what he was told/what was asked of him or he tried something daring only to find out that the woman in the room was more than just a pretty face as she dealt with him. Fortunately for the man himself he chose the former of the two options and like a good boy he took the pair of knights to the location of the hidden door that they were seeking to gain entrance to. For a building that most definitely not screaming high tech the fact the nature of the technology on the hidden was rather surprising. A retinal scanner definitely wasn’t something that Ecclair had thought would be the lock to the door, heck she wouldn’t have been surprised if there hadn’t even been a locking mechanism in the first place. What was she planning to do if there was? Well, without a hostage to get them through the device it was likely that she would have resorted to the good old fashioned and heavy footed approach. Yep, good old physical strength and a sturdy weapon would have gotten the job done. As it was thought the fact that the man had allowed himself to be captured and used as a ‘key’ of sorts proved to be rather lucky, perhaps with less of a noise and scene made as they entered the tunnel the pair of knights could catch a few people off guard. As Marcus tied up their newly apprehended ‘friend’ so that he wouldn’t get away before someone could come deal with him Ecclair took the liberty of stepping into the stairs that lead downwards into the earth first. Despite the somewhat high tech mechanism on the door the inside of the tunnel wasn’t really what you would have called fancy, hard and roughly levelled concrete flooring was underfoot with what was nothing more than carved out earth serving as the walls. Not all technology had been forsaken at the entrance of the tunnel however, lights dotted the ceiling however they were crudely installed and the powerlines and cables connecting them could be seen and traced from light to light. For as far as the eye could see the tunnel continued in only one direction so until a branching path came the pair would be moving as a pair, Ecclair didn’t exactly like the idea of splitting up and leaving Marcus without back-up should the tunnels split however there wasn’t really a choice. There was only two of them and no matter what they had to ensure that they covered all tunnels, the thing was… what if the tunnels branched out in more ways than they could possibly keep secured? Juto had foreseen this slight hiccup and before the pair had left the bar the knight had managed to slip Ecclair a few devices that he’d been tinkering with. The items appeared as small boxes no larger than an inch in each dimension however when activated they were far more than that, after being set down and a small button pressed each tiny box would raise a wall of magical energy which would act as a barrier of sorts. It was with these that Ecclair and Marcus were to keep things under control and ensure that they weren’t flanked or that no one managed to sneak out behind them through tunnels they hadn’t chosen to take. A process of elimination was bound to take place as the knights searched the tunnels for the man they sought but at least they could do it at their own pace with these nifty little guys. Eventually the first corridor branched out into three paths and the time for Ecclair to give Marcus some of the devices he’d need came to hand, “Use these to cover all ways you come across, none must escape these tunnels.” Ecclair would offer out pouch of the items that she summoned from her pocket dimension and once Marcus had taken it she would set to showing him how they worked. On the corridor that neither of them were to take Ecclair crouched down with the cube in hand, with a press of the button atop of it a small beep would sound out and as the box was placed it would count down roughly three seconds. At the end of the three seconds and after Ecclair had already returned to standing the cube set to work and blocked off the corridor, “I take it you saw how to use them. We will be able to pass through it without trouble, so long as you don’t lose your tag.” Tag? No doubt for a second Marcus would be confused as to what Ecclair was referring to but if he looked inside the pouch he’d been given he would notice that there was something else within other than the cubic devices. |

OOC Marcus followed Ecclair into the tunnel, the man he had tied before gave him a dirty look as he passed by him. The tunnel was rather contradictory to what the high tech door might've suggested. It was basically a hole in the ground, nothing more. Than again, Marcus doubted that a secret poaching ring would spend a whole lot of money to deck out their tunnel with the same technology their entrances had, mostly because being a criminal meant that you were inherently cheap, in one way or another. He held his rifle to his side limply as he studied the featureless tunnel, trying to find something in the vacancy of the place. For as far as he could tell, the tunnel went in one single direction, which meant that for the moment he and the Sergeant were sticking together. Still, Marcus was pretty sure that in such a large tunnel like this, it would undoubtedly branch out, forcing the two knights to split up. Immediately, Marcus saw the problems with this plan of action, but as it seemed, Ecclair had foreseen the same problems. Marcus watched as she summoned a pouch of sorts from thin air and offered it to him. Not knowing what to do with it, Marcus took it from her, watching intently as she showed him how he could use the devices inside. Marcus nodded at her words. It was quite the simple, yet ingenious invention, no doubt the work of Juto. The barriers would make it so that Marcus wouldn't get caught out by enemies while allowing him to seal off any tunnels to prevent escapees. Still, something bothered him, Ecclair had mentioned something called a tag. Curious, Marcus peered into the bag. Inside, he found more than the devices that he had been shown. A small wrist band was tucked inside as well, silver in coloration and glowing with a faint green hue. Marcus pulled it out and held it in his hand. He turned to the barrier that Ecclair had just summoned. He placed a hand on it and pushed, but it was solid and unrelenting. He slipped on the wrist band and tried to touch the barrier but it his hand simply passed through like he had touched the surface of water. "Understood, Sergeant." The knight hefted his rifle and started to move forward, forging the path through the tunnels. The place was eerie and rather quiet, almost giving the impression that it was completely deserted. The darkness was unforgiving, too, it was unsettling and seemed to hide something amidst it's folds. |

Silence, oh how wonderful it could be at times. Even as she walked down silent corridors with the threat of danger at every corner and with every step Ecclair preferred that things were silent. It was easier to concentrate when things were silent and even in everyday life she preferred when things weren't competing for her attention, it really was a bother when things turned noisy but unfortunately life seemed not to understand that most of the time. Thankfully the silence at the given time wasn't just peaceful and preferred by Ecclair for general reasons, with the silence all around her it made it that much easier for her to tune her keen senses into any noise she heard. If anyone or anything moved she would notice it, she was only human and so her senses had their limits but with that said she was still well above most with what she could detect. Several minutes passed with Ecclair venturing down a few dead ends paths only to turn around and head back to the barricades she'd placed up to pass back through them and move on, nothing seemed to pop out at the knight and no one had crossed her path. Was there really only one or two people down there in the underground passage, if that was the case then where had the rest of those that had been inside the building above gone? It would have been sad if there had only been three or four in the entire building, then again, what was she expecting of a new poaching ring that had just set up in this town. Ecclair couldn't know what Marcus was finding as he too searched through the corridors however she had the feeling that he too for now wouldn't find the person that they were looking for. Odds were that there was a hiding place at the end of everything that they would find their mark in, they just had to find the end of the entire network while not letting anyone escape should they be down there. It might not have been difficult thanks to the devices that the pair had but it was tedious, oh well it could have been worse right? The silence around was not to last forever as a faint meow echoed out near Ecclair, a cat? The woman shot a glance to her side where the meow had come from and sure enough there was indeed a cat, or should I say a kitten. No larger than the palm of the knight's gauntlet covered hand the tiny creature was clearly barely old enough to be away from its mother, but then what was it doing down here of all places? Had its mother hidden down here to give birth and somehow it had been separated from the rest of its litter recently, it definitely looked thin enough and weak enough to suggest it hadn't been fed properly in a few days. You might think Ecclair the kind of woman not to care about a kitten in distress when she was on a job but you'd be wrong, there was no way she was just going to leave the thing there to die of starvation or dehydration that was for sure. With the tiny calico kitten cradled to her shoulder sleeping away Ecclair continued searching the tunnels, either she would find the kittens mother and the rest of its litter during her search or she would give it to Juto upon their next meeting. There was no doubt in the woman's mind that the man would eagerly take it under his wing, he'd always had a soft spot for animals -calico cats in particular-, perhaps that was one of the reasons she found herself liking the man at all. Anyone that can truly care for and love animals can't be a bad person, it takes a kind heart and a selfless person down deep to treat them the way he did and in that she could see some of herself within him. In fact she almost hoped that she wouldn't find the rest of the litter and that she could give Juto the tiny kitten, she knew it would make him happy for whatever reason it was he loved Calico cats so much. |

Things were a bit too quiet for Marcus' liking. Not that he preferred the noise or anything, but in a situation like this, where they were treading straight into the middle of a enemy territory, silence was not desirable. Silence usually signaled that something was hiding in the shadows, it was reminder that there might be danger they were unaware of. Silence always preceded the prey that was about to pounced upon by a hunter. Marcus gripped his rifle just a bit tighter as he walked alongside Ecclair. While she was preoccupied with a small kitten that was hiding in the tunnel, Marcus kept walking forward, seeing it prudent to scout ahead. Something caught his eye as he walked ahead, it was faint and just noticeable, it glinted in the light. Marcus caught his breath and walked slower as he approached the place where he glimpsed the glint. Marcus knelt down and reached out with his hand, only to feel something thin and long, like a thread, only more sturdy. His fingers felt the steel wire, then he pinched it between two fingers and traced it's path across the hallway. It was a tripwire, threaded between the two walls at ankle length. It was quite taunt, which meant it was primed. It seemed that Marcus had successfully caught a trap designed to capture any intruders who happened to enter the tunnel, people like Ecclair and himself. But something bothered Marcus. The wire was too easy to detect, the trap was too obvious. It didn't feel right, especially when he knew that this was a professional criminal poaching ring, they wouldn't be so amateur as to place such poorly concealed traps in their very hideout. With that in mind, Marcus began to look for other traps, something a bit more cleverly concealed. He felt the ground behind the tripwire. Marcus reasoned that they would place a pressure plate of some sort right in front of the tripwire to catch someone like Marcus who had seen the tripwire and simply walked over it. But the ground in front of the trip wire was plain, nothing out of the ordinary. Marcus frowned, he was willing to bet that there was something he was missing. The last thing he needed was for Ecclair to come along and find him caught in a trap. Marcus pinched the dust in his finger and rubbed them together, feeling the consistency. "Hey! What are you doing here?!" A booming voice called. Marcus' head snapped up, laying eyes on a beefy guy with a mace, bearing down on him . The man tried to bring the mace down on Marcus' head but he leapt out of the way. Marcus grabbed his rifle and switched it into spear mode, just in time to block another blow. The man grunted as he tried to overpower Marcus but was unsuccessful, the knight adjusted his grip on the spear and twisted it to slam him across the face. The man stumbled back near the trip wire. Marcus' eyes widened. "No!" He grabbed the man by the shirt, but it was too late, his foot had fallen on the wire. Immediately, the ground underneath their feet crumbled, revealing the dark hole beneath them. Marcus yelled in surprise as he fell into a dark abyss. Edited by Marcat, Oct 8 2013, 11:02 PM.

Since the time that Ecclair had separated from Marcus in order to search different tunnels branching from the main one everything seemed to be going fine. She'd not found anyone of interest nor had she come across anything, well other than the tiny calico kitten she currently cradled anyway. Seeing as how there had been no large sounds or cries for help odds were that Marcus was dealing with much the same scenario, just how deep in did these rats flee exactly? As she started to ask herself that very question the silence that had been all around for some time suddenly disappeared, echoing through the tunnels a crashing sound showed signs of action, was it where Marcus was though? Carefully and yet quickly Ecclair made sure that the tiny kitten was safely tucked up to her shoulder by her free hand, running with her weapon in her other hand the knight made haste in the direction that the noise had come from. Being underground and all had risks associated with it, especially when a loud noise and what was likely crashing of some description started echoing about. The last thing they needed was a cave in, sadly though there was nothing she could do if that did eventuate, she'd have to try and get Marcus out before evacuating herself. Ecclair stood at the entrance to the tunnel where she was certain Marcus was up to based on the location of the barrier like devices he'd used so far, so far there had been no signs of a cave in so whatever it was had to have another cause. As she stepped through the barrier and started her way down the tunnel it didn't take long for her to stumble across a rather peculiar scene, had Marcus fallen through into some kind of tunnel below the one they were already in? Standing at the edge of the giant gaping hole in the ground Ecclair crouched down and tightened her grip on the kitten, it wouldn't do to drop it into the darkness down there that much was for certain. Based on how deep the hole seemed to be there wasn't much chance that it was a simple tunnel under the one she stood in, was it like some kind of trap? The more important question was whether or not Marcus was down there. "Corporal Faldin, state your location." Ecclair was aware that the man could be unconscious should he have fallen however she would state the same line several times in an attempt to get a response. Marcus woke up from where lay on the ground, he shook his head to relieve his dizziness and stood up to get a view of his surroundings. He had fallen into a chasm of sorts, a secondary tunnel beneath the one he was in. He looked up above him, the hole of which he had fallen through was at least four meters up, too far him to jump or simply climb out of. In front of him, the tunnel seemed to stretch forward into the darkness. Marcus sighed as he picked up Iustitia which was on the ground next to him. He hefted the rifle in his hand. "This is Marcus." He answered. "I'm fine, but I've seemed to have fallen into a secondary tunnel of sorts." "I'll have to continue alone and rendezvous with you later." Just as he finished the sentence, something huge and strong slammed into Marcus' back, knocking onto the ground. Marcus felt a hand find it's way around his neck and squeeze, constricting his wind pipe. It was the man that fallen in with him, it seemed he hadn't been knocked out by the fall. The man grimaced down at Marcus as he strangled him. But Marcus grabbed his wrist and began to twist, overpowering the man and removing the pressure from his throat. The moment his other arm was free, Marcus elbowed him in the temple, aiming to daze him. Then he braced both legs and kicked him off of him. The man fell to the ground, but he got up quickly. Marcus scrambled up to his feet and spearheaded him to the floor. With practiced moves, Marcus twisted his shoulder, pulling it apart and dislocating it. Then, with a good squeeze on a few pressure points, the guy was put to bed. Marcus got up, dusted himself off and grabbed Iustitia. He looked into the dark tunnel ahead of him. "I miss Chrysanthemum." Marcus muttered as he hefted the rifle and walked into the tunnel. Edited by Marcat, Oct 15 2013, 04:26 PM.

It was reassuring to hear Marcus speak up from the darkness below, at least he sounded alright. If he'd been injured it could have been quite the hassle that was for sure, there was no way she wanted to carry him out of there -even though she had no doubt she could have done so with relative ease-. Ecclair stood up and pondered on the decision she had to make, she could have gotten Marcus back up to the same floor as her easily and she could also get down there just as easily, thing was which choice should she make? The Corporal seemed to wish to travel on alone in the tunnel he'd 'discovered' but seeing as how she'd actually searched everywhere on her end and by the looks of it he was in a dead end with no other places to search himself the Lieutenant had another idea. Ecclair used the sound of Marcus's footsteps in the distance to judge where he was, waiting until it was clearly safe for her to leap down the woman reassured the tiny kitten in her hands with a gentle whisper and press of her lips to its head. There was no doubt the leap down into darkness would scare the poor little thing and she wasn't keen on that but she had no choice in the end, the creature would just have to bear with it. The knight landed as graceful and silently as ever and it was unlikely that Marcus would have heard it from the distance he was away from her, he definitely seemed rather eager to press onwards given his current pace. Despite her steps being quiet Ecclair gained ground on Marcus rapidly and before he knew it he would find himself with a familiar voice sounding out from right behind him, "The upper floor is clear, who we seek is likely to be down here somewhere." The truth was that the two knight were actually walking along an old and incomplete part to a secret floor of tunnels and that the person they were after was indeed there with them. After a little while of walking down the long and dark tunnel the pair would come to find themselves staring at the back of several thick boards which were there to block off the tunnel they were in. The boards had been nailed from the other side and it made it obvious as to why the tunnel they'd just walked hadn't had lights or well even any signs of being used recently, it was an abandoned part to the underground area. The boards were thick and well nailed, with no gaps between them to allow a grip on any to be made there was really only one option; Break through them with or without a weapon. Ecclair knew that she could have broken them without her blade however in the interest of keeping things as quiet as possible she chose to use a slicing method rather than a breaking one. Ecclair would cut out a hole in the wooden planks large enough for the two knights to squeeze through one by one and it would be up to Marcus to catch it before it toppled forwards crashing into the ground, hopefully he would figure out that they were to be quiet and do so without Ecclair having to mention it. After they stepped through the hole in the barricade the knights would find themselves just outside an entrance way which sat off to their left, several voices could be heard from within the room and the smell of cigarettes was strong. So, they'd found their mouse. |
